... This has to be my most favorite place in the whole village…
The library was something of a beauty that was for sure. The outside of the building resembling something like a miniature castle, down to the beautiful gray colored outer stone, stained glass windows which depicted different scenes of both peace and war, and the thick and heavy double wooden doors that served as the entrance to the three story building. The inside was made almost entirely out of wood save for the stone that rose up the wall and surrounded the grand fireplace with a roaring fire going. The place was trimmed tastefully with gold, enough to accent the deep dark wood without going too overboard. To the left of the entrance to the library was a long counter that served as the libraries circulation desk and which was manned by a thin old woman with long white curly hair pulled up into a chignon, with piercing emerald green eyes that spoke of no nonsense being accepted, and wire framed glasses. In the center of the library, and well within sight of the librarian’s watchful gaze, stood the grand spiral staircase that led to the upper two floors of the library, floors which were off limits to all but shinobi as they held the knowledge and secrets otherwise unknown to the civilian population: it was a place that one had to request permission to access - far quieter than the first floor which was for both civilians and shinobi alike. Each floor of the library housed dozens upon dozens of shelves, thousands of books filling them, everything and anything imaginable held within the multitude of volumes. There were thick heavy desks and plush chairs scattered around, some closer to the fireplace and some further away, along with comfortable armchairs for those who simply wanted to relax without wanting to do so at one of the tables provided. The lighting was soft without being too soft: bright enough to read by without being too bright to the point of giving one a headache. It was quiet safe for the crackling of fire or the occasional cough of one of those within.
..If I fail at being a ninja at least I have becoming a librarian to fall back on…
Tucked off in the corner of the first floor, near where the fireplace was, was a small willowy female who stood no taller than an even five feet. Her hair, a light sandy brown color, was back in a delicate french braid that was tied off with a tiny ponytail at the end. Unlike most shinobi who dressed the part she was dressed more like a civilian than anything - though the young Guanyin definitely wasn’t one. A baggy beige turtleneck sweater helped to hide her small frame while providing warmth against the chill in the outside air. A pair of dark brown leggings and black leather knee high boots that provided no more than half an inch of height to her naturally short self helping to complete her ensemble. Within a hidden pocket of her attire held her ID card as well as other identification, important items, and general things she didn’t like traveling around about. For now the female was bent over the desk, a pen in hand, a stack of number coded papers in front of her, and a cart of books off to her immediate left - some of which had been placed on the desk after she had got done with them. As per usual Junko was helping out at the library, something she often did when not busy at the hospital or when her nose wasn’t shoved into one of the many books she loved. Her task for today was to help sort the newer books which had arrived in, something she did quite willingly as it left the librarian to man the doors and ensure no one snuck off upstairs who didn’t belong. It wasn’t exactly the most fast pace work, but it ensured that Yukina got first dibs on checking out the newest books she’d have access to as soon as they were properly checked in - a bonus for her considering her thirst for knowledge.
...So much done already and so much more to go…
In silence she pulled another book off of the cart, placing it open in front of her and gaining a bit of enjoyment out of the creek that sounded as she opened the brand new volume. She wrote the name of the book down on the list next to her, right below the last one, and then wrote the corresponding number in the book before writing the name of the library in and then closing it and placing it to the side. After several more times of this she paused, yawning and covering her mouth with the back of her hand before stretching and groaning softly - she had been at this for several hours after all, which was why her cart was over half empty compared to what it had been when she started.
