Iwagakure

The change of the movement in the air,  a soft tremor stirring the grains of sand and specs of dirt with a particularly growing rhythm at a rather alarming rate. A tapestry of scales rumbling, sliding and slithering, heralding something unholy, unwanted, undesired, yet so feverishly sought after.

Uraeus had been quiet and restless at those signs. He had not felt like mocking the Jugo lately, which had seemed to be his late pass-time. Unusual, for he had made it his habit of antagonising the apprentice of the Snake Sage. No, for a first time ever, the white snake actually seemed to agree with her actions when she stated she had to go to Iwagakure. He had looked at her as if he searched a deeper meaning, and wordlessly he had come to understand what she was doing. He had nodded, ever so lightly, and followed her, driven by its own insights.

So it was that Laïs was now setting food within an old familiar area. That was what the Village Hidden in Rocks was to her. She had met a certain Ryo and Tenjin here before, if memory served her well. Back in a time she had just escaped the Land of Demons and somewhat crash-landed into this place. Her experiences at the circle of stones lingered fresh in her memory. One where she had practically be left to die, and another one where she had entered the realm of the dead for the first time. Ever since, nothing had been the same. Ever since, the crow spirits had guided her from one point to another. So it was not unusual for her to see them call for her again, but it had been ... months? Yes. Months since they had reared their ugly heads to cry out.

Face hidden under her hood and body tucked under the black cloak of the Ryujin, the ash crow moved through the gathering crowd of the most foul members society could have swallowed, chewed on and spit out again. Bandits, highwaymen, petty thieves, rapists... Their numbers were incredible, one carrying the scent of corruption harder than the other. Their short-sighted desire for gold and fame driving them all like lambs to the slaughter. Despite the pamphlet Lais held, she had not come for that. She had come to follow the crows. She was a criminal too, at least to some Villages. But where she considered herself but the Shadow of Ill Omens, there was someone much greater, much more powerful she had kept safe to the best of her occult abilities. And it seemed to be high time, certainly much sooner than anticipated, that she returned a slumbering spectre back to its former majesty.

"Harken the flap of my wings and hear my cry...
The ash crow will herald the arrival of Yomi under the World's bleak sky,
but when the dead shall walk the World and the Serpent will swallow the sun,
neither you nor I will be crying when all is said and done."

The words she had whispered were not left unnoticed. As if life itself felt threatened by her prophecy, heads reared to look into her direction with a grimace. The faint smell of death and decay that lingered around the Jugo didn't help her case further. The necromancer halted, amethyst eyes looking to meet their gaze. Analysing them, as they almost wordlessly decided as one collective of minds they had to do something against this approaching darkness.

"What was that you said?!"
"Scum like you tryin' to steal our bread?"
"There's no place for little girls like you. The Tsuchikage needs men for his future."
"Girl? Nah, man. That's a fine woman. I'm sure men such as us could use someone like her."
"Whatever. Let's just teach this nobody she doesn't belong here."

Calm. Calm and controlled. That's what her mistress had always taught her. Or tried to, at least. It remained still within the Jugo's nature to reply to them with a wry smile at the prospect of bringing bloodshed and death by her own hands. She'd try, as usual, not to lose control within her battle frenzy but the chances were slim, as usual, that she'd succeed at that. Before long, Death cadenced the steps of this macabre dance.

The first one threw a punch and had his fist caught within the hands of the Jugo. A punch barely worth of a genin, she'd slowly bend his hand to force him on his knees and continued until it was short of snapping under her strength. All the while, necrosis ate at his skin, making the whole experience more painful and harrowing than it usually was before she eventually let go of the man and watched him howl out in terror and pain. It didn't deteriorate his companions who were only riled up even more by this 'insolence'.

The second one would lash out, a flurry of blows that she'd dodge as she swayed like a serpent between his strikes - left, right, left, right. As predictable as the swings of an untrained man could be. Thinking to herself that if these were the sort of men the Tsuchikage was to enlist, he'd not get all that far in his goals, she'd eventually kick his legs to halt him in his track before kicking him back from where he came. He'd tumble into the crowd that had slowly formed a circle around them, now wagering who would win this round, and instantly hop back until he felt the necrosis eat at the skin of his chest. Worried that it'd eat him alive, he'd hop about in fear until the crowd let him through to find a medic.

One more brave to defeat. Well, brave. Considering his two allies had left the premises, he was suddenly not so sure about 'putting that woman to good use' as he had bragged prior to the situation. Honestly bored with the situation, Laïs would act as if she needed to yawn before resting a hand on her hip while tilting her head in disappointed expectation.

"Why don't you be a good boy and tell me where this Tsuchikage is of yours. Or do you want me to drag the information out of you? I can tell you I had a good teacher when it comes to information extraction. It won't hurt. Probably..."

His eyes grew big at the thought of torture, and as he gasped for air he'd state he wasn't really sure where to find the man. Just that, well, he was supposed to be at the front of the crowd or something since that was where everyone went to, right?

"Mighty kind of you. But next time you threaten me, I won't be so kind as to let you run home with your wet pants."

The man nodded and fled, leaving a mumbling crowd behind who had grown disappointed at the anticlimactic approach in this little tussle. They'd cash whatever they had gained or lost and the Jugo would move on to find this 'Tsuchikage' who was supposedly looking for troops to enrich his forces.

“Progress report. You’re going to have to make this quick. And yes, I know I’m the one who called you here.”
“The Suna Refugees you have brought in have adapted quite well. I see that they are fond of you.”
“It was pretty easy. They weren’t in a good position in Kumo, so I decided to give them a greater purpose. A greater calling. Taking up arms and beating some ass.” Sitting at his desk was Maikumaru, the Nineteenth Tsuchikage, whit his face resting on his fist, elbow on the top of the desk.

The Door opened. Maikumaru raised an eyebrow. Before him was a pristine looking noble and young looking noblesse. Ah great.

“Give us a moment.” He waved the Taskmaster away, and looked at the Noblesse. “Are you another one who wants to lull me into supporting you becoming Daimyo or whatever?” Maikumaru despised the lady, and he had just met her. The arrogant way she carried herself, the clothes she wore, the smug look on her face. Her robes were of disgustingly bright colors.

“I came to speak with you, Lord Tsuchikage. I am a smart woman. And a very perceptive one.” She started pacing around his office, never taking his eyes off him. The Tsuchikage gave her a very hard glare. “I have been doing some research. Some digging. I see that you have grown your personnel base quite well since around the time the daimyo died. And that’s not all that you have been busy with. You have been very proactive and productive, haven’t you? I hear of giant war machines being built, and even you recruiting mercenaries not only throughout the Land of Earth, but also countries as well. You do aaaallll of this while the others bicker amongst themselves bicker. If I wasn’t in my mind you were trying to stage a coup.”

