Round Two: Ting vs. Yuki Yoshito 8PoLbXm

A seemingly normal tiled stage, entered by combatants on each side. Walled in on all sides, this venue would appear at first glance to be completely untampered with. After 2 posts pass, or any contestant uses an earth-altering technique or attack, the earth beneath the arena will rumble - the very infrastructure is unstable! At the beginning of this change - on the post after it is triggered - the center 5m of tiles will drop into a pit far below the original floor. On the second round (after both combatants have posted), the gap will advance another 10m; on the third round the chasm will increase in width by a 15m radius. By the end of the fourth round, the entire fighting area of the stadium will be nothing but a pit, and contestants will be forced to use the Supernatural Walking Practice to avoid a fall.

POSTING ORDER
1 - Ting
2 - Yoshito

24 HOUR POST TIMER BEGINS FOR TING 24 HOURS AFTER THIS POST

The oddity that was her first competitive match of the chunin exams left Ting uncertain of what to expect going forward. She had no indication of what was to come as she entered a large arena, which appeared typical of the chunin exams. It was composed of a tiled floor that let out a hollow echo with each step she took within her sandals. The same outfit she had worn against Kashiki would embrace her this day. A jacket of forest green bearing the symbol of the Hidden Leaf, a black body suit clinging tightly to her skin, her headband bound against her forehead. A sharp glint of the steel spikes of her knuckles reflecting against the sun. Her arms and legs were wrapped in combat tape to lessen the effects on her own body so often incurred by martial artists.  In short, the young warrior of Konoha stepped onto that battlefield prepared for battle. There was simply too much to lose here upon this stage.

There was no real delay between the entrance of Ting and her preparation for combat. Standing only five meters forward from the point in which she had entered the arena, Ting would pull off her jacket and flow chakra into it, pulling one of its draw strings through the loop in her kunai and tossing it with great force against the wall just behind her. Her body would grow invigorated by the sensation of chakra speeding up the division of her cells, preparing for damage before it had a chance to occur via the Wound Erasure technique. Muscle tissue would envelope her legs as she began a dialogue, clearly not looking to waste any time getting started.

I am Ting of Konohagakure, may I have your name before we begin?” She would call from quite the distance away, not looking to close the gap without some idea of what she was dealing with. Her voice would reach her opponent wherever it was that he stood, her position still five meters directly forward from the doors she had entered into the arena from, opposite her opponent’s entry point. Her stance was not one of someone at rest, balancing on the balls of her feet for any needed movement burst that might be necessary. There was never a guarantee that her adversary would have any desire to engage in pleasantries.

The boy walked toward the stadium, the outside looked familiar as it should, being the same type of stadium that held his last bout against Makoto for the Round One of the Chunin Exams. Yoshito stopped for a moment to admire the beauty this time, whistling as his body bent backward slightly to be able to look up to the top. “That sure is something.” Speaking to the effect of the largeness of the stadium. Upon entrance there was some hustle and bustle of the people crowded around waiting for the fight to begin, he wasn’t new to this due to his last fight but he was approached by a man who asked if his name was Yoshito Yuki and to follow him. The man led him into a corridor that resembled the one from before. The dark hall almost had the visual sense of Yoshito numbed due to the absence of light within the hall. He could hear the steps above him as people rushed to their seats, they knew the fight would soon begin and they wanted to be prepared so they wouldn’t miss anything. The steps could almost vibrate the hall Yoshi stood in, he was a little nervous. His fight from before was rougher than what he had faced in Kirigakure, a really defensive ninjutsu user who wasn’t afraid to turtle his way to victory. Somehow, Yoshi had seen a way past it and claimed victory for his village when all was said and done.

The man who led Yoshito into the corridor would turn to Yoshi and ask him if he was ready, to which the boy would quickly nod and the doors slid open by no physical means almost as if it was electronically controlled. Konoha and their technology was something that was a little foreign to the young Yuki Clansman. As the doors slid open the stadium revealed to be a much different setting than before. This stadium seemed to be a normal gladiator type stadium with solid ground rather than the swampy earth he once stood upon. Yoshito was careful, he slowly tapped the ground with the tips of his toes to check if there was anything different about the ground he was standing and nothing, it wouldn’t bring upon any immediate thoughts of foul play like the swamp. He sighed letting out some stress that clouded his head around the idea that his next area would be crazier than the swamp. Yoshito, now fully onto the stadium, would stand erect with one hand extended upward to the crowd and his opponent if they were close enough to see, he was still only a few steps from his entrance. The crowd did not make a sound, weird, last arena the crowd was going crazy when the two made their appearance. The boy made notes of his items making sure he had everything he was given for the exams, three kunai, five shuriken and he could feel the kusarigama sheathed onto his back. Each handle in their own holder on his shoulder blades with the sharp edges facing outwards resembling angel wings if one thought of it that way.

