1 Strike Like a Viper Thu Jun 21, 2018 11:07 pm
Nozomi
D-rank
Nozomi ducked and weaved between the strikes that her two opponents sent towards her. They were a match for her when together, one actually worth forcing herself to meet in physical combat. Her jutsu prowess was superior to theirs, but this match was on a Taijutsu level, and so she needed to use only her Taijutsu styles against them. The problem was that for the most part, she'd been focusing on the Taijutsu style of her clan, rather than any other styles, and because of that, she was lacking in versatility. It was because of that that Nozomi began to train up her own new fighting style, modelling it after that of the Viper: A quick succession of attacks and a retreat all in a short span of time. This wasn't anything new for her, but the method in which she would do so would more closely resemble a viper in that she would be striking and retreating with great speed for both the inital and retreat, or she could coil up for two strikes in one go, to down an opponent in the first barrage. Combined with her use of her clan jutsu, rather than poisoning her opponent to bring them down though, she'd be cutting them, to bleed them over time, and eventually wear them down that way. It was a combination that flowed into her already established skill set, enhancing it and covering prior weaknesses.
By flowing Raiton chakra through her limbs, she was able to quickly utilize the electrical nature of the raiton to circumvent the time it took for her electrical impulses from her brain to reach her muscles and nerves, and the discharge let her fire forward or in any direction from a point on her tenketsu. It was something well suited to a Himitsu, who needed an intense amount of chakra control to utilize the petal jutsu of the clan anyhow, and she'd be able to master it fairly easily, but first she needed practice with it on the field. The concept was sound, and she'd done all the formulating of it, but unless it actually worked, it would just be a theory. Hence why she'd gone to the Training Grounds to fight some people while trying to use it. That was, of course, easier said than done, and she wouldn't be getting it on the first go around. She'd already been fighting these guys for a while, dodging and blocking their attacks with impressive levels of speed and focus, but that was just her normal levels, it wasn't anything that she couldn't attain on any normal day without the use of chakra. She was having issues figuring out the exact levels she needed to output in order to not just waste it away. So far, she'd managed to utilize it in a small manner, the boost impressive but nothing too outlandish, perhaps at the level of a C rank technique. She needed it to be higher, stronger, faster, better.
Her opponents were Jounin level fighters, two she regularly sparred with. The first of them was a white and black haired Osada by the name of Shijo, who was a physically impressive and intimidating man who used tattoos to help increase his intimidation factor. His eyes were a piercing blue, while his teeth had been filed to a point in order to help him use more of his body as a weapon. He'd formed a reputation of ripping out the throats of his enemies with his teeth and nails, which were also filed to sharp points, although he mainly used clawed gauntlets for that aspect, as nails were easily broken. His tattoo marking were meant to be reminiscent of Tiger marks, a quite fearsome and powerful animal that sat near the top of the food chain. Shijo was around 5'8" tall, and although he wasn't massive like a tiger, he was incredibly ripped. His body fat percentage was about as low as it could be, all of his weight put into his heavy muscles, and his strength was nothing to laugh at. While he wasn't quite as strong as Ayakashi or Sero was, he was actually a little bit stronger than Nozomi was physically. Of course, he didn't match her in terms of speed and reactions, but if one of his hits connected, it wouldn't just be something she shrugged off.
He wore black legging-like pants and normal black open-toed shinobi sandals on his lower half, while his upper half was adorned with a skin tight black shirt on the lowest layer, sleeveless shirt in order to keep his sweat absorbed and help him cool off easier. Over top of that, he wore a white shitagi and a black kosode layered one over the other. On the top layer, he wore a deep v-necked tunic like clothing, with short shoulder pads that showed the Kirigakure symbol on them and had sleeves down to his elbows. Shijo wore a sash around his waist with a belt over top that in order to keep it from being too tight on him. On the belt was a single pouch that held some basic items for his day to day issues. A kunai was the chief item, so he was never without a weapon. On his hands, he wore simple fingerless black gloves. He was attractive too, even Nozomi would have admitted that, although he tended to like women in positions of authority that he had no chance of getting together with. He was always trying to get Nozomi to go out on a date with him, and was always failing spectacularly. Of course, this only spurred him on to continue in his quest until he made her his conquest. Nozomi on the other hand only kept him around because he was a good sparring partner. It would be a cold day in hell before she ever agreed to go on a date with him, let alone do anything further. Then again, she really wasn't particularly interested in many men, and that had been a fairly consistent thing.
Her other opponent on the other hand was fairly average in most ways. He didn't specialize in any sort of combat, preferring to be a jack of all trades, but because of that, he was evenly capable of taking hits, dishing them out, and reacting with a fair level of speed. He wasn't really much of a taijutsu expert, as his main method of fighting was with stealth, ninjutsu, and his weaponry, but his physical abilities were at least enough to keep up with Nozomi. While Shoji was just a jounin who excelled in combat, Tagami Yuki was a member of Ayakashi's clan, and a Hunter-nin as well. Nozomi had noted that he had a certain level of talent, and as the still unofficial but almost completely verified head of the Hunter-nin Corp, she'd pulled him in for some more personal training. She was considering making him one of her own personal squad, as he had the potential to be quite an asset.
