There is this distinctive feeling one gets from knowing that many ambitions one had would finally come to an end. Verdandi had done many things since she came to the capital. Sabotaged a wedding. Infiltrated an organization. Become a double agent. Assassinated dozens of crime lords. Killed two insane generals. Slaughtered an army of over five hundred men to ashes. Faced the emotional despair of killing her former mentor and even gone through some nasty experiments. A long. Inspirational tale that would certainly hone her senses. Her skills. Her desires and wishes and her ability as a perfect tool in war. Verdandi had rested a few hours. Yanase was but below her. In the final room of this whole game. Literally the 'boss room' one could say. The irony wasn't lost to her and it'd continue to amuse her. Ozay's men were cleaning up the place. The last few soldiers were casually taken out by his men. Some loyal servants of the clan. Seemingly civilian would be captured and brought back to Ozay's place. A ton of loot would be removed. Ozay had even called for backup just so he could unearth more of the treasures below. Demolition man was slowly patching up the whole place in explosives. Technically. Verd could have just buried her last enemy here. Alive under the rubble of his empire. But that wasn't her style. Ozay would mention that his men finished. Looting was done. At least in any accessible locations. The storage room had long since been emptied.
All the treasures and money of the Yusuke would be carried to Ozay's place. His organization would be pretty wealthy now, putting aside that they had grown to the top of the syndicates anyway during Verdandi's campaign in the capital. He asked her once more if everything was fine and if she didn't want him to help. But Verdandi just shook her head. "This is something I must do. You know I do. Just don't blow up the place before I either lost or won okay?" she would smile and give her fake 'husband' that had accompanied her for this whole trip a last hug. Ozay would remove his forces. The lot of them returning to the surface above. Leaving but Verdandi alone with the final enemy. Verd opened the hatch behind the throne room and dropped in. It was a small room. Barely anything inside. "You must have felt how your commander died for you…" she said as she stood before him. Watching him slowly finish his meditation. Yanase was a handsome tall man. Young, but certainly talented. He lifted himself from his meditating position. Blew out the candles and bowed to Verdandi. He would motion for her to step out of the room so they could go back into the open hall. She nodded and jumped ahead. Yanase couldn't help but walk past the corpses of his guards before he sat himself right onto the empty throne. Verdandi making a grimace as he did so.
"Really now? After everything? You still sit down in that chair." She would speak as she, would hear for the first time Yanase's voice. "Silence." He spoke. Actually, interrupting Verdandi's banter. She gazed at him as she took a few steps. Walking around. "Yuan was a good man…" he started. Verdandi laughed. "Is that why you tortured him? Why you peeled out his eye and burned his face?" Verd would reply and keep on wandering with a seemingly disgusted facial expression. "He failed to see who you were while he vouched for you. I was obliged to kill him. I did not. But now that I see how he suffered, I think it would have been better if I just did back then…" Verdandi spit to the floor as he said that. "You are monster…" she spoke. "Oh, am I? And you? Aren't you a monster too? Aren't you here, tasked to kill me in cold blood? This wasn't your idea was it? You too, are just a pawn. Just like me." Verdandi stopped in her track. "What do you mean, you're just a pawn?" she would ask, wonder. Why would he say that? Wasn't he the most cruel of them all? The man with the big goals of defeating the villages. He laughed. Long and loud. Staring at Verdandi's annoyed face. "You think I'm the Mastermind? Do you think any criminal in the capital cares who comes to rule this country? They only want one thing Money. Influence. Power."
"So, what are you saying. You're just another…" Verd started but was interrupted by Yanase "…another officer in the ranks of a far greater army. One that now combines the red sands, the ryujin, the black cloaks. All of them. We all but serve one man. One true ruler of the sands." Verdandi flinched. She didn't like this. All her ambitions were but to foil one pawn that belonged to a much much larger and nastier network of enemies. She couldn't help but sigh, knowing that her superiors were well informed about that. Pretty sure they had all the intel about this big nasty enemy behind the scenes and that they didn't deem it necessary to inform Verdandi about it. She crunched her teeth together. But swallowed it. She was but a lowly young Jounin. Not in the position to demand the most top secret of information. All of this. It was a trial after all. For her to prove that she was worthy to be a real pawn for Kirigakure. She disliked the concept but had to admit it kinda was what she had been asking for in the first place. There wasn't much she could complain about. But then again. Yanase being a pawn or not. In her story. He was the king and Verd had foiled all other figures off the chess board and it was time for the king to go down and face the Queen in their final battle. "I see, your resolve is here, finally."
Verdandi nodded. "I think we both know what comes next. Lets just get it over with. I'm terribly tired of this game." She added. He would nod. Yanase stood. Unsheathing a marvellous shiny blade. A nasty weapon. She could tell that getting cut by it was a bad idea. He launched. He was fast. Faster than her. Verdandi's marvellous reaction time but the only thing that kept him from slicing his blade straight through her arm. He moved again. To behead her. Verd could still see his sharp blade come some locks of her hair away as it past her. His leg soon coming to meet her as he basically kicked her through the next stone pillar and into a wall. Painful. Verdandi quickly wrecked herself up. Seeing how Yanase was placing his hands together. Familiar with the wind seals he was making for the wind technique slash, Verdandi let her Sharingan do the work of timing the copy of the jutsu perfectly and sending her own slash right back at him. Colliding in the middle. Sending a large blast of wind chakra to exhale in the room. Yanase would move forward with wind seals. Verdandi's eye working overtime as she mimicked him again as both casted air bullets. Her enhanced perception thanks to the Sharingan alone allowing her to shoot her bullets too to collide with her techniques. Yanase wasn't familiar with the Sharingan's full effects so he didn't understand how Verdandi was able to time her counters so perfectly.
