Mission name: Operation: Watershed
Mission rank: A
Objective: Take the Dam
Location: Endless Wasteland
Reward: 1000 ryo + 4EP
Mission Description: “We have a plan to have the last laugh, this river is essential to not only us, but many of the bandit camps in this region. We’re sending you and 4 other ninja teams in an effort to take the dam that lays far inland. The dam is a massive structure that holds back a major river. From there not only could we stop water-flow between there and our base at will, but we would see to it the dam is rigged for destruction should we be unable to hold our position. Expect exceedingly high resistance”
Mission Details: There are 3 major objectives of this mission, but only 1 can be completed by any given team as they occur simultaneously.

  • -Confront the heart of the enemy force directly: Make entry into the dam and confront the plethora of B rank missing ninja and bandits occupying the base.
  • -Place Paperbombs: Taking a satchel of explosives, the ninja will split from the main force to work through the maintenance ways of the dam to place their explosives throughout the area, while there are less guards down here, they do exist, and the paths are narrow and extremely confined making combat difficult.
  • Take control of the control room: The control room of the base is where the water sluice controls are held, and is at the center of the base behind enemy lines. The ninja will have to infiltrate into hostile territory and eliminate any leadership found there

Each of the enemies in this mission have varying stats ranging within the B rank area as well as A rank bukijutsu, however the ninja there are also known to have ninjutsu, doton and futon also trained to B rank and know all library techniques of those ranks and lower. Their leaders however, of which there are 3, are A rank, with A-1 stats.

Mission is invite only

Their mission was fairly straightforward and yet, full of uncertainty as they pushed onto their location. A joint-strike with many squads while each of them were all devoted to their own tasks at hand, this squad that had hastily defended the encampment would be taking a more leveled approach to battle. Not facing an army on the spot but instead moving to the areas that Maigo himself excelled at. Infiltration and elimination. Their squad was tasked with taking over the control room that resided behind enemy lines while several other squads would engage them directly and even more would begin to place paper bombs and other explosives across the face of the dam when the time presented itself.

They would traverse nearly a kilometer from the river itself while traveling upstream towards the damn, feeling the bit of humidity from the water hitting the quickly rising sun. It was such a sparse sight in this country, naturally flowing water unlike in Kiri where every avenue would lead to a river or lake or something of that nature somewhere. It was like a small slice of their home cutting through the desert and almost made it symbolic that the Land of Water would be securing their waterways.

A few sparse trees would line the way they approached but Maigo would lead their squad far enough off the path that they wouldn't have to worry about guards or approaching scouts. Finding a lone tree that had somehow made root into the sand, Maigo would raise a hand and stop his squad underneath it to level out his thoughts. Crouching to one knee and waiting for the group to huddle around, Maigo would speak under his ANBU mask plainly while drawing a rectangle in the sand.

"Our objective is behind enemy lines, you should already know that." He would speak as he finished connecting the final corner of his square before using his pointer finger to continue on and draw the shape of the river zoomed out like a map within his square.

"Here is the dam," he would place a single line across his crudely drawn river near the center of the objective.

"What intel we have among the squad leaders suggests that the control room we're looking for is going to be just behind it here." he would draw an 'X' just behind the dam caddied off of it a short distance.

"In front of the dam on each side of the river, squads 1 through 4 will engage them directly in battle and try to draw their attention off the dam." he would take two fingers and draw lines away from the damn pointing outwards like whiskers growing off of the river.

"At the same time squads 5 and 6 will push up the river itself to plant their explosives and rig the entire structure how they want it set." he would draw a single arrow winding up the path of his river to just the face of the dam to make their representation of the map and giving the battlefield even more life.

"Our squad is going to take advantage of this and push around the entire building and strike from behind." He would press a dot into the sand for their symbol, then draw a wide arcing arrow from outside to flank the 'X' from the south of the map. Around the X he would draw a smaller box to represent the entire compound.

"We'll move just outside their range then strike from behind while they're distracted. They should be on full alert but with any luck, they won't notice us coming until it's too late." Maigo would press the arrow representing themselves fully on top of the X and almost scratching it away with the point of the arrow. "Let's avoid any flashy displays like last time," he would glance towards Verdandi subtly as his mind ran back to the instance of collapsing a sand dune on the army. Though a good tactic, he wasn't especially sure that any of this squad was especially suited towards stealth outside Haka who he had reserves about the fun she would have hunting.

With a final release of his hand from the sand in front of him, Maigo would lean back on the balls of his feet while remaining crouched. "Any questions or ideas?" he would leave off to each of them as he waited for whatever reply would come along. If there was nothing or once it was all taken care of, he would take a hand and wipe away the map he had drawn and leave the skewed print of his hand in the wake before turning off from the river and leading the squad along the designated path.

A massive operation requiring seven squads, divided over three main objectives. It wasn't every day one got to be part of such an attack or even see it happening. Following Maigo's crude design, his finger adding details with every new step he explained, Haka quietly approved of the notion Ahoban would take on the stealthy part of the mission and felt even more appeased when he emphasised the lack of anything flashy. Those sort of strategies were right up her alley. When Maigo finished his explanation and requested for questions and ideas, Haka's mind would race through the options she had left. If the three Ahoban, she was easily the most stealthy member, having lead or assisted the team on those sections several times before in the past.

Quietus had proven a useful asset to muffle all sound in the vicinity, but its short range had grown increasingly harder to be put to good use as the difficulty of the missions provided to them rose. This time, Quietus sounded like a great option to silence the killing blows and screams of their opponent considering the control room indicated a close quarter approach and a limited range where Quietus' true power would come to reveal itself - the technique, though low on the jutsu category, had always been intended for indoor assassinations. But Quietus offered little on terms of team assistance unless she stretched its use to the impossible. Considering the desert landscape they found themselves in, the team would need a technique to hide themselves from sight. The spider-nin had such a technique for her own benefit, and had been working towards means to cloak others of the team with it but the technique remained unfinished. There was the option of using good ol' trusted Kirigakure no jutsu all together, creating a mist so insanely large searching would almost be impossible without proper sensory but even that technique was slowly losing its effect the more the Ahoban came to deal with well-trained shinobi. Shifting her glance to Verdandi and Chigetsu as if to pry loose their knowledge of techniques with a glance, the spider-nin concluded that Verdandi had her shadow technique which would allow her to travel along with someone's shadow, but she had not heard Chigetsu speak or use any sort of proper stealth before. And this time, it didn't look like they'd have much in terms of corpses for him to hide in.

"I remain unseen to all but the most perceptive and can cloak a 4m radius in complete silence to deaden the screams of our targets. My stealth technique doesn't throw any shadows, so Verdandi's Silhouette Technique can't use me as a host. To deliver swift death, my shodō mahō can boost our strikes or deny chakra use in an area, whichever you prefer."

With those words, Haka would throw in her offer on the matter. Her shodō mahō was versatile and strong in close quarters, and certainly ideal to provide a small group such as theirs some additional power but equally limited in use because of its shorter range. Having worked regularly along the side of Chigetsu and Verdandi had shaped her jutsu to such a form, feeling the lack of proper ranged techniques to complement her Summoning more and more by the day. The spider would have to fix that eventually but time was rather of the short sort at this moment since she was mostly in Sunagakure in preparation of the crusade she was about to execute on Spider Island.

The atmosphere now was much more preferable to the male. The natural humidity in the air flowed down into his lungs and allowed him a deep breath that didn't coat his lungs with pinching dryness. Even with the great distance still between him and the water he could feel it. This was the mission he was born and intended for. While perhaps it wasn't the closest to their natural environment, a cadre of Hozuki put to work in these rivers would have had them secured before you could say 'I hate Suna'. That was his own gloating though over his ability. Huddled around with his squad now he would keep his mind clear from external thoughts like that and focus entirely on what would come. Four objectives. Seven squads. That was a total of twenty-eight shinobi at minimum. Securing this river must have been of extreme importance to dedicate these resources to it, and yet at the same time the fact that it occurred so late into the invasion into Sunagakure was odd. Shouldn't have securing the waterways been the first thing that Kirigakure did? It would have been completely necessary for an invasion that was taking place by sea, and would give them absolute control over the nation by strangling its water supply. Whatever the reason had been that this river remained uncontrolled by Kirigakure up until this point, it would soon be under the ironclad grip of the Mist.

The part of the mission they took on would similarly be a relief. While he certainly didn't dislike direct combat, reveling in its simplicity in times, he had just about had his fill of intense physical activity under the bearing heat of the sun. Slipping indoors in secret, where there would perhaps be air conditioning, would be a much-preferred option. Although stealth wasn't exactly his forte at the moment, it was an area he was finding himself needing to improve out of necessity just from the sheer amount of times it became necessary. It wouldn't be forever that he could rely on Haka to carry him through these missions.

