It is known a representative of Hastur moved around the world to bring black raiton clouds, which lead to the CE being held in Kumo since it heralded Hastur's existence. Lord Hastur, commander of the storm. Brook like thunder, strike as lightning. The one man to walk the green earth that wielded Black Lightning. Billowing with dark majesty. Honnari was no fanatic, but credit was due where it was earned.

Blackening the sky, and etching a giant scar; It's swift, jagged ends. A wound that never healed. Every step made Honnari ponder. He'd been there once, to Suna, if only to ingest the flavor of the wastelands. What was it that he sought there? Witness? Reverance? To chronicle?

The Kage Summit held there lead to the Nations huddling together to lay claim on Sunagakure, in which Suna refugees & Ruyjin clashed with nations at the Siege of Inabayama.  Figure heads, chess pieces of high status, supposedly made their move. The enemy moved against one another, and tension was cut short by the blades of either foe. In the end, the desert sun sweltered the dunes, drying up the blood-stained earth. as if cleansing it with it's holy rays. But, what was fought for, had surely not been settled.

'Afterall, the brightest light, will cast the longest shadows.'

And everything that is prone to break promises and dance in the dark, would make this curtain call their standing ovation, yet!

"I would surmise, that these events from the mouth of many, are true. And therefore my--personal chronicle of this 'Siege of Inabayama' and what ever else lies beneath, can begin." A delicate, deft hand gripped his quiver. Begging to fall from his person. "Perhaps there are a few that will be in the dedication as I move forward. Still, so many questions... Who fought? Why did they fight? And perhaps, the circumstances surrounding this primeval proceeding?"

From what he was told by a Suna Refugee, it was a snake that transformed the Wind Country into an inhabitable, less-than-ideal, shell of it's former self. Lawlessness, paradise for the average outlaw. Perhaps Honnari was naive, but he found that scope of destruction beyond the capability of one single-handed marauder. Maybe his mind couldn't imagine beyond what it had yet to experience, but regardless. And if he needed experience, then speak not; for he wanted no part.

Honnari saw it in relation to creation myths. Stories about forces working against each other. Like most, there are three planes of being. Light, dark, and--chaos in-between. It is at this time that those who rebel against the light, claim dominion over Dankness. And so would ensue the beginning Armageddon, and the first death of all transcendental beings alike. But as is commonly known, the war in all the different heavens, never stops there.

"Out of all this nations, the Leaf have had the most of it's kind to turn ontheir own nation, and work against it's interest. What could be the reason for that? And why do they all work in adjunct to our enemies?"

His bucket list was long: Learn the tale of Hastur. Delve deeper into the alliance with the blood mist, as well as the Mizukage's cryptic battle in the Siege. Unearth the ties that bind Risu's story to the Leaf, and the man responsible for taking her down. Learn each and every motive down to every subconscious thought. And avert any other dark future. He was one man, but surely, someone, somewhere must feel the same way.

If every Nation was laying to claim to Suna, then were the Leaf's intention entirely pure of heart? Where his loyalty was concerned, everything he was doing, and planned on doing, was for the Leaf. But the line between light and dark, is thin.

"I just have to keep moving. Across this insurmountable distance, will answers appear."

Izumi rose early as she normally did, the first hints of sunlight playing tricks with the dying night sky to turn it into brilliant shades one would have to see to understand. The greens and violets mixed with the natural blue to give the light a special quality that comforted Izumi, the sunrises and sunsets in the Wind Country were without peer. The Karisuma were an old clan in these lands but there weren't many of them left. Too many had met untimely ends in the previous generation, admittedly they were largely at fault for their extermination. Had Mitsuo not murdered her clan elders Izumi would likely have been dead or alive as a slave, sold for her natural beauty. It was a strange feeling, understanding the death of your clan, Izumi had come to terms with it long ago. Every morning, Izumi took a walk to watch the sunrise from the tallest dune near her camp. Afterwards she'd go looking for targets, revolutions don't fund themselves and what better way to fund yourself than to steal from your enemies. The Karisuma rarely left survivors and the ones she did let live were converted to servants of her own or her master in one way or another. Izumi executed most anyone she crossed paths with who wasn't an ally.

