Clan History: The Unmei are a young clan. In the eyes of humanity, the Unmei are so much as unheard of, their existence usually restricted to a remote island of Kirigakure comically dubbed Spider Island. Not too far of the truth, for those that have visited the manor of the Osada family in the centre of the island certainly have seen and perhaps experienced hunt of the giant spiders that inhabit it.
To the short-lived arachnids, generations have come to pass where they saw the evolution of the Unmei start from mere little spiders into superior creatures able to emulate humanity while wielding the hunter's instinct as a weapon. Where humans have come to equalise divinity with the superhuman shinobi believing themselves to be omnipotent, the young clan perceives divinity in a different way. To them, divinity is achieving the ability to create and evolve a species much like their Creators have done before them.
The Spider Animal Sage who taught Sero his sage form is recognised as the brood-mother of the Clan, aptly named "Mama" or "Momma", embodying Life as thousands of spiderlings are spawned into existence on a yearly base. In return for having shared her power with Sero, she was allowed to reside on his island where her children would populate the area. Prolonged exposure to the senjutsu chakra of both Sero and Momma caused some of the spiderlings to grow into giant specimen, their size rivalling that of carts and wagons alike, but only one in every thousand would evolve beyond that still and become the Unmei.
These giant spiders distinguish themselves from their brethren through incredible intelligence, an enhanced sense of sentience and the manipulation of the chakra flowing into their system. Growing at a rapid rate, the Unmei are able to copulate at six months (like all arachnids), are full grown to monstrous size within nine months and master the ability to apply chakra-empowered arachnid abilities by the time they are about a year old. At that point, the Unmei is able to assume the form of a teenager and start their exploration of the human world. It is not unsurprising then that some of these Unmei join the ranks of the shinobi in order to gain even more power.

Kekkei Genkai Name: Spider Nature (クモ自然 - Kumo Shizen)
Kekkei Genkai Description: Basically, the KKG of the Unmei is being a spider in human disguise, turning natural hunters into the ideal infiltrators and assassins. To achieve this, the Unmei mostly retain the ability to make use of their arachnid abilities even when taking on the form of humans.
- Shapeshifting: The Unmei have access to two distinct forms. That of their natural spider form and that of the human form. Each form has their typical characteristics (see further). Unmei Shapeshifting appearances remain permanently in effect, can be done once per post, and cost 10 chakra each time they alter their form.
- Surface Crawlers: Spiders are known to climb any sort of surface by nature. This ability is preserved even when in human form, substituting the "Supernatural Walking Technique" in full and is free of cost at all times.
- Natural Venom: While spiders are divided in two large categories, namely venomous and weaving spiders, the Unmei have access to both arachnid abilities. The natural venom of the Unmei, mixed with the acidic nature of the chakra that shaped their existence, allows the Unmei access to venom-based Ninjutsu techniques as if they had Medical Ninjutsu specialisation. Such techniques are generally molded in their mouth and do not require hand seals to be executed. However, unless they take up Iryojutsu as a specialisation, certain limitations apply (see drawbacks).
- Web Weavers: While spiders are divided in two large categories, namely venomous and weaving spiders, the Unmei have access to both arachnid abilities. The web weaving abilities of an Unmei come as natural as their venoms. Such techniques are generally molded in their mouth or spinnerets and do not require hand seals to be executed.
- Shapeshift - Spider Form:
The types of spiders within the Unmei are many: wolf spiders, hunting spiders, house spiders, black widows... All of them are able to sport the spark of intelligence and evolution inherent to the Unmei, all of their spider forms hard to be missed. They are giants among their species, their size rivalling that of carts and even wagons.
In this form, the Unmei has no access to jutsu which require hand seals but retains the ability to use venom and web KKG techniques. They fit in perfectly on Spider Island, but might not do so in other regions without proper means.
- Shapeshift - Human Form:
Aside from the benefit to mingle with other humans in a relative save way, the Unmei lose most of their spider limbs in favour for the versatility solid hands offer them. In this form, the Unmei is able to use basic weaponry, wear armour and make use of jutsu properly.
Drawbacks:
- Genesis of Evolution: The essence of every animal is survival and the Unmei are no exception to this. Born as spiders, even after they have picked up the ability to shapeshift into a human form, the Unmei are left with little more than their natural weapons. An Unmei starts with Ninjutsu (Primary, S-rank) as only specialisation. They must learn all subsequent specialisations from scratch. Likewise, they start without any elemental natures and must equally pick those up from scratch.
- Hunter's Nature: So attuned to their natural form and arachnid nature, the Unmei are unable to fully hide what they truly are. Every Unmei must take a flaw that reveals their arachnid nature by either applying a negative SC or describing their monstrous nature both in their physical and mental description. Physical arachnid flaws could consist of extra set of eyes, mandibles, sharp fangs, black eyes... while mental descriptions could include instinctive reactions, apathy, arachnid superiority/human disdain, psychopathic nuances...
- Natural Venom: Unmei not picking up the Iryojutsu specialisation are limited in their use of natural venoms. Such KKG venom jutsu must be of the liquid sort. They do not have access to gaseous or solid forms. In addition, these liquid venoms can only be applied either by biting their victim or by spitting saliva - in all cases, injection or skin contact is required. Lastly, KKG venom techniques may not be higher than A-rank, and may only apply damaging and debuffing effects.
- Weapon Unfamiliarity: Every animal given hands will eventually learn to make use of tools. However, the unfamiliar nature of human weapons remains a characteristic flaw. Unmei gain no access to Weapon Masteries. In addition, opposing a weapon requiring a Weapon Mastery is done with a -1 tier to perception and reaction.
