The upheaval at the death of Hastur had thrown many things in the village into disarray. The tyrannical rule of Hastur ended swiftly after his death. The new Raikage made his move suspiciously quick, eliminating any would be rivals swiftly after the death of the so called God in Yellow. Such claims as an assassination would be a death sentence however, and furthermore the young woman had no proof to speak of; in fact the unfortunate truth is that it indeed seemed to be a result of some hidden illness. One of the positive aspects of the new leadership was the chance for Aikiko to be placed under a new sensei, hopefully one who could further her studies properly. Aikiko dressed in full mission attire to go see the new postings of squads, assuming she’d be chosen and that her sensei would be there to greet her. As usual she was being quite presumptuous but when has that ever stopped the ambitious young heiress. Aikiko donned her sword last and set out for the Raikage’s Office. Aikiko’s pace was not going to set any records, but she was a student of punctuality as much as she was one of the ninja arts and she was always sure to leave ample time to arrive where she planned on time. The day was temperate, neither warm nor cold and a light pleasant breeze caused Aikiko’s hair to dance a bit. This was surely an omen she was destined for fortune and success today. While crossing one of the many bridges in the Village Hidden in the Clouds Aikiko noticed that it was one of those peculiar days in this place where clouds were absent, the young Uchiha paused to take in the landscape beneath. To say the views from this mountain stronghold were breathtaking would almost be an understatement and even one so purposeful and serious couldn’t help but pause to appreciate the beauty. Yet another good omen Aikiko’s pace quickened slightly to make up for the lost time at the bridge.

Aikiko had arrived at the offices and proceeded to the bulletin, and quickly found herself matched with a sensei named Hozuki Sangetsu. She had never heard of this man and this was both disappointing and intriguing. Aikiko scarce had time to consider the possibilities when something caught her eye. Mizuki is back? Why am I not her student then? She only has one … why is it this Sasaki Kyousuke? Unfortunately for whoever it was the young Uchiha Chunin was not a reasonable girl. The raven haired teen felt her sharingan come to life against her will. Her sharingan only activated on its own when she was beside herself with fury. The first time her sharingan activated had been a result of a mixture of fear and rage. Aikiko had killed her fear when she left her “home” leaving only the rage that seemed to mar her family’s history. The greatest of her clan were always afflicted with some sort of unquenchable hatred. With their great power came great imbalance this much she knew. Aikiko hoped to one day learn more about her clan and its ancient traditions. The rage had filled her at this point and the Uchiha teen set off to find someone who knew this boy well enough to give her a description. The raven haired girl had no issues finding him once she had the proper description from a (mostly) willing informant.

The young lady was tearing across the village in search of him with her sharingan helping her focus on taking in everything she could see.  Reason had left the building by the time she spotted the first person who met the description she drew three shuriken between her fingers and flung them in an arc across the sky aimed for his upper back above the shoulder blade. If that didn’t get his attention her venomous words would definitely do the trick. Her insult rang in the air, her sharingan could see that the person addressed was a shinobi of some sort as normal people didn’t have chakra signatures like this. Aikiko stood at the ready for the inevitable consequence of her action with blade in hand.

Eyes closed, mind open. The boy took deep breaths, controlling each beat of his heart. Sat atop the edge of a cliff with legs crossed, he closed his mind to the coming storm that would erupt. The false god Hastur was now of the past, and the boy's efforts alongside his newfound teacher, Mizuki, earned him praise among those few silent who stood tall under the secret rebellion. Though he hadn't accomplished much in the grand scheme of things, the boy played his part, no matter how little. Convincing the Sasaki, whose roots lay deeply embedded with a code of fierce loyalty to serving Kumogakure and its people, to take up arms against the cloud’s very own raikage was a feat that awarded him the respects of many within the clan that now saw him as more than just the son of their leader. And while his own actions to help clear the streets of jashinists was for from grandiose, the boy personally deemed it enough to warrant him the rank of chunin, which meant that he expected a well deserved promotion in due time.