Annoyed by this he launched forward again. His sword cutting bluntly through the pillars behind Verdandi. Letting them crush down as rubble threatened to fall on her forcing her to roll aside where he'd kick her again. His fist coming down to hit her face, Verd intercepting his palm with slicing her blade against it and leaving an open wound on his hand. Only to be kicked again and once more tossed to the next wall. Verdandi spit blood. Not good. She saw him forming the hand seals for a technique unknown to her. The sharingan could make out that it was earth based but she couldn't copy it. So Verd had to get into defensive mode. When she saw that he just raised mud wolves from the ground she simply blasted a vacuum wave forward, letting it cut up the wolves to pieces. Yanase taking the hit of the vacuum to his own knee too, despite it only being a bruise as the major damage was aimed at the wolves. He was getting continuously angrier. Verdandi started to panic as she realised he was going for a lightning technique. Her defense's were the weakest against that element. She only had wind to counter it and quickly moved to form the gale palm attack. As his electric javelin arrow shot her way the wind would blast it aside. Verdandi panting. Exhausted from the massive chakra use in such short time. Seeing him come at her once more.
His blade coming down. Verd barely able to redirect its path. Almost cutting off her fingers in the process. Kicking into his knee to make him bend forward. Using his moment of weakness to exhale the Hyouton breath and force him to struggle breathing hard. Kicking further up his legs. Into his chest and onto his face. He'd catch her leg and toss her aside. Jumping after her and threatening to split her in two with his sword. Verd had to get rid of that weapon from him. It was too deadly. With all her might she rolled to the side. Poking her blade into his sword arm. Slicing it down to his palm to damage the nerves and kicking his wrist to send the weapon flying away. He was vulnerable. This was the moment. This was the very minute Verdandi had all the chances in the world. If she didn't finish him now it would be over. She could see he was trying to complete a fire technique. Despite his cut palm. He was slow forming the seals. Verdandi would make use of it. She quickly covered herself in ice armor. Slicing at his legs. Watching him exhale the large fire burst against her as her ice defense swallowed the technique. Verdandi cut down on his other arm. Disabling both. Kicking him back. Dropping her sword. Massively punching into his chest with an insane series of punches. Kicking into his thigh. His knee. Bending the knee. Lifting her own to meet his chin.
He was on the verge. He was about to lose. She had to finish it. She had to kill him now. Verdandi forced all her remaining chakra into a large spiralling ball. A thick dense Rasengan. The chakra flowing into her hand would leave Yanase to gaze at her as she launched for him. It was over. He fell. Fully down to his knees. His blood flowing from his cut open arms. His head lifting upwards to the ceiling. As if he made his peace. Saying his last prayer. His last goodbye. Verdandi didn't hesitate. Didn't flinch. No mercy. No last words. No last wishes. RASENGAN. Deeply shoved into his chest. The impact splits open his already damaged armor. Blasted it away. The Detonation sinking into his skin. The drilling motion would send him back flying to the wall behind. His internal organs shredded to pieces. He was dead. His corpse clinging to the wall behind him. Blood splatting down from his open wounds. It was over. It was finished. But so was Verdandi. She was out of energy. No more to hold her on her feet. She'd sink down. Pass out. Drifting off into the darkness of her exhaustion. Eventually for a moment she thought he might have gotten her with his flame burst. But it was just her exhaustion claiming her. She'd sleep. Rest. The detonation had brought Ozay back down into the cavern. Finding Verdandi where she was and Yanase dead. It was over.
Verdandi would wake. In her usual bad at Ozay's mansion. She was covered in bandages. A medic was standing next to her bad. Appointing ointment to her skin. Spreading it on the bruises on her shoulders. "You're looking terrible young miss." Ozay would say jokingly. Verdandi's face had taken a few bruises. She would laugh. Not good. Laughing hurts. Before she would eventually close her eyes and doze off again. Into a long long long slumber. A few day later. Verdandi had been nursed back to strength. A few bruises still telling the tale of her deeds. Ozay handed her Yanase's head. Verd could add it to her collection of bounties. The three heads of the Yusuke Clan. A gross way to cache in her reward. But that's how it worked anyhow. The Clan was extinct. Verdandi had taken care of that. No heir left to claim its ashes. No army left to command. No mansion left to possess. Ozay confirmed that demolition man blew up the place after they left. For the second time. And made sure they were no more hidden places added to the mansion. Verdandi would put her things together. In a moment of sentiment. She would see the Jade Figure she had stolen together with Yuan. On the pile of claims that Ozay's men had brought back from the depths of the inner mansion. She moved to it and picked it up. Adding it to her sentimental cache of belongings. She'd hug Ozay. Thank him for all his support.
"You better watch out. You're the new king of this whole place after all." She'd say. "Not yet. The Syndicate is still not one and far from being of one opinion. But I'll make sure it'll be one in benefit to our cause my friend. Fare well. Hopefully see you again well and alive. Come by whenever you feel like… going on holidays in Suna's capital…" he joked. Verd nodded. Packing all her things and moving out. The carriage would take her to the shore. The boarding her ship. Moving to the open ocean. Changing ships to a Kiri freighter. Then moving with it back to the Kiri Border Camps. It felt like years had passed since she was here last time. It was but a month. Verdandi would return to the Mission HQ. Her body still showing bruises. The Jounin taking the three heads of the Yusuke as proof of contract. He would give Verdandi the promised voucher she had been working for all along. "Recommendation for ANBU Entry." All that was left to do is drop this bad boy on aunt Aya's desk. She chuckled. Would auntie be proud of her niece's work. The HQ Jounin suggested Verd to see the med-nin at the medic ward. To get properly rid of her bruises. She nodded. Not a fan of the way it adorned her skin. But for a few moments she relished in having them. The bruises that showed what she went through for her loyalty to the mist.
