His journey began as he was wearing his cloak, he was searching for the mysterious Skye. He had asked to learn more about weapons and was told that he could find a master who had the ability to use the strangest of strange weapons.

How long had it been since he learnt to use a kunai, the most basic of basic weapons. As he sat there wondering as he looked up to the sky in search of Skye as lightning struck next to him, and another shot just to the side of him. This was a dangerous place, but he was not one to fear lightning in lightning country. It would be like a bat being scared because this is Bat Country.

He waited and hoped that one day this man would appear to teach him.

Skye was dragging his feet as he lazily made his way to the Thunder Grounds. His lethargic pace gave off the impression that he had either not gotten enough sleep the night before, or was simply not looking forward to his upcoming encounter. He vaguely remembered the meeting, only being able to recall bits and pieces of the conversation. The one who he bumped into was a somewhat small Genin by the name of Elin, and he had an extreme fascination with his weapon of choice. When asked if he would be able to teach the boy, he didn’t think too hard about it. Recently having a slight respite from his normal ANBU duties, he agreed had enough time to help Elin. He only hoped that the boy would take his time seriously and not squander a single second of his training.

The sound of two pieces of metal seemed to echo around him as he carried the weapons to where he was supposed to meet the Genin. Skye occasionally glanced over his shoulder to make sure his weapons were still fastened on his back. As he stared, he started to think about his blades. One of the scythes was larger than the other, having two large blades extending from the top, and a chain connected at the bottom. It was a weapon he treasured and was certainly not willing to part with. The other scythe on his back was much smaller, having only a single blade and no chain attached. On his side was a pair of sickles connected at the hilt by a chain. Just staring at them gave him memories of his Chuunin exams and the countless missions he used the weapons on. With a shake of his head and a quick glance around, Elin came into view. With a smile and a raised hand, he greeted the boy. “Hey! Elin right? You asked me about the scythe training?” Skye’s tone was rather cheery, despite his laid back and tired appearance. He kept his smile up and simply waited on the boy. No doubt he wanted to jump right into training.

He heard someone call to him as he snapped out of his day dream, it was that man who appeared before him. He wanted to train, but a part of him was annoyed since he was not able to see Ame today. He did not know what the reasons were, but the reasons for her not being able to see him today were always stupid to him. Unless they were Ame's reasons which showed how biased he had become to her, as well as how attached he was to Ame.

He noticed the smile and the wave and was wondering why the man was trying so hard, as he decided he needed to meet him with equal respect he held the palm of his hand against his chest as he spoke out loud. "I am Elin, Skye-s...", he hesitated for a moment before losing his confidence at that moment and looking down as he spoke softly. "Skye-sensei..."

He looked up slowly not raising his head as he continued, "Sensei... may I raise my head yet?". He had read about sensei's being very strict on respect and while he had been to the academy that was more of a school like environment with loving teachers. When it came to normal sensei's he was not sure what to expect and Ame was in a sense also his sensei, but he was too close to her to use any formalities for her. He was ready for training, but he felt he had to show respect before he could learn anything from his sensei.

Skye looked down at Elin. He seemed to take in Elin’s features, mainly focusing on his height. Given his short stature, the scythe Skye brought with him was almost perfect for the boy. The only worry he had was that the general top-heavy aspect of the scythe would take a good amount of getting used to.

With a sigh, Skye nodded his head. “Yeah, yeah, you can raise your head. And come on, I haven’t taught you anything yet. Least nothing that gives the title of sensei just yet…” He rolled his eyes. He wasn’t one for the whole ‘sensei’ formality, but there wasn’t any harm in being called that. Skye had been a teacher once before, so he knew a certain kind of teaching strategy that he could put his own spin on. Considering his previous students learned a decent amount from him and went on to pass the previous Chuunin exam, he was rather confident that Elin would get something worthwhile out of this training session.

Skye slowly started to remove the equipment and laid it out in front of him. “If I’m going to teach you about Scythes, you have to know what it can and can’t be used for.” Keeping his own and more advanced scythe in his hands, he took a few steps away from Elin and pointed down at the basic scythe, motioning for him to pick it up. “Go ahead and pick that up and we’ll get started. And feel free to ask me questions. I’m not a strict teacher in the slightest.” As Skye spoke, he gripped the pole of his weapon and lifted it above his head, seeming to stretch out his arms in the process.

He watched as his new sensei was looking down at him as if he was looking for something, though if he had been paying attention he would realise he was just checking him out a bit. His sensei seemed to sigh and seemed a bit casual as he told him to raise his head, which Elin did and began to relax a bit since the sensei did not seem that serious at all. As he watched the strange casual sensei rolling his eyes as if Elin did something stupid.

He watched as his new sensei began to remove his equipment and laid it down in front of him as he looked on and said that  they would be learning about scythes. He was told he had to learn what it could and could not do, which he thought was obvious but then again maybe his sensei really thought he was stupid as he looked down appearing some what dejected or lacking confidence in himself. This was either the child's failure at being a student or the teacher's failure to understand the student.