Leaving her lover to sleep in cuddled in their furs, Izumi dressed in silks with her scarf covering her head save for the sunglasses laden eyes that held more than a small amount of power. The woman tied her headband showing the symbol of the Village Hidden in the Sands around her left bicep. Izumi packed a simple meal of jerk, a flask of whiskey, and a few of her hand rolled cigarettes for the journey home at later that night. The blonde woman set out on her trek, sending Raiton chakra into the world as she walked. If anyone got near her she'd know without so much as a hint to them that they were being tracked. The young woman had used the method for so long it was like the extra senses were a part of her. She could feel their chakra and the life force of every living thing within three hundred meters of her. The hike took a couple hours, she didn't like to operate near the camp so it was harder to track her movements. There was no one she didn't expect to sense while she on her journey to the high crest of the dune where she'd have her breakfast.

As Izumi savored the sweet jerky and appreciated the sunset she couldn't help but feel at peace. Sometimes she hated how her search for power had left her largely friendless but in the end it was her own choice. She'd chosen this life, she could have just happily rode it out in the Mist but her decision had been made and there was no going back now. As Izumi put away the dried meat her head snapped to her left, her extrasensory ability having picked up a foreign chakra signature in that direction. This one was an oddity, the chakra signature felt powerful enough to belong to a shinobi but they seemed to have no elemental natures. The woman sped off kicking up a cloud of sand when she first leapt off but otherwise being rather stealthy for someone moving so quickly, the lack of air resistance when she moved allowed her to be fairly light on her feet as she covered the sands between herself and the strange signature. Once she got close enough to make out the details with her eyes, Izumi noticed a leaf headband and at that moment would move to close the gap between them and cut off the interloper. Izumi would guess they're a genin based on the amount of chakra she could sense, “Don't they tell you kids about all the bandits? What's a Leaf genin doing away from its handler?” The only people Izumi held in lower esteem than Leaf Ninja were Cloud Ninja, those she killed on sight. However the leaves generally at least had a chance to talk to her even if her mind may have already been made up.

Finally the day Honnari has been dreading is here and he can't halt the dawn ebbing it's gradual way into daylight. Everything hinges on what he does, and once done it can never be undone. He can't think straight this morning, He put his arrows in the wrong quiver and then panicked when he couldn't find it. Today it could be the difference between walking away and a shallow grave behind him in the time to come. His hands spread like pale starfish around his standard-issue bow, and they are cold too, resisting the warmth that struggles to seep into them. He must be quite gaunt, but he'll not be looking in the mirror today. He don't want to see his face, will it look like the faces of the Leaf shinobi who ventured here, who never came back?

'In the warm breeze of a beautiful morning, and yet it feels like I'm shaking.'

If Honnari stayed up all night it would have made no difference to his exhaustion. By the morning the bed sheets were in a knot and aside from a few fit-full half hours of vivid dreams, he didn't sleep a wink. His brain is constantly searching for any sign that he's alright, like a radio seeking a channel when he move through the sand passes. But like the radio, he's out of range, unreachable. He will either walk over the brow of the hill before the sun is full in the sky or he will not. Then he will know. His stomach shifts uneasily and he notices that the hands that he was hugging himself with are pinching into his skin. He releases his hands but then he can't figure out what to do with them, so instead they clasp and unclasp each other as if in constant need of touch and reassurance.

Don't they tell you kids about all the bandits? What's a Leaf genin doing away from its handler?

A hostile, feminine voice shattered his peace. He raised his head from his thoughts, and there she was. Light-haired, with looks to boot. She probably saw the shock register on his face before he could hide it. A small smile played tugged on her lips. What seemed to be escaping Honnari, was how she wandered this close to him without her noticing. No way their meeting was coincidence. It was possible that he was being tracked, or maybe even followed. She remarked his Leaf heritage, which he thought was strange. His helm didn't allow room to wear it on his forehead, but when he looked on his arm, and realized it may have been slightly visible, he quickly realized he was in error. There was a frightening moment where Honnari's face washed blank with confusion, like his brain cogs couldn't turn fast enough to take in the information from his wide eyes.

