Kanamora

Kanamora

Kanamora missed the application deadline for the Chunin Exams, not that she really needed such a shortcut anyways, due to her duties to the Raikage and to her village. There had been a lot of turmoil there in the recent days, with many of the ninja there missing in action, absconding from their duties or just doing the bare minimum to get by Kanamora found herself overwhelmed with work, as even the genin felt the labor trickle down. A few genin did slip in in time to join the exams including one of her own, but as she was not one of them she was simply here to support her comrades.  A simple gesture, but hopefully one that would inspire them to do there 100% absolute best. Kumogakure needed to win the Chunin exams because anything less than a win would fictitiously give the image that the other villages somehow compared to the Hidden Cloud, and that was a misconception that needed to be quickly stifled.

In an effort to show the Konoha genin, and all of the ninja that may be visiting the area for that matter, that the relatively few participants in the exams from Kumo was not because Kumo was weak, but more because these exams were beneath their radar. Kumo had more important priorities to attend to. Lord Miyamoto would see to it that no one would question the Hidden Clouds power, naturally. For now though Kanamora was going to do her part. She arrived at this particular sparring ground late at night, her surrounds brightly lit by stadium lights. Inside of the actual arena it was indistinguishable from daytime as the flood lights smothered the late nights darkness.

Kanamora arriving just in time for her match walked calmly to the marked space in the field. Red sand filled the diamond shaped stadium with a single white line framing the in bounds area of the arena. The arena was 50 m on each edge which seemed rather excessive for  this particular battle. That being said though Kanamora was more or less a close range specialist, so it was difficult for her to distinguish between what was essential, and what she believed was over kill. She slowly and lazily made her way into one of the two half meter radius white circles in the middle of the arena which was a total of ten meters away from her opponents circle.

She paid no mind to her opponent as she stepped forward adjusting herself accordingly. She'd unsheathe metal sand shaped like Sekigahara, a basic D-Rank katana, balancing it in front of her by resting her hands upon it. She'd stare coldly at her opponent. "If you can make me take even a single step backwards. The match is yours. Lord Hastur has no time for anyone who can't do at least that against a genin." Kanamora would appear as if she weren't in a stance prepared to react, and that was no mere facade. Regardless of her opponent she truly believed she'd be unable to make her take a single step backwards. She'd form the seal of conflict and wait for him to take the initiative, steadying her chakra below average chakra reserves and saving her energy for the late game.

Yasubei

Yasubei had just finished repairs on Ogre since the last time he'd appeared in the l public light, and honestly he'd been reclusive since then. He arrived to the stadium in his main body, unwilling to risk any damage to any of his other puppets or any of the items he planned to use in the chunin exams he simply came with his own body and a little gift he'd received from the last time he'd shown his face as a shinobi. The stadiums were all visible for miles and audible for at least half of that distance. Yasubei needed to collect as much information about his future opponents as possible while revealing as little as he could about himself. He doubted there would be any other genin from the last exam as a lot of time had passed since then. To Yasu that seemed the only detriment to his brand of immortality, an inability for growth or decay. The weapon he was would never become any sharper or grow any duller. That's all there was to it.

As Yasubei drew closer and closer to the stadium he was to enter the dim murmur that was once identifiable as a crowd became a roar of passion that washed over the area. Yasubei began to quicken his pace making his way to the stadium with his pet slithering along behind him. This was one of his proudest creations that he'd come up with in the course of the last couple of months. the hulking creature utterly dwarfed him, and it left nothing to the imagination about how Yasubei planned to win all of his fights in the exams. The message was simple absolute and incontestable brute force. He made his way into the stadium simultaneously with the other genin noticing the headband on her head, a Kumo-nin was a rather rare sight since the rise of their newest kage. He'd heard rumors that they'd become different in the last year or so.

Inside of the arena he'd be met with muffled sounds fighting their way through the barriers erected by the proctor-nin to protect any onlookers from stray jutsu, but more importantly to protect any interference from outside. Yasubei knew not how powerful the barriers were, but once the curtain closed behind him, he and his pet would slowly make their way to the prescribed circle. As he cross the threshold the albino, giant before him spoke out. Her voice only intelligible because the noise from outside was significantly reduced by the barrier surrounding them. "If you can make me take even a single step backwards. The match is yours. Lord Hastur has no time for anyone who can't do at least that against a genin." He'd stand in it and hold up the seal of conflict his pet just behind him lifting its head off of the ground hovering it a meter above Yasubei. The confidence of his opponent was a good sign of the fight to come, either because he'd be matched up against someone who could challenge and push him or because he'd be up against someone who would be a breeze to beat.

"Jormungandr, get her." The beast would sway slightly as what could easily be construed as a smile crept onto its face. The huge creature sped forward towards its query which was but mere meters away accelerating to roughly 9 meters per second quickly reaching that speed and taking just over a second and a half to close the distance. the massive snake still next to its master, would close the distance quickly as Yasubei would place his hand on the snakes hide, its scales coarsely rubbing against his own skin, ready to reinforce it as necessary. The snake would strike out against its quarry, it would have probably have been faster than Kanamora was capable of reacting to if not for the distance the frilled reptile had to cover. Regardless It would chase down the Kumo-nin viciously if she tried to evade, its wide open jaws biting down on her once it was within range. The dulled fangs wouldn't do as much damage as they looked like they would, but the snake would clamp down intensely causing bruising across her torso if he landed a blow.

Kanamora's opponent drew himself into the stadium nigh silently as the cacophony from behind him muted his steps until the barrier that'd been split so he could enter closed behind him. Slithering behind him was a massive snake that easily dwarfed the smaller of the two ninja, though Kanamora stood maybe a head taller than it did. The other genin seemed to take her insulting words in stride, not even flinching at the bait as he slowly and deliberately made his way into the circle across from her, not dissimilar from how she herself had done so just moments before. Above him the massive serpent swayed like a charmed snake ready to obey its master's every whim. With but an utterance of his voice the massive body moved forward to its target, Kanamora the self-proclaimed Suru clan head.

The snake arrived at Kanamora in mere moments its large, powerful jaws threatening to devour all of Kanamora whole. As the jaws aimed to devour her encircled her, all of its movement was stopped. A bystander from the crowd stood in his seat unable to accurately perceive why the creature had stopped in place. Had it secured its prey, was this fight over just as it began. The horrid angle he sat at caused him to become enshrouded in anticipation. The match hadn't been called so she must have still been alive at least. The Kumo genin took a single step forward revealing herself to the waiting bystander. Her steps continued as she moved forward feeling no fear from the creature that bit at her. No matter how many times it attempted it the results would be the same.

The snake after closing in on a still and unmoving kanamora didn't need to follow her as she dodged or retreated from it as she met it head on like any Kumo-nin would. Its gargantuan maw spread wide a meter on either side of Kana who fearlessly stared down the assailant. The jaws simply wouldn't close around her because as the snake attempted to close its mouth, a few small shields made of particulate matter in the air would form at each of the ninja's pet's teeth both negating the damage and preventing the critters teeth from clamping down. The small metal disks were just large enough to do their job glistening in the light with some of the magnetic sand that now floated in the air around Kanamora as she slowly took slow steps towards Yasubei approaching at a walking pace. She seemed to pay almost no attention to the giant snake, as her defenses were basically perfect against regular attacks, the kind made by most animals, apparently including this snake.
