After a few minutes standing there, he realized that nobody was coming, and figured it was just the wind or something. Wind...a force of nature that he could control. Similar to Suiton, in that way. He wanted a deeper knowledge of these things; he wanted to become one with them. Training would be the key to this, and he thought that now was a good a time as any, with peace and quiet as nice as this. He made a hand seal, and water began to pour down his arm, splashing into a puddle that was forming on the ground. The splashing grew louder, and more concentrated, until finally the whole bunker was under a foot deep layer of water. Isamu swished his legs around in the water comfortably, and focused on the way it moved. This made him remember a technique he had heard of that powerful Suiton shinobi used to supplement their ninjutsu. The name was on the tip of his tongue, but he couldn't remember it....exploding...ugh. He thought harder, stomping in the water and making the droplets fly through the air before returning to the basin. Colliding Wave! That was it! Water Release: Exploding Water Colliding Wave. He set his sights on it as if it were right in front of him.
"Another expansion to my Water ninjutsu collection," he said to himself, proudly.
He took a step back and looked into the blue waters and their contrast against the hard, grey floor. The bunker was warm, and the cool water was soothing on his skin. He strained to remember the hand signs--he could've sworn he'd seen them in a book somewhere...a thought came to mind, and he realized he was ASSUMING that there were hand signs at all. The technique was just a simple gush of water, amplified 10 fold. Therefore, no real handsigns were required. Or at least he didn't think so. He was sure that in the book, they had their hands together some how, so maybe it required the hands to be clapped upon use. He'd try that, but first he'd have to prepare the jutsu itself. He gathered chakra in his throat, similar to the way he did with Water Release: Basilisk Mending Technique.
Once he had the chakra sufficiently prepared, he moulded it into water, and built it up as much as he could. His throat began to tighten as it filled, and he was about to choke (this was much more than the amount used for his other techniques), so he coughed up the water and breathed heavily.
"Damnit..." he muttered to himself. True, he had made a good amount of water, but not enough to make a wave. He rubbed his now throbbing neck, grinding his teeth in response to the pain, and began to charge his chakra again.
This time would require a little more concentration. He needed to maintain good chakra control, not breathe any water in as he was performing the jutsu, and spit it out like a WAVE. His goal was to fill the whole bunker with water. Considering the fact that it was an emergency escape bunker, he really shouldn't have been trying to do that, but he would drain the water immediately after so that the bunker could be used again. He shook his head and got back to focusing. The chakra was building again, leaving an odd sensation in his throat and mouth. He swept his soaked hair back starting converting the chakra into water. Bubbles were forming, and his throat was tightening again. He coughed, but kept his mouth closed so that no water could escape, and continued building chakra. It slowly became more difficult to keep the water from escaping. His mouth and throat were both full of water, and not nearly enough to do anything with. He finally gave up and simply swallowed the water, and caught his breathe again.
"How am I supposed to do this without gills!?" he yelled, frustrated with himself.
Another thought dawned to him, and Isamu felt extremely stupid after he came up with it. What about making more water while he was spitting it out? That made more sense. The only problem was speed; it would take a long time to create enough water, and in battle, he didn't want to be a sitting duck with his mouth open and water spouting like a fountain. He wanted to be quick and efficient. Charge chakra, open mouth, spit out a ton of water, hit opponent with wave. In under 5 seconds, preferably. This was a process; it worked the same as any other. The process needed to be quick and potent in order to be efficient. Without enough water, it would be useless in combat, and if it wasn't fast enough, enemies could kill him before he finished using the jutsu. He calmed down, and knew that the only way to make this easier was to try harder and work the ninjutsu faster. He focused, and gave it another go.
This time, he chanted the jutsu's name, for dramatic effect, of course.
"WATER RELEASE: EXPLODING WATER COLLIDING WAVE!"And the water began to build. He opened his mouth and a gush of water began pouring out. He concentrated, trying to get the flow of chakra to keep up with how much water was coming out of his mouth to keep the technique from interrupting. He had to make it one, fluid waterfall from his mouth. It began to flow quickly and the room was slowly filling with water, rippling violently as his technique collided with the pre-existing water. He tried to shoot it at an angle, and used his chakra to stand on the building wave. The wave started rolling to the south, toward the hallway further into the bunker. He didn't stop making water. It was still flowing, and the wave grew large before he stopped and the water settled back into a calm state. He looked back down to his drenched clothes, and at the shimmering wet obsidian bracelets lining his arms. That attempt was better than the last. He stopped beating himself up, because he knew that this jutsu was designed for shinobi with great amounts of chakra, like Sannin. He was only a chuunin, so no matter how he tried to use it, he couldn't use it to the best of its potential. He decided to try one more time for the sake of it.
The steps were quick and fluid now. Charge chakra, release water, build it up, spit it out, faster, more powerful
keep it going, like a hose, don't let any interruptions happen.
Stand on the wave, help it grow, aim the water stream to move the wave.
The wave began to move at high speed within seconds. He had executed the technique, although not with an ocean of water, but with just enough to be used in combat, in under 5 seconds. He stopped the wave before it hit a wall and jumped into the basin of water. Now capable of using the jutsu in a fight, he felt that it was fine to stop now and drain the bunker of water, as he felt tired and needed rest. He concentrated and let the water drain through the cracks in the ground, carefully at first, and then with more force to rid the place of it fast. It was now completely dry in there again, and he looked around to make sure no damage had been done. After this quick inspection, he set a goal for himself. Today, he couldn't manage to use the technique perfectly, but he vowed to come back once he became a Sannin, and he would fill the entire bunker with water as he had originally aspired to do. He nodded, as if accepting the promise from himself, and left the bunker, starting on the journey back to his house for a long rest. He figured that he could visit Ryu on the way home, and tell him about his training.