Maikumaru clenched the fist that he rested his head on, his face hardened. She had found him out. He didn’t know how, but she had found him out. But it was already too late. Maikumaru had just about built up the military just enough. His plan was coming into fruiting. “Yes. I am going to stage a coup.” She crossed her arms and swayed her hips to the right. “At least you’re man enough to admit it.” He stood up from his desk and walked around it, moving towards her slowly, but surely. This intimidated the smaller younger woman. “And what will you do with this information? Who do you plan on passing it on to? One of the shit heads who sit on their ass arguing over bullshit? Huh? Is that who you are going to tell? Are you going to tell the noble who you are allied with? Or are you going to strike down a deal with me to keep you quiet about this? Because it doesn’t matter who you tell. We just about finished everything.” A wicked smile stretched across his face. He kept walking towards her, and she kept backing up, her confidant demeanor melting away. His fist clenched and his muscles tensed up. “I am going to bring this entire country into an age of greatness. Into a glorious age. This is going to happen. You can’t stop me. Nothing can stop me. Your allies can’t stop me. Your bitch family that your lucky ass was born into can’t stop me. People like you make me sick. Flaunting around your unearned power. Power that you wave around without a second thought.” He walked her down into the wall. He was close to her face, his smile still large and crazed. “The new age is coming. And there isn’t a damned thing you can do about it. It's time for the age of WARRIORS!!” With the final word, he punched at his stone wall, creating a large crack in it. She yelped in fear and turned away from him. “If you do anything to me…”

“I already know. I bet you made a settlement with someone before coming here. If you don’t come back, they’ll start coming for me. Well guess what? I WANT them to come. I love nothing more than a challenge. But first I have a message for them. You want to know what it is? It’s COME AT ME!!!” He screamed in her face, causing her to yelp even more, practically hugging the wall. She wasn’t prepared for Maikumaru. “You want to know how I’m going to send that message?” She looked away from him, crying. “Please…”
He grabbed her throat with her write hand strangling her. He slid her up the wall, feeling her weak hands against his large one. Her very weak hands. The Tsuchikage was disgusted how weak they were. This only validated his thoughts about the current state of Earth Country. He got angry, and squeezed harder. She faded away, tears down her eyes. She was just about dead. Maik then gave a burst of strength, hearing a large snap in her neck. Her hands fell to her side, and her head limped to the right. He threw her to the side. Her neck was extended, and thinned. Maikumaru took a sigh, and walked back to his desk in his exact same position. “You can come back in now.” The Taskmaster returned, and noticed the body on the floor. “So is that all?”

“Um…” he kept noticing the corpse that laid in the office. “Yes, Lord Tsuchikage. But um...I have another issue that needs your attention. Someone’s attacking some of the new members. They don’t have a headband, so they seem to be a wanderer, a Shinobi with no allegiance. We would have stopped her but she seemed to be useful, and she kept asking for your audience.”

“Whoever came here to tell me of this made a smart move. I don’t really care all that much about those bandits. They bring numbers to us and nothing more. But if someone of no allegiance can take a few down no problem, then that person is worth more than the bandits or mercs she took down. I’ll go see her. Oh. And get this trash out of my office.”

“Um...yes, Lord Tsuchikage.”

Maikumaru would be taken to the woman who wanted to see him. The Sensory Police would continuously keep an eye on her, of course. They were his eyes and ears of Iwagakure. “Upon walking up to her, he crossed his arms, standing tall above her. “So. I’m here. The Tsuchikage. I heard you were askin’ for me. I also heard that you beat up some of the newbies. Care to tell me what was that all about?”

The crowd dispersed as a hulking man stepped in. At least a full inch higher than her, amethyst eye had to raise up to look at the face of the man who proclaimed himself Tsuchikage. He was probably twice as broad as she was, muscled to a point she wasn't quite sure if she could call him handsome, but the strength they'd bring forward was most likely real. After all, if he truly was who he claimed to be, it would be impossible for him to achieve that position without being backed by more than just words. The shinobi world simply didn't work like that, Lais knew that much after Tenjin's lessons. Yet, despite that the woman looked like she hadn't slept in ages, her identity and body hidden by the cloak she wore, she seemed unfazed by his posture. Reminding herself there was a force far more fearful than this man. Than any man, as far as she could tell.

"They were idiots without respect, but they live. It would have been vastly different if Lamya had been the one they opposed with their kind of words.", she explained calmly, dropping the name on purpose as a hint that she knew the woman, and that the Snake Sage would soon become the topic of her conversations. "I heard you were recruiting people of all backgrounds so I came here with an offer. I am Crowly Laïs, student of the great Lamya. While my power is nothing in comparison to hers, I however have the tools to bring her back... If you have the power. I believe I do not have to explain you what it would mean for your goals if she were to be brought back from Yomi and assist you in your endeavours?

The Jugo eyed the Tsuchikage, gauging his reaction on the matter. Waiting for an answer or an inclination of interest towards this deal. It was a risk for him to take, as Saga's 'most wanted' was a person with power reaching in the echelons of the rare few legends. A person who owed nothing to no one and therefore was not necessarily inclined to assist the Tsuchikage. But Laïs knew her mistress to be reasonable despite her tyrannic approach. She rewarded those who came to her aide, the request to take over the Land of Gold but a trivial thing in comparison what she could be doing - after all, had the Four Nations not banded together, she would have reigned over Sunagakure. A testament of her greatness.

"So that is your plan, little one?", the Snake Sage's pet, Uraeus hissed within the shadows of her cloak. "You'd entrust a stranger with this task?"
"I'd entrust it to you, Uraeus, but let's face it, you can't do it. Because if you could, I would not be here at this time of day."
"Make sure we don't regret this."

The voice of Uraeus disappeared form her mind, and so too did its momentary presence. Now all there was was waiting for the Tsuchikage's answer.

Maikumaru crossed his arms and cocked his head. “You have to be really brave to come into my village and beat up my shinobi. And yes. You’ve heard right.”

Maikumaru would listen to her go on, about Lamya. He scratched his chin. “Lamya. Yes. If I remember correctly she was an S Rank Missing Ninja from Konohagakure slain by the current Hokage, Takao Kimura.” Bring her back? Maikumaru would think that she would be insane. But stranger things have happened before in the history of the Shinobi world. And if she would actually succeed Lamya would be an invaluable asset to him and his goals. Maikumaru noticed that she didn’t carry herself much differently than the woman who came into his office earlier. But the difference between the two that the confidence from this one was well earned. “Alright. I'll give you an audience.”

The Tsuchikage looked around and saw two jounin idly standing and chatting. “Hey. You two. Escort her to my office. And keep an eye on her until I get back. I need to talk to the Elders." He looks down at Lias with a stern and serious expression." Stay outta trouble." With that Maikumaru used the body flicker technique heading back to the Kage Office building.

He appeared before the Elders who sat at their table. They all looked at Maikumaru. "I came to ask for advisal. Apparently, a Shinobi with no apparent allegiance came to the village with the proposal of reviving her master, Lamya."

Elder Yunagu, the eldest of them all scrunched up his face. "Lamya? The missing ninja from Konohagakure?"

"Yes. The same one. I've heard that she was rather…unnatural."

"Bringing her back from the dead. Idiotic. The level of power someone would need is far beyond that of an average ordinary shinobi. Who is this person? The one that asked for Lamya to be revived? What connection does she have to her."

"Her name is Laïs. She says she was a subordinate of some sort to Lamya. She took out a few of our genin level mercenaries with ease, some she at least has some strength to her. Though I don't think she's all that powerful. However I'm thinking of at least hearing her out. If what she plans is actually successful, having Lamya on our side can't be anything but an advantage. The nobles won't know what hit them."

"Fine. But make sure that this will actually work. We don't have a lot of time to dally around."

"Actually I haven't been completely honest with you. Me and the medical team have been working on something. Bringing people back from the dead."

Maikumaru crossed his arms and made a displeased face. "Watch who you order around old man."

Yunaga looked at Maikumaru with a serious expression. "Do you know that you are tampering with the natural order of things by delving into such practices."

"The natural Order can go to hell for all I care. I know a little bit about Lamya and how she was an oddity. She could be what makes this project a success."

Yunaga sighed and rubbed his temples. "Such a stubborn child. Fine. But don't say I didn't warn you when this blows up in your face. I don't like this one bit, Maikumaru, but I'll trust you enough for now."

Maikumaru nodded his head and walked back to his office, where he was expecting Laïs. He would wave away the Jounin that were there and have a seat that was in his desk. "Alright. I'm going to hear you out on this one. Because if you can actually pull this off, you'll be rewarded vastly for it. Not only with the return of what I am assuming to be your sensei, but trust me, I can be a very generous man. Now. I have a question. What is your relationship with Lamya? How did you meet? And tell me about her power."