Though the future seemed bright, there lay still clouds of worry within the young heir’s mind. Since the ancient times of the hidden cloud’s birth, the Sasaki were servants not only to Kumogakure, but also to the entirety of Kaminari no Kuni… and its daimyo, to whom they served faithfully as guardians. That same daimyo, however, served as a puppet to the self proclaimed god in his time of rule, and now with the death of Hastur came the question of the fate of those that served him. Such things were far out of his control and were thus undeserving of his attention… The reactions of his clansmen however? That troubled him deeply. He would need to be the one to bring the news to his people, and he needed to do it soon.

Exhaling slowly, golden eyes peered open. There was much he needed to do, yet for now he breathed his worries away. Kumogakure’s dawn had indeed arrived, and there were many things he looked forward to in the days to follow. After the had dust settled and the new raikage took his place, the village slowly returned to how he once envisioned it in his childhood. Shinobi, bundled in groups of three flocked the streets, along with their newly appointed teachers. Today was the day that the genin was set to be assigned a teacher and a group of others that he would call as teammates, however, he already had a person in mind that he wished to learn under. Raiu Mizuki, a shinobi that had gained his respect and admiration in their short time of knowing each other. And though he had indeed acted as her apprentice during the rebellion, a part of him wondered whether that would remain the case.

He looked down to the city below, still stuck in his meditative stance. The view was truly awe-inspiring and at times he wondered why he'd always stole his eyes away to meditate. For now, though it was time to return to the village. The boy had delayed knowing the answer to his question long enough, and now the inevitable awaited. He rose from his seat, returning the pair of twins that sat on his lap, back to be strapped at each side of his waist. Once more he looked down below, at the verge of dropping down. Suddenly though, he felt the needle like sting of three projectiles sticking to his back like darts.

Though their cutting edge had been entirely fended off by his armor-lined clothing, the boy felt each of the shuriken clearly as if sharp rocks had been cast his way, with the force of the projectiles’ momentum almost completely pushing him over the edge of the cliff. A step regained him of his balance, however, and he the two blades hissed as they were separated from each of their wooden scabbards. Words of his assailant rang through his ears, seeking to bring him to anger. They worked. Slowly he pivoted, looking to the girl with golden fury dead in her red eyes. An aura of lightning engulfed the young swordsman, as he pointed Shusui’s edge to the girl.

“Raiton: Shunpo.”

A roar of thunder followed the young swordsman’s silent words and within half of a second the distance between the two had vanished. Shusui immediately moved to deflect the girl's single sword, taking advantage of the sudden move to clear an opening. Kitetsu shot forth, using the boy's momentum to thrust deep into the girl's throat.

Aikiko's insult was effective, perhaps too effective. He was much taller than her and looked to be stronger too. His eyes said that his fury matched the Uchiha's own. When he crouched he began to gather Raiton aligned chakra before uttering the presumed name of the technique he'd formed he burst towards her with two swords in hand. Aikiko was surprised by his sudden burst of speed and he was able to knock her sword aside with ease before aiming a thrust for her throat. Aikiko leaped backwards just in time to avoid death but not in time for the blade to miss her chest sinking painfully in and stopping at her rib. Aikiko grit her teeth she couldn't afford to get caught off guard like that again. Aikiko made a half bird hand seal and a wave of chakra emanated from her, the chakra would catch the young man in a genjutsu that would fool him into the thinking the wind had picked up to a gale deafening and buffeting him. Aikiko held her blade before her, hoping to get a better understanding of his skill before attempting a strike. The raven haired Uchiha couldn't afford Kyousuke deflecting one of her attacks with his strength and size she'd be easily overwhelmed. Knowing he was capable of great speed Aikiko would be prepared to defend in the event of a repeat.