Tagami went by the name Kata-Yuki when he was in his Hunter-nin persona, although it wasn't really a secret what his job was. Much like Nozomi, he and his persona were not very well hidden, as he had melded his identity as both into one. Still, he wasn't as well known as she was, and hadn't even got the rank of Hunter-nin captain yet, although speculation was due to his lack of motivation to be in a position of power. That worked well for Nozomi, who could utilize his talents in her squad better if he didn't have a superiority complex and think he should be in charge. His usual style of stealth was best suited when mixxed with his ice weapons, as he made them so clear they were almost invisible. Combined with explosive tags and some concealing ice, he could effectively launch invisible explosion at people with high rates of speed and lethality, all the while maintaining a distance or a conversation.
Of course, this match didn't allow weaponry like that, but he wasn't without his own skills in Taijutsu. While he wasn't a specialist, he was capable of holding his own, trained about as much as the average shinobi, but with impressive levels of physicality himself. His build is a little thinner than Shoji's, although he's at the same height as his temporary teammate. His hair was a short grey, slicked back a little bit, and his eyes were dark brown, almost black. He was also fairly attractive as far as men went, but he didn't try and seduce anyone, which made him infinitely more fun to be around than Shoji. Even better, he was tactically minded, so he wasn't just a hit hard and fast type person unless the situation called for it.
His hunter-nin outfit and regular outfit were both the same. He wore his ANBU armor under the Hunter kimono, and his hunter kimono was quite a deal shorter than the standard. His pants were slate grey, and other than that, he had the standard load out. His open toed black sandals, his black fingerless gloves, and the hip pouch for his gear. He was a force to be reckoned with to be sure, but 1 on 1, he didn't stand a chance against Nozomi. Neither did Shoji. That was why she had them pair together to try and force her in combat, where she could actually have some difficulty with the fight unless she managed to master her jutsu. It would force her to do it to win on her terms. The fight had to be hard enough that she would be unsure if she could beat them without the new style, and the two of them together had the something in physical skill.
Then there was Nozomi of course. She herself was much like she always was. Standing at 5'2", with her hair tied up in a bun, she wore her standard Hunter-nin armor and gear, with the black jumpsuit underneath everything. A red sash belt tied her top to her, even though it was left open so she could easily access the inner pockets. Her headband with the Kiri logo was on a scarf around her neck. She was what people would call cute, and was still pretty young, one of the youngest Jounin around, especially given her station in Kirigakure. She was one of the most important people in the entire Kirigakure military, having assisted in the training of many different kunoichi and shinobi, young and old.
As far as her skills went, her experiences and talent spoke for itself. She was absolutely a monster of physical fitness, a master of Taijutsu and Bukijutsu, as well as implementing her Ninjutsu into both of them. She was currently working on her mastery of Fuuinjutsu, but eventually she'd be just as good with them as she was with the rest of her skills. There were few people who could keep up with her raw speed without use of a jutsu, and few people who could trade hands with Nozomi, let alone hit her, as her reaction time was immense. Tied in to that, she was quite perceptive, able to use sounds, smells, even the air to figure out where things were, even if she couldn't see. Her sight was even better. It only got worse for an opponent when she laced her moves and attacks with chakra to enhance herself even further.
Still, they weren't having a good time trying to hit her. The flurries came, but she was dodging them as fast as they could come, blocking what she could and delivering back quick jabs while trying to pump more raiton into her strikes, using the blast from the raiton on her tenketsu to do as much of the striking as possible. Still, she wasn't making much headway, both Shoji and Tagami were keeping up with her too well. Nozomi jumped over a leg sweep from Tagami, moving to punch Shoji in the face, her arm rocketing forward, but it was too slow, and her arm too short as he had moved to do the same thing. His fist connected first, and she went flying backwards, her concentration on her Raiton going a little haywire as that happened. Smashing into the ground, Nozomi started to spark a little bit as Raiton chakra leaked out from her.
Standing up from the punch, Nozomi grinned, wiping the blood off from the side of her mouth, her eyes flashing with the Raiton that was suddenly coarsing through her being. Her entire body stiffened and she was full to the brim with electrical energy. Her mind started to race at a high speed, faster than usual. She had a brief thought that that was the level of control that she needed, but it quickly disappeared because she started formulating multiple plans of attack from that moment on. It was almost the very moment she thought about what she wanted to do that she was already at them, a strike to Shoji's solar plexus, knocking the wind out of him, and a kick to Tagami's chin in the same movement. Her body had moved at speeds she had been used to when she'd done her weight trainings, although that training had ceased to be effective as of late, so she basically ignored it.
They both were sent flying backwards, Shoji out of breathe from the strike to his solar plexus, sufficiently winded and unable to catch his breathe for a moment. Tagami on the other hand had landed on his back and rolled on his back and recovered quickly, although Nozomi had already covered the distance and singled him out for her attacks. The flurry smashed into him, and not quite as tough as Shoji in terms of taking hits, he fell rather quickly. Crumpling to the ground under her unrelenting assault, he called out that he was done, as she pounded into him. From behind her, she heard Shoji wheezing a little as he tried to tag her from behind, and she spun on the spot, her raiton having built back up again and the fist smashed into his temple at high speeds. He crumpled as well, and the energy within her continued to burn. She zipped around between the two of them, wishing they'd get up, but after a while, it would start to die down a little bit, burning out.
When she dropped down back to normal levels, Nozomi looked at the two of them still on the ground, a little bit shocked to see that it had only been about 10 seconds worth of time since she'd finished the two of them. Helping them up, she called the spar quits, ready to turn in. They'd been at it for a while now, but it was finally enough for her to go and rest. She needed to head out to Suna soon.
