Wingale

Wingale

Mission:

Shinobi Talk*

Oh, this time he will be better, it is right up his alley.

But c'mon, after that last performance he deserves way worse. He literally enjoys talking and helping people. It should be something like... manual labor, you know, like cleaning the docks or cleaning the weapons shop.

You got a point. Well, you know the higher ups treat him differently, being from the famed Osada clan and all.

Typical... I can't believe it, here he comes.

-----

Two Days Ago

Wingale sat patiently as he waited for his employer's return. He asked for one of Kiri's finest. However, at the time of the request most of the higher ranked shinobi were too busy, leaving but a Genin... Osada, Wingale. Despite being a last resort, he was still flattered that he was favored over the remaining pool. The bringer of boil's navy blue bowtie showcased Wingale's overly formal choice of clothing. From his beige dress pants he took out a cloth to clean his silver framed glassed that matched his hair.

As time ticked, the moment weighed on him. The task at hand seemed to become more and more out of his reach. Mr. Baja walked back into the small office. It was a plain room with only a clear desk and a few file cabinets. "Some employees of mine had an issue... incompetency really upsets me... Are you going to upset me?" High expectations much, I'm just a Genin for goodness' sake. Wingale accidentally nodded his head "yes", "I mean, you can count on me to get the job done Sir." There was an unsettling pause, "We'll see."

The Genin now waited as Mr. Baja got situated in his chair. The employer slapped his hands on the desk in a matter of time fashion. "Ok, this is the assignment. I briefed the mission coordinators of the village but I will say it again: There have been a few shipments of mine that have not been arriving to their destinations. I need the matter investigated. Simple enough so far right. After that, I want the culprits killed. Scalp them, impale them, gouge them, burn them, torture them, or even drown them. But they must cease." Mr. Baja turned his chair to fetch something out of his file cabinet. While shuffling through files, "This will be done in 24 hours, I'll accept nothing less. You're dismissed."

Mr. Baja was the owner of a distribution company. He had offices all over the ninja world. He kept his quarters here in Kirigakure small as to avoid too much attention as he did in other villages with his over the top style. It seems though, that despite his low profile, he is still getting the attention of someone. And it was now Wingale's job to stop them.

Wingale had stopped at one of the local diners to get a bagel before he began his mission. As he sat down inside with his bagel in front of him he contemplated the best way to go about the assignment.

First of all I'll need stealth. If I'm going to find this guy or guys, I'll need tact. But... if I'm going to kill this guy or guys... I'll need a team, and quickly.

Wing spread the cream cheese across the bagel as he thought who he could get to assist him... I'll have to check the mission board to see who is available. The milky topping complemented the bagel so well, and his taste buds even more. He didn't however, have the time to truly savor the snack. He gulped down his orange Juice and marched off to the mission board.

This can't be... absolutely no one is available, no wonder I was chosen...

Wingale's pride faltered as the reality of the situation settled in. Born from the brevity of self-pity was a new found confidence. I can do this, I know I can! He puffed his chest out and exited the a roomy corridor.

------ 6 Hours Later-------

Wingale was lying on his back, beaten and bruised on a boat that was sailing back to the shore of Kirigakure. When Wingale, barely conscious, slid up to shore, he was met by a few of Kiri's more elite shinobi who must have returned during his little trip. They questioned him, asking how he came about his injuries. After explaining he was scolded for taking on such a task alone. The special Jounin and Chuunin took over the assignment and Wingale trudged to the hospital where he would stay the night.

It had been all the village could talk about, his failure. He was a bit nervous to show his face, but after a good night's sleep he decided not to be a coward and accept his failure and learn from it.

-----End of Flash Back [Present]

Oh, this time he will be better, it is right up his alley.

But c'mon, after that last performance he deserves way worse. He literally enjoys talking and helping people. It should be something like... manual labor, you know, like cleaning the docks or cleaning the weapons shop.

You got a point. Well, you know the higher ups treat him differently, being from the famed Osada clan and all.

Typical... I can't believe it, here he comes.

Wingale stride quickened as he recognized the guy and girl. They specialized in picking on Wingale every chance they got.

Why you in such a hurry Flappy?!

Wingale looked her right in her blue eyes... "I would chat, but I have a mission."

HAHAH. Yeah, we know. We also know that you actually choose fight instead of flight, bizarre, given your wings and all. I guess you should be excused for you disappointment as it was so far out of character in the first place.

HAHAH. Yeah! Bravery doesn't suit you. If we were in town we wouldn't have burdened you with such a task.

The two continue their jeers. Laughing hysterically at his expense. Wingale only sighed and pushed past them.

He was a few minutes from the academy... and all of a sudden he began to wonder if the academy students all knew of his blunder. If they did... it would definitely make this a much harder task than he anticipated.

Wingale entered the academy that not too long ago, he was an attendant. He shuffled through the hallways tracking down room number of the classroom he was to be in, for his... words of wisdom to the academy students. They would need them. Wingale was relatively inexperienced but he knew what he expected... and they would likely expect the same things. So what Wingale could offer was a reality check, a confirmation on what they were getting into. If they knew of his recent failure, they would also need to know that it came with the territory, and they would have to react like him, and swallow their pride and be willing to try again. Many shinobi either loss their lives in combat or through shame. They would have to be mentally prepared for the inevitable pain and loss that traditionally consumed most of the life a shinobi.

Alas, Wingale found the room. When he entered, a silence fell over the class. They gazed up at the formally dressed "shinobi". Wingale wasted no time. "Hello class, my name is Wingale and I am here to assist you all in your academy techniques and some important things about being a shinobi." The class was quite roomy, so he made the judgment that the space would be sufficient for any demonstrations.

... It had seemed that the 8 year olds hadn't heard of his mishap. Great, this should go by a lot smoother. Wingale began to loosen up now. "Alright, let us begin with Clone jutsu. First, you make the necessary hand seals, this is so you can build up enough chakra. The hand seals also help control the chakra. Then you expel the chakra outward. This is where the skill comes in... after releasing the chakra, you must manifest it into a perfect copy of yourselves. Ok, enough talk. Who wants to volunteer."

They got off to a rocky start, but the kids eventually got the hang of it. Wingale was able to make it through all the academy techniques. At the end, he gave them a small lecture on honor, bravery, and respect. It was the duty of shinobi to protect others, and if they couldn't accept that common requirement, they should change profession. Before exiting, he was thanked by the children and teacher. It brought a smile to his face, it seemed he indeed had a little wisdom he could bestow.
