1 Routine Exam [Flashback/Daremo] Sat Oct 06, 2018 7:18 pm
Mitsuru
D-rank
Mitsuru waited at their cubicle doing some paperwork. As a career genin, one although well respected and liked, was not particularly skilled enough to actually heal more than scraps and bruises. Their skills were more like the civilian doctors. Hospitals in shinobi villages were different from those outside its walls. Only the wealthy and shinobi had access to the medical ninjas who would treat injuries and illnesses with chakra. Otherwise, most people never saw chakra used medically and could only afford natural remedies of the chakraless counterparts of medical shinobi. Mitsuru was one of the few in the civilian sector of the hospital who could use a healing jutsu or too but it was not much. They stayed working on check-ups. In fact, they had a psych evaluation on abused child victim in the next forty or so minutes. The exam brought back memories of their own exams many years ago...
Flashback Begins
A preteen Mitsuru sat on the windowsill, swinging their skinny little legs as they wondered who was going to exam them today. Usually, it would be Doctor Rin, but she was currently on a sabbatical in the land of fire, specifically Konohagakure right now, and thus won't be available to exam them. Mitsuru did not know how they felt about it. There was a slight longing, an emptiness in them they did not understand. She was pretty but not overly so. She was not of blood relation nor pretended to be. They saw her maybe once or twice a week depending on things went. Yet there was this strange ache now that she was gone. Was this loneliness? Mitsuru's emotions were still very much suppressed and still had difficulty expressing their emotions. The village doctors attributed it to the trauma that they experienced. It had been a little over two years since the village rescued them. Any doctor who read Mitsuru's files would know that they were recovered during a raid on a suspected child trafficking ring. The illegal human traffic ring turned out to be a branch of the horrifically infamous branch of the Jashin Cult. The child was found on a sort of alter with the cult symbol carved into their hands, chest, and forehead, bleeding profusely and on death's door with some sort of strange dark chakra clinging to them. The ninja described it as horrific as they found several mutilated children, all dead except for Mitsuru. There were a few immortals at the hidden temple but eventually they were neutralized, the squad losing a few members in the process. The child had been sold to the cult by his suna immigrant family members who could no longer afford to feed them.
The child has been adjusting decently enough, however. There were no scars that remained and the strange dark chakra was pretty much nonexistent now, just being small silvers that were rarely seen. Half a year since they were rescued, the child was placed into the academy. The village routinely sends recruiters to the orphanage to look for ninja hopefuls and Mitsuru had expressed a desire to join as thanks to those who rescued them. They were in the top of their class, having a strange knack for detail, chakra control, ninjutsu, and fire. They also got on well enough with their classmates although they remained rather closed off and alone, appearing having difficulty relating to the innocence of their peers. As they were going to be entering their third year in the ninja academy in a few months, the physical examination alongside the psych would be conducted to address all concerns.