First step? Done. An audience with the kage was in her pocket. Now the hardest part had yet to begin. She'd smile faintly at the Tsuchikage when he stated she had to stay out of trouble. An amusing thought, for the Jugo was generally the one bringing the trouble whether or not she wanted to. She'd watch him flicker away and walked with the jounin he had appointed towards his office. Amethyst eyes would take a long look at the two escorts, imprinting their appearance and chakra signature. She'd observe the road they took through the Hidden Village, connecting the new sections of the Village with what she already knew from a previous visit. Complete the puzzle within her mind. Much like she had done with Konohagakure when she had pilfered medical knowledge and dossiers. There was no saying when such intel could be of use. If not for her own gains as a medical-nin and necromancer, then for the sake of others.

Arriving at the building, she'd be appointed a spot where she'd have to wait for the Tsuchikage's return. Sitting at his personal desk seemed to be out of the question, apparently. Formalities, really. Formalities that allowed her to go over what she had and knew for the revival of Lamya. Firstly, Einherjar, her spear from the otherworld, where Lamya's soul slept in between whichever other spectres she had captured within it. It made her wonder what it felt like, being an entity without a body. Being trapped in a weapon until someone bothered to set you free. Would it be something she'd get scolded for? Or would she be rewarded for her loyalty despite the twisted ways she'd have gone about it? Hopefully the latter, as the thought about the former was sufficient to invoke the nightmares to the edge of her broken mind.

Secondly, the 'Three Keys'. She had recovered the journals of her parents and by doing so she had gathered the lost knowledge pertaining to power, immortality and divinity. She hadn't had much time to flip through it all and apply it to whatever was left of the inhabitants of the Land of Marsh, but a quick scan had proven interesting. To think she had put reading the books off for so long... The child-Jugo not caring for intricate secrets as she simply sought to indulge her whims. Things were different now. Vastly different. Under Lamya's guidance she had tasted immortality. She had then experimented with it while the Snake Sage waged a war among the giants, the Jugo's power inadequate for what occurred there. Then, when the Snake vanished from the world of the living, she had harnessed her own occult power and pushed beyond the limits to preserve what she could of her mistress. An act that had costed her greatly already as she hardly slept and her body no longer registered touch. But it wouldn't stop there. There was more, much more she could achieve.

Now the third part came into play. The Tsuchikage returned to his office, waved the jounin away and offered her a seat at his desk. The shadow of ill omens followed, and took her seat at his desk without a word or sound. He'd speak about vast rewards, about being generous. But as usual, every Demon expected a price to be paid first. Information.

"I'm Crowly Laïs, from the Land of Demons. I'm not exactly a stranger to your country, Tsuchikage. I believe Iwagakure should hold some information about my identity somewhere considering I've sided with Tenjin, an Iwa-nin, in the past. But no matter, as I stated previously, I'm Lamya's student. I am the Ash Crow of the Ryujin, the army she was building up to make Sunagakure hers until the Four Nations gathered to lay waste again to a forsaken land. Her eyes, her ears; she sends me where she intends to appear.", she explained. Supposedly in a more 'elaborate' way, at least in her eyes, but not necessarily in those of others. She couldn't help it the Nations had destroyed the Ryujin before collecting proper information. Their ineptitude her opportunity to survive and carry with her the legacy of a faction the world considered done for.

"We met in the Land of the Mad God. Kumogakure. I believe there was an event going on there at the time. The Chuunin Exams, if I recall correctly. At Tenjin's suggestion, I had travelled there to see what the shinobi world could offer me, but it is my ability to sense and read the chakra of others that had me completely overwhelmed when I sensed her. So I sought her out. Trying to discover why her presence, her power, was so much greater than anyone else's I had ever sensed. There is nothing more to it. Curiosity, a pact, a future."

There was more to it, of course. Just not the sort that'd interest him. Explaining how she fought her clones, how she was shown the shinobi world? There were more interesting things to talk about. The road back to Iwagakure, then to Land of Wind to join the Ryujin? The Hidden Village should be remotely aware of that as her stay had only benefited Iwa's shinobi influence; she had assisted them in their missions during that time. D-ranks, C-ranks, as she searched for her own power and possibilities. Her time with the Ryujin? Now that... That was for her and Lamya to know, for it easily marked her as a criminal to Sunagakure should it still exist and to Konohagakure, if they cared.

"As for her power? Words describing it would fail. Pages relating to it would shrivel. And tales recounting it would end. The Snake Sage is only slumbering, Tsuchikage. Her body may have perished but her soul lives on. I stand before you now because she asked me to do so, to search for a new body. Provide her with one, and you will be capable of experiencing for yourself what sort of power she wields. I'm certain you'll be... pleasantly amazed."

With her answers given, she'd wait to see what came next. More questions? A request for proof? Would he share a needed key of information?

Maikumaru leaned in his seat, his elbows on his desk, and listened to her attentively. His eyes went wide when she mentioned Tenjin’s name. That was a name he hadn’t heard in a very very long time. The last he saw of him was in Sunagakure a long time ago. When Maikumaru first met him, he was sure that Tenjin would become the Tsuchikage. How the times have changed. He continued to pay attention to her speak, learning that Lamya had her sights set on Sunagakure before the four other nations came in and lay stakes on it. It was there that he had found his resolve and became the Shinobi he is today. He remembered how much of a straint it left on his psyche and questioned his own ability to be a shinobi. It was also at that time Maikumaru first met his father. But the main thing about this was that Lamya had gathered forces. The Tsuchikage was particularly interested in this, wondering if this Ryujin can be reassembled. However, that was something to be asked if Lamya can be resurrected. He could find a lot of use in not only the powerful shinobi herself, but her forces. And then he heard of her power. Naturally, she was an S Rank Missing Ninja, her power was certainly going to be high. However, Maikumaru thought of what Lias was telling him to be Hyperbole. “Well. If she was as strong as you say, she wouldn’t have died. But an S Rank Shinobi is an S Rank Shinobi, regardless. All you need is a body, right? I can easily get you one of those. Follow me. You and I are going on a small field trip.”

If Maikumaru ever needed a dead body on a short notice he knew exactly where to go. Jigoku. His recently built prison. Maikumaru went to great lengths to spread rumors about Jigoku throughout the Land of Earth, to deter anyone from breaking any of the serious crimes. Specifically Shinobi. He even decided to make such rumors true. Every so often, he would pardon some prisoners. For no other reason than to show the world what Jigoku could do to people. To show the world how all inmates can be broken. Jigoku shattered them in every which way possible. Mind, body, and soul. Many are tortured enough in Jigoku to opt out of life entirely. Because of this there is a high chance of a corpse lying around somewhere.
He guided her through Iwagakure. Maikumaru received many greetings from the citizens and shinobi that resided there.

Eventually they reached the outskirts of Iwagakure. Until they reached large double doors that were implanted into the ground, with the kanji for Hell placed on it, with the markings of a Fuinjutsu seal surrounding said Kanji. Maikumaru reached in his pocket and pulled out a paper with a seal on it. He threw the paper on top of the seal. The paper was then sealed away, and the door opened. “Wait here.”

Maikumaru walked into the depths of Jigoku. The doors closed behind him. Upon going in, he was approached by one of the guards who wore an Oni Mask. He bowed to him. Maikumaru nodded. Communication here was left to a minimum with the guards. Being a guard required a mental fortitude that would be comparable to that of the ANBU. Jigoku was a dark place, designed to break the minds of inmates. They are ordered to leave all compassion at the door, leaving only their hatred and destain, becoming the demons they are supposed to be. “Do we have any inmates who recently decided that Jigoku was too much for them…”

The guard nodded once more and went through the second gate of Jigoku. He then entered the cells. The actual prison had cells lined up to one another. There were rows of cells that created layers, that would circle around, creating a cylinder that was 200m in diameter. How far down it went was a mystery. Its constantly being constructed, new layers are being added as new lows of human trash is discovered. However, Maikumaru is lead to a cell closer to the top. "When in how?"

