Kanamora missed the application deadline for the Chunin Exams, not that she really needed such a shortcut anyways, due to her duties to the Raikage and to her village. There had been a lot of turmoil there in the recent days, with many of the ninja there missing in action, absconding from their duties or just doing the bare minimum to get by Kanamora found herself overwhelmed with work, as even the genin felt the labor trickle down. A few genin did slip in in time to join the exams including one of her own, but as she was not one of them she was simply here to support her comrades. A simple gesture, but hopefully one that would inspire them to do there 100% absolute best. Kumogakure needed to win the Chunin exams because anything less than a win would fictitiously give the image that the other villages somehow compared to the Hidden Cloud, and that was a misconception that needed to be quickly stifled.
In an effort to show the Konoha genin, and all of the ninja that may be visiting the area for that matter, that the relatively few participants in the exams from Kumo was not because Kumo was weak, but more because these exams were beneath their radar. Kumo had more important priorities to attend to. Lord Miyamoto would see to it that no one would question the Hidden Clouds power, naturally. For now though Kanamora was going to do her part. She arrived at this particular sparring ground late at night, her surrounds brightly lit by stadium lights. Inside of the actual arena it was indistinguishable from daytime as the flood lights smothered the late nights darkness.
Kanamora arriving just in time for her match walked calmly to the marked space in the field. Red sand filled the diamond shaped stadium with a single white line framing the in bounds area of the arena. The arena was 50 m on each edge which seemed rather excessive for this particular battle. That being said though Kanamora was more or less a close range specialist, so it was difficult for her to distinguish between what was essential, and what she believed was over kill. She slowly and lazily made her way into one of the two half meter radius white circles in the middle of the arena which was a total of ten meters away from her opponents circle.
She paid no mind to her opponent as she stepped forward adjusting herself accordingly. She'd unsheathe metal sand shaped like Sekigahara, a basic D-Rank katana, balancing it in front of her by resting her hands upon it. She'd stare coldly at her opponent. "If you can make me take even a single step backwards. The match is yours. Lord Hastur has no time for anyone who can't do at least that against a genin." Kanamora would appear as if she weren't in a stance prepared to react, and that was no mere facade. Regardless of her opponent she truly believed she'd be unable to make her take a single step backwards. She'd form the seal of conflict and wait for him to take the initiative, steadying her chakra below average chakra reserves and saving her energy for the late game.