"When the ground is as loose as the sand is I can liquify and slip through it to travel underground. If I'm right there should be an aquifer I should be able to slip through if we're this close to the river, even if it might be a bit deep. The only problem is that I would have to surface every so often to keep track of where I am. " It wasn't exactly the best way to travel, effectively blind while traveling through porous rock. This only gave inspiration on how exactly he should work to improve himself. Some sort of sensory that allowed him the ability to take advantage of aquifers as a natural highway. "If I'm lucky, I could crawl up under the foundation of the building itself and try to slip in through the bricks."

"Splitting up might not be the best idea though. If we want to stay together, I could drench another who has a stealth technique and attach myself to their body." He would turn, glancing towards Haka now. It wasn't exactly a 'collaboration technique', but attaching himself to her as a sort of living backpack with prehensile limbs to assist in combat would be an interesting option.

Verdandi scratched her head. Usually it was her job to do the tactics. She was certainly unused to work under supervision and was still amazed by the fact that Chi and Haka coped so well with their new Squad Leader. Be it temporary or not, she had never seen them actually follow anyone's orders and to be fair, neither did Verd much so far. Despite being all created and bon in the almighty Gin's shadow, there was a reason why they were called Ahoban. They were the misfits. The ones that generally failed at following their superior's commands. However, they were also the one that usually could complete the tasks that often-required whole teams alone. Their insane talents stood in direct contrast with their absolute inability to work together or under leadership. Gin had adopted the three misfits because she saw a potential in their raw strength. Verd must have completely missed the point where this team of weirdos and little monsters had actually managed to start working together and even follow after the supervision of an elder, more experienced shinobi. Verd watched her Squad mates discuss their potential tactics seriously without swearing that they would kill each other or show them their tentacles. Verdandi was taken back by this for a moment. But she would snap out of it eventually. A blush forming on her cheeks as Maigo sort of found the need to comment on her move to bury their enemies beneath their own natural forces. Pouting a bit as she was certain that it had been a very efficient way to deal with the nasty number of enemies.

Verdandi watched Maigo draw into the sand. The chess field instantly raised in her mind. Many pieces were at large. With so many squads it wasn't possible to keep a clear view over all in question. She disliked that. But Maigo would probably have intel about it over radio with the other squad leaders. Verdandi scratched her head again. She figured that Maigo would have his own stealth technique. Verd could move into anyone shadow as soon as required. Haka had a real stealth technique and Chi… was water. Near a dam. Where catching water is the thing they do. Verdandi shortly interrupted the discussion of her team mates. She would raise he voice with hesitation. She wasn't the shy type at all but the three of them suddenly looking at her still left her a bit shivery. "I… I can make it rain. Its like making it snow… just without wind and when it rains. There will be me a lot of water piling up. Chi can literally just move in his liquid form along the floor and no one would see him as more than a puddle of rain water…" Verd added. It would help them moving towards the operation centre. However, inside the building it would be hard for Chi. "We don't all have to infiltrate the building. Haka and Maigo can go inside. Me and Chi would be better suited to guard the entrance, remove targets nearby in a stealthy way and make sure your return path remains clear."

Verd was aware that, despite all the teamwork she thought about earlier, she was suggesting splitting up. But then again, she didn't see a reason to add liability to the infiltration team when Maigo and Haka would make a far better assassination combo. Chigetsu in the rain outside would be perfectly disguised at all times and Verdandi could easily move between him protecting the entrance and the first levels into the operation facility. After all. The missions goal was to secure the plant completely. Every enemy in this whole area will require to be taken out. Infiltration was only required to make sure that they didn't sound the alarm before it was already way too late for them. Which was another thought that raised in Verdandi's head. "If one of us were to find the auxiliary electric control, we could shut off the alarm while you guys actually intrude further into the operations centre. It could come to our advantage to have the alarm shut off when someone tries to… well.. press the button." Verd glared at her team. Not sure if their faces agreed or not. However, they would move out and Verd would probably start to meld the chakra within her. Verdandi's effective range to make it rain would be around 40 meters in radius. Enough to cover the whole operation centre a good area surrounding it. The entrance was just a small dome, most likely the actual central machinery was build much deeper into the ground like some sort of cave probably.

Maigo flickered around between their commentary, watching the situation unfold in their mind as he took a small back seat to the discussion. Truthfully, he assumed leadership because of his rank and really nothing more while this squad continued to display bits of prowess within. A smirk would cross his face as Verdandi would finish speaking, his golden colored eyes would nod and chime in after before turning towards Haka.

"If you can kill in four meters," He would look sternly towards her, looking for some quick affirmation before he would turn back towards Chi and Verdandi as a pair.

"And you two can remain hidden while clearing the perimeter and keeping that button from getting pressed," he would wait for a quick affirmation again from the both of them before continuing on.

"Then that's the plan we'll follow."

Maigo would finish off before scattering his map as intended and standing to his full height and waiting for them to join them before leading them on a quick trip through the desert around to the flank of their targeted building.

The squadron would descend as stealthfully as they could and as quietly as Maigo could lead them to be upon the crest of the dam's boundary. A simple metal fence guarded the perimeter as Maigo crouched down behind a small dune some 20 meters or so away. With a final turn towards the squad, he would take their measure before reaching under his cloak to the pouch at his side and pulling out his mask, fastening it to his face cleanly and then bringing out his shoge, attached to its ring weight by a unique razor wire all the same.

With a silent nod, Maigo would hold the Shoge and ring with its coiled wire all together in his left hand while grabbing two more kunai into his right. Grabbing Haka's attention and motioning to the left, he would take the infiltration portion of their squad to the left, over the fence and past the dunes further behind the structure.

The dam itself was simple, all sound seemed eclipsed slightly in part by the slow trickling of water at its base to the bottom of the ravine below and further beyond that by the winds that constantly blew within the Land of Wind. The dam itself was like a great stone wall that had a walkway and scaffolding across it, several men moving about and across its height. Probably engineers and maybe a guard or two to hold it. The troublesome portion was the facility itself that sat caddied off to the side and connected to the wall itself. It was a dull grey building as so many strategic locations were but beyond that, it seemed more outfitted for its defense. Several shoddy outposts were created throughout it and old metal walkways were manned throughout.

On top of different high points at the two forward corners overlooking the dam itself and the area beyond it were high towers to serve as lookout points. Maigo's eyes would trace over them as he would spin his sharingan to life and find the chakra within. Two people at each of the structures and burning masses of chakra scattered throughout the facility. The great building itself seemed to have two full stories with who knows treasured within and on top of it all, in the much smaller third floor were visible windows and most likely the control room they were looking for.

Maigo would activate his Silent Killing technique, leaving that menacing chakra and feeling of killing intent flowing through the air as he reached the first wall of the base. Just ahead of them was a metal stairway leading up to the second floor and two guards chatting away on it, each of them commenting about a queasy feeling that had taken on them. Maigo would stay crouched and just from peeking the corner as he would look to Haka and motion forward, leaving the first kill as a test to see her own stealth jutsu at work.

Killing within four meters. Depending the perception of the opponent, that would either be a challenge or a breeze. Not jumping to conclusions just yet, the spider would deal with it when the moment was there. She had been given her task, one that fit her just fine, while the others would be clearing the perimeter to prevent detection and escalation. As Maigo scattered the map, Haka would run a hand through her hair, closing her eyes just for a brief moment as her mind formulated the plan of her approach. If things had to go fast, with short range and while possibly dealing with multiple opponents there would be few means for her to tackle that obstacle.

As the team moved forward and the fence that formed the dam's boundary came into sight, Haka started a series of hand seals one after another to activate her personal techniques. First, chakra would flow around her limbs and create an additional pair of arms, razor sharp claws revealing the danger they held, the visibility of the whole technique almost nil were it not for the density of the chakra itself. Adding even more chakra to that, the chakra arms would go limb and stretch out as they gained reach. The technique not unfamiliar to Ahoban, the question remained how far exactly Haka's threat range now stretched. Next, the area would cloak in silence as Fuinjutsu scribbles would appear around her throat. Then when all of this was done, the last hand seals would disperse the whole of Haka into a lingering mist. While it was doubtful her own squad members would now be able to perceive her, the same could not be said about Maigo's trained eyes or that whirling eye ability he had going for him.

Being beckoned to move to the left side of the whole area, she would follow Maigo to move behind the dunes. Hopping over the fence like a feather, the perceptive would see a humanoid mist move up and down and over the fence, not the slightest of traces to be found in the sand, nor sound to be heard. The lingering mist would follow Maigo further behind the dunes and observe the area that revealed itself to them, her eyes taking note of the moving figures in the distance and the watch towers serving as the tactical points of higher ground. Height was never a problem for a spider but unless she succeeded at getting her kills dragged inside the buildings and under the cover of walls and roofs alike, the alarm would be raised quickly.

