Clan History: One of the few shinobi clans that are native to the countless small islands that form the archipelago that is known today as Mizu no Kuni, the Hoshigaki clan’s inhabitance of the region easily predates the shinobi village of Kirigakure, with which it has been allied almost since its founding. Before joining the ranks of the shinobi world the Hoshigake lived as a tribal clan, using their superior mobility and hunting capabilities to survive as apex predators of the surrounding waters. When Kirigakure was founded, members of the tribe that would come to be known as the Hoshigake clan were actively recruited by representatives of the village who saw their intimate knowledge of the environment, predatory disposition, and unique natural abilities to be ideal for the role of a shinobi. Although many were hesitant to ally themselves with the newly created entity of the Village Hidden in the Mist, the Hoshigaki would eventually join the village, learning the secrets of chakra and jutsu to empower themselves. Over time Hoshigake clan members would master the use of their unnaturally large chakra stores, many rising to the status of elite shinobi within Kirigakure and beyond, the most famous of these shinobi of course being Hoshigaki Kisame, a member of the legendary Akatsuki criminal organization.
It would not take long for the Hoshigaki to distinguish themselves within the village, both through physical appearance and sheer power. Members of the Hoshigaki clan are easily recognizable by their distinct appearances, their bodies inherently taking on many fish-like qualities including a natural grey/blue tint to their skin, fish-like eyes, and even the gills that made them nearly unstoppable underwater. While there is very little in the way of conclusive evidence that could explain the nature of or the reason for such a distinct and drastic change to the human anatomy, modern research into the origin of the Hoshigaki clan’s form has uncovered data suggests a link between the fish-like appearance of Hoshigaki clansmen and Senjutsu chakra. The most plausible hypothesis proposes that the Hoshigaki clan ancestors, the original hunting tribes of the Mizu no Kuni archipelago, possessed the ability to passively absorb Senjutsu chakra from their environment in extremely small quantities. This slow, but constant, exposure to nature chakra would be the source of the clan’s unique and permanent animal-like qualities as well as the Hoshigaki clan’s abnormally large chakra reserves.
Kekkei Genkai Description: Members of the Hoshigake clan are born with fish-like characteristics, including partially functioning gills, allowing them to remain underwater for twice as long as a normal shinobi (10 posts) before drowning. The prolonged, steady exposure to nature chakra that caused their physical mutation has also afforded Hoshigaki clansmen abnormally large chakra reserves, resulting in them starting with 20 more chakra than normal. Their natural affinity for the suiton element has also increased their inherent aptitude for moulding chakra of that element to unrivalled heights, resulting in suiton jutsu being used by members of the Hoshigaki clan to be increased by one rank in power (i.e. A C-Rank jutsu would hit as if it were a B-Rank).
Drawbacks: The same exposure to nature chakra that afforded them their aquatic survival capabilities and their superior chakra stores also robs them of the ability to actively mould senjutsu chakra, making them unable to learn the senjutsu specialization. Their abnormally strong affinity towards the suiton element renders members of the Hoshigake clan completely unable to learn or use neither the katon nor the raiton element. In addition, their focus on mastering their suiton jutsu makes them unable to learn neither a third or fourth element nor a fourth specialization. Members of the Hoshigake clan are more susceptible to electricity due to their semi-aquatic nature, resulting in raiton jutsu which strike clan members dealing damage one rank higher than normal.

Kekkei Genkai Jutsu:
- Spoiler:
- Name: Suiton: Water Shark Bullet
Canon/Custom: Canon
Rank: B
Type: Offensive
Element: Suiton
Range: 20m (30m if the target is submerged in water)
Specialty: Ninjutsu
Duration: Instantaneous
Cooldown: 6 posts
Description: The user shapes water into the form of a large shark and with the thrust of their hands sends it hurdling towards their opponent at high speeds (80mph), resulting in a powerful impact (powerful enough to break bones upon impact). Members of the Hoshigaki clan can also “ride” the chakra shark by entering it before it is launched, allowing them to travel underwater at incredible speeds.
Name: Suiton: Five Feeding Sharks
Canon/Custom: Canon
Rank: B
Type: Offensive
Element: Suiton
Range: 25m
Specialty: Ninjutsu
Duration: Instantaneous
Cooldown: 6 posts
Description: The user puts his hand on the surface of a body of water and from the tips of five fingers, chakra is released into the water, changing it into the form of five ferocious sharks. The sharks circle the target with high speed up to 100mph, creating a raging stream that takes away their prey's freedom of movement and their sharp teeth tear into the enemy with each consecutive attack. The teeth of each shark are capable of penetrating 1 inch into unprotected flesh and their jaws are capable of breaking bones if an opponent is unfortunate enough to get caught. Unlike the Water Shark Bullet, the sharks produced by this jutsu are unable to emerge from the water and therefore can only target submerged opponents.
Name: Suiton: Great Shark Bullet
Canon/Custom: Canon
Rank: A-S
Type: Offensive
Element: Suiton
Range: 40m (50m if the target is submerged in water), +10m at S.
Specialty: Ninjutsu
Duration: Instantaneous
Cooldown: 8 posts
Description: The ultimate Shark Bullet jutsu in which the user creates a massive shark from surrounding water and sends it hurtling towards his opponents at high speeds (up to 100mph), capable of shattering any bones upon impact. If a Suiton jutsu of one rank or lower than this jutsu collides with the shark it will “feed” on the opposing suiton jutsu and gain a +1 in power, allowing it to crush any opponents it may hit.
Name: Suiton: Rain Water Shark Wave
Canon/Custom: Canon
Rank: B
Type: Offensive
Element: Suiton
Range: 10m
Specialty: Ninjutsu
Duration: Instantaneous
Cooldown: 7 posts
Description: By slamming their palm down onto the surface of a body of water, the user sends a surge of water upwards which then transforms into countless droplet sized sharks which rain down on the surrounding area. Each of these tiny suiton sharks is capable of cutting one inch into flesh. Enemies caught within the will receive laceration all over their body wherever the shark droplets made contact. The sheer number of shark droplets makes it impossible for an opponent to position themselves in any way within the range of the jutsu in which they would not take damage, barring standing directly on top of the user.
