Clan History: Long before the First Shinobi World War, certain men and women with a rather strange evolutionary defect of unknown cause began appearing in relatively small numbers. Born with a relatively weak and frail body, these children also had pale skin, chalk-white hair and poor eyesight. Many children born with this condition failed to live past their first birthday, meaning only small numbers walked the earth long enough to even be eligible to become shinobi. Even so, by the time the second world war came about, shinobi with this serious affliction numbered as high as thirty.

Scorned and ridiculed by their more 'normal' peers, the shinobi who would eventually come to form the Tenma Clan began to harbor deep resentment towards their so-called comrades. They felt persecuted by the ninja world; condemned to always be the outsiders looking in and never to be a true part of society. So little by little, these people began to abandon their duties and flee their villages, becoming missing-nin in the process. However, seen by the general populace as being rather useless shinobi anyway, a serious effort was never truly mounted for their capture.

Before long, bearers of the affliction started to come together and find one another, easily recognizing the tell-tale signs of their unfortunate curse. These people recognized that they now had a mission: to overcome their affliction and finally show the world that their clan was more than worthy of serving in their armies and leading their shinobi. They called themselves the Tenmu.

For many years the clan studied their disease, formulating theories and conducting experiments on one another to possibly eradicate or at least lessen their many weaknesses. After much time and study, they finally came upon a piece of the puzzle. Through the development of a rather unique but immensely intense training regiment the Tenmu learned that with considerable time and effort they could, to a small degree, strengthen their frail bodies to the point where they could function normally as shinobi of just less than average defense. It was during this time that the clan began investing heavily in Kenjutsu teachings, a homage to the noble Samurai with whom the clan felt somewhat shared their status as 'outsiders looking in'.

Of course, their weakness was not so easily overcome. Their dedication to Kenjutsu was enough to hone their reflexes and train their minds, but not quite enough to overcome their lack of strength. Sadly, a generation or so passed before they found the answer. It was also this next generation that first showed their affinity for 'Earth' type chakra.

After numerous lengthy studies, a man who went by the name of Sousei Tenmu finally discovered the answer. It was a stroke of genius really, everyone in the clan could agree: he had formulated a jutsu that would allow their weapons themselves to become the source of their power. Sousei called it the 'Soudai Yaiba Houyou', a jutsu that would essentially allow the user, over several arduous hours, to essentially 'bathe' a blade in their own or anothers chakra. This infuses the blade with remnants of the users chakra, often allowing it to change shape and often weight in accordance with the users personal feelings, beliefs and goals.

The clan had finally triumphed, at least partially, over their affliction. In the coming years they slowly started integrating themselves back into shinobi society to find that barely anyone either remembered or cared of their ancestors past transgressions, though people were wary of the clan for quite some time. A period of great fortune came soon after, and for generations the clan prospered and grew.

In the present the Tenmu clan have almost fully rejoined society, and any shinobi looking to find them can do so by heading to their main (and for the time being only sizable) camp in Iwagakure.


Kekkei Genkai Description: Due to their affliction, all members of the Tenma clan are made to use the 'Soudai Yaiba Houyou' when they come of the age to begin shinobi training. Doing so any earlier would surely result in death due to the extreme strain put on the body during the initial process.

A weapon that has been involved in the 'Soudai Yaiba Houyou' gains many abilities, some purely cosmetic and some useful. The weapon essentially becomes an extension of the user, as much a part of him or her as an arm or a leg. - (All shinobi born of the Tenma clan begin with their own unique same-rank blade; some jutsu may be channeled through their blade as opposed to the body.)


Drawbacks: Due to the affliction that eventually drove the Tenma to create the 'Soudai Yaiba Houyou', shinobi of the Tenma clan tend to be physically frail along with poor eyesight. - (Taijutsu and Kinjutsu have +1 potency on impact against this user; -1 rank reduced accuracy for throwing weapons and mid to long ranged jutsu;.)

Separation from their blade effectively weakens a Tenma, causing their weakened bodies to begin to break down. - (If separated from their blade for more than 8 posts, Taijutsu and Kenjutsu gain an additional +1 potency on impact against this user.)

The clans dedication to the sword arts has led them to somewhat neglect hand to hand combat and completely shun archery due to its contrasting style. They also find the act of utilizing other beings for assistance in combat completely abhorrent. Their sickness drastically affects the ability to utilize tricks of the mind. - (Members cannot utilize Taijutsu techniques of C-rank or higher; cannot utilize Kuchiyose or Puppeteer techniques of D-rank or higher; incapable of using Kyūjutsu and Genjutsu entirely.)