Maigo would continue his advance and activate a slightly familiar technique he had used before. She remembered that one. Much like her own monstrous aura, his technique suffocated an area with his killing intent and left others guessing from where it originated. To think that this man, previously rather skittish about her love for hunting would be using something so familiar as a disguise was rather amusing in its irony. He'd move closer to the first wall and hint that she was to take out the first two guards stationed on the metal stairway. Nodding, Haka would move forward. Reaching his position, she'd continue her advance by running up the wall without any effort, her arachnid nature not even sensing an obstacle in its escalation, and take peek at the window above to see if other guards were on watch. There were none. Crawling over the window, on the sides of the outpost and ending five meters above the guards, a single moment would be taken to acknowledge the presence of two guards.

While the casual banter of the guards outside went about a queasy feeling at first, it had now turned into the acknowledgement of a strange sensation that made the hairs on their skin rise up, the monstrous aura of the nearby huntress driving them for a moment into insecurity. Sweaty palms would grip weapons, eyes trying to find the origin of this uncomfortable distress. One guard would step inside the room, breaking conversation to inspect if nothing had changed within the room, the other focused on the outer regions. At that point, Haka slipped inside the room, crawled further until she was right above the first guard. Her chakra arms choked the life out of him and kept him upright at the same time, ending his life without much more. As she dropped down from the ceiling, she'd briefly check if no one was peeking inside through the windows before she'd move him against the wall. She'd hear the dead man's companion call out all was fine, and hear his boots betray his approach. As he stepped inside, his eyes would rest on his 'resting' companion, mind not registering right away what he perceived - and it would never do so either - before he'd find his life strangled out of him, wind pipe shattered, just as swiftly as that of his friend.

After having moved the second body next to the first, Haka would appear before the window to take note if the field of vision and the dead angles. Then, she'd return to Maigo to sign him the first guards were out.

Remain hidden while clearing out the perimeter and keep the button from getting pressed. That was his goal. As it was dictated down to him by Maigo he would nod his head, eager to show his worth. It wouldn’t be difficult together with their skills. While it was true that he struggled somewhat was traditional stealth techniques Verdandi’s offer to make it rain would completely solve that problem. A puddle moving through the rain would be near invisible. It felt satisfying to know they were able to work together so well, that weaknesses could be covered easily. Although, these were his weaknesses. Allowing himself to be a burden that needed support from his squad felt uncomfortable, even though he knew how necessary it would be at times. It just meant he would have to make sure to perform his best, and support the others whenever he could. There were unique talents that he had as well that he alone could support Haka and Verdandi with.

His descent would be kept silent by the pitter-patter of rain. The storm had rolled in shortly after their conversation, thanks Verdandi’s talent. Through it moving became effortless. He was able to keep down low to the ground, sliding across the sand as a slight puddle. Being only perhaps an inch tall as he spread his body out like this, it would have been nearly impossible to notice him without some other form of sensory. This sort of movement was pleasant and without any difficulty, and being so immersed in the cleansing rain took away the fatigue that came with being in this country. He had forgotten that Verdandi could do this. A bit of rainfall coming down over them in their missions would have been incredibly pleasant, and now he wondered why she didn’t always do this. Of course, he knew the answer. Rain would give away their position if not used correctly, it was a drain of chakra, blah blah blah. Really, wasn’t a little bit of comfort worth it though?

Verdandi would presumably follow behind, although with what means he did not know. The technique that allowed her to hide within shadows was known to him, but the shadow that he cast while in this tiny puddle was miniscule if it even existed at all. He didn’t have a doubt in his mind that she would be able to find a way to sneak up with him, but at the same time he was curious. Perhaps he could learn from her. It wouldn’t be that he could always rely on his squad mates helping him out. There would come a time when he would be separated from them and would have to fend for himself. If that could be made easier by watching and mimicking their abilities, then it would be what he would have to do.

The rain left the ground pleasantly saturated with water, giving Chigetsu options for how to proceed. The base’s entrance was covered by a posse of Sand Shinobi, all appearing disgruntled by the rain. He could only imagine the discomfort he felt in the desert heat was held in reverse by natives of the land, and the sudden rainfall and humidity at least made them somewhat uncomfortable. They were notable for the gear they were decked in as well. They all wore what appeared to be matching heavy Sunagakure flak jackets, along with uniform head wrappings. Just from a glance it was clear they were a step above the common rabble and bandits that were commonly seen throughout these deserts. Perhaps they hailed from the remnants of the Suna military before its collapse. The armaments they possessed in addition to their uniform armor caused Chigetsu to pause, taking a moment to admire them as true soldiers among this mess of bandits.

A pair of eyes would pop up from the puddle of Chigetsu, looking up from the sounds. He would shoot a glance at Verdandi, signaling with his eyes over to the two men guarding the entrance. Establishing some form of plan, even if it would be unspoken, would be necessary before proceeding.

Verdandi's visible eye kept occasionally glowing in a hue of blue as her suiton chakra remained actively surging from her pool. She could see Chi's utter excitement as she summoned the storm for him but also his questioning gaze as to why she didn't do it more often. Verd didn't have the heart to explain to him that she disliked rain and preferred to have it snow. Only ever not using the snow storm technique because she knew he yet was still very vulnerable within contact with her Hyouton element. But seeing his face glance like that, especially at the usual noises of stormy thunder in the air. Would leave Verdandi to eventually reconsider her feelings towards the rain. Chuckling as he was beaming like a child. Making Verd blush as to his cuteness. Chi casually blobbed away into the distance. The two stealthy guys moving away to go their own way. Probably not going for the front entrance. The alarm however was at the front gate. So, if Verdandi wanted to see her plan to unfold as she suggested. They would have to take the front gates. While Chi's shadow didn't seem to be of appropriate size for her to mesh into. Verdandi had already thought of that beforehand. While the sun was beaming mercilessly above them. Dandi now had utter and full control over a massive set of rather large and thick dark clouds. It wouldn't go without a certain amount of joy as she thickened them further and watched them compress in the centre.

The result of her motion to the clouds. Was a nice large sphere of utter darkness. Shielding Verdandi's path with a shadow she could easily hide in. While she was already training and working on her own stealth technique. The silhouette tech was still her old-time favourite. She ought as well that she felt comfier with Chi next to her rather than Maigo. She was yet unsure what he would think of her if he saw what was hiding beneath Verdandi's prominent eye patch. He had seen her blind eye before. What would he think if he suddenly recognized it was far from blind now? The transplant was still new. The eye wasn't ready to be used at this point yet. Verd had decided to keep it hidden for now. No one was suspecting anything as of yet. She also wondered how she would end up explaining her new addition to her skill set. "Hey guys… Oh look what I found around the corner. A new eye!" She wasn't even sure if they knew that the monster-spiders attack on her face had been driving her blinding worse and worse since back then. Verd would keep her mouth shut. There was a time for everything. Even revealing a new sensory power to the Squad would have its time. Considering it could only supply them with further means to become a deadly weapon as a unit whole. Verd would smile for a moment. Maybe she worried too much about it.

A little puddle of water moved past the sandy ground. The black cloud following it. Since Verd was thickening and concentrating the clouds on that dark spot for her to move in. It also made the rain fall a bit heavier there. Making Chi even more immersed into the scenery as he seemed to be but the puddle created by the heavy storm above them. Once the two of them came close. Verd would gaze at her puddly friend and at the enemies before them. She could feel that more were nearby. So if they wanted to do an attack it'd have to go down quickly. Verdandi saw Chi hesitating and eventually motioning some puddle movements to her. Verdandi would reply in a most uncommon way. Chi might notice it himself or not. Apparently if he didn't notice it himself, the guards certainly did and would speak it out aloud for him. "Hey, do you see that? This cloud looks like a palm forming an O.K. sign. Haha that’s crazy!" Verdandi was certainly making good use of her clouds. Once she had notified Chi that she was ready to go. Verd didn't wait to formulate her whole plan to him. She was most likely invisible to him anyway. But in her shadow. Verd would be forming a multitude of suiton hand seals. Which soon would result in a large body of water to be created. Verdandi had formed the archerfish technique. But instead of just randomly planting it. She pushed the suiton chakra straight into Chi's puddle body.