Aikiko's sharingan would surely assist in her fight, she didn't want to kill Kyousuke just humiliate and hurt him. Even if he aimed to kill her she would have to rise above such base impulses and strive to take his pride rather than his life. Aikiko had promised herself to never lose again after the exams feeling ashamed that she had underestimated an opponent so severely as to allow herself to be beaten by some rabble who hadn't even deserved a place across from her let alone a victory of her. This Sasaki Kyousuke was no different except this time Aikiko wouldn't fail herself or her clan's honor. The blood on her chest was warm and runny dripping down her chest. Aikiko awaited Kyousuke's next attack which she would aim to parry and establish eye contact with him in order to infect him under yet another layer of genjutsu. Should the eye contact be established Kyousuke would begin to feel warm making it hard for him to mold chakra for a repeated burst of speed. If all went according to plan Aikiko would be able to wear her opponent down and confuse him using her illusions before landing a blow that would render him unable to continue. Whether that blow would come from blade or body meant little as long as it came in its time. Aikiko's rage had not lessened at all by this point instead it was compounded by his feeble attempt at slaying his better. Yet another reason Aikiko must succeed in teaching him a lesson. By not killing him she discounted his skill and threat as an opponent. It was the greatest insult she could give.

Blade digging into flesh, a faint smirk crept on the corner of his lips. Though the girl had managed to react quickly, backing away just in time to avoid a fatal wound, the act of drawing first blood was more than enough to satisfy the young swordsman and quell his anger… for now at least. His confidence getting the better of him, the boy’s arms stayed as they were in there thrusting pose, blatantly gloating by not immediately returning to a fighting stance. With a more than comfortable distance in between him and the unknown opponent, he slowly withdrew to a relaxed posture, leaning all his weight in on his hind leg and lowering his twin katanas to point at the floor. His eyes looked to the girl, though this time with a more controlled and curious gaze. “Who are you?” He spoke, chin raised and chest puffed out. In response, his opponent gestured a hand seal, in what looked to be an attempt to catch him off guard. Reacting, he lowered his stance, ready to pounce away with another dash of lightning had a projectile been shot his way. Unexpectedly, a violent stream of wind began to encircle the unexpecting heir, deafening him to all but the sounds of howling winds. “Rude.” He quipped, once more raising Shusui to point at his opponent. Her lack of a response, though disappointing to his curiosity, simply meant that he had to beat it out of her.

He threw Kitetsu into the air, flipping the sword a meter upwards, confident that its metal would be heavy enough to keep it in place despite the winds. Free of the katana’s handle, his right hand strung together the half versions of the dog, boar, and ram hand seals. Five clones rose from nothingness, summoned far at the boy’s front. Though it would be obvious to the girl that they were nothing more but mere conjured images with no physical properties, it mattered not. Blocking his opponent’s vision of the real Kyousuke, the imitations rushed forward to the girl, though they would stop once they had reached the halfway point between the two. With not a moment’s delay, the boy reached for his back pocket, taking a pair of shurikens and throwing them to curve far right of the wall of clones. Just in the nick of time, he gripped Kitetsu’s hilt as it returned to his hand and lowered himself to begin summoning a more concentrated stream of raiton at his feet. His left sword arm moved to tuck under his armpit, whilst the right rested atop his shoulder. The boy waited, eyes looking to the two moving objects.

Though at first appearing far off target, the two projectiles would clash into each other mid-air and send both into the opposite direction, one being directly launched towards the girl had she remained frozen in the position he had last seen her. Instantly as his vision of the lone shuriken disappeared into the wall of clones, indicating that they had come into her contact, he made his move.

He launched himself forward with a burst, though this time there were no theatrics nor thundering boom to announce his action. Hoping to have momentarily distracted her with the projectile, if just for a brief moment, the boy appeared once more at her front. Shusui, tucked under his armpit, cut diagonally to clear the opponent’s blade whilst Kitetsu, above his right shoulder, weaved downwards to cut through the girl’s legs. For a moment the pupils of the two shinobi would meet, Kyousuke making sure to look her in the eye as he cut her down to size. With both aiming to parry each other and clashing, Shusui was sent back to Kyousuke’s right shoulder. Now, with both sword arms crossed, he moved in for a scissoring cut aimed for the opponent’s abdomen.