Only a few or so days outside the Village walls, and he was already in danger. This was not good.

Surprise isn't an emotion anyone ever takes well. Generally someone gets hurt and it's always been the weakest people, in his experience. So when he is approached by this blonde woman, in all her gaud, the blood drains from his skin and every movement becomes robotic, his instinct taking over. Fight or flight. For perhaps a split second his grief was suspended, the surprise protecting him until it shattered like glass. One could call it shock, but to most  they're the same thing for the first fraction of a second --an inability to compute.

A kick of adrenaline shoved him 9 or so meters away from the potential threat. His hand slick with mild sweat, grappled at his bow. His unseen forehead began to wrinkle with worry.  However he didn't knock an arrow, nor take aim. That wasn't how he did things.

"Not only of the Leaf, but also a genin." He was amazed, and frightened all at once. "And you assume that--by sight alone? If you're here to actively harm me, then I will draw my arrow.

His words may have held courage, but not much merit.

Izumi wore a sadistic smile behind the scarf covering her mouth. She wore her sick satisfaction thanks to the pretty person before her, at long distance Izumi had thought she was approaching a man but now she wasn’t so sure, at the very least if it was a man he was very feminine in both appearance and voice. Izumi’s smile was thanks to the fear she struck in her current plaything, but her mind was nearly made up on its fate. His clothing showed wealth, and his usage of a bow pointed that way as well. The bow was a noble’s weapon the peasantry rarely had time to get the training one needed to be an expert with the skillful weapon so it was safe to assume this person wasn’t the run of the mill shinobi. What Izumi had thought was a leaf symbol from a distance was in fact the carvings on an intricate mask. She rarely guessed wrong so she was a bit angry at herself for the misidentification. For all she knew this could be a stray Sand genin. If it had been poised that stayed their hand Izumi would have been impressed but the only reason the interloper hadn’t drawn their weapon was fear and shock. Izumi giggled a bit as he back pedaled away the idea that this person actually thought they could make any meaningful distance amused her. "Not only of the Leaf, but also a genin. And you assume that--by sight alone? If you're here to actively harm me, then I will draw my arrow."

He sounded brave but his initial fear told her the truth, the woman giggled once again before unmasking herself, drawing the scarf back from her face a hood and removing her sunglasses, her blonde hair could finally be seen framing her pretty face. “If I’m being honest it was a lucky guess, you were coming from the right direction and I thought that fancy mask had a leaf symbol. I was also right about you being a genin. Lucky me. It would be rude not to introduce myself before continuing. I am Izumi Karisuma, daughter of the Sand, and formerly of the Mist. Now, tell me where you’re going and what you’re doing in my country. After that I’ll tell you if you’re going to get there…” The woman’s voice had a playful quality to it, truly betraying her casual attitude to the interaction. Izumi sat down right where she stood in the sands completely ignoring the possible threat of the genin in front of her. If by some miracle this genin was a master of perception they would be able to see a faint glow in her eyes. While she was sure this person was no threat, Izumi was afraid they’d try to run so she prepared to daze them with the power held in her eyes she’d used many times. Izumi was very careful who she used it on and their victims rarely survived. However, the blonde woman was intrigued by this extravagantly dressed person and had decided before she even responded that they would live. The eyes were only to ensure they stayed should they move to run. Although she was being honest when she said she wasn’t sure if they’d reach their destination. In the few moments between her utterance and her continuance Izumi would adopt a smile and pat the earth in front of her, “… Well sit down with me. And please don’t run, I really hate chasing people just to have a conversation.” The woman’s playful tone had continued with her smile and she calmly awaited a response from this strange person she’d found wandering near her favorite perch.