"Not too long before you arrived, Lord Tsuchikage. He was a poison specialist. He snuck a poison inside the prison, and used it to take his own life."

Maikumaru raised an eyebrow. He turned around and grabbed the guard by his throat. He raised him to be eye level with the Tsuchikage. " Your job is to be the first guard of the first gate. A prisoner that is able to sneak poison into this prison is very problematic. I guess that means your searches aren't thorough enough. Make it so they are. Am I clear?"

"Y-yes…Lord…Tsuchikage."

Maikumaru released his grip, allowing for the guard to fall to his knees, gasping for air. "Wrap him up in cloth. His body will be needed for experimentation. I'll be waiting at the door when it's done. And expect an inspection of personnel very soon."

"Yes. Lord Tsuchikage."

Maikumaru waited at the second gate, before the steep stairs that led to the exit. After some time, a large human shape bundle of bandages. He crossed his arms. Maikumaru took the body and flung it over his shoulder. The Gates of Jigoku reopened. The Tsuchikage walked up the stairs still hiding the body. "I have the needed requirement. We just need to go farther out into the badlands. I don't want anyone in the village seeing me carrying what probably is a corpse. It will leave unrest."

Maikumaru would lead Laïs out into the rocky badlands of Earth Country. When moving far enough he stopped and tossed the body on the ground. "Alright. There you go. Do your thing, man. I hope this works. And if it turns out it doesn't, I want you to know that you will owe me in return. Your services will be needed. But before we move on. Tell me. Do you know where Tenjin is now?"

The kage had some worries about Lais' statement on Lamya's power even if she came to state that Lamya hadn't died. Physically, yes, she was no more, but spirituality the Serpent was just as alive as she was. But even then, perhaps he was taking her words a little too literally. Lamya's power was vast to a point few were her equals. Whoever had torched her down could simply have had a lucky day - such was life after all. The Snake Sage was the sort to be close to a divine, their medical prowess unparalleled as far as the Jugo was concerned. Even the expert on necrosis that she had been referred didn't reach her power despite the respect granted by Lamya. But Lais would merely smile it away. The Tsuchikage, despite his position, didn't know everything. Ignorance was often a misguided perception. Perhaps, once her mistress had returned, he'd understand the words she had stated.

For now, she followed the man. Into a prison. Into a failure of control. Into a discussion that left the man stammering. He certainly was not an easy man to deal with by the looks of it. Not that he could blame him. Failure was... not accepted. Maybe not worth to be killed over yet, but certainly one to be made clear no second opportunity of the sort should present itself. She'd hide a faint smile at the cruelty of it all, watch the man be wrapped up. They'd wait for the package at the second gate. Seemingly no need to use her powers of the dead at this point, the dead man was swung of the Tsuchikage's shoulders. Worried he might be seen. An odd statement in the eyes of the Jugo, who saw nothing wrong with carrying away a body for disposal but she assumed it came with the status of his position. He had men for that. Probably techniques that made things easier too. What did she know of shinobi workings after all?

From the prison they'd walk to a distant place without a soul. But. She vaguely recognised the place. The circle of stones was not that far off. She could sense its pull. She could hear the crows call out. The kage had no clue, dropping the body and telling her to get started. She'd nod, and pick him up in turn before she pointed at a certain direction.

"I know a good place not too far off. It should offer the energy needed for this ritual.", while she guided him to the circle of stone pillars known as 'Rockhenge', a secluded place visited by a rare few as the whole things felt more like a monument than really anything of true value, she'd catch the Tsuchikage asking her a question about Tenjin. It was a good question, for she had to think about that past for a while. What did happen to him? "He was on a mission to retrieve goods. Rather, he was supposed to oppose refugees from arming themselves or so. Those weapons belonged to the Ryujin, so we were both in a form of competition to get the goods. He wanted it for Iwa, I wanted them returned to the Ryujin. Unfortunately, we were both ambushed by the refugees who had anticipated us. I lost sight of him during the fight but I'd be surprised if he'd been killed since he was a skilled man. Unfortunately, the Siege of Inabayama... damaged a lot of things no matter the faction. If he didn't return to your Village, I can only hope he's fine."

Arriving at the circle of stones, Lais laid the corpse to rest in its centre. She'd unwrap it, take out a kunai and start carving a couple of eldritch symbols which some might recognise as scriptures from the Land of Demons. Once that was done, she proceeded to carve more symbols around the corpse. Chanting all the while, the symbol would glow red with power when she cut her own hand and allowed her Jugo blood to splatter the corpse.

A torrent of darkness swirled around the stones and cloak the environment in an ghastly chill as the sacrifice opened the unseen gate towards the Otherworld. Outside of the circle, spectres gathered to watch, to hunger for the living souls that stood out of their reach. Lais would look around for a moment, assuring herself the energy of the stone circle would do its work and once she concluded that seemed to be the case, she took a brief glance at the Tsuchikage to gauge his reaction.

"Whatever happens, don't leave the stone circle. Spectres and wraiths don't take kindly to the living perturbing the realm of Yomi. We technically do not belong here, and since it is their promise that no living soul leaves Yomi untainted I can assure you they'll do everything to reach us and tear us to pieces."

Einherjar, her trusted spear would manifest within her hands. The spear, otherwise looking like a simple metallic weapon, now seemed to brim with energy. Flimsy reflections of claws, screaming mouths and vengeful souls seemingly reaching out of it. The seals that were placed by Lais in the previous ritual where she had drawn in and trapped Lamya's soul shining brightly.

"Forgive me, mistress. It was the best I could do so as not to loose you. But today, you return among the living thanks to this offer. Once again the world will tremble in your wake and hushed whispers shall speak about you in fear. Now... I release you from this steel prison.

Arise, Lamya, and reclaim your righteous position among the living!"

A rumble could be heard beyond the torrent of darkness surrounding the monument of stone and rock, the perfect circle of sacred and holy stones meant to be both the gateway to a higher understanding and the last vestige against the mysteries that lay beyond the reach of mortal minds.  A sound whipped up in the harsh torrent outside of the stones, a murmer arising from the darkness akin to the sound of a thousand whispering women, the sizzling sound of steam, of air, of breath.

The ground underneath the corpse started to rise, higher and higher, lifting up the lifeless remains till all of a sudden the ground which had risen to a height of easily eight feet within the circle of blood and runes Laïs had created, burst open and revealed its innards in the form of hundreds upon hundreds of squirming and slithering snakes, drowning the corpse in a pool of cold flesh and hardened scales.

For a moment, that seemed to be it, a certain calm came over the torrent outside of the circle of stones and within the pool of snakes. Alas, as probably Laïs had most likely predicted after hearing the silence, this was simply the beginning of what would without a doubt be a horrifying experience for the uninitiated. It was after all, not just the resurrection of a simple woman, but that of a snake, a dragon...a scaly scourge upon the world. If either the young Jugo or the Tsuchikage would turn their attention to the torrent of darkness, they'd see the deep, dark shadow looming within said torrent; a long and seemingly endless body of immense proportion slithering within said void, suddenly stopping when from all sides of the stone circle, in total eight pairs of gleaming, sinister yellow eyes with slit pupils seemed to observe the moment at hand.

With a gurgled, yet somehow still ear-piercing scream, the corpse clawed its way out of the pool of slithering snakes, the sound of bones cracking, shattering and reforming audible to both Laïs and the Tsuchikage. The poor sod's skin turned nearly see-through and dry as parchment, before all of a sudden, bloodvessels appeared and started to cover the quickly reforming body with a pale, almost alabaster white skin. The more time passed, the more snakes of the pool below the animated corpse seemed to vanish, seemingly slithering into the corpse itself, granting it nourishment for the ardeous task of reforming flesh, bone, skin and organs to fit its new soul perfectly.