Aikiko didn't care to respond to her opponent, he wouldn't hear her anyways. His elevated volume when speaking made it clear he was under her illusion. He'd not hear anything until she was done with him. He had the audacity to call her rude after trying to kill her and yet again point his sword at her, Aikiko took a few more steps back giving her ample space in case he tried to rush at her using that raiton jutsu again this time she'd be ready for his sword to try to knock hers away and brought her sword low so she could bring it up to parry using his height against him. His theatrics might work against lesser enemies but Aikiko would not be fooled by simple misdirection. The Uchiha tracked his hand seals and could tell that the clones he sent charging at her were nothing more than illusions. Aikiko grabbed at her back for one of the large shuriken she held there, and threw it full force through the clones before her, slicing through them and dissipating them. Aikiko activated one of her more deceptive jutsu, that shifted the position of an object. The shuriken had been the target of her illusion, the blade would reach Kyousuke much earlier than it would appear it should, the image of the deadly projectiled lagged three meters behind the true shuriken.  As the shuriken left her hand she heard the telltale sound of metal striking metal and looked to her left to see a shuriken heading right for which she easily avoided with a quick leap back. Aikiko didn't plan to use her sword for much more than defense having resigned to the fact that Kyousuke was far better of a swordsman than she was. Luckily for Aikiko, she didn't consider her swordplay to be her best discipline and didn't feel completely at a loss. Her deception should serve her well, allowing her to bring the humiliation she hoped to inflict.

Kyousuke had come bursting forward straight for her shuriken and it struck him square in the chest combined with the speed he was moving towards the blade he was knocked on his ass immediately. Aikiko wasted no time to set upon. Aikiko's temper was still burning wildly, having been enhanced by the attempt on her life she couldn't help but to start kicking his ribs as he lay on the ground. After she gave him a few swift kicks, she coated her sword with a sheath of wind and held it to his neck. Aikiko brought her left foot onto his chest and laid her weight onto it pressing on the surely cracked bones she finally made her chilling introduction, “My name is Uchiha Aikiko. Yield.” Aikiko's red eyes showed nothing but contempt as she gazed into his eyes waiting for an excuse to drive the sword into him in response to a foolish reaction. Aikiko would not hesitate to kill her enemy but to not give him a chance to surrender with his honor and life still intact would be beneath her making her no better than him.

Lightning served as fuel, propelling him forwards in speeds that would render him naked to the eyes of the average man. Though the faster he accelerated, the greater his vulnerability grew to counter attacks. As a swordsman, he had always used his overwhelming speed as a way to strike first and end confrontations in the mere instant that they had started, but now he would learn what would happen if his cuts were to fail him the first time. He was far too predictable, and the girl had realized just how simple his tactics were. No matter what, he would always seek to close the gap. Vision tunnelled by the burst of speed that his own chakra awarded him, a large projectile came crashing to the entirety of his chest, blade digging into his skin and course set askew. In a mere second, he was sent tumbling back from his stance, head whiplashing to the hard ground. His momentum now worked against him, driving him forwards to scrape along the mountain’s craggy exterior until his speed eventually decreased and halted. He stopped just a few steps away from his target, a large shuriken attached to his sternum, and completely out of commission.

For a moment he would hear nothing but the unending ringing in his ears, vision fading in and out of consciousness. He felt all energy sapped from his body, feeling numb in all areas save for the intense pain pulsating throughout his head. He took desperate breaths to make up for the oxygen that his body now craved, yet the cracked bones in his chest made it increasingly painful to do so. Staying completely motionless until he would catch his breath, eventually all senses would return to him, albeit completely messed up. He felt the blood pour on his lips as he reached to his chest, clutching the piece of weaponry pierced into his skin and pulling it out of his body. Though his armor had done its work and cushioned the cutting edge to the point that it hadn't cut to his bone, it was the momentum of another object colliding with his chest that had resulted in his current state, sternum cracked. He tossed the shuriken aside with what little strength he had left and rolled to his belly. Slowly, he urged himself to his knees and elbow, aiming to get back up until a set of swift and sudden kicks to his ribs sent him stammering to his back.

