(OOC: When I say decisive action I just mean don't use a technique or launch an attack and assume it works. The same goes for counters, but as long as they make sense it shouldn't be a problem)

Kenji was able to contort his body in order to prevent a debilitating stab to his sword arm like Bokuden intended, but he could not avoid damage completely. He managed to save his sword arm, but was now left with a hole about two inches deep into his chest that was bleeding profusely. As the two separated from the confrontation, Bokuden subtly threw a kunai low to the ground at Kenji's feet hoping that he would be distracted by his wound and Bokuden's movements. As soon as Bokuden released the kunai he launched himself into the air a descending downward slash with his sword using his downward momentum to increase the power of his strike, hoping that either Kenji would focus on Bokuden's slash allowing the kunai to pierce one of his shins or jump out of the way of the kunai to save his legs and be left vulnerable to his sword attack. Either way Bokuden knew that if Kenji tried to block the downward strike Bokuden's attack would overpower Kenji. Kenji might have had the raw speed advantage, but the difference in their size and strength was evident and with the aid of gravity Bokuden's slash could force Kenji to play to Bokuden's advantage, power.

Kenji's body was leaning to the left as his right hand was holding the right side of his chest. Bokuden was now attacking just as Kenji knew he would. From the bottom of his eye he saw a kunai heading for his shin, and at that same moment Bokuden leaped in the air. Kenji's movement was drastically effected by his wound. A backward leap like he performed earlier wasn't within his capabilities at the moment. As soon as the kunai hit his shin, he was replaced by a puff of smoke, and in his place was a log. Kenji then appeared on the ground 10 meters behind Bokuden as he finished his downward slash. Before Bokuden even landed, Kenji while in pain, stuck his sword in the ground and weaved five hand seals and completed an air thrust. He wouldn't make the same mistake of waiting too long to heave his sword. As he instantly launched it at Bokuden's back with his left arm. The gust of wind triggering the Genjutsu would reach Bokuden right before his sword did. If this attack didn't work, Kenji's chances of winning would decrease immensely, as fatigue and the pain of his wound were beginning to take its toll. He immediately clinched his chest once again after the series of maneuvers as he awaited the outcome of his attack.

As Bokuden's kunai struck Kenji's knee, Kenji disappeared in a puff of smoke leaving a log in his place. "A substitution!" Bokuden thought to himself, shocked that Kenji was able to evade his attacks yet again, "But where the hell did he go?" Wherever Kenji had run off too it was out of Bokuden's perceptive range. Before falling to the ground Bokuden sheathed his sword and knowing that he had to put distance between himself and the sneak attack that was sure to be coming, landed with his hands and used them to catapult himself forward and land facing the direction that was previously behind him. There he saw Kenji releasing a gust of wind, just as he did when he cast his genjutsu before, "Again!?" Bokuden exclaimed before noticing Kenji immediately grab and throw his sword to follow the gust. "Shit!" Bokuden thought to himself, "I have to stop that sword before I get caught in that genjutsu again." He knew that the jutsu had a very short duration, but it would be more than enough time for that sword to connect. Bokuden would have to use his Iaido to draw quickly and strike the sword down from the air. He knew he would have to memorize the location of the incoming sword and continue his swing blindly as the genjutsu would hit him first, but as he drew and slashed the sword down to the ground before his feet he felt no gust. The gust had dissipated before ever reaching him. By catapulting himself away to reassess his surroundings he must have moved out of the genjutsu's firing range. A wide grin appeared on Bokuden's face as he began to laugh and deactivated his perception jutsu. "Did you overshoot the range of your own jutsu?!? Bokuden inquired, still laughing to himself. He then sheathed his katana and picked up Kenji's longsword, plunging it into the ground as far as he could. He lodged it into the ground further by placing his foot onto the hand guard and putting all of his weight onto the weapon until barely 1/8 of the blade was visible. "Still want to fight, farm boy?"

As Kenji's sword approached Bokuden he realized that he gave himself very little room for margin as he was on the brink of his jutsu's range. And once Bokuden adjusted his position he knew he had moved just out of range. Kenji was extremely embarrassed at the rookie mistake. Bokuden began to laugh, "Did you overshoot the range of your own jutsu?!?" His sword was being stomped into the ground, so with Kenji's chest dripping, he announced his defeat. "Still want to fight, farm boy?" Kenji grinned and replied, "I want to, but I'm afraid it's no longer in my best interest to do so." Kenji was so close to getting the upper hand. But a miscalculation had sealed his fate. Kenji removed his hand from his chest and raised his chin, "You got me pretty good. I must admit your skills in close are impeccable." Kenji was prideful, but when someone beat him, really beat him, he gave them their props. Kenji approached Bokuden rather slowly to retrieve his sword, which wasn't going to be easy seeing how far in the ground it was, and he only had one arm at the moment, and it was his weak arm. "Seems like I have a date with the hospital, would you mind handing me my sword?" Kenji stopped and said this at a distance to assure his opponent he wasn't going to try anything.
A rivalry was born, this wasn't their first encounter and it wouldn't be their last. The gauntlet had been thrown down, this battle would set the precedent and motivate Kenji to train harder and fight smarter.

In response to Bokuden, Kenji approached and yielded the fight. "Seems like I have a date with the hospital, would you mind handing me my sword?" Bokuden was now feeling embarrassed by how far he had allowed the fight to go because of his inability to control his anger. In response Bokuden pulled the sword from the ground and flipped it around in his hand. Now holding the bladed end, Bokuden offered the sword's handle to Kenji as a sign of peace. "Maybe I was wrong about you afterall... Kenji."

Kenji let out a sigh as he reached for the handle of his sword with his left hand. Kenji was beginning to breathe heavily as a result of the wound and fatigue. He was able to regulate his breathing enough so it wasn't glaringly obvious the toll the fight took on him. Kenji sheathed his sword awkwardly. "Maybe I was wrong about you afterall... Kenji." Kenji had a puzzled look on his face, he didn't take the fight personally, but the anger Bokuden displayed led him to believe the opposite had. Kenji cleared his throat, "So how about we call this a 'friendly' rivalry?" Kenji chuckled, "And while we're at it, how about you accompany me to the hospital, I might collapse on the way there."
It seems the two would find semi common ground, their tempers had died down and understanding arose in its place. The two genin were sure to continue challenging each other, as both deemed each other worthy opponents.

"A rivalry implies that both parties have equal chance to succeed in emerging victorious, which clearly is not the case in this situation," Bokuden said haughtily, "However, you may view me as an obstacle for your goals if you feel it will help you become stronger." Bokuden took a few steps past Kenji, stopped then turned around. What are you waiting for? The sooner we get to the hospital the less chance there is I have to carry you there myself," Bokuden said with a smirk.

Bokuden then walked past him and said with a smirk, "What are you waiting for? Kenji said sarcastically, "Let's go."