She was giggling like a little girl, a thing she did a lot when she probably felt amused. That begs the question, if that is what their interaction was doing; amusing her? Though it was very quaint, because her sounds were not full of malice, nor ill-intent. He could swear that even the birds were silent just to hear her beautiful laughter emerging and filling the air. When her garbs were removed, and her youthful countenance could breathe, Honnari found himself in silent envy. He didn't particularly enjoy the company of just anyone, name one or two. But certainly not of women. So he found it justifiably odd that her looks were one to captivate him. A voice laced with potential venom, yet all he was concerned for, was if looks did in deed, kill.

She had an obvious way of demonstrating that she saw him as no threat. And while that struck his pride, at least it hadn't struck him dead.

'Izumi Karisuma. Daughter of the Sand? Although she hails from Kirigakure? Strange. Has she, or someone else, crowned her the queen of these dunes, or is she just being garish?'

She patted a spot near her, and as anyone knows, that means to take a seat. It seemed like the quickest way to get on good terms with her, but he wouldn't dare move within arms reach. Instead, he held his position, and slowly lowered himself like dust proliferating in the wind. He wanted to make sure his gown would spread as he crouched, and not fold at his knees. Life or death, these robes were very fragile, and a pain to wash.

"You're country?" He said in a thin whisper. "So then, you are a new sort of--matriarch for the Sand?" His purpose for being here, was not simple, but he could easily sum it up. He already discovered, thus far, that she had some valuable traits and perhaps information; answers.

"I've come here for revelation. My journey here has not been kind. The heat has been daunting, and the lights of storm-filled nights, jagged. I was here, once before, and looked upon the glassed oasis. So forgive my tresspass, if my unlawful appearance has angered you. But, something called me here."

He clenched his chest, feeling an angst to his breast he hadn't felt for quite some time. If he was looking for the focal of all this conflict he'd definitely come to the right place. There was no doubt in his mind that he'd find it here. In spite of her less than warm welcome, their meeting must have been fate.

"The stars are rather kind, and the gods equally aligned, for us to have met this way. I am--Honnari. And I've come to you're country to extend my horizions. A chance to witness history unfold with my own eyes." The determination was brewing in his chest, and overflowed in his tone. If she could see his eyes, they'd be bright as flames.

"In doing that, I can lend you all-- some my of own strength. Networking with souls who share my same volition. Unearthing the motives of not only the Blood Mist, but also the one's responsible for turning the Wind Country into this. The motives of the Kage's that attended the Summit, laying claim on a sovereign nation. To that end, I can chronicle and organize these events, and perhaps help avert an even darker future."

Crimson dusted the bottom of his jaws, just where his helm cut-off. Pouring his thoughts out to a complete stranger would have left him immediately bashful, had it been a conversation in passing. But not this. Ever since he first came here with Mokuzai, he's wanted to do more than just stop desert marauders. Or bind them to moral and values that have depreciated. He wanted to act, to do. He was someone who could appreciate the nuances of things, and salvaging a future for the Wind, and simultaneously quenching his thirst for lore, augured well with him.

His mouth formed a thin line, voice more stern then when he'd first begun. Hopefully, it also portended well with her. "Mistake my convictions, not of weakness, but assistance. Afterall, everyone needs a bit of solace."

For understandable reasons the man refused to sit (crouch) any closer than her stood, Izumi was only slightly offended her eyes narrowing for a moment as she fought back her irritation. His voice was barely audible, had there been wind or rain he would have been inaudible. "Your country?" So then, you are a new sort of--matriarch for the Sand?" Izumi nodded, “More or less correct.” Izumi was glad she hadn’t stabbed the man’s heart from the shadows now, he seemed interesting enough. "I've come here for revelation. My journey here has not been kind. The heat has been daunting, and the lights of storm-filled nights, jagged. I was here, once before, and looked upon the glassed oasis. So forgive my trespass, if my unlawful appearance has angered you. But, something called me here." His second bout of statements was even more intriguing than the start, the dim light in Izumi’s eyes would fade, the chakra gathered in them dispelled, her dojutsu unneeded for the time being. It seemed the man was willing to talk for a while without outside compelling. “Knowledge is something I have much of. Technically there are no laws here yet. Knowledge seekers are always welcome in my company, but if you want to learn my secrets you have to share yours too. Sorry for startling you, most people who come here are rarely after such noble causes as yours. As long as you don’t exploint this land or her people I see no reason to harm you.”