As his puddly body would forcefully start to become larger and larger. The guards would eventually take notice of the unnaturally forming body of water. But Verdandi wasn't finished. Her final hand seals were to create the wild water wave technique. Creating even more suiton, she pushed the water into the already huge body of Chi and literally sent Chigetsu to float forward as an incredibly dangerous wave towards the two guards in question. To whomever would have seen this spectacle from afar, it would merely seem like a larger body of tsunami raised water had clashed against them. But close up as the guards were themselves. They certainly knew something was amiss. But they wouldn't get the time to contemplate about it. As Chi would certainly enjoy his targets once they were trapped within his temporarily enlarged belly.

Maigo

Maigo

D-rank

Maigo set up his position outside and let Haka get to work, quickly activating several techniques and dispatching of the guards outside almost immediately. Watching the details and perimeter of her attack for any gaps or loose ends that might intrude, he found nothing but his sharingan took in the details of her attack and the pragmatism behind each move. It was truly fearsome to watch someone who at their core, were enabled to become a hunter and very much with the skillset to excel in it. With a quick shake of his head and watching his comrade finish through it, he would continue to make notes and scanning the perimeter.

Giving Haka a moment to finish cleaning up, Maigo would prepare himself more fully, brandishing his Shoge with the ring weight opposite in his left hand and pointing the tip downwards in his palm as Haka returned towards him. With a final nod, Maigo would offer a simple, "Good work," before stepping forward and ascending the metal staircase up to the first floor. Paying no mind to the bodies as he pressed the bottom of his palm into the door and let the knife lead the way as he pushed himself inside. The hallways were simple, plain and without marks but painted in simple and dull colors like so many walls were. The hallway split into two with a set of bathrooms in front of them and down the longer hallway was set with a few lockers on one side and a door across from that. Further beyond that there was another door and the hallway turned sharply right to reveal another staircase.

Edging his way forward and leaving his hand lingering on the door to let Haka through as silently as he was. Knife held in front of him with the blade pointed outwards, he set his left shoulder to the wall and began to peek into the door to the left across from the lockers. Within there were three people sat still in a waiting room and chatting away, wasting time in some common break room, they all seemed mostly harmless but two of them were armed and waiting. He knew it would be best to take care of them and end it quietly.

Outside at the base of the dam the rest of Kiri's forces would begin to engage, certain calls made over radios as the men inside began to stand and gather their things. Maigo would look towards Haka and motion her past the door to head down and cover the other room and the end of the hallway/staircase for more enemies. Maigo would turn the corner quickly as they began to head toward the door in a bit of a rush. Shock would strike their faces as Maigo would catch the first one and tear the knife across his chest and stomach. A gulped shout in pain would come as the knife would be ripped out and blood would splatter out. The man had hardly enough time to reach down towards his belt and grab his own weapon before he was completely split open.

The next man behind him would begin to brandish his weapon and the final of the trio began to reach for his radio. Maigo's sharingan would spin to life watching the movements of each of them, turning his shoge and throwing it out into the final man's shoulder and separating the wire that held the radio to his shoulder. Spurts of blood and a groan as the man leaned back in pain and pressed the button to call for help to no avail. Maigo sat down in his stance and pulled on the razer wire that held his Shoge to rip it out of his shoulder and reapt his approach.

The second of the guards pulled out a short sword that ended up slightly longer than a tanto as he turned it and flicked the blade towards Maigo who leaned his left shoulder back and avoided the first of the strikes. With the shoge returning to his hand he pulled a step back and leaned forward to strike with his shoge, the man returning the blow and stabbing forward, striking into Maigo's shoulder in a sudden attempt to hold him back. Little did he know of the ferocity of Kiri's Uchiha as he would let the blade plunge almost a full inch into his shoulder as he swung with his shoge to take a chunk from the man's next. Gulping and gurgling, Maigo would grab hold of the blade with his ring weight hand after and pull it out, letting the blood spill from his shoulder and then squatting down to cleave the final guards heel as he tried to run past and away.

A move of desperation as he fell to the ground, reaching out to the hallway, grasping for his freedom and trying to crawl forward. Maigo quickly reached down and pulled the man back in before plunging his Shoge into the side of the mans neck and turning it back to tear the flesh away. The blood spilled out and more gurgled from him as Maigo turned the blade down and flicked the blood from the edge. The gruesome scene left behind, Maigo would take a quick second on each of the remaining two to guarantee that their lives had ended before reemerging in the hallway, keeping his attention towards Haka and whatever she had been able to cover in his time gone.

When the first floor was clear, Maigo would step cautiously up the stairs and begin to scope out whatever scene was above them if Haka hadn't already. And if she had, he would follow along behind her waiting for whatever signals would emerge to continue on with their mission.

Haka Osada

Haka Osada

Retired
Haka would nod as he complimented her for a job well done and follow Maigo down the hallways. Spartan hallways, in dull colours. Nothing too fancy, mostly intended to do their job: lead people to and fro one room to another. Haka paid not much attention to its colours and length, her eyes more interested in figuring out possible genjutsu or traps hidden within the walls. Trigger mechanics, fuinjutsu seals. That sort of thing. Finding none by the time Maigo had reached the end of the hall, she would notice him take a look at her, the muffled sound of radio speech and movement caught at the other side of the door. At least two people. That, she could tell, but numbering them more precisely would not be in order from the distance she stood. Maigo would probably be fine dealing with them on his own.

In fact, he motioned her to continue down the stairs and take care of the lower section. Wordless she'd move on, mist moving through the hallway and past Maigo. By the time she had reached the end, he would have entered the room to deal with his self-allocated targets. The door sealing off the room at the end of the staircase would open abruptly, one man pretty much stepping through Haka's mist form and spontaneously being shred to pieces as a result as her chakra arms ripped clean through him. Blood would spurt out, colouring the generally unnoticeable mist figure a brief red and revealing its presence. The man behind the victim was so shocked by the sudden, what seemed to have been random, death of the man he had considered his ally that he screamed in terror rather than to react. His scream would not be heard as Quietus denied the existence of its sound, and by the time the man had realised what it meant, his throat would be ripped out without the slightest of remorse by another one of Haka's chakra arms. The two would gurgle to their deaths almost at the same time, the multi-tasking assassin finding no trouble in splitting her attention and coordination among those who fell and those who would fall.

Without a sound they'd hit the floor, fresh blood colouring ground and walls a rich crimson. The spray that had briefly betrayed the wraith's presence was gone, the sanguine pool not betraying her as mist would not reveal her footsteps. It didn't matter. Some had seen the air itself budge as it slew the men. No words were needed to alarm the remaining troops that sat downstairs. The room revealed itself to be some bunk for the reserves. Beds were neatly set in rows, large numbers arranging them in order of division. Men and women would stand, not all of them bearing headbands. Shuriken and senbon would be thrown at the entrance, the metal digging into the wooden door frame or clattering against solid metal and stone. None would affect the mist wraith, the objects simply too small to impact the mass of suiton chakra. As if she wasn't even there. But no sound would resonate either, the only sign revealing something was still lingering at the entrance. There would be a moment of quietude. Anticipation. No one truly knowing what was to come or what needed to be done.

Inexperienced cannon fodder had marked their own death sentence by hesitating like this.

Just a second before the climax of silence would be broken, Haka send forward her four chakra arms to rip through the masses before her as she dashed forward. Fifty meter reach, the room would simply be too small to grant an escape. Thirty five meters a second, the nigh invisible arms too difficult to spot for the untrained eyes of genin and chuunin to react properly. As the wraith danced through the room, the shinobi would be torn to pieces by the apathetic spider dutifully executing them. One by one at seemingly random positions would find death. Their blood would spray over the walls, soak the beds, splatter the ceiling and eventually drench the floor. And not one sound would be heard as every kill occurred within Haka's sound absorbing seal. A dance macabre without witnesses.

Having reached the end of the room, Haka would turn around and watch her crimson artistry. One thought surfacing in the otherwise stoic expression. Was this worth the label of Art? The dead would not answer and so the spider-nin returned to meet up with Maigo, who had dealt with his room way before she had finished hers. By the time she had returned, she caught the glimpse of him walking up the stairs and thus followed suit. Her quiet return hinting at no sign of trouble, the lack of sound as she had dealt with her part of the duty. Maigo would know. Either there had been nothing down there to begin with, or there was nothing left to talk about any longer.

