Setting

It was a bright sunny day, illuminating the whole village, and leaving the town in intense heat. It was roughly eighty-or-so degrees, and it was shown by the community. Ice cream stalls were set out, children outside in shirtsleeve shirts, shorts, and sandals. Some families were in their own little yards having picnics, others were playing with water from the hose, and the parents were tending to their gardens. It was a beautiful day indeed, and the positive aura was present on this 3 O' clock afternoon.

The main focus of this story was in one of the cul-de-sac's, this one was in the eastern part of the village, and a large stone built fountain was in the center of it. It had a main circular pool, with a built up pillar in the center of this fountain. The pillar rose roughly seven feet tall into the air which shot out four off spraying streams of water into the main body of water below. Birds were swimming in the water, kids were sitting on the side of the fountain, and parents were close by to make sure they didn't take a dip.

Around the cul-de-sac there were about eight different metal benches which could seat roughly four people give or take. On one of these benches there was a long wavy haired boy sitting there reading a pamphlet, his brown hair was noticeable, but the orange hues were showing due to the brightness of the day. He had a serious, carefree expression on his face, and seemed intrigued by his literature. If anyone got close they could spot his crystal-blue eyes, but from any distance they could see his attire. The boy was wearing a short-sleeve black shirt, with a tied green hoodie around his waist. The two long sleeves were knotted together at his waist keeping a firm grip to his black baggy pants.

Lelouch was spotted walking the streets of Konohagakure No Sato.  With this walking stick that was leading his way, and his dark shade glasses that hidden his crimson gaze. He would be dressed in his usual attire today. But due to the hot whether outside, Lelouch was only wearing his, black jean shorts, with a white tank top. And some sandals..

With nothing that was really going on today, but the hot whether, Lelouch thought he would go visit the cul-de-sac. Walking at a calm pace. He would be enjoying the heat. Watching the little kids run around, and their parents chasing them. And some attending their own business, it was just one of those laid back days for Lelouch.

After a few moments of walking, he man would reach his destination point....tap.. tap...tap The man walking stick would hit against this hard medal object. Holding his left hand out, he would raise up his glasses and notice a bench. With his left hand. He would pull his self up, and take a seat. Folding up his walking stick. He would continue this lovely day.

While waiting for some attention. He would enjoy the sound of natural habitat... Listening to the birds sing and the kids that was laughing, and enjoying their time on this hot day.

With both hands that was firmly placed on his lap. And his walking stick that was located in his front right pocket. He would place his glasses on the top of his head. Showing his pure white eyes... It was normal but awkward for some people to ask Lelouch why he use a walking stick. But it was just Lelouch being crazy...

During the hot sun that was beating down on her skin, Ember was walking through the park and random paths of Konoha. She was simply walking around, and tripping over random things in her path because she was unable to see what they were or where they were in front of her. Her biggest issue with herself being blind. She never did appreciate the younger kids, and adults for that matter, not picking up after themselves and leaving random bits of trash and other....objects around for her to step on and/or trip over. And the hot sun beating down on her wasn't helping one bit; in fact, it was making her want to stop at a spot and cool off for a bit, as she never did well in heated areas for very long.

She then decided in the most random place for herself to go to and started walking. She didn't even know where she was going, only that she was walking randomly, and hoping she wouldn't trip over anything else, 'cause that would suck if she did. She opened her arms out slightly in her worry of keeping herself from falling, and was glad she had on her cooler clothes so she wouldn't overheat too much. What with her simply red tank top and white shorts with her shorts sandals, she was actually feeling a bit better than she probably would have been if she was wearing her normal Kunoichi outfit which would have suffocated her to no end.

What surprised her was when she suddenly felt soft grass under her feet, and could hear random kids playing around her. "Oh my....this place is different that I thought it would be. Did I take a wrong turn?" She mumbled to herself, turning this way and that while searching for the way she came.

She had even started clicking her tongue a little, to try and make at least some sort of headway of where she would be, and where she could go....but spotting nothing of those sorts, she sighed and turned around to head further in the direction she was walking. She was even thinking to herself along the way of asking someone to guide her in the right direction at some point. Except....her only issue? She felt how soft the grass was underneath her sandals and just knew a nap would need to be placed. So she knelt down and felt around her, spotting a sidewalk beside her and a hard metal bench, which slightly surprise her. Then she shrugged it off and turned to lay on her back, feeling the sun beating down on her face. She closed her eyes with a small smile, wrapping her arms around the back of her head to cradle it while she started her small nap.