"The stars are rather kind, and the gods equally aligned, for us to have met this way. I am--Honnari. And I've come to you're country to extend my horizions. A chance to witness history unfold with my own eyes. In doing that, I can lend you all-- some my of own strength. Networking with souls who share my same volition. Mistake my convictions, not of weakness, but assistance. Afterall, everyone needs a bit of solace." Izumi’s eyes lit up this person, Honnari, seemed to be a kindred mind. Izumi’s love was history, and in her left hand a poof a smoke would reveal a well-worn leather bound journal that Izumi had for quite some time now, it was given to her under mysterious circumstances. One day it was in her mailbox with no return address. There were many parts of life that were unexplained that she hadn’t the time to research yet. One day when all the strife was settled she’d hunt down the answers she required. The evidence pointed to one source but everything she knew about him contradicted the implication. Another time, another day she would solve that mystery. Izumi reflexively held her lower left abdomen as she thought.

“This journal  is my ongoing manuscript for the historical records of our time. I will add your knowledge to it if you give it, and in return you will receive information that I have. If you are wise as you seem Honnari you will surely know, the most powerful things you can learn are secrets. The sand has many secrets, and I know many of them. I am seeking my own solace at the same time, my quest for power includes more than just secrets. If you want to write history, renounce the Leaf and join me. You are welcome to just learn what you will and leave but if you walk away from me you will be sworn to secrecy. I don’t mean to be impolite but I will gently remind you, you would not survive a meeting as my enemy and my trust is not easily given. I’d love to teach you all I know and more but that would require a much more serious commitment than many have the heart for.” Izumi rose and gracefully strode towards Honnari stopping a meter away from him with her hand left hand out. “I know you want to take my hand, Honnari.”

The sky glows like a summer peach and the sun is pure gold in the sky. The colours of the foliage in the Leaf right now, would return to green and the air warms to an ambient twenty or so. Still, even here it is the perfect dawn, one to be savoured instead of squandered. Under this radiant beauty Honnari can see the path, beyond the dunes, uncluttered, ready for a day of travelling to the great nation. Dawn sent shimmering rays over the coarse ocean, bestowing a golden path from his line of sight, to the horizon. Honnari blinked toward the sun that brought him a day he was never promised, yet was glad to see. He let the moment sink in, soothe him from his core right out to where the nascent rays touched his skin. This meant a new beginning was possible and possibilities meant hope.

A thick billow of smoke dispersed as quickly as it had appeared. And what it left behind was a weathered, leather-back novelette. He could smell it's dust and aged, yellow tinted pages. He could hear the crisp grind of parchment. The leather looked to be caking at either end of the spine. She's had that for a while, surely. It's seen better days. Just a page would be overwhelmingly enlightening no doubt.  She described it as her own written chronicle of oral history.

A short time here, and he had already found something meaningful. The only thing to make him frown. Was she said, that he'd have to renounce the Leaf. If she was as smart as he thought she was, she'd know a place of birth, homeland, memories, and experience were not easily stowed to the back-burner. There was no quick fix, or off switch. Suppose he hadn't made any extraordinary impact in Konaha, it still didn't mean that he didn't have an inherent bias \in favor of the Land of Fire.

"I'm willing to sacrifice status, time, and many more meticulous things, to be here. But outright defection, is something--different entirely. And--" This was a bump in the road he wasn't expecting.

"--Commitment is a rather curious word for two mere acquaintances, let alone complete strangers, yes?" He sent her a nervous grin. "I would not plague myself with the grief of turning my back on where I came from."

The dawn came with a musical silence, the soul hearing the melody that the ears could not. A new day had come, new possibilities, a fresh page yet to be written. The light went from the usual heat-less glare, to a tempered, steadily intensifying warm breathe. He looked her hand over again. The skin looked touchably soft, no sign of callusing anywhere. And yet, he was supposed to believe that an opposing encounter with her would be deadly? He was not one to underestimate even the most average looking of opponents, but that little remark didn't settle well to his breast. Regardless, everything has a cost. He would surely do well on learning just what gave her that fortitude, like tempered steel.