Description: A jutsu utilized by elders of the Tenma clan on prospective new shinobi of the clan. Essentially, the user channels his/her own chakra throughout a blade, bathing the weapon in it. The jutsu can also be used on another, less experienced shinobi to allow their chakra to more easily flow, enabling them to perform the ritual. Due to the ritualistic nature of the technique, this can only be performed on willing participants for several hours at a time for several days during the time leading up to acceptance for shinobi training. The process also allows time for the body, mind and blade to (in a sense) become one, even if only for a short time. This union is mostly spiritual, but the immense volume of chakra that passes through the blade for such a length of time forms somewhat of a 'bond' between the weapon and the recipient, allowing for greater focus and balance between body and mind. This bond is somewhat symbiotic in nature; if the two should ever be separated for a great length of time the effects can be disastrous.

The main point of this jutsu is to allow the physically frail Tenma to be capable of somewhat overcoming their weakness, greatly reducing the immense amount of extra effort it would require for a member of the clan to act as a shinobi under normal circumstances. The weapon also becomes almost lighter in the hands of its master, though this is purely a state of mind that the shinobi has come to fall under due to the bond he or she shares with the weapon.

In addition, the weapon will often transform in the days following this technique, often becoming the most effective shape it can to represent the users fighting style, innermost feelings, values and goals. Completion of this transformation can be a slow process however, as the shinobi who wields it must also grow and evolve on a personal level along with the weapon in order for it to finalize its changes.

After it has blocked a technique, this jutsu allows the user to swing his/her blade enhanced with all of the accumulated force used against the shield. - (Cooldown only begins at the end of the duration, or when the attack is released.)

Separating chakra from one's body, doesn't this kill you? And this would be more chakra flow than Fuuinjutsu

Second Jutsu

-Expand on the effects more: exactly in what way does this affect the terrain? do lumps come up, cracks, etc...
(this isn't required, but most people slice their sword into the ground, they don't really slam it :))

Third Jutsu:
-Yeah, ah no. I don't know where to start with this, oh yes. Again, this would be chakra flow and kenjutsu
-the range for this would be close combat instead of blade
-pure white chakra? so it steals chakra from the jutsu it shields? I don't know, this doesn't seem possible on saga, but expand, and this is higher than D rank level

Yeah, i still don't think the first one will be ok to approve, mainly cause saga doesn't allow the extract of another user's chakra

The second jutsu looks good.

Third jutsu, ah, a shield that absorbs kinetic energy? How big is it, what rank of attacks can it block off?

Overhauled the Kekkai Genkai to remove the need to extract chakra. Jutsu now merely channels the chakra, which is temporary, as opposed to extracting it and putting it within the weapon permanently. Also added a size for the shield and the ranks of jutsu that it can deflect.

Yeah, that shield jutsu: rather than saying kinetic energy, best to say taijutsu and kenjutsu attacks with the same rank or lower as the jutsu, and by size, i meant a specific measurement. ie. 40cm by 34cm (example)

KKG: Say it's a same-rank sword. Also, the standard for allowing a clan to start with a free weapon usually means you have to bar out a lot of other ninja arts to compensate for it. So you specialize in Kenjutsu? It'll have to be to the exclusion of a crapton of other specializations.

Poisons are banned, and Kinjutsu don't have their own specialization. Say how bad their accuracy is. Is it equal to someone 1 rank lower? 2 ranks? Also, you will have to get permission from the Admins to have a chakra pool reduction as a drawback. Bonuses to chakra pools aren't allowed outside of Uzumaki, so....

Jutsu!
Soudai Yaiba Houyou (Grand Sword Embrace): I'm confused... I understand the bond between sword and ninja, but....I'll have to ask you to reword this. "This causes the blade to become almost effortlessly sharp, never seem to dull, and feel almost weightless in the hands of its master." This in particular unnerves me. Maybe it's just paranoia of the possibility of abusing it...this, if it actually affects battle prowess, just seems too good to be a permanent seal that you got before you even began RPing.

Doton: Tsuchi Hyoumenka Yaiba (Earth Style: Ground Breaking Sword): seems passable.

Tenma Kata: Yaiba-Tate no Aduachi (Tenma Style: Sword-Shield of Vengeance): Take the shield, or take a weaker shield and an attack. Having an impenetrable shield that can turn damage back is not okay. Especially if you block a ton of attacks in 2 posts with this, and demolish an opponent with power far beyond a B-rank. B-rank defensive jutsu can normally shield against 2 techniques of their own rank or 1 of one rank higher.

Alrighty, edits made! Just removed the chakra pool drawback to avoid any problems, added a whole bunch of drawbacks to other specializations as asked and just pretty much tweaked everything else as requested.

Also you're probably already aware but you do have to apply for a sword and have it approved before actually gaining one ^^' unless there's some kind of special permission.. just a reminder!

Also it might be because of the wording, but what do you mean another persons chakra. Absorption of another persons chakra is banned on this forum.