The Uzumaki was reading through the little articles on the pamphlet, but seemed uninterested at this point. The boy's attention was on his literature, and surroundings. Occasionally he glanced up to peer at individuals which caught his eyes. Some children trying to reenact heroic feats, kids playing with bokken, and even clan members spending family time together.  That's when the boy spotted a figure with sun glasses, a cane, and touching the area in front of himself. "Is...he blind?" he whispered to himself, gathering a basic assessment, and stood up.

It was someone who took his attention in full, and he walked on over as the blind shinobi sat down. "Hello there...." his voice was friendly, obviously a bit shy, and hesitant at first. Daichi had never talked to someone who was blind, or even held a conversation. It wasn't long before someone else wandered on over to the same bench that the blind man sat in, and she seemed to have a incredibly similar problem. //They both are blind?// thinking to himself, looking back and forth; bewildered.

Noticing a boy approaching him, Lelouch would sigh and stand up. " hm." He would then jump off the bench, and walk away. With both hands in his pockets, Leouch would simply walk away from the scene. It was just some place he didn't want to be at the time. But with other thing's on his mind, he rather go over to the ramen bar. Perhaps get some food. Head back over to his apartment and relax .

Opening her eyes, Ember tried looking around her, even though she of all people knew she couldn't see anything. Still, the feeling of her eyes being open and the awareness her other senses gave her, plus her echolocation gave her the almost familiarity of having sight again. That's what she always loved about her ability to use her echolocation. For the most part, she couldn't not see where things were...but with her forgetfulness and her just plain unwillingness to use said echolocation, she ended up getting more scratches than she was okay with. That must've been why she seemed to be fairly decent in her healing abilities of scratches and cuts along herself.

And at that thought, she sat up immediately and checked herself for scratches or cuts of any kinds because even in her sleep she was a klutz. Though, apparently something was in her favor because she had felt nothing along the lines of scratch marks or cuts she'd have gathered from being in a tree or somewhere similar. Good thing too, she probably didn't have the energy, or the motivation to heal herself at the moment. So instead of that, she stood up and felt her way to the bench with a small click here and there.

Daichi felt rather disrespected by this person who walked away smugly, and just left the cul-de-sac all together. It was unusual for him to get such a negative react, considering he was gentle, and usually friendly. The sorrow was short-lived when someone who was actually blind made her way to the bench, sat down, and didn't seem to take much attention to him. "Today is quite the unusual day..." he spoke in a soft tone to the girl, sitting down for himself, and keeping his gaze at the water fountain.

Uzumaki were known for their vibrant personalities, and usually were extremely noble when it came to morals. It was a fine lineage in the making, and they were given an incredible aptitude for their intelligence; sometimes. The world was a unique abstract painted picture to him, and it never ceased. A young man who loved to meet new people, and see the beauty in everything that made up this reality they called life.

After she sat down she faintly heard someone's quiet voice talking to her. She flicked her ear in the direction and tilted her head slightly with a small click of her tongue again. She then turned her full attention to the person sitting beside her, probably looking away from her like most do. "Oh, why yes it is....you have no idea." She replied with a small grin, looking away and stretching, before resting her arms behind her head.

She sighed and closed her eyes again with a small smile, still enjoying the feeling of the sun because she wasn't having to walk around and take the heat beating down on her moving limbs. That's what she never liked doing......having to deal with walking in the heat. It was probably why she was so pale, seeing as she had to walk to her destination just to laze about in the sun.....never fun.

Daichi noticed the different measures she took to react compared to the normal person, a clicking of the tongue, and obviously leading her attention by sound than visuals. It was a nice day indeed, and only pleasurable to those who liked heated days rather than the cold ones. "The name is Daichi Uzumaki, it's nice to meet you....?" he paused at the end of his greeting to wait to find out her name.

The Chuunin hasn't exactly met many people in this village yet besides those who he had run missions with previously, and now this girl. It was his task to get to know many people, and make friends. In the end of the doay that's what really mattered in life, and that's what pushed him everyday. As a shinobi of the Hidden Leaf, he was supposed to serve and protect these people....

Through the course of his journey he would hopefully find a partner or two he could work with on the fields, and hopefully increase suitability. Let alone survival rates, and mission successes. It was mainly about his job, but hopefully he could compare in the end to the rest of the ninja that dotted this village.

Ember blinked at hearing him speak and turned slightly to him. "Aahh, helloooo there Daichi Uzumaki. I'm Ember Mist Hinode! You can call me Ember though." She replied with a grin, holding out her hand in case he wanted to try and shake hands with her.

