With the lush forests of Fire Country behind him, Xiahou was finally feeling whole again. The hollow feeling in his gut was beginning to subside, though the twinge of anger still remained. Xiahou couldn't explain the feelings that had developed over the last few weeks, it felt like some invisible spectre had been hovering over him, spewing, pouring forth anger and resentment into his heart with each passing second.
The travel itself hadn't been too arduous, leaving Fire Country was one of the most peaceful walks he had taken in a long time. Several miles outside the gate of Konoha he had come across a merchant caravan travelling all the way to Saishi. Upon joining their caravan, Xiahou had quickly been put to work tending to their horses and became responsible for the children of the caravan, taking care of them and entertaining them with some of his Ninja arts. Upon arriving at Saishi port, Xiahou found himself still with a debt to repay to the Caravan. He stayed on there for two days, lifting and carrying goods mostly, as well as providing a little muscle for the merchants as they settled into the new town, preventing them from being extorted by local thugs.
With his debt finally repaid, Xiahou found himself on a ship to water country. In truth, he hadn't planned a destination, but Kirigakure seemed as good as any when he'd arrived in Saishi. As luck would have it, the ship was bound for Kirigakure's own port, a compound some miles from the hidden city's gates themselves.
He had arrived only ten hours ago and already he felt at home in the eerie mists of Water country. He rounded the corner of a rock formation and, through the mists, in the distance, painted with loving, tender strokes across the horizon, was the silhouette of Kirigakure, the Village Hidden in the Mists.
Stepping into the open, between two towering formations of stone, in the thick fog, Xiahou began to make the final trek of his journey.
