Ukiyo
Dead
Ukiyo walks through the village gates at a lounging speed. She’s smiling comfortably and enjoying the warm air of today. A few bugs fly past her on their way to the woods, to which Ukiyo halts and greets them. They buzz on past her and she continues on her way, pleased by the energy she’s been detecting in the village today. She’s here to find a young prankster who has been graffiti-ing much of the village’s homes and shops. Ukiyo minds catching a fellow rebel, and it upsets her that she must. However she knows the importance of keeping trouble makers in line. Too many of them and you have thugs on your hands.
Ukiyo began her search on the rooftops; she leaped up to the tallest one she could find and took watch. There appeared to be no unusual movement among them, unfortunately, and Ukiyo dropped to a sitting position. She leaned back and stared up at the clouds. It was a beautiful day; azure blue painted the planet’s space scape and white, puffy clouds rolled around and played on it. Ukiyo pointed out several different species of plants she saw in the clouds, laughing at each one for one horticulturist joke or another. Eventually she drums up the motivation to continue her search, hopping down from her perch onto a rooftop below. She runs along them towards the center of the village, hoping she can find some indication of where to search next. Clearly the village was too large to cover by foot, so she had to use somewhat of a strategy. Upon reaching the center, Ukiyo hopped down from the rooftop (having not seen any suspicious activity from up there) and began talking to some of the citizens. She walked up to a shop owner with graffiti on the front door of his flat and asked, “Sir, do you know where the kid is who did this?” Dumb question. “Yeah he’s in the shop, having a beer with my wife. Of course I don’t fucking know otherwise I’d be ringing his neck!” Well that was unnecessary, and Ukiyo doesn’t take kindly to unkind words. Ukiyo gets as close as she possibly can with her body to his and whispers, “Hey.” The man blushes. “After I find this kid, you’re next.” Ukiyo leaps up as quickly as she can, appearing as if she vanished to the civilian’s untrained eyes. Ukiyo giggled as she followed a trail of dripping paint on the rooftop of the shop.