He watched the sensei jump back with a large scythe in his hands and a not so big scythe on the floor as he was told to pick it up. He told the small child to ask questions and that he was not strict at all, as he felt like the teacher was babying him. He was a bit annoyed and thought he would try and impress his sensei. However as he lifted the scythe just getting it up the weight of the scythe began swinging back as he spun in circles twice before the end of the scythes head stabbed into the ground as he held onto the scythe to keep himself from falling. It was not that the scythe was heavy at all, it was just that this weapon did not seem to be as balanced as holding a well crafted sword or a self made bow which was so light that awkwardness would never really be a problem with those. The scythe was a strange weapon, you could not even compare this to a spear whose weight at the edge is not as one sided.

He knew he was stupid for failing to lift a scythe correctly as he resisted crying as he looked to his sensei and said softly.
"I need a bit of help please"

Just looking at Elin’s stance made Skye cringe. Having used a scythe as his main weapon for years, he found it hard to believe that its weight was the problem. Looking at his student’s face, he could tell from the flushed red cheeks he was holding back tears. He was going to be a tiny bit forceful with his training, but he didn’t expect this kind of reaction in the very beginning. As much as he wanted to comfort Elin, he decided to take a different approach. Holstering his scythe, he stepped over next to his student and snapped his fingers in front of Elin’s face. “Hey, no crying now. I know you’re going to struggle a bit, but that’s why I’m here. Suck it up and let’s keep going.” Skye grinned slightly, trying to lighten the mood. Though his face expressed kindness, his tone was stern and sounded somewhat demanding. It was a mixed message, but they would most likely get through to the Genin.

Turning his attention to the way his student was standing, as well as his grip on the scythe, he nodded once and went to work. “Hand here, and hand here.” Skye grabbed Elin’s right hand and shifted its position on the pole. He then moved to Elin’s other hand and moved them into place as well. Shifting Elin’s fingers apart very slightly, he then put a finger on the Genin’s chest. “Now lean back and point the blade to the left.” Pushing on his student, he waited to see his slight adjustments fix the problem. There was very little doubt that his slight changes wouldn’t do anything. As a result of this, he simply returned to his previous spot and gabbed his own scythe. His grip, and the grip that Elin had would be almost identical.

Once the grip and weight distribution was figured out, he would then go on to talk about the fundamentals and basics of the weapon. “So you might’ve heard the junk about a sword being part of your arm and an extension. Well scythes are nothing like that. A scythe should only be used for two things. Keep away, and Offense.” Skye held up two fingers as he mentioned the two key concepts. “Keep away.” He quickly takes a slice at Elin, only to stop a mere inch from his chest. “You aren’t getting anywhere close to me, and this blade is going to make sure of that. If they do get close…” Skye reels the blade in, showing that if anything was in between the two, it would most likely be sliced. “Now you try. Keep a tight grip on it and let the blade finish through.” Resetting his position, he made sure that he’d be able to dodge if Elin made any mistake.

He gave a look that made Elin feel like he disappointed his new sensei as he began to look down even closer to crying then he was a moment ago. He watched his sensei holster his scythe as he stepped over and snapped his fingers which shocked him for a moment before having his sensei say he was not allowed to cry. He was a bit shocked cause he was sure he was not crying or at least he thought he was not crying as this made him feel like crying even more as his sensei half reassured him that he was there to help if he struggled and that he should suck it up. The expression was a bit lost on him as he just sucked up the tear that nearly left his eyes by looking up and blinking as the drops sprayed to the side as he shook his head a bit before blinking again with a better look in his eyes. Though his eyes just ended up looking very glossy in a watery way, as he noticed his sensei grinning as his mind dove into confusion as he was half way between completely bursting into tears and bursting into laughter. Had he not been scared by the way in which his sensei seemed to scold him he would have perhaps done both right then and there.

He struggled with the tears of laughter and sadness while being shown how to grip the scythe as his hands were moved he had forgotten his previous tension as he just focused on the positioning. He then felt a finger on his chest as he flinched a bit not from pain, just from the awkward nature of being poked there. He heard the sensei said he should move back and aim the blade to the left as he noticed it was much easier to hold the weapon now. Though he did not realise his main mistake at first was simply from being taken by surprise and his body was adjusting itself subconsciously as they continued. He felt his balance drop a bit as he lowered his stance slightly by spreading his legs a bit further apart.

He noticed that he could balance himself by leaning a bit to the opposite side of the blade as well as the fact that it was not as heavy as he had thought at first. He then heard him mention something about a sword arm extension technique and that scythes could not be used for that and had only two styles. He listened and his mind interpreted offense as referring to him attacking and the keep away as the defense, which actually seemed similar to using swords however the biggest difference was in how it was done.

His heart began racing as the blade stopped very close to his chest, his heart was beating wildly and he heard his sensei mention something about there was no way he could get close to him and that he had to keep a tight grip to finish. In the heat of the moment he took a step forward and swung the scythe putting all his weight into it as he was in a somewhat confused state since he had not built the level of trust with his sensei where he could take things which appear life threatening lightly as he swung all out the swing missing completely as the sensei dodged skilfully as the boy's eyes were half dazed as if he was unconscious. The form he used then was similar to the one used just now and due to his heightened senses at the point of fear he seemed to have gotten the hang of the swing before he calmed down and fell to the side from the sudden regaining of consciousness as he performed his first swing of the scythe.

