Brrrrrrrriiiiiiiinnnnnnnggggggg

Suutei arose like a vampire at nightfall, awakening from his coffin to the sound of 5th period bell.  Suutei stretched his arms upwards before getting to his feet.  As usual he was hidden within an area of his school to rest.  Suutei stood to his feet picking up his pillow or rather his messenger bag, though as a pillow was pretty much its only purpose.  Suutei hoisted the bag around his shoulder and adjusted his sport coat, then began navigating through the mass of students to the gymnasium.  Besides his 7th period class, P.E. was a class he enjoyed it kept him in shape for his ninja duties. Traveling down three flights of stairs to ground level, where the gymnasium was located he had an unpleasant encounter.  Haseo Umiwara, never has Suutei despised someone so much the guy was his polar opposite, he was against everything he stood for.  Though the encounter could have been violent Suutei opted not to act.  The gymnasium had the schools mascot painted in the middle of the basketball court and at the end of the baseline straight ahead was the boys locker room.  Suutei took slow stride across the maple hardwood floors of the gymnasium approaching the locker room.

10 minutes later...

Rushing out in stampedes from the locker room like wild hogs Suuteis’ male peers took place lined up across the baseline, parallel to the girls on the other end of the court.  Suutei exited the locker room and fell in line to the far right with the rest of his peers.  Suutei looked across the court to the other baseline where the girls stood, stretching, and bickering as usual.  Gossiping about the lot of males that were far more masculine than Suutei, who really didn’t care his size was normal.  Suutei already had blue hair and blue eyes, he rather preferred not to possess blue veins sticking out of his neck and forehead just when he spoke.  Taking a glance to his left he saw the gym teacher exiting his office, as the door slammed he made his presence known to the others.  [b]”Alright boys and girls!  As you know its Friday that means our activity today will be Team Sports.  Today’s sport of my choice will be Tennis, Doubles, 5 Game Matches.  You all have 5 minutes to find your partner.  Oh and before I forget this will be a small tourney.  So we will play till their are only 2 pairs left they will play for an excused absence good for all of next week."  Suuteis’ eyes gleamed this could benefit him well he could practice his techniques and develop new ones as well.  Suutei only had one problem...all the males despised him and he loathed the females.  What would he do…

As the selection of partners slimmed the chances of him succeeding also did. Suutei had no other choice but to partner with the person he hated in the entire school. "Suutei huh...guess I have no choice " In comparison to Suutei, Haseo was a bit taller by maybe two inches. They both shared the same build in muscle and body shape. Even their hairstyles were similar though Haseo's was a very light grey and the hair behind his bangs were blown back. After closely examining Haseo, it was the first time Suutei noticed their similarities. Still their thinkings were opposite except for this very moment. "Well at this point, I would assume neither of us have the option. Now lets not be cliche and win this thing then, realize we were meant to be best friends." Suutei came off a bit cold towards Haseo, but its not as if he would be happy to be Suuteis' friend. Suutei didn't plan on him to either. The Gym brought out the Tennis rackets and set them in everyones view. Suutei knew the whole reason for today's choice of sport, and was sure Haseo knew as well. "I'm sure you're aware why today the choice sport is Tennis. Well just in case I'll explain, Tennis season is approaching and this school is the worst. So each gym class the teacher is really scouting our strengths and weaknesses in the sport." Haseo being slightly more informed than him, Suutei shared the same assumption. The gym teacher blew his whistle and it echoed throughout the building. "Alright! Everyone take a racket and stand with your partner."

The gym floor began to illuminate a neon blue hue as the lights dimmed. Suutei was a bit impressed as the lights were arranged in the shape of a tennis court, and everyone's clothes were glowing the same color as the court. "Okay first match Kimura Suutei & Kurama Haseo VS Bijuki Ovan & Trinomi Kira. Take your places on the court." As if this did not spell a set up, the two most athletic boy's in the class against two people who are enemies forced to work together. Suutei was surprised about Haseo it was the first time he heard his last name, he of the Kurama clan. Just like the Kimura they had gone incognito keeping a low profile within the village. Suutei thought maybe they were more alike than he assumed. Did Haseo feel the same...that wasn't important their challenge lay ahead. Suutei took the back as Haseo stepped up to the front left. "Hey Haseo!" The boy turned around as his bangs flicked to one side. Suutei giving a thumbs up after gaining his attention. "Work hard and don't worry, I got your back. In a haste Suutei served the ball into the air and swung the racket at the perfect angle, resulting in a top spin. First point of the game, Suutei was pumped. "Fifteen none Kimura & Kurama!" Good start for the enemies turned comrades, just so long as they are able to continue the effort.

1 hour later...

Filled with determination and adrenaline, the duo managed to be the last 4 students in the competition. The final pair were the two girls who were the best females on the Tennis Team. Adding insult to injury Suutei and Haseo were already tired. Unless they got some sort of magical stamina boost, they were going to get creamed. Suutei stepped to the front left square while Haseo served, his serve wasn't the best but they had no other choice. Suutei watched the two girls, attempting to analyze a potential fault they would make. Yet he could find nothing, by the time he realized it. They had already lost 2 games in a row, Haseo had become frustrated and so had Suutei. Haseo asked to take a twenty minute intervention, graciously the teacher granted his request. Haseo walked to the locker room and Suutei followed.

"I don't know anymore Suutei, these girls are too good as if their inhuman." Haseo exhausted trying to regain his strength, looked to Suutei. Suutei had to admit Haseo was right, these girls were tough. "Well if you're good at one thing it's stating the obvious. So I have a plan, we have to get them working against themselves." Suutei explained further what he meant exactly. There was no guarantee his plan would succeed, but this was their one and only opportunity. Suutei and Haseo proceeded out of the locker room and back outside to the court.

Taking their positions on the court, Haseo and Suutei with a new found confidence faced their 2 opponents. "Haseo serve!" Haseo tossed the ball into the air and smashed it with the rack. The green and blue ball bounced just shy of the fault line, and through the girls legs. "Fifteen, none Kimura & Kurama!" The coached noted the score and tossed Haseo a ball, breathing lightly bouncing the ball. Suutei could almost feel his anxiety, as the ball sliced through the air overhead. The girl swatted the ball back, and Suutei attempted a chip shot near the side of the left square. The ball went back over the net, and bounced barely to the right of the line. "30, none Kimura and Kurama.

45 minutes later...

The final game of the match the score, 40 to 30. One more point they would succeed, and be claimed the winners. The girl wiped the sweat from her brow before serving the ball with speed and power. Suutei swung his racket, but missed Haseo dived with his racket sending the ball back over the net. The girl up front used Suuteis' earlier tactic, and he had to counter. Suutei with a strong backhand swing, hit the ball high above the court towards the rear girl. The girl waited for the bounce, Suutei was hoping for a miracle. The ball bounced and the swung girl and made the worst error ever. She missed. Suutei stood up with a smile on his face, and looked over his shoulder giving Haseo a thumbs up. "Told ya we got this." Haseo chuckled and the lights came back on, and the neon lights powered off. Suutei was pretty happy with their results, two enemies turned friends through a game of tennis. Suutei muttered under his breath, "How cliche."