Chigetsu Hōzuki

Chigetsu Hōzuki

Dead
Their choice of stealth almost made him laugh. A puddle and a black storm cloud. Not suspicious at all. Yes, this would be a masterful stealth mission where they used their strengths of water and storm manipulation to sneak into the desert compound. There was no possible way this could go wrong. Of course they were all suited to maneuvering in their native environment in Kirigakure no Sato, so the sands of Sunagakure weren’t nearly as easy for them to sneak through, but looking over their plan it seemed utterly ridiculous right now. It was raining incredibly hard now, and they were near a river, but at the same time… There was no way that they would fall for this, right? The people guiding this base would have to see through it. They should be suspicious of the rain in general. There was no way that rain happened commonly enough in this area of Suna that the torrential downpour would go unnoticed. Not to mention if anyone had activated any sort of chakra based sensory they would be able to see it in the rain, giving away Kirigakure’s position. No other nation would be so blatant with their advancement with Suiton based ninjutsu. He was dreading this plan as soon as he realized how silly it was. There was no way this would succeed. He was dreading in his heart the moment they would get caught and everything would progress into messy combat. Still, he wouldn’t complain. At this point they had no better options. Together with his little storm cloud he would set off to their destination.

At the very least the puddle that he was sliming across the ground as was fairly hidden. His approach together with Verdandi seemed less obvious once they actually got going, and a bit of his anxiety dropped. The density of the clouds and rain almost gave him some hope. It was part of was he signaled over to Verdandi as he did, staring up at her with his strange eyeballs. They wouldn’t have long to establish a plan, and doing on non-verbally would be difficult, but it would likely be necessary. Perhaps they could strike quickly and take out this man. He was prepared to move forward, but the response that he got from her and the reaction that the guards gave to it made him freeze in place.

“Hey, do you see that? This cloud looks like a palm forming an O.K. sign. Haha, that’s crazy!”

He felt as if his blood was running cold, only to switch from fear to extreme confusion. The reaction… It hadn’t been what he expected. They had seen the hand sign that Verdanid had made but didn’t… They didn’t realize? He was dumbstruck for a moment by how utterly stupid these men were. He almost couldn’t believe it. Was this a trained shinobi, or just a man dressed up like one? It could only be assumed at this point that this man was either a complete novice or invalid, or had recently taken some sort of serious head injury.

He didn’t have a long time to think about how dumb these bandits must have been. And that was a good thing, as he could have probably wondered about it for hours. Verdandi stopped him before he got too far into his own head by carrying out the unspoken plan they were supposed to be starting. The Suiton chakra that Verdandi began filling with him was something that snapped him out of those thoughts immediately. It was hard not to notice as it was injected into his body and filled him. He would suddenly and against his own will expand massively, growing from the tiny puddle that he had been into a massive flood that swept across the land. The guard who had noticed the hand sign that Verdandi made would quickly step backwards in fear as he noticed what was coming towards him, almost as surprised as Chigetsu. Quickly he would sweep over into the man, but Verdandi wasn’t finished. The presence of another jutsu she casted turned him nearly into a tsunami. The two guards didn’t stand a chance. With the brute force of the massive amount of water and chakra slamming into them they would both be swept up without being able to so much as scream for help. In a second’s notice they were both slammed against the front of the building they had previously been guarding with an incredible force.

For as stupid as these guards were it seemed that they were at least relatively strong. Immediately Chigetsu could tell that they hadn’t been killed or even knocked unconscious by that blow. The manner in which they struggled under his body even after the impact was clear enough. He could feel them struggle and squirming, trying to get a hold of something to gain some sort of bearing on their situation. Under his watery form he could make out all of their little movements as they struggled. Including the hand signs one of them made. The swampy flooded ground below would transform quickly and suddenly into a dragon, and from its mouth several cannonball of mud would be fired up through the water that was sitting on them. They were panicking. The balls of mud flew through Chigetsu easily, piercing through his body and coming up through the wave into the clear air. They would all probably drop somewhere off in the distance as slimy balls of gooey soaked mud. It wasn’t something Chigetsu really concerned himself with. Their confusion and panic made sense though. The water that had flooded on them should have dispersed by now, but Chigetsu was using his control over it to keep it sitting directly on them. Little currents would be made to continuously sweep them off their feet and prevent them from attempting to swim to the surface. Eventually they would drown, but that would take much too long. Plus, there was no need for him to risk them having some sort of Katon or Raiton jutsu hidden away. Raiton might have been unlikely but shinobi here possessing Katon wasn’t too much of a stretch. Of course using Katon in response to a massive amount of water generally isn’t the best idea normally, when you were dealing with a Hozuki it was much more effective than a barrage of Doton jutsu. He would form hand signs of his own. Fingers and thumbs formed out of the water that he had turned into, hidden away deep within his tsunami form. In a moment a stream of tentacles would push down into them, nearly invisible from being made of the same water they were currently surrounded in. Sweeping around their necks as they were pushed around by the currents, each would be cracked. He would be left with two corpses, nearly unharmed with the exception of where he had snapped their necks.

Once he had disposed of the two men the tsunami that was Chigetsu would quickly disperse, seeping down into the ground around them. The water would surely travel to the nearby river in time. The goo blob Chigetsu would quickly turn into a person Chigetsu once again, no longer needing to hide himself away now that the guards were taken care of. His left hand had been transformed into eight tentacles, which remained so after he turned back into a human. With a turn, he would stare over to the little stormcloud that had accompanied him. The two bodies were disposed quickly after, thrown into the swamped sands.

“I can’t believe that worked… At least warn me first next time before you do that, okay?”

Verdandi

Verdandi

D-rank
Verdandi watched the calamity that was Chigetsu unfold before her eyes. Scratching her neck, invisible, flat or not, in embarrassment creeping up her silhouette as the whole situation worked out quite nicely even though somewhat improvised. The guards had been washed away, caught and properly broken by the Chi blob. However, many more guards would be on patrol around the corner. A few of them less simple minded and certainly curious about the strange rain that seemed to just specifically pour onto a certain area. Verd realized that the thickness of the clouds had reduced its range and given a too specific target as to where the rain was concentrated. Now that she didn't need it anymore, the clouds would raise again properly to the heavens and spread out. The rain would remain but the density would lower and the whole effect would once again look more natural and less man-made. Giving scouts that checked on it from afar nothing to worry about. The few guards whom had already seen, either the strangely shaped cloud or the thick ones, were directly on their way to Chi and Verd and would soon give them plenty of company. Dandi could feel something was incoming. She couldn't tell what, how many or from where though. She wished she could properly tap into the full depths of her Sharingan, but alas, was still too inexperienced with using it properly. Stepping away from her shadows, Verd and Chi were now basically standing in the entrance and having taken the spots of the former guards.

As the incoming reinforcements could be heard by their footsteps, Ver hit Chi in the side with her elbow to get his attention. "Come on, change your booty." She'd say to him. Tentacles or not, a transformation technique would still be doable. Slowly reshaping either of them into the looks and appearances of the former guards. As the new group arrived. Verd just hoped that Chi hid the bodies well enough. Perplexed by the seemingly 'normal' situation they suna nin glared at Verd and Chi in their transformed appearances. Something was odd here. "Why's there so much water her…?" one would start. Verd would stay silent and casually point upwards to the clouds above. As if to say like. 'Yeah uhm, you know, there is water when it rains, duh' but she didn't want to speak. Her masks voice distortion didn't function properly yet. Giving away that she wasn't a guy whilst being in a male disguise might proof… to be sort of difficult. Verd would have to rely on Chigetsu to do the talking part. Soon more of the reinforcements arrived. Out of previously three, now five… eight… twelve men appeared on the scene. Verdandi would grow continuously more uncomfortable. Their ruse and disguise were fairly simple and it won't work for much longer. Eventually, while Chi tried to explain some sort of made-up reason as towards what might have happened here. Verd was actually quite sure their cover blown any second now.

But that would proof to be unimportant as suddenly. A signal from the distance occurred. An alarm of sorts. Verd almost died for a moment there before she realized it wasn't the alarm in the control centre. It was faint and barely noticeable at distance. But soon, the Sunaan's radio would confirm. The dam is under a direct, frontal attack. Verd had almost forgotten that this joint operation had various ninja teams on the mission. Each of them their own goals. One of them specifically going into full blown direct offense. Their job was to create losses while giving the stealth teams, alike ours, a chance to fulfil their tasks. Verd stared at the ninja before here that were now ready to turn around and run towards the dam to eventually support their men. But one of those idiots just had to frickin ruin it. Just as Verd hoped they would buzz off, he turned around and stared at Chi and Verdandi. "What the fuck you waiting for, sound the alarm! Our guys need reinforcements!" and with that the guy underline his already growing suspicion that something was off with those two guards here. The remaining men stopped in their tracks and turned back around to look at them. Verd would shake her head, in which response the guy would make an annoyed grunt and walk towards the alarm button his arm lifted, specifically aiming with it to press it. Not good. No fun. Noooot good. Verdandi checked her surroundings. There was no way out now.