"But--" His hand finally glided into her's. "--If and until we do part ways, I think it is appropriate that we have a bases of mutual respect."

He looks to her eyes once more. And through her odious words, she seems so warm and he sightly feels as if he is in the wrong place, as if such comfort is only meant for others. She had a silver tongue. One could loose themselves in her words and the depth of her eyes; they could feel at home.  She could be the only water in this desert,  and one would only stand still and  watch, tempted but paralyzed. Commitment, trust, renounce, enemy. Heavy words, that which wrung true for any listener. Honnari would always instill trust in those who rightfully deserved it. And commitment soon followed; naturally. Her voice had a touch of mistrust; a touch of fear. Very curious.

Being sworn to secrecy foreshadowed beyond their bare-bones meeting. Which tied knots in his stomach, but they did not deter his wanderlust.

His form rose and grew, along with a jaded, titled grin. "Wary, Izumi-sama. Often--when we guess other's motives, we only reveal our own."

Izumi’s face showed no reaction once Honnari started speaking, "I'm willing to sacrifice status, time, and many more meticulous things, to be here. But outright defection, is something--different entirely. And commitment is a rather curious word for two mere acquaintances, let alone complete strangers, yes? I would not plague myself with the grief of turning my back on where I came from." At this point Izumi was satisfied, she knew she could trust Honnari at least for the time being. The kind of person who would so easily turn their back on their homeland was untrustworthy and evil. To betray your own for almost no reason was a horrible sin, the worst imaginable to the Karisuma woman. She had known much betrayal in her life and it was something she could not abide. "But, if and until we do part ways, I think it is appropriate that we have a bases of mutual respect.” His hand slid into hers finally. The man froze, when their skin made contact, she gave his hand a gentle squeeze and smiled. “Wary, Izumi-sama. Often--when we guess other's motives, we only reveal our own."

Izumi’s smile finally parted to return the courtesy of conversation unto the man, “Had you offered to cast aside your friends and family so easily I’d have killed you where you stood. I know I can trust you now Honnari, which is a comfort in these sands, our people have a well deserved reputation of banditry and other forms of less than moral dealings. My partner and I want to rebuild our home but we would really prefer if this information didn’t spread. The Sand has had enough of the world’s “help” and hope to be left alone for a while now. I’m going to ask you one more time, are you capable of keeping this quiet? You seem trustworthy but appearances aren’t always true. I’m not afraid to share my motives one needs only ask to find them. The real question is if I’ll let you live with that information.” Izumi locked arms with her new friend and walked onwards towards the place where Izumi would offer lodging as well as a brief taste of the some of the knowledge she held.

By now the air was starting to warm, Izumi guessed based on the position of its sun that it was around 9 am now. Today would be more hot than normal, Izumi could feel the sweat beginning as the pair walked arms locked. “What did you hope to learn while you were here Honnari? It’s been too long since I met a fellow scholar. It’s actually a bit exciting that I’ve met you today. This exchange will be enlightening I think, for the both of us. Tell me about your family, your clothes tell me you are not the average man. Neither of birth nor of experience. You see I grew up in the slums of Sunagakure, my mother hid our wealth in fear of my father or so she claimed. In the end it was passed to me after our village was destroyed. It was quite the surprise to be honest, living your whole life as a miserly waif only to find out you are the heiress of one your village’s great clans. I loved my home and I’m sad that it had to be destroyed in order to be reformed. I’m excited for the future and hopeful for the outcome but fear for the generation after us. Will they be able to resist the temptations of corruption? Sorry I talk too much, you can hardly get a word in at all. I feel terribly rude.  It’s just been so long since I had someone to talk to so frankly about the world. Not many pass the test. They think if they just agree with the scary woman that it’s what I want to hear. It takes a lot of courage to say no to me, I respect that.”