The screams from the corpse turned in both pitch and tone, almost going to the point of sounding like the wail of a fullblown banshee, when all of a sudden, from all sides of the stone circle, eight massive streams of darkness converged upon the reforming corpse, drowning out both it's cries, its wails and the sounds of its ever reforming foundations.

The entire center of the Rockhenge was now consumed by a similar darkness as the torrent outside of it, yet as the seconds passed, the darkness slowly faded, with the sound of snakes hissing left as the only sound to be heard coming from it.

"Ashes to ashes, Dust to dust...Defying those words is tantamount to an undying and unbound arrogance," The smooth and silky voice rose from the coccoon of darkness at the center of the Rockhenge as it faded away, revealing a single woman with long jet black hair reaching down to just below her waste, an athletic, voluptuous and surprisingly youthful physique adorned with pale alabaster skin and the apparent unique feature of two curved horns protruding from her head like a thick, ivory crown, signifying her status among the mortals. However, her most distinct feature, was revealed when she opened her eyes: a pair of golden eyes akin to that of a snake, with a thin silver line within them, just around the edges of her slit pupils, which observed carefully the surroundings in which she had been brought back from the abyss of souls that was supposed to be the place of her eternal torment after the most unfortunate events that had transpired after the fall of sunagakure and consequentially her own Ryujin Foundation. "Yet, such arrogance is not beneath me... I have returned and with me, so has the balance of this miserable world."

Slowly, the woman turned her attention to Laïs, seemingly needing a moment to truly absorb what was happening, for as she looked at the Jugo girl, she also noticed the torrent of darkness outside of the circle of stones, slightly annoyed by the presence of so many who had passed on before and after her. Luckily, as the runes on the ground faded, so did the ones on the Jugo child, releasing the souls within the darkness from their bindings, allowing them to go back from whence they came. "Hmm..." With the torrent of darkness dying down, the woman moved slowly, yet with an air of certainty towards the young Jugo girl, her fingers gently sliding across Laïs' throat, all the way up to her chin, lifting it up a bit so the woman with the snake eyes could look directly into the Jugo girl's eyes. "Such cold eyes...almost like mine."

However, the woman's moment of trance seemed to instantly be broken when she noticed that the Jugo girl was not the only one within the stone circle. A man of rather large physique and ample muscularity stood at the other end, an aura of strength and authority emanating from him and thus already showing himself to be someone irksome and bothersome to deal with for the snake-like woman. "I don't know you though... judging from the looks of it this is Iwagakure's land..." Not letting her guard down, the woman gazed directly towards the Tsuchikage, the corners of her lips curling upwards in a vicious grin. "I reckon...you aided my dear Jugo child with my resurrection and most likely you desire something from me in return. So...do you wish to plea for a deal with me?"

Maikumaru took hold of his chin, wondering where his companion and friend could have gone. He pushed the thought to the back of his mind. He paced, curiously watching Laïs go to work. He watched her take out a kunai, cutting into the corpse he provided. She started to carve odd symbols into the earth. The sight of it reminded him of the jashinists. He was beginning to get the feeling of unease. But his gut instinct told him that this was for the better. However her odd chanting wasn’t helping him get anymore at ease. And so he kept pacing in anxiety.

His mind drifted off, allowing her to fiddle further. “Are you positive this will-”

As soon as he opened his mouth, darkness rose around his surroundings. He quickly moved his head from left to write, trying to make sense of what was happening. There was darkness. It was everywhere. Maikumaru was seconds away from breaking into his brawling stance, like an animal brandishing its’ defense mechanisms. Laïs would give him instructions to not leave the circle. He would relieve himself of his signature fighting stance and crossed his arms. “Fine, but hurry this up. All of this is putting me on edge.”

Maikumaru would notice, in her hand was a spear. She started to speak to it. He cocked his head to the right, raising an eyebrow. So, she’s in there somehow?

“Arise, Lamya, and reclaim your righteous position among the living!"

An earthquake comparable to that of Maikumaru’s own making could be heard. He started to hear voices and wasn’t sure if he was going crazy. And then the ground started to rise. Where the body of the lifeless inmate lay, the ground began to rise, about a foot taller than Maikumaru. The corpse popped open. Rather than blood, snakes spilt out of the body. It would spill out of the body and engulf it. Maikumaru had never seen so many snakes at once before. And then there was nothing. Or what was thought to be nothing. The Tsuchikage looked to the right. To the darkness. There was something that slithered within it. He narrowed his eyes to get a better view of it. He placed his hands to his sides and clenched his fists. He wasn’t sure if he was getting ready for a fight, but he was prepared. And then, eight pairs of eyes looked upon them, yellow piercing eyes. “You ever get the feeling you’re being watched?”

His attention was turned towards the rustling in the snakes. There were the sounds of bones breaking and skin tearing, the sounds of awful wretched screams. The darkness itself, eight streams of it slithered into the body. He was intrigued at the combination of drowning snakes and darkness. “I wonder how long this is going to go on?”

"Ashes to ashes, Dust to dust...Defying those words is tantamount to an undying and unbound arrogance..."

The Tsuchikage turned his attention to the shroud of darkness. It began to open. And Maikumaru laid his eyes on Lamya. She was a pale woman, one with horns on her head. She looked surprisingly young. Her eyes were yellow, and slit like a serpent. She examined her surroundings noticing being surrounded by darkness. She carried herself just like the woman he had killed earlier. However, she was ginuwine in her demeanor, like Laïs was. And then she made her way to Laïs. They had their moment until she turned her attention to Maikumaru.

“Yes. I am Maikumaru, the Tsuchikage. I helped her bring you back from the dead to help me with something important. I have a lot of plans to. To create an empire. Not too long ago, the Daimyo died. When he took power, the dynasty was overthrown with it. No one thought of what would happen if the Daimyo was no longer around. So there is a power vacuum in the process. I plan to take advantage of that. I plan to take this country to great heights, and bring an age of warriors, while all of the . First, we had to construct war machines. And then the next plan was to build our forces. I have been taking over Mercenary Clans, and Bandits, and having them join my cause. That’s where Laïs came from. And then, my plan is to take over Gold Country, north of Earth Country. And then, I’m going to take out my rivals. I will either kill them or they will bow to me. And anyone who has a problem with that will easily get crushed with my bare hands. And after that we militarize Earth Country. There will be no such thing as a civilian in this country. And then we reach out to other nations. And take them too. First the countries that surround the Earth Country. Mountain. Rock. Goat. All of them. And then we move out to the south west until I am fully satisfied. We will siphon the wealth from all of these nations, keeping them alive enough to sustain the power of Earth Country. I want you, Lamya, to join me in my cause, help me claim stakes on this world. Reassemble the Ryujin Foundation, and I promise you, you will be a very powerful woman. I am a very generous man.” Maikumaru reached out his hand to Lamya with an ambitious smile on his face, one that saw the future in his grasp. “This is something to consider. We can take the world by storm.”

The price for such dark rituals was not cheap. As the torrent of otherworldly energies amassed the forces of the Serpent, it also drained the Jugo's health. She might not feel any pain, the black blood she spit out was signal enough that her body was not doing well. She'd fall to her knees as dizziness overtook her. As Yomi claimed a part of her living soul for its own. The dead body alone had not sufficed as a price, the release of the great Serpent partially allowing freedom to the other trapped wraiths within the spear. They'd come to collect. The hand that held the spear had turned ice cold, rigid and devoid of life as she endured the legit trade. One never escaped Yomi without losing something, and while the Tsuchikage was preserved from such hardships as he did not actively partake in this sinister ritual, the Jugo was not.