Knowing well what would happen next, Verd would definitely not wait for it. She lifted her hands and without question formed the hand signs for her first technique. While it was slowly raising, Verd would grab the man's palm that wanted to reach for the alarm. Undoing her transformation disguise, she lifted her Katana from its sheath and cleanly, directly cut into his arm, catching him by surprise as she pushed him back down. Verd kicked a few times into his face from above before shoving her blade into his neck, down into his rib cage. All the while Verdandi's casted technique, the Ice Rock dome had been brought into existence. Raising insanely quickly thanks to the vast amount of water available, the dome would enclose and shield Chi and Verd against the wall. Dandi made sure that the alarm button was with them, inside the rock dome. So, none of the people outside had the chance to go and press it anymore. Following her initial defense, she'd leave her katana temporarily stuck in the man that was bleeding out at her feet, forming another set of hand seals. Huge, insanely thick pillars of ice would erupt from the already dense body of frost of the ice dome, the first one would instantly impale itself into a target's belly. The others would just barely wound a few that were in range, forcing the ten shinobi to back off and get away from the now, heavily spiked dome.

Verdandi pulled her blade from her target. Slicing it once past his throat just to make sure he wouldn't stand up anymore. Moving next to Chigetsu she would crack her neck a few times. Potentially more guards were incoming and the ones outside would start to trash jutsu and projectiles against the ice rock dome. Not long until it'd eventually break a hole in. Verd gazed into Chi's eyes and gave him a playful bump with her side. "Hmmm alright darling, I guess its time to crush some skulls, the old-fashioned way. If we can keep them busy up here they won't bother our friends down there on their stealth mission. Sooo… ready to go?" Whenever Chi would nod. Verdandi would open a hole in the rock dome above them. Preferable not directly where the current jutsu and projectiles were thrown against. But one big enough for Chi and Verd to escape from and attack the ninja outside. It would be a glorious slaughter. A wonderful massacre. One befitting the little monsters of the mist. And Chi would get to do the first slash into the masses. Verd would reap what's left alive.

Maigo

Maigo

D-rank
Malice carried through that hallway and death was no longer a stranger in this place. Maigo carried himself up the stairs, his own own sharingan began to paint the images and scene in front of him in varying shades of red. He ignored outright Haka's scene and the splotches of red that covered the walls and area of the room as she slaughtered them all. With his eyes painting the building red, it was easy to ignore the shades of blood amongst it all. His steps were light and with Hakra rejoining him, it was an easy task to continue onwards, the feeling of death and the very killing intent was suffocating the contained building they were in.

Across the end of the staircase was a hallway with a single door at the end, on the other side was talking and callouts from a radio that could be heard as Maigo focused his perception upon it. His sharingan would turn back towards Haka as he would speak, "I will head up to the third floor, take care of this floor entirely, leave nothing." he would say as he would vault across the low points of the stairs immediately after and begin his final descent up to the top floor, the front office and everything in between it.

His anger surmounting as he got to the top of the stairwell and noticed that a short hallway was all that separated him and the final control room of the top floor. Their stealth mission was nearing at an end and his anger spun as his sharingan did too, his left eye closing as he began to feel the chakra stirring.

Crouch-walking up to the door, he would press the tips of his fingers into the frame and peek within, finding several people within, shinobi and some engineers as well that were monitoring things. The words 'Staff Only' imprinted on a sign on the door, he had a much better way of killing the people within the room but as his eye stirred, he remembered the mission at hand. The part of him that wanted to coat the controls in the black flames of Amateratsu and walk away to leave them to die or pick a death by falling out of the window would leave the entire facility in ash in a short time. It was a dumb plan and instead, he had to make sure to preserve as much of the facility as he could.

His hand would retract as he would snap himself out of it, peeking around the room and finding everyone within it again, two officers and three engineers. The engineers looked like simple desk jockeys, doubting he'd have trouble with them but the officers looked like tried and true shinobi, making them his first and most important targets. His killing intent was giving himself away though, as the shinobi had visible beads of sweat and their arms crossed as they looked over the scene, perhaps they weren't alerted to the commotion underneath them yet and that had to play. No one was looking his direction and that gave him the advantage for an instant, an instant to strike and kill.

Maigo slowly drew the shoge into his off hand as he stepped silently across the office to behind the first shinobi officer and an engineer sat in front of him. In his dominant hand, he began to draw forth a simple katana from his waist, before quickly turning the blade in his palm and shoving the blade through his chest while flickering a stream of Chidori lightning through it. The result was a splatter of blood that carried past and splashed to the window and screen in front of him. The female engineer that sat at the desk began to recoil and shreik in fear as he quickly drove the shoge into the side of her neck and ripped it violently through to end her wailing and quickly end her life.

The body would fall quickly to slump over the desk and area in front of her as Maigo twisted himself around the standing and impaled body before he twisted his sword and tore through the side of him before he fell lifelessly to the ground and Maigo's attention turned to the man in front of him. The other shinobi had drawn his own katana and coated it in chakra as well, the energy almost hummed from the blade as one engineer backed up and the other scattered from his chair and began to step quickly towards the door. Maigo's sharingan would let the scene unfold quickly before his eyes as he shifted his approach, lowering his stance and training his katana to meet the other shinobi's, he would flick his left arm outwards and let the Shoge fly from his hand as he would vault backwards over the desk.

The Shoge would land right on target, thudding into the man's neck as the force and shock would cause him to slide over. The engineer gripping at it immediately and feeling the pain and force of his life fade away as he slumped over. The other shinobi leader would begin his assault though, charging down and bearing his sword to stab into Maigo's shoulder as well, targeting the weak point on him. His body would shift a bit and let the blade tear into the flesh again, just off of it as he shifted but more blood drawing as the chakra in the blade would grind at the edges of his flesh. His left hand would grab the blade again and let it cut slightly into his palms as he would push his Chidori: Katana into the other man's heart, letting it slide through him like a knife into butter as the saying goes. A moment passed as the Chidori held loosely through the blade before the other shinobi's chakra would give out. Separation came as Maigo pulled the blade from his shoulder and ripped his out to give the man some final passing.

His breath had grown shorter though, he lingered over lazily to the body that held his shoge before hearing a scared whimper across the room. A loose end he had left. His vision scanned across the room and the windows that stood floor to ceiling. The man had cowered near a desk and was hiding as best he could, his legs still visible from behind it, Maigo sighed and began to walk towards him. Foosteps bearing down as the man gripped at his head and held his eyes closed for fear of crying. What he would find, at the end when his eyes would flicker open, was Maigo's own sharingan bearing down directly in front of him. The hypnotizing power of his eyes would carry as he would wait and slowly drive the shoge's tip into the man's heart.

His final moments wouldn't be of pain, but an illusion to offer everything he knew and would know, blood would leak cleanly from him. Much more so than the others that had it spilled out. It was no real mercy though, only a clean death as he could offer the coward. Maigo would finish and drop into a nearby seat, sliding his katana away and setting his shoge into his right hand as his left hand felt at the wounded flesh of his right shoulder while he waited for Haka to arrive. Not thinking on whether or not she would need any help just yet.

Haka Osada

Haka Osada

Retired
"I will head up to the third floor, take care of this floor entirely, leave nothing."

The mist wraith would nod at the movement of his lips forming the words. A single hallway with a single door. Not even reinforced or thick to add a measurement of guard. Haka knew what to do, moving forward as Maigo moved upward. She didn't even open the door, just passing through the thin obstacle like it wasn't even there. Two men only, guards on perception duty. Their radio would crackle as a voice alarmed them that the dam was under attack. There was a moment of bewilderment as they confusedly wondered who would be dumb enough to attack the dam when they were fully equipped and armed to deal with any approaching threat.

"Sound the alarm."

The other man nodded and was about to press the button only to find his hands being cut off in one slash by Haka's chakra arms. Howling in pain he stumbled back, looking at the stumps that once formed his hands. No more hand seals for him, but the other one was clever. With a technique of his own her mist form would be blown away to reveal her actual appearance. A young girl brushing away the long, white hair, eyes lowered before she'd raise them to look upon the two. One of the men was already out of combat, red fluid gushing out to colour the room. The other one was left on his own and would farm hand seals to throw in a gust of wind which would lacerate the spider-nin. As her own chakra arms moved in for the kill, Haka formed hand seals of her own to nullify hostile jutsu in the area. The whole room falling under its radius, the fuuton was instantly absorbed by the seal and left her opponent without any offensive options. Her arms sliced through his legs. He'd fall into the ground screaming in pain. All of it in soundless vain. Deprived of offensive jutsu, one man without arms, the other without legs, no option to scream for help. Completely left to the mercy of the arachnid assassin. Without a word she'd end their life and take the radio with her. Staying updated of the enemy's intel didn't sound like a bad decision.

