Koji stood firmly on the ground, studying his opponent’s movement with any chance he had. He knew that this would be no ordinary duel so he would have to prepare himself accordingly. Koji paused as the adversary pointed a gleaming stare into his eyes. Fire would light the eyes of the opposing ninja.
“What’s he planning?” Koji contemplated to himself.
A moment of silence would cover the battlefield before another move would be made. Would blood be shed? Would weaponry or ninjutsu be out of the question? Suddenly, it was as if Koji missed a beat, his opponent was dashing at him with tremendous speed. As the opponent’s feet tread upon the ground, a distinct memory would hit Koji’s mind.
Koji remembered a day of training with his father. The two Senju were performing taijutsu training together on the Senju clan grounds. Koji was easily floored by his kin. The young shinobi was on the ground with his head looking toward the dirt. His father looked at him with a smile and offered his hand out to the young boy.
“Come Koji. There will be times where physically you will be weakened, but never let your will or you heart be weakened by anyone. Let your will shine bright enough so that it may be enough to protect those whom you care about. That is our nindo!” Koji’s father explained with a passionate aura.
Koji quickly snapped out of it and mentally adjusted himself with the battlefield once more. Without a sound and barely in sight, the other ninja leaped into the air and forced his left foot out, performing a legendary flying kick. Koji knew about this move because it was a part of his style as well.
As the man’s foot came closer and closer to Koji’s face, Koji finally reacted. He swayed to the left, narrowly escaping the man’s kick in time and immediately aiming a fist strike accurately at the man’s ankle, hoping to land a blow while he was still in the flying kick stance. Lifting his right leg, Koji then performed a roundhouse kick, aiming for a quick jab at the man’s back as well. Even if he were to be physically weakened in this battle, Koji would not be weakened in spirit. He sensed the difficulty of his opponent and knew it would be a tough fight.