She was as pallid as the dead themselves by the time Lamya had returned to life, the voice of her mistress like a siren luring her back to the world of the living. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust. Truer words would not be spoken today, but it was only the touch of the Snake Sage upon her skin that sparked a reminder the Jugo was not dead yet. Indeed, when the Snake Sage laid eyes upon her, Lais' amethyst eyes barely held a spark of life in them. They reflected the cold hatred Yomi bore for the living souls on this World. The cold eyes of the dead who had almost claimed the Jugo for themselves. Only when Lamya left her to take note of the Tsuchikage, the semblance of life returned and a free hand rested upon her chest to infuse the internal wound with Yin-chakra. Undoing the damage Yomi's deathly energies had taken away - returning what was gone to where it belonged.

"I had not considered you capable of this... Perhaps I might have to rethink my opinion about you, child. You are not so useless after all.", the silver tongue of Uraeus whispered within her mind. "However, with Lamya's return, don't mind if I seek myself new company."
"Careful not to compliment me, Uraeus. You might get a stoke if you do."

Like a shadow of its own, the white snake slid off the Jugo and moved to curl around Lamya. Leaning on her spear in exhaustion, her eyes drifted towards the conversation between the two. This... deal between the power-hungry kage and the Serpent Demon was beyond the Jugo's influence. This was a discussion of powers where she didn't belong as of yet. She listened carefully to his ambitions, picking up his desire to turn every single man in the Land of Earth into militia or warrior. Take over nearby countries, crush his opponents. Become lord of it all. As if the dead within Yomi sighed themselves, Lais' lowered her eyes in partial disapproval of this idea. To conquer all was not what she was concerned about, but the thought of leaving no peasant unturned also meant the military would have none to feed them. Power for power's sake, without a backbone to support it. Even then, the Jugo said nothing. Her decision on the matter depended on the words of one person only at this point - that of her mistress, Lamya.

"I'll go wherever Lamya goes.", she'd state simply and clear, pulling the ashen black Ryujin cloak in its place. With her role done for the time being, she'd pull the hood of the cloak over her head and take a step back. Still recovering from the whole ritual, and waiting until the Great Snake had made her decisions.

Though she listened attently to the Tsuchikage, Lamya noticed how weak and feeble the Jugo looked when all was over, it was at least warrant for a moment of concern given the child's wellbeing was after all an important, if not crucial, part of her way of remaining in this world of the living for now. Yet when taking notice of how the young Jugo skillfully managed to grant herself some respite from the energy having been drained from her, Lamya's attention went back to the Tsuchikage.

It was intriguing to hear him talk about taking over the gold country, the earth country, to hear his desire for an immense empire ruled not by civilians, but by the shinobi themselves, a militaristic empire to trample all in its wake. Though she herself had failed to take on such a venture on her own when she was the one instigating the reform of the land of wind, she was nonetheless quite impressed that there were still those who held such a dream. However, the man seemed to be a bit too selfcentered, too convinced of his own power and as such would pose a danger to his own desires. Lamya had seen it and had felt it before, how her own hubris had caused her downfall at the hands of that Konoha shinobi, but here she was again, standing in front of someone who seemed to have little to no idea what to actually do when building an empire.

"Building an empire purely on a strong military and the strength thereof...is an exhausting and quite frankly rather tedious task," The woman let out a soft sigh, feeling how a familiar sense washed over her when Uraeus the white snake slithered onto her and curled himself around her, laying his head to rest upon her shoulder. "You consider yourself to be strongest man of this nation, as you very well should, being that you are its Tsuchikage, but your plan seems to be based on the idea that there would be none strong nough to interfere with your plans, none strong enough to oppose you. You seek a nation without civilians, even though to build a machine of war, you need civilians to support it no matter what...

Letting out another sigh, Lamya placed a hand against her forehead and tilted her head a bit backwards. This was not exactly what she had hoped to come into when being brought back to life. Heck, she hadn't even planned on dying and that still happened, yet on the other hand...having such a warmongering fool as a partner would not be all that bad. She let the air slowly out of her lungs in a soft, yet somewhat sinister chuckle, before reaching out for the extended hand of the Tsuchikage. "You are strong, but you lack vision...Tsuchikage-dono. However, I will accept your offer and aid you to the best of my abilities. However..." She instantly moved closer, so close that her luscious lips could touch the Tsuchikage's own, her hands gently touching his chest as she looked him straight in his eyes. "Where you might be generous, I am fickle...disappoint me and your life and dreams are forfeited."

Smiling gently in a somewhat suspicious way, Lamya then took a step back and looked down, letting out a gentle laugh. "But first...would you mind finding me something to wear...I don't think being naked all the time is part of this accord, is it?"

The Brawler of the Stone took note of Lais’s loyalty. That was something he had to admire in any shinobi. “I’ll go wherever Lamya goes.” Strong in spirit as in body. Maikumaru would listen to Lamya speak. She sounded very skeptical of his plan. “Hm. If I was scared of my plans getting foiled by someone as strong, or potentially stronger, then they would for certain never come to full fruition. We are shinobi. We take risks. And the reward for my village, my country, and myself is far too high for me to pass up. And what I mean is that every person in Earth Country will learn how to be a Shinobi. Of course there will still be the infrastructure to take care of, that cannot change, but it puts my mind at ease to know that even a chef, even painter could be called at a moment's notice to support the military, and to defend themselves from invaders. But that’s something that can be discussed at a later time.”

She then reached her hand out towards Maikumaru, while confirming that she will assist him in his plans, despite her skepticism. Oh shit she actually said yes. But to go along with her accepting of his offer, her reached out hand placed itself on her chest. Her body came closer to Maikumaru’s. He stood confused, unsure how to take this. And then her face came closer to his. He was unsure if this was to seduce him or intimidate him. While her intent was unknown, it did make him feel a bit uneasy, though he best tried not to show it. However, when she gave him a warning about disappointing her, his inward demeanor changed. His face dropped, showing great sternness. He placed his hand on her lower back, his eyes narrowed and his brows lowered. He tilted his head, and said “I may be generous, but I think it would be a good idea to not disappoint me either, Lamya.” When Lamya backed away from him, he backed away too.

He took off his Tsuchikage cloak and handed it to Lamya. “Use this to cover yourself up.” And then he took his shirt off, and tossed that to her as well. “And you can use this for a skirt or something. We can get you something proper when we have you settled in Iwagakure. There is a lot to be discussed and a lot to be done. Firstly, there’s the matter of your forces. Ryujin. They will have to be brought into order. I can trust you that you will be able to lead them properly as a special battalion. There are spare rooms in the Kage office for both of you to use.” Maikumaru walked leading them both back to the Hidden Stone. He celebrated inwardly. Everything was coming together so smoothly. Everything was working into his favor.

“The status so far is excellent. We have obtained the bandits and mercenaries we need from across various countries to join us. The process of training them has been long underway. On top of that we have constructed the Behemoths. Giant Subterranean Machines that causes Earthquakes on a small scale. With each other’s help, victory in achieving our goals is already be ours.”

When Lamya and the Tsuchikage seemed to have a moment for themselves, Lais furtively looked sideways. She knew her mistress had her ways of getting things done, and she was rather used to not pay too much attention to those ways. In moments such as these, Lais' mind tended to drift away towards her own plans and experiments. Plans to achieve a form of immortality of her own and become the supreme power over the dead. And the plentiful experiments she had conducted in the past which had, unfortunately, not fully achieved what she had aimed for. Though every new attempt inched closer towards the solution, stealing people from their community to serve as the step-stones towards her own future of power didn't come with risks. Suna had been easy, the refugees no longer a force to protect them. The Land of Marsh was the same, their demise an unfortunate consequence of the Jugo's senjutsu berserking. But the dead had served her well for the brief period she had been there. Now that she was in Iwagakure, it was yet to be seen how she could deal with this problem without getting to much in trouble.

