Nagi

Nagi

D-rank
Mission Details:

The parks around Konohagakure were quite beautiful, but parts of them were just forgotten. They are riddled with litter and broken structures and benches. Nagi's mission today was to turn around one of these sections that was so long neglected. It seemed like an easy feat. It was just cleaning litter and such, how hard could it really be? Nagi thought that worst case scenario, he might have to go for a little swim to clear some litter from the streams or rivers. He figured he'd do that first, so if he got wet he'd be dry by the time he finished.

He showed up in one of the most barren spots of the park, where people had avoided for years because of it's not being taken care of. He didn't see a problem with fixing the place up for the citizens to enjoy once more. It was a service to the city, which made it all that more enjoyable.

He walked along the main stream running through the park, and was surprised that he'd not seed any litter. It was strange, he was sure this would be filled with junk. He walked along, curiously. He didn't believe his eyes when he came across a fallen tree that had blocked all this litter. It was about four feet thick, and half submerged, keeping all the litter in place right beside it. Nagi wanted to cry at the sight of all the bottles and food wrappers that filled a basin near the tree. He pulled a trash bag from his knapsack and walked carefully across the tree. He began to fill the bag with all this junk that was just pooling in the river. It smelt like something was dead in the water. He regretted doing this one first, he was going to lose his lunch!

He fought through the nausea long enough to clear the river of all litter, filling four entire bags with their filth. He piled them near a waste bin, he'd come back when he was finished to take them to a large bin. His next target was a gazebo looking building where the steps had caved in entirely. He had brought with him several stacks of wood that he'd left on a table in the area. The boards were the perfect length to span the width of the steps. He was happy he'd not have to cut any of the lumber just yet. He nailed down three pieces to replace the steps using a hammer and nails that he'd been given for the job. He looked at the new stairs with a certain sense of pride. 'If this Ninja thing doesn't work out I guess I could always be a carpenter!' He thought to himself, laughing a bit. His laugh was strange because of his damaged vocal cords. It sounded so childish. It fit his looks though, he figured. No matter, next there were a few benches that just needed to be reattached in certain spots.

Three in total, all along the main path that ran through the park. He walked up to each, inspecting the issues. The first one was missing the actual seat, the boards had just been knocked out of place. He removed the old nails and placed the boards back into their proper position, then drove a new nail where each of the old nails had been. He carried a fistful of nails and the hammer over to where the second bench was. This one's back had fallen out, which still made it able to be sat upon, but there was no back support. Nagi held the back up as he quickly reattached the back which seemed to be in decent shape despite being left without care for so long. He tested it by sitting down for a moment and leaning back. He wasn't very big, but he figured that if it could hold his small 125 pound frame trying to get it to give way, it could hold for someone trying to just sit down.

The last bench was a bit different, one of the legs had rotted away, leaving the bench leaning forward and to the left. He brought a board over and held the bench up as he marked where he'd have to cut the new board, using the old legs as reference. He used the sturdy table he'd left the lumber on as a workbench as he cut the board to fit as a leg. Reattaching it was simple, as a frame was between the legs and the seat itself. He looked at this project too with a good bit of pride.

Nagi looked around. He thought the last thing he had to do is get rid of a couple dead stumps at the entrance in the area. That would be simple enough, he saw them when he walked in. They were old and soft, he could break them up for mulch to add to the plants that lined the path. So he did just that, he pulled the stumps from the loose dirt, nearly breaking them in two as he did so, as they were so soft. He brought them both to a patch where a garden had been planted and appearing to be taking care of itself. He jumped up and down on the stumps, turning them into small chips of wood. He tossed the chips into the nearby vegetation and called it a job well done. He also thought it'd be a good idea to replant new trees there. He had requested sapling so that he could plant them there, and was accepted. He dug two small holes with his hands, one where each of the old stumps had been, then the put the saplings in, then covered their roots with dirt. He brushed his hands off and looked at the new and improved area of the park. He hoped that people would enjoy the work he'd put into restoring this area of the park. Already, he saw some kids coming from a nearby section chasing a duck towards the stream, hollering after one another to catch it. Nagi smiled and turned away.

He liked seeing others delighted with his work, it made it all the more worthwhile.