Forced to leave the room by opening the door this time, Haka would close it behind her, lock it solid with a minor fuinjutsu and move up the stairs to join Maigo. The sound of raiton chirped like a bird and as Haka arrived at Maigo's position his blade would rip the man in two and end the battle. Soft whimpering broke the silence. A coward in a corner summoning Maigo to his side. Feeling someone nearby he'd look up to slake his curiosity only to stare mesmerised at the man whom heralded death. The same glazed stare as the spy in camp. Was Maigo using the sharingan again? She was starting to believe that the sharingan had some hypnotising effect the way Maigo's targets were left hollow in willpower. Left to feel the blade sink into their heart without putting up the slightest form of defence.

Maigo would put away his weapon and feel a wound he had suffered on his right shoulder. Seemingly waiting for a person that was already there, even if the misty form about her figure had been dispersed by the opponent's jutsu. A good move though a little too late since the building was most likely entirely cleaned out now. She'd approach Maigo to catch his attention, her eyes briefly resting on his wounds but saying nothing of it, nor making any suggestions that she'd take care of his wound. She was no medic. The only solace she brought was a swift end to life. Standing pretty much next to Maigo now, she handed him the radio of the men she had killed as an offer for live feedback on the enemy's status, dropping her Quietus so the both of them could hear the crackling of the voices.

"... holding the dam but taking heavy casualties. Send reinforcement. I repeat, send reinforcements."
"Central Control failed to sound the alarm.", she'd add to the feedback, hinting that she had killed the room below a second before the general alarm had been raised. If this was the last room to clean up, their side of the mission was pretty much done. "What now?"

Chigetsu Hōzuki

Chigetsu Hōzuki

Dead
He would stare down at the mess he had made. It was a bit unfortunate, but the improvised solution they had used in taking down these guards wasn’t exactly… Well. It wasn’t ideal to say the least, but it worked. The bodies were buried deep under the ground now, completely out of the picture. He had given them the best he could attempt at a proper burial, six feet down in the now muddy ground. It should stop them from being found, at least during the mission. Although if another massive wave like that happened it would be impossible to tell, as erosion could easily get to them. Of course, the burial of the people killed wasn’t something he usually cared about, but right now it could easily prove their undoing if the corpses became noticed. He didn’t have much time to think about it, and already Verdandi would be urging him to change forms. The elbow in his ribs made him jiggle like a gelatin dessert, and he would quickly recall the tentacles back into his body. The jutsu wouldn’t be ended just yet, as they could come in handy later. He would assume the appearance of one of the guards that he had murdered, and after making sure that he and Verdandi didn’t accidentally transform into the same guard they would both stand at attention.

He acted as casual as he possibly could with the other two guards approaching. But It was hard not to think about how many ways this little stealth endeavour could mess up. If any specific information was asked of him it would immediately blow the disguise. He was immediately nervous as the approaching guard started asking about the massive flood of water that had pushed by, but that nervousness subsided all at once by Verdandi’s response. The silent finger pointing up to the rain clouds was too much in the tense moment, and he almost broke out laughing. The sassiness provided a few snickers from him that he had to hold back. The approaching guards didn’t seem all too amused by the response, and not by his snickering either, and the glare that he got immediately snapped him back into being nervous again. The whiplash of moods was uncomfortable, and Chigetsu would clear his throat as he tried to adjust to the situation.

“There was a sudden downpour. Like nothing I’ve ever seen before.” He would take the reigns. Talking wasn’t exactly his strong suit, but he picked up quickly on why Verdandi wasn’t speaking. “It seemed like the compound was going to be blown away for a second, but it stopped as soon as it started.” The attempted explanation he gave didn’t seem to reassure them as he wanted it to. More reinforcements arrived shortly, and it, before he could gather his thoughts there, would be dozen men staring him down. His excuse didn’t seem to be shifting the suspicion off them either. Chigetsu would stutter, trying hard to think of a way to get out of this situation. The sudden alarm saved him. It served as a temporary distraction, but that ended quicker than he would have liked with the big Sunaan soldier quickly coming up to them and demanding the alarm be pulled. Each footstep he took towards them seemed significantly louder than the last.

Verdandi acted quickly. Before he could press the alarm his arm would be sliced into, and the man would subsequently be carved open. Before he could join her in the combat, which he shifted to much more naturally and easily than trying to keep his cover, the dome of ice would rise up around them. With the barrier around them and the alarm button, they would both be safe and denying them the ability to set the alarm. How both impressed and relieved he was was immediately apparent on his face. She was completely in control of the situation, and there wasn’t anything he needed to do at the moment other than watch and provide support. The following set of hand signs he saw her make and the subsequent screams from the other side of their barrier were icing on the cake. Watching her brutally murder people with such ease was incredibly attractive in a way he never would have thought possible before. As the pounding of jutsu came against the dome he would pop a grin, and the little bump she gave him would be responded to with a playful wink and nod.  “I was born for moments like this. Let’s have some fun.”

The jump up through the hole would immediately be followed by a barrage of bullets from one hand, laying down suppressive fire down upon the masses that crowded them. From the other hand would come the barrage of tentacles he had been saving. A wonderful massacre would be enacted, with blood being spilled to coat the floor. Bodies would fall one by one, smacking against the floor as corpses. He would be smiling the entire time.

Verdandi

Verdandi

D-rank
Verdandi's radio flickered to life. If hers did, then so would Chi's and Haka's. Intel coming through from the other teams that the bandit camp at the dam had been eradicated and the Kiri control over the main building was secured. Not long until the confirmation would join them over the explosives being all in position and the chakra lined network connecting them was ready as well. As soon as Maigo and Haka were done with their part. The objectives of the mission were officially completed it seemed and the groups were on clean-up duty. Verdandi wouldn't have it any other way than to get to finish her part of the job along with her squiddle butt as well. There were but twelve enemies in the open now. The alarm would soon mean nothing anymore anyway if all parts of the dam would be under Kiri control. Leaving the twelve suna-nin to be but the last remains of the enemy troops that simply needed to be dealt with. Verd passed the hole in the barrier eventually. Her sharingan glowing to life when she ogled at the situation before her. Obviously not perfectly able to use it just yet but still able to use it in tandem with her stance. She didn't need the chakra sight to be fully operation able here. Being simply able to have a normal field of vision would work for a start. Her long katana would bee pulled from her side and its chainsaw like fangs pulled past the arms and legs of the closest two shinobi.

Verds sudden surprise attack from the dome was leaving the shinobi in the front row to bleed from arms or legs. Chi would throw himself down on his own half of enemies. Verd wouldn't try to intercept his joy by taking away his toys. Verd would start simple on her own enemies. Exhaling a thick mist of frost breath against them to make sure that they were clear about what's going to happen. By the time fire and wind was starting to blow Verd's way she already had her ice armor lifted upon her skin. The thick layers of frost on her body would swallow the first combo of C-Ranks as if it was nothing. Fire in particular, even wind enhanced couldn't really annoy her much. With the durability of an S-Rank armor Verd waltzed through the enemies. Swinging her odachi through them, specifically aiming for thighs, legs and feet. All her sliced doing perfect two inches deep cuts and causing massive bleedings. Blood spilled down onto her black armor plates. In a final combination of angry movements. Verdandi blasted her Gale Palm upon her enemies. Projectiles thrown her way would just drop to the ground or, if unlucky, be sent back where they came from. The whole act becoming a diffusive mess of screaming men. Verd chuckled. Putting her sword properly back into its sheath. More hand signs following. Raining the ninjutsu offense upon them. First the thousand water needles that would puncture their nerves and then, at last, the mercy blow.

Empowered by the heavy amount of water in the surrounding area. Verdandi's signature Ice Spears would raise from the damp wet ground into the bodies of her enemies. They were already wounded. Blown back. Disarmed. Bleeding and had lacerations in their muscles from the suiton based senbon in their flesh. Unable to really move much. As the frost formed beneath them. Spiking into their flesh. Many pillars impaling more than just one of them. Pushing into their skin and pointing into their throats, back and bellies. Leaving them impaled on the spikes behind. Verdandi would glance over to make sure Chi had finished his own half of enemies as well. If not. She could always come to aid him with her sword. Cutting any survivors down after the onslaught wouldn't be much of a problem anymore. The frost dome would eventually start to melt. But the impaled corpses would still be hanging on their frozen sticks by the time Maigo and Haka might return from the bellows of the operations centre. Verd quickly hid her sharingan again. Making sure that no one would take notice of it until it was specifically necessary. The eye patch quickly placed back on her left. Coughing a few times. Chi had already seen it before. Not sure what he made of it being there. Verd just grinned at him and would, in time start to retract the chainsaw blades from her swords mechanism.