He crashed once more, coughing blood as he did. Immediately, he felt the familiar feeling of a sharp sword to his neck. A stream of wind wrapped the blade, likely increasing the sword’s ability to cut. A foot stepped over the already damaged bones in his chest, instinctively causing him to rise from his lying position only to be returned by the weight of the girl. He flinched in pain, eyes looking scornfully to the one that stood over. The girl's lips began to move, though her words would fall on literal deaf ears. He heard none of her words, and the fuzzy double vision that his eyes gave him failed to read her lips. More than anything, he wondered who she was. An assassin sent by jashinists for revenge? The blade’s tip told him that he would not likely live to have his questions answered. He had failed in a stupidly comical fashion, and now he would suffer the consequences of defeat. He gripped the blade with his right hand, immediately cutting into his flesh and summoning a pool of blood. The strong willed Sasaki mustered the last of his strength, moving the sword just a shy away from his neck that it would no longer threaten his life immediately had he spoken. Looking to the side, he spit the blood in his mouth to clear his lips. Death was not something he was scared of, and at what he would perceive as the last moments of his life all he could do was to make sure his final words were not one of cowardice. “I can do this all day.” He said, speaking loudly to make sure she could hear him over the howling winds.

Aikiko's shuriken had already broken a rib or two before she'd decided to lay into him with her strikes. The chakra added to her blows broke a few more of his ribs, her foot pressed on his chest to keep him from rising and to force him to endure excruciating pain. A small price to pay for an attempt on the heiress's life she reasoned. When he yelled, taunting her to bring more pain she gritted her teeth and stepped off of him. “Why are you yelling?” Aikiko said feigning annoyance and ignorance at the screaming winds he was surely still hearing up to this point. Aikiko was about to kick him in the ribs again but instead paused. Much of the fury had been released with the strikes that put him fully out of position. Sheathing her sword, Aikiko knelt beside Kyousuke and put her hand firmly on his chest beside the massive shuriken sticking out of it. Aikiko had begun to accept that this Kyousuke was nothing more than an unlucky genin who had done nothing particularly wrong. Firmly holding Kyousuke in place on the ground Aikiko pulled the shuriken out of him gently and used what little she learned from her training as a medical ninja in Iwagakure. Aikiko had found she had much better skill inflicting damage than healing it. Despite this relative lack of skill Aikiko got the bleeding to stop. Aikiko had to know if there was some hidden potential in this swordsman ninja. Aikiko still held contempt for the boy but her curiosity was certainly rising, there so many questions about him to be answered. Was there more to this tall handsome lad than met her very discerning eye. Sure, she could have killed him and been done with the matter but there was no honor in killing your fellow. A strong sword arm could come in handy to her in the future. Aikiko would need allies in this place if she hoped to establish her clan to its rightful place in the village. Aikiko would build her own branch of the Uchiha Clan, with emphasis on tradition and strength she hoped to propel her name to heights not seen in centuries. To do so she would need the help of other powerful clans in the Cloud Village. The Raiu were an obvious choice as was the Hozuki house her sensei was a part of. Both names having been established in the village for a long time.

“My name is Uchiha Aikiko. I've stopped you from dying but that's all I can do for you with my limited knowledge of healing. I chose a different path in life than the one the Village Hidden in the Stones had decided for me.” Aikiko's eyes  to their normal dark grey as she rose and offered her hand to the tall black haired boy crumpled at her feet to help him to rising position. It was wrong of Aikiko to attack him she realized this in her subsided rage, she was not sorry for finishing the fight so brutally though. Kyousuke's attempt on her life left her no choice but to ensure his threat was totally diminished before moving on. Aikiko was a ruthless kunoichi who had trained since she could stand. Kyousuke must have trained similarly with his swordsmanship if it wasn't for her reflexes and her genjutsu she'd surely have lied slain, gutted by his twin swords in her stomach. Aikiko's intelligence and experience won out in the end. She had thought the shuriken to land but him rushing into it at full speed again was truly his downfall. Rushing headlong into battle was only effective for far more skilled shinobi. It seemed that Aikiko's mastery of wind would come in handy should the boy seek revenge on her when he was fully healed. “Tell me Kyousuke, where does your family stand in the society of Cloud Village? You are more skilled than a mere peasant  boy playing at being a ninja. You've trained with swords since you could hold them much like I have been making illusions since I could mold chakra. I'd forgotten I had deafened you. Tell me Kyousuke, is it just you or did it get really warm out here?” Aikiko caused her to give the hint of a smile. One she noticed and immediately returned to her more standard contemptuous, clenched jawed, neutral expression. Not wanting to put off an air of friendliness Aikiko figured she had to reestablish herself, “It's nice to know my art is superior to yours, not surprising, none can compare to the Uchiha. Our fight was decided before it began. I pray you will answer me one question though, why did Mizuki-sama choose you over me?” Aikiko despite having calmed down still could not get that question out of her mind, why had she been passed over by one of the only people who she actually knew here. Deep down the raven haired teen knew that she was only angry because her feelings were hurt and instead of crying and moving on like a normal person she decided to find and hurt an innocent victim of her own damaged ego. Apology was out of the question however, in Aikiko's opinion the pair were even.