"Sensei, did I do it right?", as he said this not sure what had happened.

Skye was facing forward, but his eyes tracked the movement of the scythe. The form wasn’t bad, but the fact that Elin had lost focus on his swing was a bit of an issue. There was a recurring theme with Elin that Skye seemed to pick up on. He seemed to hesitate and be a bit soft. Though being soft wasn’t exactly a bad thing, the hesitation was certainly something that needed to be dealt with. With his quick thoughts put on hold, Skye stared as the blade came closer and closer. Seeing where it was headed, he inched back very slightly as it sliced right by him. The follow through was decent, but the finish was a bit off. Elin seemed to stumble as the weight of the weapon took him off balance.

Skye tilted his head slightly and chuckled. “Yeah, not bad. Came a bit close, but not bad. Just, make sure you pay attention to where it’s going. If you zone out like you just did-” Bringing a hand up, he made the motion of something slicing his neck. Following the motion, Skye closed his eyes, dropped his head, and made a very distinct ‘bleh’ sound. “Dead.” He shook his head and bent over to place his scythe down. “So! On to the next bit of training!” Skye clapped his hands together and grinned. He was obviously excited about the second part of his training. He had never tried this tactic before, but he heard from many others that it was an excellent tool for training. Putting his hands together and focusing his chakra, he began a somewhat long stream of hand signs. His fingers rapidly forming the jutsu, he let out a sharp exhale upon finishing. Two clones of Skye appeared next to him, each looking exactly identical to him.

“Offense. Me and my clones will be defending, while you are going to come at me with the scythe.” Each of the Skye’s seemed to reach behind them and grab a kunai. They each spin the kunai with a bit of style before gripping the handle. “I have to warn you though. If you happen to hit one of my clones, you’re going to have to back up a good bit. They tend to… well… explode into electricity when hit. It ups the ante a little, but I’m sure it’s nothing you can’t handle.” The clones started to move, but the real Skye paused a moment. “Oh, and to sweeten the deal, if you can hit me or the clones enough times, I’ll treat you to some dinner. Sound good?” He seemed completely honest about the dinner, and was actually looking forward to getting to know Elin a little more. But brining his attention back to the upcoming spar, Skye knew perfectly well that his clones could easily avoid getting hit by whatever Elin could throw at them. This tactic wasn’t used to intimidate, but more so to worry or motivate Elin. Hesitation would be his downfall, and Skye was going to try and break him from that habit. Gently, of course.

Skye and his two clones seemed to mix up before getting set up in different positions around Elin. Each of them took a defensive stance and seemed to watch Elin rather closely. He would use his more advanced speed to get the upper hand on his student, and possibly even counter any of his attacks. Once Elin would get moving, one of the three Skyes would give advice and try to help Elin improve on his use of the weapon.

His sensei told him it was not that bad, as he looked down feeling he failed to some degree as he was told to pay attention and not zone out again as his sensei made some slicing off head dead joke as he giggled a bit on the inside, but blushed which showed that he found it a little bit funny at least.

He watched his sensei place his scythe down and clapped his hands with a strange grin on his face. He watched his sensei who seemed focused on something before performing a bunch of hand signs really quickly as he was not sure as he gripped the scythe and lowered it to his left. He watched as his sensei created two clones as the boy felt this was getting a bit serious as he prepared himself.

He was told he would have to attack all the Skye's and they each grabbed a kunai in each of their hands as he kept his focus remembering that the real Skye was in the middle and the two extra Skye's were next to him on each side. They all showed off a bit as he took out a kunai too swung it around as well before gripping it tightly behind him. He was about to attack as he took one step forward when his sense spoke and said if he hits one of the clones they will explode so he has to back up quite a bit if he does hit them. He felt a bit hesitant as he began thinking of a plan to get passed that, but he figured he will find a way when he gets a hit first.

He was given further incentive in the form of getting food if he gets in enough good hits as his focus changed completely after that was mentioned. The fact that there was no offer to take anything if he lost meant his sensei felt he was not good enough to land a hit on him. He watched them running around as he kept track of them, the only thing he could still tell was that the main one was there, but he figured the clones would be a big problem since he was not sure how these clones worked. Things seemed okay but he was starting to lose track of them as he took a deep breath as he focused into his weapon and then lowered his stance a bit more then usual.

"Aaaaaah!!!!!!!!!!!", he shouted out for no reason at all as he swung the blade hard taking an in step towards one of the skyes with the slash swinging low to high aiming to hit two of the skies as his weapon began to have a white glow as a white trail was left on the slash path. Regardless of what happened he would take a second step to pivot and spin around firing a large massive white trail wave at the third Skye who he left alone as this attack had a wide area of around a 1m radius and at this close range would be nearly impossible to dodge without some special technique. He was planning to take out the clone and destroy the after effect with it.

He then whispered the name of his secret technique. "Shiroi Ejji", which meant white edge.