She would be cleaning and eventually sheathing her Odachi again as the team reunited. The mission seemed to be quite a success all parties considered. Verd didn't even need to smash a sand dune upon their enemies this time. If Maigo would come up, she'd be all like 'I totally behaved for once!'. The rain above them would stop. The clouds disperse. Despite the humid feel being a good thing for Kiri-nin, making it rain wasn't a particularly easy thing to do. She scratched her and used her suiton control to get any remaining blood and water off her armor. Her focus would quickly aim to Maigo. If he had anything left to say for the Squad. Considering the outcome it'd probably be in order to disperse the Squad for today.

Maigo

Maigo

D-rank
Maigo would find himself sitting down in a rolling chair as Haka approached him finally. Letting him rest easy for a moment, it was like the weight of the world would lift from his shoulders and the previously edgy Uchiha would drop his sharingan for the time and let the natural honey yellow color return to his eyes as he sighed and held his left arm across his chest to his right shoulder.

Haka would release her technique as well, speaking up about their failure to raise the alarm and holding out a radio and letting the sound play for both of them. Maigo would smirk as he would inch his desk chair towards the nearest table or structure as Haka spoke, with her words ending as to what they would do now, Maigo's smirk would carry and his attention would fall directly on her.

"They seem to have a good handle on things, don't ya think?"

He would almost chuckle as he would press his feet towards the table and press off heavily, pushing himself in chair across the room to the nearest wall-height window while spinning. The chair rolling and creasing across the floor in its plastic wheels before he propped his feet up on the window itself and began to overlook it. In a much louder voice, he would call out so Haka could hear him, "I think we head down to help finish up soon and then call it a day."

He would let off and watch vaguely in the distance below the lookout as the scene would unfold so similar to their own. He dreaded the incoming paperwork and final task of securing out the structure they were in for their own use but he'd gathered a plethora of information from that engineer. Still, as he sat relaxed and waiting for Haka to say anything, he would speak to himself,

"I should take up smoking, now would be a good time for a victory cigar..." he would iterate to himself and pause as he let a sigh remove some untold weight of stress from his chest. Hesitating as long as he could or as long as Haka would allow, he would wait there before heading down to their staging area and scene of battle to help clean up and finish off any stragglers before calling it a mission well done.

Haka Osada

Haka Osada

Retired
Maigo took a seat on a rolling chair. His sharingan died out, the hatred leaving to show the softer honey yellow behind it. It reminder Haka of her own eyes before they had turned red. An amber colour, now as red as blood. The katon she had taken for herself had coloured it red amber first but as she progressed the light, almost hollow colour, was given depth and solidity. The spider couldn't say if it meant anything but then again, it was just a colour. It had not changed her vision. The sharingan was something entirely different. A little thing that got her intrigued. The whirling motion had to mean something. He used it during combat time and again, so it was certain to do something.

"They seem to have a good handle on things, don't ya think?"

She would weigh the words to what she had heard in the radio. The opponent was being overwhelmed and on this end the alarm had been silenced. The control room was theirs, their mission was a success. A mission like this, organised, well executed, even with a big mass of members... That appealed to her. The outcome a perfect result thanks to careful planning and meticulous execution. A web woven, a fly caught. The arachnid could only appreciate it. Haka would nod. Yes, whoever was dealing death on the other side was having a good handle on things.

The chair with Maigo would roll across the room as he pushed himself off the wall and onto the window. The spider-nin would step closer, take a look at the view outside. The dam, all quiet from where they stood, figures dancing across the vast range it spanned as they overran the area. One by one bodies would be taken out and fall, the terror the opponent experienced left hanging as the question why reinforcements didn't come in would never be answered.

"What exactly is your whirling eye?", she'd ask him after he muttered something about smoking and victory cigars. He seemed to hesitate despite the otherwise calmed demeanour now. As if he was considering if it was save to entrust a natural hunter with such a secret. But maybe he simply hadn't heard her. Maybe his mind was already fixated on the next battle below, the urge to jump into the fray too strong to be ignored. Maybe next time, when they met again. One thing was for sure... As Haka joined Maigo into cleaning up what little remained of the enemy forces, her attention would be partially fixated on his sharingan in an attempt to pry loose more about its mystical power.

One day, she'd know. She'd know all about it.

Chigetsu Hōzuki

Chigetsu Hōzuki

Dead
The storm had ended. Their enemies had fallen down around them in droves. The high from the destruction had faded down too. The adrenaline that had sped through his veins was gone now. He was left panting and exhausted. The giddy feelings evaporated away from him, and he was left with the mess that came after. His radio flickered to life shortly after the exhilaration cooled down. Intel streamed out about how the other teams had succeeded their objectives. The enemy force had been engaged successfully and routed off the battlefield, all paper bombs had been placed, and now that they had taken control of the control room all objectives were safely completed. The dam was under Kirigakure control. Almost. There were surely stragglers who had escaped their grasp and were still worming their way around. That’s how it always went. No matter how hard they crushed these bugs they would always spring back up. More and more. Killing here and now though, it felt satisfying. With his left arm he had eight tentacles. With his right arm a magnum. There were six kills for him. A nice amount. It was one for each bullet, and if he wanted to play that game he could have tried to hit one each fatally with each little piece of ammunition he had for a kill. But that wasn’t nearly visceral enough for him to be satisfied with.

His tentacles would instead be his weapon of choice. The barrage of bullets he shot out wouldn’t be aimed to kill, but rather to stop their momentum. His fury was aimed at their legs and arms, and with four of his aimed shots he would tag a limb from each of the men he was going to kill. Stopping their movement they would be easy prey for him. Broken limbs would be curled around and taken hold of and those unfortunate men would be swung around. They were being basically thrashed around as if they were toys, slammed into walls and the floor until they were little more than misshapen piles of meat. The two that had escaped his initial barrage would searched out after. The swirling of his other four tentacles had kept them at bay, but once he focused the full force of his limbs down upon them they were each quickly swept up. They would be pulled apart, each of their limbs twisted and ripped off until they were no more. He made an incredible mess with it, but it was necessary for him. All of this was too frustrating. He needed to release that anger somewhere, especially when this wouldn’t be the last of these Suna rats.

Returning to Verdandi after he had finished would result in him sheathing his tentacles, returning them to a normal limb. The mission was a success. The two of them would eventually return to the others, Haka and Maigo, and wait for their commanding officer to dismiss them. He would be waiting for it. Even with that horrible display of violence he had back there as he cleaned up the leftovers he still wouldn’t be satisfied. It was meaningless, all the violence, except as a way to make himself feel better. He couldn’t help but feel all they were doing here in this land was grinding down on a millstone endlessly.

Verdandi

Verdandi

D-rank
Verdandi gazed around the battlefield, the bodies were slowly being piled up. Chi helped giving them a proper water burial within the sand of the suna desert. Verd watched how the bodies sunk and disappeared. Seeing that the bubbly boyfriend had things under control there she made sure to clean up the remains of ice and water she had created. Releasing the spiked bodies, leaving them to sink to their burial as well. Maigo and Haka would eventually return from their deeds deep down in the caverns of the control centre. The potential distress of incoming paperwork was visible on Maigo's face, leaving Verd to chuckle a little. In time the kiri troops that were taking over the dam would arrive, leaving Maigo with no other needs than to dismiss the group as it was. Seeing Haka and Maigo leave rather quickly would give the squiddler and the ice princess some time to cuddle and celebrate their victory. It was a long, stretched mission that yet seemed to have reached its perfect climax as requested and intended. Another victory on the side lines. Reinforcing Kiri's position in the by now ending battle over the desert. The enemy forces seemed to be defeated on almost all borders now. Leaving but very little left of suna as it seemed. The dam was under Kiri control. The civilians would ultimately have to either deal with their new masters or move to new places where they could get their water intake from.

Verd agreed to Chi's personal worries about what ultimate goal either of them seemed to be chasing in these lands. Considering that there was not much left to loot from anyway. While the villages came to liberate and heal the land of the sand it seemed that they but only left behind an empty shell of a former, certainly already broken, but still proud nation. Whomever was going to rebuild it no would certainly have to deal with a lot of empty wasteland. Poor remaining locals and a lot of damaged buildings and cities. The call back home to Kiri was not far anymore. So the young Ahoban trio and their captain would have to just wait it out and see what will eventually come to fruit from all this seemingly useless conflict.

Verd made sure that the troopers that were taking over were satisfied with the situation. Snuggling Chi a few times and then moving her butt back home to the Kiri camp. She'd need a shower and stress the whole situation through her brain once again. Somehow each of these victories. Being it against bandits or suna rebels, seemed to have a rather bitter taste to them in the long run. But she had to at least see it as a sort of rather intense stealth training for her to get something positive out of it and that the refugees seemed to be actually cared for.