Her attention was pulled back when Lamya requested for something to be worn. Right. The Tsuchikage offered her a cloak to preserve a sense of modesty, but Lais presumably had something better. Something that fitted the Empress down to a T - Shade, her personal armour. She'd clap her hands to invoke Fuinjutsu symbols, which disappeared again in a puff of smoke barely a second later. In her arms, she carried the full attire Lamya had worn as the Empress of the Sands and infamous leader of the Ryujin. Then the sweaty shirt of the Tsuchikage was being thrown at Lamya as a temporary aide, leaving the Jugo struggling with her own mind for a moment. Laying eyes on a chiselled body was not a disagreeable sight, but at the same time the though of having to wear a used shirt above a proper one was not quite a gesture she'd appreciate personally. Whether Lamya would approve of it, that was left to be seen.

"Perhaps an old familiar set of gear would do you more justice? Unless you'd prefer to remain incognito until you've fully recovered, that is.", she'd address Lamya with the ANBU suit in hands. If she refused it, Lais would simply seal them again until some other moment where they'd be requested. When the whole deal was settled, she'd follow the two giants as they continued to discuss a couple of finer regulations among them. The Ryujin being one of them, Lais' attention was caught quickly on the matter considering she was, in effect, still a Ryujin as far as it concerned her. Serving as a special battalion was somewhat of an odd purpose in her opinion. The Ryujin were already a 'special battalion' considering they were the chosen of Lamya, even though some served... better roles than others.

"What are your goals exactly for the Ryujin? For, well, me, in other words since few of us remain?", she'd ask unabashed, feeling like the Tsuchikage missed the fact that Lais was a Ryujin despite that the Siege of Inabayama eradicated a massive amount of their troops. The Jugo wasn't so keen on being ordered around by any other than Lamya, even if her mistress had agreed to a mutual beneficial cooperation. No, she wanted to know what she'd be thrown into exactly, if she was not to be treated any different than the others. That being said, the necromancer could see them as an ANBU equivalent, but the final decision would depend on the Tsuchikage's perspectives and what Lamya intended to do with her own ambitious plans now that she had returned.

They'd eventually reach the Kage's office and with it be offered personal rooms. It sounded like quite a privilege but at the same time, considering the shinobi activity and protection, felt pretty much like a gilded cage. Still, quite exhausted from the ritual, the Jugo welcomed the thought of a soft bed for a change - something she had missed while she pilfered Konoha's medical archives and travelled around to retrieve her journals. She'd not miss the kage's pleasureful comment that all seemed to go according to his plans; the recruiting of criminals, their training and the construction of Behemoths. The Jugo yawned involuntarily. Not out of boredom, but sheer fatigue. The sort she felt almost every single day now, since nightmares still haunted her sleep.

"Are those Behemoths something like the Kugutsu puppets I've heard about in the past?"

"Oh my, aren't you a feisty one," The stark naked woman's lips curled up into a rather sly smile, not showing wether or not the Tsuchikage's warning was even truly taken seriously by her. Closing her eyes and letting out a soft sigh, the woman suddenly tilted her head a tiny bit to the right when she noticed the man offer her his cloak which stood as a symbol of him being a kage, only to have her respond to this gesture with a slightly cruel sounding chuckle. "My my, aren't you cute. However, I'd rather wear nothing at all, than to wear the robes of a status so far beneath me."

Even if it might have sounded like an insult to the man's no doubt hard earned status as a kage, given he did not seem to know of her at first glance, it was possibly a rather big surprise to hear such words, but the Jugo girl however, seemed to have the solution to this issue, surprising the snake sage with something she had not thought about: her own attire from when she was still bent on her desire to take her fair share of the Land of Wind and to fashion it to her own image. With a chuckle, the woman accepted Laïs' offer, calmly putting on each and every part of her sleek, and skintight armor, the ornamental features of said outfit truly marking her as someone who had managed to stand up against the combined might of four of the five great nations, only to be struck down by an unnamed warrior of such caliber, even Lamya herself could not deny herself to be his lesser in terms of true combat. "This is...much better, thank you my dear little Laïs...even now you manage to surprise me with your astounding ingenuity."

With these clothes on, the woman turned her attention back to the Tsuchikage, flexing her muscles a bit, cracking her neck as she tilted her head from side to side with a vicious grin upon her otherwise sublime visage. "As my dear Protege has said, the Ryujin likely did not remain in that great of a number after that disastrous siege which evidentally also cost me my own life. I do not know how much time has passed since, but I doubt their actual number would matter much and they would not put in much weight to suit your certainly grand ambitions..."

With Uraeus hissing pleasantly as a distraction, Lamya started caressing him for a moment, before snapping her attention back to Maikeru with a look of cruel intensity and unseen determination. "However, unlike people such as yourself...who must take to have something they did not possess before...I merely need to create it. As I might assume, you seem rather lacking in your knowledge on me...quite unpleasant, but perhaps given my death, not at all unexpected. To revive the Ryujin, to recreate them...better, stronger and more powerful than before, I will need a few certain things...some will most likely be obtainable in your village and its surroundings, others however will need me to return to the place where I lost my life."

With a flick of her finger though, a massive black aura rose up from Lamya, a massive pressure falling upon those who were close enough, as if her sheer might was turning gravity itself upon those in her close proximity, showing an amount of such unbridled chakra and will that it would've frozen lesser mortals or forced them to turn tail and run depending on their own amount of willpower and defiance to her overwhelming presence. "Though I forgive you for not knowing all too much about my person...do not dear try to warn or threaten me again or I will show you..." within the blink of an eye, the woman shot from her position to right in front of the Tsuchikage, her golden orbs with extremely narrow slits for pupils looking him dead in his own eyes, with despite him being easily head and shoulders taller than her, she seemed to look at him from above. "Just what kind of monster you have managed to reawaken."

With her thoughts finally cleared from her mind, she dispelled her own chakra and smiled, patting Maikeru on the shoulders gently. "Now than, why don't we just go to your place and discuss what I need for me to uphold my end of our deal, so we can have some outstanding results for your ambitions to play with, hmm?"

The Tsuchikage rolled his eyes. Tore up his shirt for nothing. He threw the tattered cloth on the ground and put his cloak back on. He crosses his arms at the Laïs's question on her position. He could have her, and the other Ryujin for that matter serve the same purpose as the bandits and mercenaries that recently join, act as an invasion force for the short term, and act as enforcers for the long term. However, he believed that would be such a waste of an opportunity. He wondered what Lamya can do on her own with the Ryujin. But then there is something on the matter of trust. "For now you will be the same as the bandits and mercenaries, working as a force to invade other countries. We'll work out anything that happens next."Maikumaru would then address the topic of the Juggernauts. "They aren't exactly puppets. They are operated like submarines. Maybe there could be a few that could be operated by the puppet technique later on. We have some former Sunagakure refugees who could maybe look into that."

He listened to Lamya speak of the whereabouts of the Ryujin." The numbers shouldn't be too much of a problem. The army is already big as is. Not downplay your importance or anything. With you and your forces, there will be no stopping us like I said." He spoke with a lot of enthusiasm. Things were really falling into his favor.

"I'm not completely stupid. I know OF you, being the world's most wanted criminals in the world. But I was pretty oblivious to the world around me. And I can get you whatever you want, as long as it’s within reason."

However he noticed another look from Lamya. He sensed a displeasure from her, a very angry intent.. She flicked her finger, and there was a sudden force of power around him. It made him slightly shake. He had a confused look on his face, the same as when Lamya attempted to threaten him. She gave a solemn warning. Maikumaru would eventually drop to a single knee. “What the….”