She always made it a thing that whenever someone was willing to speak with her that she'd be willing to talk with as much enthusiasm and charisma as she could, because she was an odd one that seemed very outspoken compared to what she probably could be. Seeing as Ember was never really around people, she seemed like an introverted person; until you tried talking with her. That was just the way she was; one minute extremely silent, and the next the loudest and happiest person you could meet!

They shake progressed as Daichi had extended his hand to meet hers, and shake gently twice. "It's a pleasure, Ember." he politely added before taking his hand back. "So what brings you to this area of the village?" his curiosity was showing from the questions, and obviously was intrigued by this girl. "I don't blame you none-the-less, it's a rather beautiful area...and this fountain is gorgeous...." adding in for possible reasons as to what brought this fellow shinobi to the cul-de-sac.

There they were, two shinobi sitting together at a bench in this large circle. Children playing, siblings fighting, and families enjoying the day. Who knows, but to them it was solely their own story progressing at this point. A magnificent way to look at things truthfully, and who knows what this could branch off to. Ten years from now they could be successful partners, rivals, or....possibly even enemies. The options were endless, but it seemed to have things pointing in a positive direction. It was all a matter of what trials life had in store for them, and how their mentality would handle such.

Ember blinked her blind eyes and clicked slightly while looking around with a small smile. "Honestly? I have no idea.....I may be able to see some things for the most part, like you're general silhouette and everything. But I can't see 10 feet in front of me. I really didn't even know where I was until I felt grass and heard kids playing everywhere." She said with a sheepish grin, scratching the back of her head again after she took her hand back.

She could tell this guy was curious, so she'd let him ask all the questions he wanted until he was satisfied with what he got. She wasn't a complete shut in as most people think when first seeing her. She probably would have done the same thing if their positions were switched and she saw a random blind person moving around in the cul-de-sac like she had been. Her curiosity would have piqued beyond what people were probably expecting.

Answers were thrown into the air as the two conversed about practically anything. At the moment it was a topic about her interests in this fine location, but it seemed she was lead here by pure destiny. "Ah...so how do you know where you are going? I suppose that's a find analogy to life...due to the metaphorical term to the reality we live in being purely uncertain." the Uzumaki mustered a genius reply, giving off a pure happy smile. The boy shifted in his seat, obviously uncomfortable in his previous position, and now laid his right leg onto his left.

He leaned back, releasing a sigh, and inhaling a deep enjoyable breath. How good was it to be able to breathe in some of the best air anyone could imagine? A village surrounded by trees for miles, and it seemed like it was a never ending sanctuary. "I recommend using your chakra to see....it can do magnificent things, and I believe anything is possible with this gift we possess....." adding in to his original reply, throwing a suggest towards her interests.

She chuckled at his reply and nodded her head, leaning it back slightly and stretching with a small groan at feeling her body pop back into place. She then sat back up and crossed her left leg over her right while resting her hands behind her head. "I wish I could use my chakra to help see.....But I don't think that's how it works with chakra...otherwise I'd have done it ages ago. She said softly, stretching her neck side to side and sighing quietly.

She then felt the sun's slight different change in placement and clicked quietly, noticing some different people were walking around instead of the kids running and playing everywhere. She tilted her head in confusion while clicking to understand all that was happening around her, as her curiosity got the best of her

Thoughts traveled through the Uzumaki's mind as he considered the scenario. "I'm sure it might not give your vision back...but it could give you other capabilities to compensate. An enhancement if you will...." his voice was firm, and determined. That's one thing Daichi never did was tell someone to give up, or just let up. It was always a hundred percent for those around him, and motivation was a key prime. The boy didn't want to mislead anyone, and to himself...he'd have his own trouble following the advice.

It was always a fault of his, and so was everyone else...but if he could steer people to do their best, then he would. "The moment you tell yourself you can't do something, you've immediately lost hope, Ember...." again his voice surged with passion. The boy had leaned forward to stand up at this point, standing straight, and his posture was strong. That's when he outstretched his his arms to his sides, opening his palms, and reaching outwards like he was trying to grab something."This world we live in....it's ours. All of it. We are given things, but that doesn't mean we are forced to use them a certain way! We can do anything, Ember. Absolutely anything. I plan to change this world! One day...." an absolute statement was shot from his mouth, fueled with an inner fire, and strength could be sensed in it.

The wind started to pick up, whipping past the two of them, and forcing his hair to sway to the left. The long locks of hair would shift gentle as would his clothes, tied hoodie around his waste, and baggy pants. Life...was simply incredible.

