Ptolemy
D-rank
The woods surrounding the great village of Konoha were tall and ageless. Hundreds of dangerous animals and plants sat in waiting for someone to stumble upon their location and attempt to survive. The trees had become a wall of defense for the village hidden in the leaves. Many warriors had breathed their last while looking up into the seemingly never-ending leaves. Knowledge of the area was essential for proper defense and tactical planning for the leaf Shinobi.
On this fine day, Ptolemy found himself mapping a portion of the forest for his village. Not only was the mission easy ryo, it also allowed him to get out of the village without having to do any real manual labor. The occasional cloud shaded the sun and a nice breeze made its way through the leaves. Making sure to take his time, Ptolemy sat in the upper branches of a tree as he drew careful lines on a pad of paper. The day had been pretty relaxing for the most part. He woke up early to train before starting his mission, and even got a pretty good workout in as well. For lunch he had packed an assortment of fruit, as well as a beef sandwich. Although it was a bit of a hike to his destination, once he made it, he was quite glad he had taken the mission.
After finishing his mapping of that area, Ptolemy stood up and began leaping through the branches. With a sudden burst of youthful energy he dove, with his arms spread eagle, straight for the ground. After tucking his legs and rolling in the air, he focused chakra in his hands and swung off of a branch, launching himself toward the sky. Reaching the peak of his flight, Ptolemy tucked into a backflip and landed on a new branch. Immediately, he leaped to the utmost branches of the tree and began to sketch the new area. One of his favorite parts of his current mission was his freedom to get the job done however he wanted to.
After continuing on and sketching a few more areas, Ptolemy found a clearing and practiced a few of his chakra control techniques for a while. It was a constant effort for him to keep his skills sharp, especially when he planned on being the best chakra control specialist in his clan. When he was finished practicing, Ptolemy found a new area and began sketching again.
Quickly becoming bored once again, he flipped to a blank page and began doodling, not only did he draw scenery, but he found himself dreaming about and drawing scenes of jutsu. Soon, he vowed, he would create his own jutsu, one strong enough to be remembered even after he was dead and gone. He drew pictures of birds that passed overhead, and the flowers that drew around the roots of the trees. After a while, he quit drawing and began to doze off.
“holy……” Ptolemy cried out as he rolled over in his sleep and began falling to the ground. Catching the sketchpad as he fell, he quickly caught hold of a branch and swung onto it. After rubbing the weariness from his eyes, he quickly noted how far the sun had dropped while he was asleep. Launching himself from the branch, he quickly estimated how many more sketches he needed and got to work. Not only had he slept away a few hours, but now the sun was very low and made the landscape harder to see. His last three sketches took careful concentration due to the limited visibility. Once he was completely finished, Ptolemy raced back to the village to turn in his sketchpad. After reporting the success of his mission, he grabbed some ramen for dinner and decided to head home.