All set.

Nodding, Yoshito would start walking to the other end of the stadium. He wouldn’t make it very far, slightly over twenty meters from his side of the entrance when he could suddenly hear his opponent calling out stating her name. Yoshito would reach for his kusarigama’s handles and take them out, the chain flowing in front of him with each handle in each hand. He wasn’t in a battle stance just yet but he was always ready and had to be for this kind of thing, he wasn’t in the Mist Village anymore he was in a foreign country and was made to entertain travelers and people who lived here alike. “I’m Yoshito but you can call me Yoshi.” The boy marked his kusarigama for his substitution technique as he did when battling Makoto, it worked before hopefully it would bring success in the upcoming round. Yoshito began making more advancements until he was forty meters from his side of the entrance making a total of sixty meters from his opponent’s entrance. He could see the girl more clearly now but not enough to make out anything distinguishable just yet. He wasn’t a bird he couldn’t see that far but he was prepared for her to make the first move.

May favor smile upon you, Yoshi.” Ting would say from a place of sencerity as she stepped forth toward the center of the arena, not yet making use of any of her techniques. Unless the young man chose to act upon her before she could walk with her unassuming gait toward him, she would aim to make her way to a point opposite him, around forty meters from her entry point. By the time she neared the point she thought most acceptable to begin the bout, the ground below would rumble something fierce. Crackling and clanging would ring out through the arena as the center of the floor broke loose and sent tiles tumbling downward to an unseen depth. A newly formed pit now set a new tone for this battle. Standing around 10 meters from the point which tumbled away, Ting would recoil backwards in fear, not having expected such a thing. This had to be the work of some Doton technique. She had never dealt with someone utilizing a set of kusarigama, her last opponent had never even drawn his blade against her.  The only reassurance was the fact that she had dealt with a dangerous sparring grounds like this one before, having tussled with another Yoshi on the hokage monument.

The uncertain nature of the terrain made things even more pressing, and now that she had said what she felt necessary toward her adversary, Ting would waste no more time. At this point in her mind, it was Yoshi who had caused the ground to give way, which angered her as she had been courteous and honorable toward him. Separated by a five meter pit, the two stood fifteen meters on either side of it. Ting would remain the same distance from crumbling pit, dashing with the full force of the agility technique in a semicircle. She would arrive at a point only about ten meters away from Yoshi as she stretched forth her arms, sending her hands in a wide arc toward him at fifteen meters per second. This was the trebuchet technique, and without a reaction that took place in under a second, the Kiri Nin would find himself with a pair of long, stretched arms foiled around him like twin snakes, his arms pinned to his sides. Should this have success, Ting would reactively whip the young man at twenty meters per second into the inside wall of the pit in an effort to fracture his bones wherever he made contact. She would aim to throw him at an angle within the pit so that he struck the inside wall around twenty meters down, making this a difficult escape to pull off if the maneuver went flawlessly up to that point.

RUMBLE. RUMBLE. RUMBLE.

The ground shook unimaginably, the stadium roared as if there were demons underneath the earth about to reach up and grab anyone within the five meter circle that appeared before Yoshi and Ting’s current location. It was a sight to behold and the crowd thought so too as they roared almost as loud as the ground shook. Yoshi clenched his kusarigama tightly bracing for whatever his opponent had in store next, in his mind it was Ting that had caused this earthen event or it could possibly be a trick stadium. Given that the last arena was nothing but a swamp it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to think that the ones who ruled this event had tricks up their sleeves for each stadium that contestants would make their way to. After mere seconds he could hear the tiles dropping onto the ground beneath the two, clearly there was a bottom but he wouldn’t know how far unless he were to utilize his ability to sense it via jutsu. That wouldn’t be done, however, as how deep the hole is wouldn’t be important at this time.

