Zetsume watched from behind the crowd as bodies of his fellow ninja came pouring in from the back gate. There were people crying while others were praying that their loved ones were not the ones dead. A reconnaissance team was set off to check out the area from the six that left, only one returned. He carried his friends back and collapsed from exhaustion when he returned. He did not seem to have many wounds that were fatal, nothing that the medical ninjas could not handle. Zetsume spat on the ground in disgust that they would foolishly let these ninja go out, not knowing who or what they were about to face. It was almost like a suicide. Then again this is the first time that people have died in this amount in awhile. A bad feeling started to develop in his stomach, almost like he ate something that was rotten. Seeing their dead and mortified bodies made his blood boil. He did not even know their name, and now these young ones are dead. Zetsume gathered his thoughts before setting off to go train. He would be damned if he will just be another gravestone that meant nothing, one that only spoke of a few words of peace. He will not be like one of them, not in this life. Upon reaching his house, he noticed that his dog Repede was happily waiting for him like always. It seemed that this dog was one of the reasons he kept moving on. Letting this dog down would be a fate worst than death.
A nice warm shower always felt good on the skin, Zetsume pondered about what had happened today. Wondering why and how they died. After the shower he gathered his gear and set off to go train in the forest. Not many people trained outside of the gates, but to him, it was the only place he could find peace and solitude. Two things he loved. Setting those thoughts aside he looked at the snowy area. The cool air brisking against his skin. Oh how he loved Kumogakure. It was the whole feel of it all that made it all the more fantastic. Then again he has never been to another village so how could he know what the feeling of anywhere else be like. Maybe he would like those places better.
"Hahahaha, yea right.", Zetsume shook his head at those thoughts and simply went about his training. Letting his bow sit on the ground he began to focus his chakra. Usually he was proficient in everything he does, yet he needed to be better with his Katon. His raiton was already almost perfected but now he needed to get his Katon up in par with it. Zetsume calmed himself and quickly made a Katon Chakra Bow. It burned brightly yet there was no harmful heat, it was all contained within the bow. It burned brightly like a beacon that would never go out. The true power of his KKG, the Chakra bow. It allowed him to form multiple arrows from a single jutsu, allowing for more shots. Quickly he formed some arrows and shot them from his bow, they zipped past the snow and landed on the trees exactly where he needed them to go. Smiling like a kid at the zoo he felt slightly more accomplished but knew his training would not be over so soon. Taking a deep breath he continued with the training for hours and hours until his body felt numb from the lack of chakra. How could something so powerful seem to fade so quickly. Letting out a long drawn out sigh he gathered his things and decided it would be time to head back. He was sure that his dog would be there waiting for his return like he always did.
While walking through the village he had to do some shopping. Steak sounded good to his stomach, and he needed something to eat to fill his stomach that also tasted really good. It took almost half an hour to finish his shopping, he never did like to take a long time. Most people would delve in taking forever, but not him. He liked to get things done quickly and effectively. It also helped that he knew exactly what he was looking for, while most people did not. Upon returning home, he found that his dog had been rampant in the house knocking over things here and there. Maybe the separation anxiety was getting to him. After a delicious mean Zetsume went to sleep only to confront his nightmares once again. His dreams were never nice to him, they always reminded him of how weak he really was. Always flashing back to that fateful day when he could not even save his best friend nor Fiance. Those images were burned in the back of his skull like a tattoo that would never leave. Oh how he wished they would just leave him alone. Closing his eyes, he wished for a happy dream knowing that it would not happen.
When he woke up he could feel an urge to help the village, almost like a calling. It could have been the nightmare or maybe something else. It had been some time since he had done a mission, he really needed the money. After getting ready he set off towards the Kage's office to see if there was anything that seemed interesting. The people on the streets still did not really know him, the thought of that made him smile. The last thing that he wanted is to become famous and have people constantly talking to him. Human interactions were not his forte. Zetsume would rather enjoy the company of his dog than that of other people who only babbled about how bad their lives were and what not. To think that a highly respected ninja like himself would stoop that low to talk to commoners. That is what the usual Kyodara would say, what pompous assholes. When he reached the mission board that held most of the missions none really sparked an interest that he thought. Most of them were silly genin mission that he no longer felt like he needed to do. He enjoyed the fact he was a jounin, yet because of it, it made him too prideful when it came to missions. Even though all of them were kind of important, he knew that others would simply take it in his place happily. Letting out one hell of a long sigh, he decided it just was not his time to do a mission and started his way back to the village. While on his trip back however, he was stopped by a messenger boy who seemed to have been running for a while based on his breathing pattern. He was just a lowly academy student that took the job for the extra money, hell everyone could use the extra money, even Zetsume. He spoke very little other than the Raikage specifically wanted Zetsume to carry out this mission, and he had been running all over the place to find him. Zetsume opened the letter and could feel his heart pounding at the mission. It almost excited him to once again be killing. A dark side of him, one that was to be thought of long gone began to emerge from its rubble. One that hated those who hurt people from his village, one that wanted revenge for everyone that suffered. One that would probably be the end of him because of how it made him feel inside. It seems that a crime boss needed to be stopped and that he has been hurting people from his village. This was a slightly new mission, maybe it had something to do with those who died yesterday. A grin formed onto his face as he set off towards him home to get his gear. He needed to be ready for this, he needed this so bad.
It seemed to take a long time to make it to his house, get his gear and head off. Though before he could leave Repede seemed to not want him to go and kept tugging on his pant leg in need of him. Zetsume knew the dog had grown much stronger, and having him along could be advantageous. Though the thought of him getting hurt or dying made his heart hurt. After awhile though the dog seemed persistent that it was coming along whether he liked it or not. Zetsume smiled at his companion and left towards the gates of the village to find this so called crime boss and put him to justice. The kind of justice that had no jury, no judge, and no mercy. The kind that put dogs down like him all the time and could sleep soundly at night. That kind of justice was the only kind he believed in. It was around noon when he left the village with his dog, not knowing if he would return that day or not.