With his final words of defiance said, he was content. The girl looked at him, still wrought with anger. Her lips began to move, though again her words would be lost to the wind. Eyes closed, the boy prepared himself for what was to come next. He waited, mind peaceful of the actions that had led him to this point in his life. Seconds passed and then minutes. He grew impatient awaiting his own death, Suddenly the violent winds that once deafened his ears died down. Slowly his eyes peered open, confused why the girl had taken so long to finish what she had started. She retracted her blade from his neck, returning the sword to its scabbard and prompting the boy to give her a skeptical gaze. Kneeling down beside him, the boy immediately sought to get up, hoping to take advantage of her vulnerable position. The sudden pain weighed down on his chest gave a pulsating reminder that he would not be able to rise. He stopped, instead resting all of his weight on his elbow to at least get a view of her actions. To his surprise, he would feel the cold touch of her soft hand on his chest, urging him to lay himself back down on the ground. For a moment he resisted, grabbing her wrist. He said nothing, only looking her eyes with golden pupils that sought to guess her next actions. A part of him wanted to run a bolt of raiton chakra throughout her body, yet another part was content to see what she would do next.

He gave in, allowing her to take over as he rested his back on the ground. Her other had reached for the large shuriken on his chest, gently pulling it out so as not to create more cuts within his skin. Afterwards, he felt a surge of chakra running down his chest. Medical ninjutsu, and while it was nothing but a beginner's attempt at healing, she had managed to stop the bleeding in his chest successfully. Realizing her now sudden good intentions, he let go of the firm grip he held on her arm and slowly attempted to get back on his feet after her healing had been finished. Uninjured, save for the faint trickle of blood running down her chest, the girl rose first, now offering a hand of support to the downed Kyousuke. Eyes reverting from red to dark brown, she introduced herself as Aikiko Uchiha of the Village Hidden in the Stones. The heir’s hand reached for hers, accepting the help she offered and pulling himself up to now tower over her height.

Before he could give her the same courtesy and introduce himself, Aikiko began to ask about his clan’s status within the village, already using his first name. She made an attempt to praise his skill as a swordsman and gave hints to the illusions she had put him under. She even smiled, though faintly and immediately hiding the fact with a sudden change in expression and more pride filled words meant to entice him. He let out a short snicker, amused by the clear attempt to hide her smile and almost friendly attitude. It was cute. Eventually though she asked about Raiu Mizuki, specifically why she had chosen Kyousuke to be her student instead of her. “Is that what this is all about?” He asked, shaking his head in disbelief. “You should have asked me that from the start... I could have killed you, Aikiko.” The boy settled down, sighing. “What's done is done, I suppose. I don't know what your relationship is with Mizuki-San, but it might be best to ask her yourself.” Suddenly he lowered his head, bowing to her now that it was clear she wasn't an enemy. “Though it seems you already know who I am, it would be disrespectful not to introduce myself.” His head rose from his bow, eyes now meeting hers. “I am Sasaki Kyousuke, heir to the Sasaki clan. To answer your question, my family are Kumogakure’s faithful guardians, servants that have guarded this village and country since its birth. I aim to do the same.” His eyes wandered to the sky, watching the sun's position to guess at the time, though his pupils returned to the Uchiha. He was content to continue speaking if she had any more questions, and in return he wanted to know more about her.