The crowd’s yelling ceased as Ting made movements probably faster than most could perceive from where they were standing or sitting respectively. Suddenly Yoshi’s body was covered in an aura matched only by the Ice Age felt by only chakra sensing until he moved. As she moved in her arc movement Yoshito threw his kusarigama at her end location hoping to either stop her or force the girl to defend against the weaponry launched at her. The boy wove two hand signs and visibly nothing would change about his body. Yoshi ran forward at Ting mirroring her movement in the arc around the pit moving slightly quicker than she had a mere second ago if not a split second. Behind him would appear as a cyan colored trail, small snowflakes would be lifting into the air due to the sheer chilling nature of the ice allowing his movements to be boosted, the boy’s technique finally showing its physical appearance. Yoshi’s shoulders would emit blade-like wind funnels outward as he ran toward Ting. The boy would reach Ting’s location in less than a second, the front of his body would bring forth two bursting wind blades one from his chest and another from his shins stretching two meters long from the boy.

The slide would bring Yoshi underneath if not a little bit past her previous ten meters from Yoshito due to when he dropped into his slide and his momentum from his previous jutsu. Before his body stopped it’s movements the very ground beneath him would begin to freeze in a circle around him in a four meter radius thus stopping any sudden movements toward him in their tracks. Yoshi stood up after this was done making note of the pit that was six meters from his new location on Ting’s side.

RUMBLE. RUMBLE. RUMBLE.

The floor began to rumble once more letting the contestants know that the floor would drop very soon yet again. Just how far open would the pit be when all was said and done?

The arena never ceased to rumble and give way, it seemed inevitable that the two warriors would find themselves at the bottom of a black pit by the end of the rounds. The pit expanded in size, drawing out to a point only 5 meters from Ting’s path along the perimeter of the pit. It was time to act quickly. Along her path, the young man would throw out his kusarigama as the first in a set of countermeasures to Ting’s actions. She would continue for it at full momentum, allowing it to slice into the top of her arm so that she could grab hold of it, winding part of the chain around her wrist before pulling the scythe blade out and feeling her flesh mend back together. She knew nothing of how to wield this thing but she knew her opponent held the other end. Ting took an immensely deep breath, signaling the beginning of the Seven Heavens Breathing Method. She felt her body overcome by an invigorating sensation as she yanked the chain with the full force of her might, in an effort to unbalance her opponent as he continued an assault on her. Two blades of wind would rend deep into her, slicing her at shins and chest but Ting would not relent. The wounds would heal as her Wound Erasure technique met its end, healing off the last of the damage it could.

Her enhanced reactive ability and strength would allow her to take on the damage of the technique and react to Yoshi before he could completely bypass her. The chain of the kusarigama wrapped twice around her wrist allowed the blade itself to dangle, giving her access to her fist even as she continued to hold the weapon hostage. Amidst his dedicated slide beneath her Ting would swing her fist with her full might, the Agezuki technique increasing the speed of her strike far beyond that of her opponent. The fracturing force of the blow was poised to make impact with his shoulder, the spiked gloves hungry to sink into vulnerable flesh as her feet became frozen to the ground. After her attempted assault, Ting would prepare to protect herself from further damage, speeding up her cellular division even further with the Wound Termination technique.

This is intense.

Indeed it was, this match is much more intense than his previous one. In his bout with Makoto the young boy wouldn’t move from his location at the start sort of disabling Yoshito’s most winnable strategies which were the use of Taijutsu. Ting seemed to be the polar opposite of Makoto, she was seemingly another user of Taijutsu, her true abilities were yet to be discovered by the young boy seeing that she has only used bursts of speed so far and taking damage. The kusarigama hit the girl’s arms cutting both biceps one and a half inches deep, no doubt she would be feeling the pain. However, as if some sort of miracle, her wounds magically healed almost as quickly as they appeared. She flinched from the quick incision of pain though and Yoshi noticed that as he slid. There must be a weakness to this defense of hers. He thought during the slide and all his previous actions. The wind blades plunged into her chest and the left eye. She couldn’t move from his Sub-Zero Ground technique disabling foot movements and so she tanked the hits blades of condensed air. The wounds healed quickly just as before. She either had two defensive techs just as Makoto did or she was just some superhuman. Either choice wouldn’t be too far from a stretch of the imagination after witnessing what he had so far in these events.

The flinches of pain allowed the young boy’s slide to come to completion. As his body moved only feet from Ting’s backside the sound of the chains of his Kusarigama could be heard louder than most noises so far in the match. A large collective gasp could also be heard from the crowd. The blades dangled about as Ting wrapped the chain around her fist causing more contusions on her arms, more than likely the heat of battle made her move faster than she could actually handle and that was a good thing for Yoshito. Before standing while still holding the Sub-Zero Ground Yoshi’s elbow would be encased in an aura of chakra but the brunt of the attack would be injected into Ting’s chakra network. His elbow would land at her lower back more than likely causing a staggering sensation as her defensive strategy would come to a halt when the chakra enters her own system.

