Learning jutsus, creating them and testing them in reality was one of the things Risu actually loved doing. Ever since she was a child, she had been immersed in the way of the shinobi, with her parents and her godfather Enaka helping her harness the powerfull jutsu bestowed upon the heads of the Ouroboros clan.

They also helped her with her elemental training and the knowledge and insight of the human body, so she could utilize her clan's most fearsome jutsu: the Hardening Snakescale Jutsu.

This day it wasn't all that different, as she decided to work on the jutsus she had written down on paper for herself, determing if they were within the reach of her current skills as well if they wouldn't ask for too much effort.

With that in mind, she had already derived the mud bullet technique from the hardening mudsnake jutsu she knew since she was a child, but now she had planned for two jutsu which were quite necessary for her arsenal of jutsu, to ensure she would be able to hold her own against the other genin of her generation, especially those of the Uchiha clan, who were almost always revered as the prodigies of the village at great dismay of the other clans.

Having chosen the jutsu she wanted to train, the young kunoichi made her own lunch and bought a few bottles of cold green tea at the teahouse down the street of her appartment, before heading off to the training grounds of her village, where she would not rest until she had those jutsu firmly under her control.

The first one she wanted to try was the mud clone jutsu, which she deemed most important for her own fightingstyle, as she always relied on combination attacks, preferring long and mid range jutsu over close range and close combat.

Molding her chakra just like she would to make a water clone, Risu tried to gradually infuse it with her doton element, after which she performed the handseals which she had derived to be the correct ones for that technique, yet with her first try, it seemed that the stability of the doton infused chakra was far below the necessary quality needed for that rather complex jutsu, resulting in a hardly human formed, way too obvious misfit clone, which she quickly dispelled due to it's lack of strength to even hold itself together for a prolonged period of time, just by looking at that first try, Risu knew this was absolutely not going to be an easy task.

"No problem," The young woman sighed rather elated after dispelling her first failed mudclone. "I've got no missions to do today, so I've got plenty of time to perfect that jutsu...I hope."

Sitting on a tree stump, the young kunoichi tried to figure out what exactly had gone wrong, looking over the entire process of the jutsu in her mind, deriving from all her past experiences that it was most likely a combination of insuficiently infused and molded chakra as well as the control exerted over the chakra. Risu also denoted that she might have been using to little of an amount of chakra to maintain the mud clone in a stabilised state.

Sighing softly, tired of thinking everything through, the girl decided to go ahead for another try, yet again molding a decent amount of chakra, yet raising the infusion of doton energy within it before she performed the necessary handseals to make the jutsu work.

When the clone appeared, she gave a little kirring sound of pleasure, as she was more than pleased with the result. The mud clone in this second try was vastly superior to her first try, as it had taken her form completely, right down to every detail, like the small scar on her left pinky, where she had cut herself when she was but a mere todler trying to make a bento for her father.

The only thing that did not please her was the fact that her chakra output to maintain that clone was way to high, so she started lowering the amount until the clone would turn into a pile of mud, so she would know exactly what amount she had to continuously pump into the clone to maintain its form and stability.

When she had been able to figure out that part of the jutsu, she performed it for a third and last time, while this time keeping the amount of chakra output at the bare minimum that was needed to maintain both the form and stability of the clone for at least five minutes, after which she, pleased with the results, dispelled the mud clone to take a break with her bento and a bottle of cold green tea to replenish her energy.

"One down, two to go, Risu chuckled quite content with the results of her training, certain that if she would manage to maintain this level of progress, she would get her promotion to Chuunin in no time, something which would make her uncle Enaka very proud, not to mention herself.

Having eaten half of her bento and drunk one of the bottles of cold green tea completely, Risu decided to continue her ardeous training with the second of the three jutsu she wanted to get under her belt. Though usually learning jutsu needed more time, in this case she had the luck that they were all similar to other jutsu she already knew, like the water slash jutsu she wanted to tackle now, since this one was basically the next step of her water whip jutsu and as such also needed the water whip jutsu to be performed before she could be able to perfect this one.