Izumi had little else of import to say while they walked and after about half an hour they made it back to Izumi and Nova’s camp. She waved to Aisu but didn’t see Nova yet, her lover must still be sleeping. It was unsurprising, her lover tended to sleep in when possible she wasn’t as physically fit and resilient as Izumi who could easily function on minimal sleep. Izumi led Honnari to one of the tents that was currently unoccupied. It had a large soft bed, a table with four chairs, and a dresser within. All of the furniture and fixings were of the best quality, stolen from the caravans of the God in Yellow. Izumi set at the foot of the bed and smiled at Honnari, “So... where should we begin?”

With the walls of mistrust withering away, her sincere output, and genial aptitude increased. Like cause and effect. Truthfully, he wasn't expecting her comeback. Though he thought it was not the answer she wanted to hear, it was the only one he had the dignity to mouth. It just goes to show that standing in one's own truth, and a bit of fortitude, could go a long way.

"Keeping this reclamation from officials? Curious. Especially since, if what you desire is reforging and rebuilding, organized expedition would be more efficient, would it not, Izumi-sama? But, if you really don't want me to say anything about this, then I acknowledge that. It seems slightly aberrant, but-- nevertheless."

From hostile opposites, to practically beaming friends, all of a sudden, she wanted to know more about him; of his clothes, in which, while born to a well off family, he  insisted to her that they were religious in nature. And that they gave praise to a Demiurge who faltered from the firmament of heaven. He told her about his mother Yoruko, and late father Himura. His father of course, holding a terrible contempt and scorn of Honnari. Not only of his seemingly inherent weakness, but that he seemed to be a mirror that hosted his empty reflection. He told her that his father held that resentment to his breast, and took it to his grave.

He was sure to bare his attention for her own personal synopsis. Apparently, the Karisuma, the clan which Izumi was of heritage,  were very wealthy. Held to high esteem. It would seem that her own conjugal life was also rather distance. But as Honnari grew to realize, most shinobi's didn't have the clarity for a normal upbringing. Maybe that it what spawns warriors. Those who do not wish other to suffer as they did.

"Has your entire clan been sent in diaspora because of all this? I would think in a time of crisis, a matriarch like you would be surrounded by your own kind."

Heat licked at their almost sunburned faces and coiled around their limbs like a great hot-blooded serpent. The ground smoldered and sent up a disorientating haze. Even the birds were silent and the weeds stood still as if too hot to move. The walk there was filled with silence, save for a swallow crying in the distance. About every 100 meters or so, Honnari always noticed that it was perched somewhere just offside their own path. When they'd come within a person's length of the bird, it would swiftly take off. It left him wondering:

'Was that swallow following us, or was it we who were following it?'

In the distance, Honnari noticed that they were encroaching on what appeared to be some encampment. The tent was massive and there was no blight of harsh linoleum or vinyl carried by the harmattan. Suggesting that this one's quality was better then those he'd last seen on an assigned excursion. Though the ones bordering the Excavation Site were usually run by lowly crooks, and marauders. And Izumi seemed like an honest Kunoichi. Not that he was expecting a mud-hud or anything similar, it was just a shame that work on lost infrastructure seemed practically, non-existent.

"Sod the world." He murmured under his breath.

When they arrived, Izumi ushered him in first, and he was instantly surprised by how cool it was. The material was breathable and allowed cool air to breed, unlike the cheaper, vagabond types. The ceiling of the tent was high. A large bed was off in a corner. Surrounded by lacquered chairs and tables that, when observed for their craftsmanship (fine, polished, seamless), stood out the most. It didn't look like the Wind country's style, which was naturally grand dome shaped highrises, catacombs, and unrefined furniture that was craved from the same stone used to build the citadels.

He drew his hand, two docile fingers poised together, glided on their surface. A swift stroke, and he gave them a look over. A light film of dust stuck to the silk fabric on his fingertips, but not much. They must be lazy to clean, or the tent was not particularly occupied by anyone. He'd give them the benefit of the doubt, and assume the latter. He heard the bed stir and squeal. He turned around to see that Izumi had made herself comfortable.

She grinned."So...where should we begin?"