RUMBLE. RUMBLE. RUMBLE.

Suddenly the earth began to growl at the ones standing upon it once more signifying the drop would be coming yet again with another five meters of empty tiles. With his enhanced speed, Yoshito would twist his body around Ting’s on the opposite side of the empty pit as a copy of Yoshito would be created. Without actions from Yoshi or audible motions, the clone would know what to do. It wrapped Ting in a tight hug just after her punch to the ground as the tiles dropped and exhaled water from its mouth encasing it and Ting as they dropped. All those who were in the location would drop into the pit along with the tiles of the ground. Yoshito’s eyes widened as he was shook for only a moment. He couldn’t worry about Ting or his clone at that point, his main focus would be to make sure he wouldn’t fall to the ground. He couldn’t see the bottom of the pit so presumably, it would be too deep to make landing safely almost impossible. He, Ting and the clone were too close to the original edge of the circle to simply reach out or use Supernatural Walking Practice to keep themselves from plummetting to certain doom. They were only one meter from the original opening and if the hole continued at its previous five meters, then they were four meters from any discernable edge and Yoshito knew that as the tiles dropped making quick calculations along with things he learned earlier in the match watching the tiles drop.

The young boy’s hands danced together for two hand signs and suddenly his right hand extended outward onto the edge of the circle of death. A chain made of ice would propel forward sticking onto the edge discontinuing his fall. Hanging there for less than a second Yoshito glanced into the black abyss listening for any cues that Ting could have possibly made it and the glance was there to see her should she have survived. The crowd was silent at first but when they saw a hand on the outer edge of the pit they would erupt altogether. Yoshito made his way out of the pit and drag himself to safety, making his way to the edge of the arena just in case it would empty more.

Slippery. Her opponent was more like another Yoshi she had faced down against in the past. She missed with Agezuki, striking the ground as she watched Yoshito sail beneath her feet, taking advantage of the staggering pain of the damage Ting had accepted in the exchange to make it through unscathed. The crowd was reactive to almost everything that occurred here, this split second interaction taking away their breath as a sharp elbow landed upon Ting’s back. She felt a weight lift, her cells no longer preparing for damage as she had instructed. He had shut down her defenses. It was an intelligent decision, deliberate and calculated. She would feel a tight squeeze as she was embraced by what was either a clone or Yoshi himself, based on the fact that there were two of them now. Water flooded over Ting’s body, encasing her in a prison of water she could not escape. Quickly thinking, she used Chakra Reverse Pulse, sending a wave in a five meter radius that would eliminate her watery tomb, strike the clone and interrupt it’s chakra flow momentarily.

The rumbling of the ground caving beneath her would startle her, gravity having its way with the tile upon which they all stood. She pulled her feet out of their icy restraint, and in that moment she would evoke four long tendrils of muscle from her back, wrapping one around the fleeing Yoshito’s waist while slamming her fist forward into the clone which had imprisoned her. It would immediately be dispelled from the damage of the spiked knuckles. Another tendril would swing forth and strike the chain her opponent was using to secure himself safety, breaking it and jerking him away from the safety of it as she flung him downward and used her own technique to create a point of leverage in the air to bound off of, propelling herself ten meters up into the air, out of the pit as her opponent would find himself tumbling down, dead center in the pit where she had chosen to fling him if her maneuvers succeeded. Ting knew she was in grave danger, so she would use the line of sight she had on her jacket to substitute over to the wall just near where she entered the arena.

Tiles fell down into the pit as Yoshito was hanging there looking down into the abyss. He could see Ting and his kusarigama right next to her. He watched as the clone dispersed into water around Ting’s body, her slender frame became wet from the water. Just after the clone and the Water Prison had failed to create the vision Yoshito had planned, tentacles erupted from Ting’s body, two heading for the young boy. He didn’t know what they were planning to do exactly but he knew that they had doom written in their DNA. Yoshito’s eyes squinted on the kusarigama he once threw at his opponent and moved quicker than any eye could detect. Utilizing the Substitution Technique that he prepped when the match began the young boy would almost just appear next to Ting. Once again in the close quarters as just before they fell into the pit. They were free falling, no footholds or anything within Yoshi’s range of motion but they were closer than their personal space bubbles liked.

