Clan History: The story of the Santaku is one lost to the ages. Whispers upon lips of those leaving this life say they first hailed from the land of wind. Others claim that they were vagrants, never truly having a home. Still more would say members of this clan descended from the heavens themselves. The only thing that anyone agrees on is that the members of this clan have a hierarchy based on the colour of the Santaku's wings. If asked, one would simply get cold stares in response to the history of the clan and would be left wanting for answers. There was only ever one person who seemed to know how the clan had begun, and what caused the secrecy and hierarchy to develop.

From what could be gathered, those born of ebon wings were among the first in the clan, the ivory winged kin being considered as a 'dilution' of the bloodline. It all seemed to have started with one child ages past, which then grew on as each clan member took a mate. Normally each clan member would sire two children: one of ebon wing and one of ivory wing. Those who were born with the former were destined to become warriors, to live a life of combat and strife. While those who were born of the latter were meant to be healers, gatherers, and supporting illusionists for the clan.  On the outside, it simply seemed as though they had a mutually beneficial relationship towards each other, but on the inside of the walls, one would find those with light wings being treated as less than dirt.

Nothing more is known, given the clan's secretive nature, but that doesn't stop scholars from theorizing and trying to uncover the truth.

Kekkei Genkai Name: 翼の二重性 Tsubasa no nijū-sei
Kekkei Genkai Description: Dependent on the colour of the member's wings, they will be set down a path predetermined for their station. Generally Ebon Winged members find themselves as warriors and follow the path of the Himaru. While those of Ivory wings will find themselves filling a support role most often and journeying the path of the Niitah. While how each member uses their gifts is up to them, it's not often such molds are broken. [The path should be listed in one's character creation.]

The Santaku: All members of this clan naturally have the ability to use their appendages (the wings) for moderate flight, and have a special seal between their shoulder blades which can be activated upon their will.

• Sealed in Secrecy: Santaku clan members start each topic with their wings sealed and must pay -5
  chakra to unseal them for use.
  

• The Currents We Follow: Santaku clan members are blessed with the gift of flight, and while it is normally not prolonged naturally, they are able to find a modicum of use in it, depending on their ranks. The speeds at which a Santaku my 'fly' are based on their speed stats and follow stat guidelines.
  
  
• D-Rank: The Santaku is able to glide above the ground no more than five meters proficiently for up to two posts, before falling back to the earth. They will then be subject to waiting a full ten posts before using their wings for gliding again.
  
• C-Rank: The Santaku is able to 'fly' just a bit higher, reaching up to eight meters above the ground, for two posts, before coming back down. They must then wait eight full posts before using their wings for flight again.
  
• B-Rank: Maturing slightly, the Santaku is able to reach ten meters off the ground, and flap their wings for a burst of speed matching a C-Rank Speed stat burst start. They can hold this for three posts before they must land again, not being able to take to the air for another eight posts.
  
• A-Rank: Nearly mastering their wings, the Santaku may reach fifteen meters off the ground, flying around at their leisure, or flapping their wings for a burst of speed match a B-Rank Speed stat burst start. Flight may be held for three posts before they must land, unable to take flight again for seven more posts.
  
• S-Rank: Having mastered the art of flight, the Santaku is able to fly up to twenty meters into the air and may buffet their wings to burst off at A-Rank speed start burst start up to twice within the four posts they may hold this, every other post. After four post, they must land and may not take to the air again for six posts.
  

Himaru: Born of blackened wings, the Himaru excel in either taijutsu or chakra flow, using these to supplement their natural wings. As such it's not uncommon for their jutsu to incorporate weaponizing their feathers or the entire wings themselves, changing the shape and solidity to suit each situation.

• Adaptive Wings: Himaru are capable of adapting their wings using ninjutsu or chakra flow to suit their combat needs. They have extensive training in doing this and are able to sharpen or solidify their wings to cut or pierce as if they were weapons of one rank higher than their current ninja rank's minimum. IE: D-Rank ninja can shoot feathers from their wings to pierce up to 1.5 inches into flesh, instead of one inch. There is a maximum amount of feathers the user may 'shoot' from their wings, Starting at five for D-Rank, and raising by five for each time their ninja rank raises. Shooting these feathers costs -5 chakra for each five, up to a maximum of -25 chakra at S-Rank for 25 feathers.
  
• Upon Ebon Wings: Naturally inclined to dark winged aviaries, Himura receive a 10% discount on ryo and training costs for Raven-based Senjutsu and pets that are of the Corvidae (Crow Family) variety.
  

Niitah: Those of Ivory wings, the Niitah excel in either Iryo ninjutsu or Genjutsu, supporting other ninja with these abilities. It's rare to find a Niitah as a fighter, though not impossible. They're masters of illusion and healing, keeping their clan members healthy and safe with a steady scalpel or illusionist mantra. Weaker than their black winged brethren in combat situations, they excel more when it comes to medicine and as scouts.

• Medical Savant: Niitah secrete a special dew from their wings which can be absorbed by their feathers to heal wounds of a specific rank on other people. At D-Rank minor cuts and bruises may be healed this way, following the minimum damage/healing guidelines for jutsu,ranking up with the user, up to A-Rank wounds. This puts a strain on the Niitah and they may only do this up to twice per topic, with five or more posts in between. Doing this saps -15 chakra from their pool. (Requires Iryo Ninjutsu)
  
• The Ivory Current: Naturally inclined to light winged aviaries, Niitah receive a 10% discount on ryo and training costs for Heron-based Senjutsu training and pets that are of the Ardeidae (Heron Family) variety.
  

Drawbacks:

While the Santaku have a hierarchy and either branch is good at something or the other, neither are masters of much, as such any Santaku must take both Hesitant Spec and Hesitant Element without balancing them with positives.

Clipped Wings: Santaku are naturally akin to birds and as such their wings are incredibly sensitive. To this end, the Santaku's wings will always have an endurance one rank lower than the Santaku's ninja rank, not dropping below D-Rank.

Frailty of the Mind or Body: Himura are naturally headstrong combatants, while Niitah are frail support roles. Due to this, Himura must take Short Fuse Negative Special Characteristic and Niitah must take Frail Negative special characteristic without balancing them with a positive.

Lost Flight: To heal the Santaku wings takes two medical jutsu of the same rank as the Santaku (or one of a higher rank). Should a Santaku lose their wings, they will be permanently gone without an S-Rank or higher medical technique made specifically to reconstruct tissue and appendages.

• The Currents We Follow: Some more details for movement speed in their glide / flight states please. This mostly applies to the lower ranked wings but it doesn't hurt to have a bit more details with the higher ones as well, in this case.