She would end her form of intimidation by referring to herself as a monster. This was probably the largest form of disrespect he has ever received since becoming Tsuchikage. His head was facing the ground, hiding his face from Lamya and from her subordinate. His eyes were bloodshot. His teeth were beard, and grit. His breathing increased. He was angry. He was full of rage. It all went by in seconds, reminding himself that this was for his village. This was for something bigger than himself. This time around he would have to swallow his pride. This isn’t about me. This isn’t about me. This isn’t about me. Maikumaru reminded himself that Lamya was too valuable of an asset to lose. He calmed himself down. After the last few milliseconds went by, he got up, looking perfectly normal. “Alright! Noted! Now that we got that out of the way, let me escort you two to the village. Like I said there are rooms in the Administration Building. Discuss things in my office.” He would walk at a fast pace towards the direction of the village. His rage barely subsided. It gave him too much energy.

Long after the meeting with Lamya, he had excused himself from the office and into the Valley of Mountains. At the peak of one of the many mountains stood Maikumaru. His eyes were once again bloodshot. The veins in his muscles were tensed, so much so that his veins could practically pulsate out of his skin. None more so than the veins that were on his fists, his clenched fist. His teeth were grit. The Tsuchikage raised one of his two most powerful weapons, and brought it down in the mountain below him, destroying the peak. He looked at his hands. While the palms were exposed, his fingers were still pointed towards them. He could barely keep them from returning inward, to create a fist. He raised his other set of hardened knuckles, and destroyed more of the mountain. The mountain had cupped inward from the impact of his strength.

It wasn’t working. No matter how much he pounded away at the innocent mountain, he couldn't shake off the feeling of anger. That woman...Lamya...made the Tsuchikage look like a fool. His mind became a legion of hateful and rampaging thoughts. She things she can make a fool of ME?! Make a fool of the Tsuchikage?! I swear to the Sage of Six Paths...I will make her pay for this! I will make her PAY!

He looked into the sky. HIs breathing was getting more intense. His large lungs made the air puff out of his lungs visible. He yelled into the mountains. He summoned the chakra in his body. Nearly all of it. He raised both of his arms, screaming to the heavens above. He looked down, and slammed his fists into the mountain. The force of the impact had caused the mountain to break, shattering into an unquantifiable amount of pieces. Among the smoke and dust and debris, The Tsuchikage stood. He was breathing easier. He had achieved it. Catharsis. He dropped to his knees. And then to his hands. His chest and back would grow with each deep and heavy breathed. His pupils returned to their normal sizes, and the red strains from his blood shot eyes subsided. He was almost dizzy with how much fury was inside of him. It was nearly intoxicating. A small bit of temper remained. Enough for him to say these words:

“I’ll show you what a REAL monster look like…”

Laïs was not sure how she had to take the answers of the Tsuchikage. The Ryujin, her, being reduced to mere footfolk. It felt disappointing to say the least, yet at the same time the foresight of running into the battle headfirst along expendable bandits also meant the Beast would be given free reign to thrash about. If in her berserker rage she killed off a couple of these men and women, there would be little for her to cry about as they served but as cannon fodder anyway. So for the time being, Laïs said nothing on the matter. If he wanted her to rampage around, that would be what she would do when the time came - wreck havoc. Unless Lamya had a different purpose for her, that was.

Things took a brief moment for the worst when Lamya expressed her discontent. Her aura expanded dramatically and an old familiar impression of fear washed over the surroundings. Laïs cramped up, closed her eyes, resting her hands on her face as if all of that would help to shelter herself against that nightmarish fear. The young woman was not the most courageous by nature when the Jugo's rage was subdued, and so she would feel herself completely paralysed in her actions and robbed of her reasoning and senses. An old nightmare all over again, it felt like falling into a deep pit without a bottom. Running through a forest under the dark sky without an end to the road and an invisible hunter chasing behind her. Only the two golden eyes remained. They always remained, wherever she went. By the time the auric pressure was lifted, Lais sat basically huddled on the floor. Heart pumping wildly, fear flowing through her instead of blood. She had no memory as to when she had moved to this position, her mind preferring to flee in the form of a black out rather than to hang around in terror. Beads of sweat pearled on her face, and it took her a few moments to come back to her senses - the Tsuchikage seemingly recovering much sooner than she did.

When she finally rose to her feet, she dusted of her clothes and sighed softly. Things such as these... There was little she could do against them other than endure them. It was shameful to crawl around like this, embarrassment of this sort seeping deep within the cheeks and flushing them red. But knowing she was not the only one who had some trouble standing tall in this situation somewhat made it easier to rationalise. Indeed, Lamya was a monster. Of that there was no doubt. In fact, being reminded of it, Laïs wondered if she had done well to revive the Serpent to a physical level; a sense of humanity defiantly springing up as if to make her see reason in her foolish endeavours. But the trauma was bigger than that, believing it'd be far worse not to do so. If the Serpent's wrath could be unleashed upon the living, it meant she could have a moment of respite as for a long time, the Serpent's soul sat trapped within Einherjar and thus connected to the occultist.

The conversation continued. Puppets. No, machines. They were like submarines? She had heard of those in the past but had never laid eyes on one. The Land of Demons tended to live its own life and being raised in a small village no one cared much about also meant she didn't have the most adventurous experiences in life. Still, it mattered not. She had understood what the machines did or were. She simply had hoped to check them out since she remembered having fought a puppet-user in the past. Those puppets were durable and rather tough to deal with; finding a solution as how to defeat them was something that piqued her interest. That interest simmered to a low once the Tsuchikage had stated they were not puppets, then rose again when he mentioned there were refugees of Sunagakure still within Iwagakure. Considering that it would not be all that hard to find them and see if she could pry loose information from them how to build them, how they functions and how to tear them to pieces.

Finally, the meeting settled, leaving Lamya and Lais to their own devices as the kage stormed out of his building. He was either a busy man if he didn't take the time to nap some or Lamya's trick had left... an impression. She'd sigh softly. A rocky start of an uncomfortable alliance. Then she yawned again. All of this power in a single day was making staying awake rather difficult.

"I think the kage's having some troubles with your introduction, Mistress. I, for one, am glad to see you returned. I am curious whereto you will lead us this time.", she said with barely opened eyes. "That said, perhaps it would not be bad to have some sleep and let it all sink in some. That ritual took quite a lot from me, in more ways than I had expected."

At those words, she bowed to Lamya and dragged herself off to take in one of the kage's quarters for herself where she'd flop on whatever remotely comfortable place to basically fall asleep right away. It'd be a troubling moment of sleep, as with the return of Lamya so too did the nightmarish imprint upon her very soul. A torment for the living, as it were. But could Laïs still be considered as such with the path she had laid bare for herself?

Showing nothing but a neutral face when the Tsuchikage regained his bearings, Lamya's true weakness revealed itself just as easily: her enormous arrogance and air of superiority, something which she had not lost even after dying and perhaps had in fact been intensified due to the revival high she was experiencing. Once again feeling one's own blood rush through their veins, being cut off from the wails and whims of the dark void that laid beyond mortality, it was not incomprehensible for people to get a bit...excited from that feeling.

Just as the Tsuchikage moved away though, she couldn't help herself but grin, the corners of her lips pulling slightly upwards and her eyes slightly squinting when she looked at the back of the man. "Such a feisty and hot tempered man...those usually don't live very long," She gave Laïs a rather meaningful look accompanying those words. She wasn't aiming to be the one to put the Tsuchikage into a coffin, yet had a slight suspicion that if he did not heed her words with the proper care, she might actually end up to be the one to grant him the dark slumber which had been granted to her so long ago. Shrugging her shoulders though, the black-haired and pale-skinned woman decided to simply follow the Jugo girl's lead and followed the youngster to the village, keen to see how this shinobi world had evolved after her unfortunate passing.