As his body nearly materialized, ice crystals appeared and shot forth onto Ting’s neck as he had finished his last battle he was hoping that this would be enough to end this match as well. Yoshi and Ting weren’t too deep into the pit, light made things still visible pouring in from the illuminated arena overhead. The crystals moved at Ting’s neck in a fraction’s fraction of a second due to their speed coupled with the range at which he appeared next to her body. All these movements happened well within the limitations of the phrase, ‘less than a second’ making these difficult to react to. The whole match it would be understood that in terms of reactionary purposes, Yoshito had the upper hand above his opponent with exponential feats.

Without the breath of another second after the crystals shot toward Ting his body contorted in a flip of sorts bringing his leg down onto Ting’s stomach at twenty meters per second, again with the range given after the quick movement thanks to the Substitution Technique it would also be extremely difficult to dodge, this kick would take Ting’s body further down into the pit with strength matching that of her own technique used earlier to attack him, but instead hitting the arena’s ground. After following through with the kick into Ting’s stomach the boy’s foot would suddenly be encased in Wind Chakra using the Weightless Step technique he created for situations just like this. His feet would create mini pockets of air and utilize them for footholds to jump upward at a diagonal way to the edge of the pit at the top. Using another foothold created by the shells of air all around him he would take the opportunity to make another jump toward the edge of the arena knowing that if the hole kept getting wider and wider that he would not have a choice other than to fall into the abyss. As he jumped from the edge he would turn to the pit once more while making the jump out, so as his leg muscles tensed to make the jump, he would release a strong stream of wind from his mouth to not only catch Ting should she somehow find a way to escape but also take his body on a journey faster away from the abysmal pit at an increased rate being five meters per second.

In an instant Yoshi would move out of sight as if he had never been in the path of her tendril in the firstborn place, as a reactionary measure, the moment she felt the kusarigama leave her arm and appear where the opponent had been falling previously, she would let out her shattering kiai shout to save herself from a near instant demise at the end of sharpened ice spikes. The young man was fast and had underestimated Ting entirely. Even with two of her tendrils occupied, the young Konoha woman still had two available that were ready to move at a moments notice. The two which still had to retract would do so quite quickly, but she would use the two still nearby to act against the strike aimed toward her stomach, enhancing the first tendril with her crackle technique and slamming it into his torso just where the liver would sit within his torso. The shock and pain would be enough to knock Yoshi out, the typical result of a liver shot. This tendril would deliver its strike at 45 meters per second, far too fast for any reaction and would drive him away from Ting in order to reject the attempted kick to her own stomach. The two tendrils still retracting from the prior position would wrap around the knocked away and potentially unconscious Yoshi, the blue haired shinobi would swing her fist with no enhancements, spikes aimed for the eyes in hopes to finish him if wasn’t already gone. The arena had collapsed entirely, there was nothing to grab hold of and there was no safety to seek out. They were both falling to whatever existed at the bottom of that pit. There was no way of knowing what would be ruled the result of the bout.

After her last ditch efforts, Ting would use the two spare tendrils which had now reached back to shove off of a created point of leverage, propelling herself for twenty meters at twenty-five meters per second back up into the air, staring down at the pit Andy if she had rendered her opponent unconsciousc watch him fall to his loss.

Yoshito was ready to end the glorious battle with this Leaf girl. The battle had been a testament toward their taijutsu abilities and so far it seemed that Yoshito was the victor in that matchup so far. He saw an opening to activate his substitution technique and so he took it to ensure his win in the battle. However, as his body switched with the kusarigama the girl let out a scream just before his icicles could make contact. Yoshito wasn’t prepared for such a scream, at first it was a simple scream one might make in a defensive holler for help. But suddenly as quick as the wind it pushed his body back toward the edge of the wall. The yell emitted a shockwave originating from her vocal cords enhanced with chakra, his body was sent toward the outermost edge and before he had a chance to even react one of Ting’s tentacles smashed the young Yuki clansman in his stomach. The extra limb struck his liver and suddenly the arena went black. He couldn’t hear a thing, his vision became abysmal.

Am I dead? Is this the end?

Thoughts rushed through his head thinking as to what he could have done differently to win the match for Kirigakure. Win the match for his family. But none of that was so important now. He obviously lost the match. Whatever Ting may have done after the strike to the boy wouldn’t be accounted for as his consciousness was suspended in a limbo like state, surely a proctor would come and step in before anything too serious would take place physically. He was trapped within the confines of his own mind thinking. Just thinking.

Why didn’t I win? She just knew when I disappeared that I would reappear next to her? She most likely noticed my kusarigama appear where my body was just beforehand. She’s good, quick too. Makoto wasn’t like this, Ting’s just better. I wish I could have won. I wish… I could have won.