Honnari assumed she meant basic information. Since they'd already exchanged formalities.

"No refreshments?" Honnari laughed. "Well then, I suppose, it would be, the catalyst of all this. The genesis of the story. The Kage Summit.--" His hands waded over the fine furniture as his mind brewed.

"--Do you know who all attended? Why did a Summit take place in relation to Suna in the first place? And, is the Raikage deranged?"

Izumi

A-rank
The conversation had become more and more relaxed and pleasant as their journey went on. Izumi did note however, that the young man’s incredibly pale skin did not react well to the sun of the desert. His formerly pale skin was beginning to redden under the burden of the sun’s ultraviolet rays. The topics had been cordial except for one phrase that hit Izumi in a somewhat sore spot. "Has your entire clan been sent in diaspora because of all this? I would think in a time of crisis, a matriarch like you would be surrounded by your own kind.” For a moment, Izumi would stop in her tracks stunned by the question and taking a moment to gather her first reaction to the question which was a growing a rage in the back of her skull that told her to hurt something or someone. These thoughts would pass in a mere moment, the woman’s mind moving at a high rate, “I suppose not many outside of the Sand Village would have heard given the state of our foreign affairs. My clan was destroyed by the same man that destroyed my home, Mitsuo Sarutobi. I’ve actually met the man before, while I was in the Cloud Village for the Chunin Exams. He’s insane and can hardly be held truly responsible for his actions, I in fact don’t hold him mentally responsible. He acts as if he’s a wild animal stuck on a single concept and purpose that he must fulfill. I will admit neither the Sand Village nor my own clan had the best moral compass. My clan was accused of a despicable crime which I must regrettably admit to even though I personally was too young to have been a contributor in any way the burden of their sins falls on me now. It’s an odd feeling, understanding why someone would kill your whole family. But even I can’t condone selling children into slavery especially one’s own. Don’t take my introspective attitude towards the sorrows of me and mine as complacency, all responsible will find justice one day hopefully at the end of my knife.

Izumi knew this was a bit of a laden mess of information but it felt nice to have someone to tell about it finally. In fact Izumi thought she’d quite like this young man should he stick around and maintain his more than amicable and polite manner. They had finally arrived by now and it seemed Honnari was less than pleased by their accommodations, truth be told it had been an adjustment for the Karisuma as well so she forgave his exasperated mutter that he surely meant for his own ears. The senses of a kunoichi were oft overlooked and Izumi saw no reason to quarrel over something so simple. Honnari seemed slightly uncomfortable when he turned around to see the Karisuma sitting on his bed grinning playfully. Honnari started with a light hearted joke about the lack of refreshments. Izumi was actually quite embarrassed she’d been so eager to learn that she’d forgotten common courtesy. Masking her flush with a giggle at his jest before he continued, "Well then, I suppose, it would be, the catalyst of all this. The genesis of the story. The Kage Summit Do you know who all attended? Why did a Summit take place in relation to Suna in the first place? And, is the Raikage deranged?”

It seemed despite his lighthearted jab he was just as eager to learn as well Izumi thinking quickly amended her discourtesy with her answer, “Of course we have refreshments, we’re not savages.” Izumi popped up from the bed and headed out of the tent clearly intending for Honnari to follow, “Frankly I only know what I can piece together since I was busy training for the exams when it happened, but… The summit was not an official one as far as I can tell so I can only assume it was directly in response to the information of Sunagakure’s devastation. I can also infer that based on what I know about Mitsuo he was there, because I when I met him he was wearing a Kumogakure headband much to my dismay. I can only assume he was directly recruited by Hastur as the Kage’s sick joke of justice. What it tells me is that the Kage are all corrupt and weak. I also don’t know who from Iwa was there to represent them, but I imagine he was none too important or I’d have his name at least. The other three great nations sent exactly who you’d expect, Rippa, Hastur, and Ayakashi. I dream of the day I see their blood. To answer your final question, I don’t think Hastur is deranged. I think he knows exactly what he’s doing and he’s not even ashamed because he thinks no one can stop him.”

Exit.