Ember blinked in surprise and tilted her head at the sound of his firm voice, telling her not to give up what she could do to help her sight. She then started chuckling softly and nodded her head at his statement. "Ha, yeah, I guess you're right. But it's a lot harder than you'd think....especially when I'm just a weak Mednin at the moment." She said quietly, leaning her head back and sighing to herself with a small shake of her head.

She wasn't normally this realistic and down, but the thought of being able to see or heighten her senses almost frightened her.....and made her stop to think what would happen if she was able to see or do certain things again that she can't anymore.

Daichi turned to look at her as he lowered his arms back to his sides, and stuffed them into his pants pockets. The boy shook his head, obviously disapproving of something; "It's not a fault to believe in possibilities, and it's even worse to lower yourself. A realistic view is an imaginary thing, but rather you are what you believe. The key is to never underestimate those around you, because you have NO idea what someone is capable of. You do know, however...what you are capable of, Ember..do you not?" he stated once more, giving her more things to think about, and loved making people ponder the world around them.

Advice was a prime in his eyes, and he marveled at what others could do. Even the simplest of techniques were legendary, mainly because of how widely used they were, but the truly fascinating ones were the abilities that defied logic. An ability of the Uzumaki could summon the 'Death Reaper' and seal someones soul away forever. How incredible was that? It was extreme incomprehensible at best, and he'd never be able to hope to use that technique anytime soon...let alone want to.

Ember Mist

D-rank
Ember chuckled and leaned forward, resting her elbows on her knees. "Believe me I know that. My old sensei's used to try and teach me that all the time...but it never worked. It's not that I don't believe in myself or what I'm capable of...I just know I'm not capable yet. I'm not strong enough. But I will be someday....and hopefully I'll be strong enough as to be an asset on one of the strongest med teams there could be in Konoha, because that's what I want to be. Not the leader.....just a large asset of the leader." She said with a small smile, dreaming of when that day would come.

The reply made plenty of sense, and of course Daichi was just creating an inner stimulant at that point. It was a generally deceased artform that people see the world in multicolor displays, and not the usual black-white portrayal. It was good to see someone rather different, especially with such a disability, but not letting it grasp their mental stability. "Ah...I see now." his voice was clear, and understanding. The wind whipped by once more in the opposite direction, coming from the left now, and creating a gentle cool breeze which wrapped around the both of them.

"I myself have goals as well, and things I have a hard time believing I can obtain. I do know it's a matter of time, however. If I don't reach those things...I will have never lived my dream."

Ember Mist

D-rank
She smiled in his direction and nodded vigorously before standing up to stand beside him, holding her hand out to shake again. "Then looks like it's settled. The BOTH of us will fight for our dreams...whoever gets there first shall be congratulated with food from whatever restaurant they want. Deal?" She suggested with a large grin, hoping he would follow along and agree with her suggestion.

It would be a nice thought, something to motivate her, and hopefully him, if he agreed to what she proposed. That way both of them would try and work harder to reach their goals, and if they were lucky, still keep in touch to prove their progress in which they've come from.

A deal was struck, and almost seemed like a fiery motivation was challenging his own. Daichi was fueled by such intent, and the hand that was placed outwards was met with his. The boy gripped it firmly, shaking, and taking it back. "Food, aye? Fair enough. We also get to pick the location...winner chooses." he said with a competitive tone, obviously added to the stakes. It was nice to meet his first friend, and actually seemed to get along. Who knew this is how the irony of life worked...but it always did work it's wonders.

The day was starting to wear thin, and the sun was beginning to set. The sky turned a nice orange hue, dimming on the light, and that same hue flowed over the village. They had been sitting there talking for a few hours now, and it seemed the boy had gotten a nice tan while he was outside.

Ember grinned and nodded her head in response quickly, clicking quietly to see his silhouette which had grabbed onto her hand and shook it. She had officially made her first friend...and they had struck their first deal. It was a feat in itself for her as she wasn't one to make friends quickly and/or efficiently. But this one should work well. It should work out in the end for the both of them, it'll keep them working hard, hopefully.

She felt the change in air temperature and could feel the sun rays start growing colder. She almost shivered before clicking her tongue and trying to look around. "Seems like it's getting to that time of "watching the sunset"." She said with a chuckle, lifting her head up to the sky with a sigh and smile.

She always did like sitting on her rooftop and feeling the changing of the temperatures from day to night. It made her feel like she could almost see the sun setting, and it wouldn't necessarily hurt her eyes in anyway because she wouldn't actually be seeing anything.