Doing as such, the young kunoichi performed the handseals for the water whip jutsu, after which long whiplike appendages made out of clear water formed on her arms.

Because the water slash jutsu simply needed more chakra and a better chakra control than the water whip jutsu, it was in theory not so difficult to perfect, though reality always proved to be a different story, just as it was the case now, as Risu lunged aside with her arms, one after the other, she could not force the water to detach from her arms and be thrown as a projectile through the air, not even after a second and third try, in which she even managed to get one of the water whips lashing on her back, ripping open her shirt and causing her to have a long bruise on her left shoulderblade.

"This isn't as easy as I thought it would be," The girl sighed, after dispelling her water whip jutsu and painstakingly rubbing her shoulders, feeling the stinging pain of failure on the skin of her back and left shoulderblade."Maybe it was a good thing not to wear my best clothes for this."

Having waited for a dozen minutes, Risu attempted to try that water slash jutsu again, by performing the handseals from her water whip jutsu yet again, but this time trying to add more chakra to it and slightly losen the bonds of the chakra within the whiplike appendages, so they would be easier to break off and to be send flying as a projectile, like she intended it to happen.

Swinging with her arms again, this time she seemed to make serious progress, with the water indeed detaching itself from her arms, yet to the young woman's frustration, the water did not travel far, thus showing that she had still a long way to go before this technique would be under control.

Yet again, Risu tried to throw the water in sharp projectiles for a second and third time, with the water simply flying off her arms, but landing a few meters ahead with a splash, rather than cutting through the air like a scythe or a sickle, yet when she thought about just those two farming tools, she finally understood the mistake she had been making all along: loosening the bonds of the chakra wasn't necessary over the entire whiplike appendage, only on the place where it had to break off, while the chakra should've been compressed over the rest of the appendage, so it would actually fly away in the way she wanted the water to soar through the sky.

Again she tried to perform the water whip jutsu, the water slowly crawling down her arms like a slithering snake, until it reached the tips of her fingers, after which the water quickly flowed out into two long appendages that looked exactly like a whip.

Risu fully concentrated on the chakra bonds within the water, which shuddered softly when the girl adjusted the bonds with great subtility, strengthening the appendages all over, except for a small part of it in the middle.

Sighing deeply, The young kunoichi slowly started moving her arms from left to right and from right to left in a soft, swaying motion, gradually speeding up the movement until she suddenly lashed out with both arms, sending two sickle formed projectiles through the air, hitting a tree not far away from her own position.

Quickly, the young woman ran toward the tree to see the result of her jutsu, being quite pleased with the fact that the two projectiles had left some distinct marks on the tree, having graced, yet not cut the treebark.

Pleased, but not yet fully content, Risu looked upon those marks, realising that she had indeed greatly improved the performance of the jutsu, but not quite perfected it, as she hoped to at least reach a state with the water slash jutsu, in which the sickles would be able to do some serious damage to living tissue, though it would be softer than treebark, the girl still doubted that in its current state the jutsu would do anything more than mere papercuts.

So yet again, the young kunoichi prepared herself again, this time being a little faster with the creation of the parent jutsu: the water whip technique, after which she started swaying her arms from right to left and from left to right again.

However, unlike earlier, she did not unleash the sickle-formed projectiles one after the other, but at the same time, throwing her arms down simultaniously in a diagonal fashion, after which the weakened bonds in the whiplike appendages broke off and send two projectiles flying through the air.

With a crashing sound, some treebark broke off of the same tree as earlier, leading to a quite curious Risu hopping towards that tree to see the results of the jutsu with her own eyes, only to smile contently when noticing that the sickles had cleanly cut through the tree's bark, ensuring her that when she'd use this jutsu on a living being, only decent armor would withold the sharpness of this jutsu.
