Mission Details: The birds. THE BIRDS.
They're territorial, and they will peck at you relentlessly. Don't kill them, they're someone else's property.
The sun’s rays effortlessly flew through the blinds in Fable’s room. There wasn’t much in the room at first glance, only a few game boards, empty cups and clothes laid about. Fable was peacefully sleeping, slight snores periodically flowing out his mouth. As the a breeze caught the air, it push through his open window and brushed the blinds enough to let the suns beams interrupt Fable’s slumber.
“You going to sleep your young life away, ya know?” Said a familiar voice to Drowsy
Grumbling under his breathe as he blocked the bright lights, Drowsy used his other arm to scratch his head as he sat up. “Ya know. Maybe if you slept more when you were younger, you’d be as handsome as me now.” He retorted to the old man, as he yawned and got out of bed.
He was promptly greeted with a newspaper smacking him in the face as he opened his eyes, and heard his grandfather say “Oohahaha, I’m the reason you even have those features kid. Now, look through the papers, I heard there was an organization looking for some quick work. I’ll see you after the Stratus.” As he walked out the side door to the home, the newspaper fell into Fable’s hands as he sighed and read about the odd job.
The description was quite straightforward, go to the organization’s place grab the materials and build a messenger bird’s landing post. Fable saw it as a simple enough task, and quickly got dressed, as he washed himself the night before after an intense training session with his grandfather. He winced a little, as he put on his necklace, him arms slightly sore still. He left the house rather quickly after washing his face and brushing his teeth. He grabbed his Kumogakure forehead protector on his way out the door and tied it around his neck, letting in hang a bit.
As he walked to the building he wondered if he should train his Suiton or Kenjutsu when he returned. His grandfather had spoken about returning, and seeing as he said the same thing yesterday before returning drunk and stumbling into Drowsy’s room screaming about how lazy he was. Drowsy chuckled as he remembered his grandfathers falling over into a rather large reserve of water after showing Drowsy the “Ranton Style: Stotmbringer jutsu”. Drowsy hadn’t quite gotten the hang of the jutsu, but it was quite difficult to pull off even among the clans upper tier members. His grandfather used the jutsu quite easily, but this was no surprise to Drowsy.
His grandfather was in quite good standings in the clan as for his efforts in mentoring many of the clan’s prodigies. This was part of the reason he was so hard on Fable, although it was always an adventure when it came to training with his grandfather. Fable chuckled as he thought of his kin, as he, like everyone else, found him quite entertaining. He picked his head up to see that he’d reached his destination. He quietly walked inside and up to the secretary’s desk, asking about the paper. She simply pointed at a poster on the wall and with a sincere “Thank you.” Fable walked over to the poster and noticed a stack of flyers showing the location that needed a messenger bird’s landing post.
He followed the directions to the supply room in the building, and grabbed the wood and materials he’d need to use to build the landing post. Carrying them to his destination his mind began to drift again. This time he pondered on how long he spend in Kumogakure. The clan allowed his humble return only because his grandfather was in such good standings with them. Fable knew he’d have to show signs of genius, especially since he was following in both his grandfather’s path, and forever entrapped in his father’s shadow. Though those things didn’t quite plague Fable’s mind, nothing did really. He simply wouldn’t allow it.
As he approached the destination he noticed how tall the tree was, but he didn’t sweat it too much. A simple supernatural walking technique would allow him him to walk up the tree easily. He noticed there were quite a few birds circling the peak of the tree, the perfect spot for the post. The flyer had warned Fable about this, but it seemed to escape his mind on the walk over. With a sigh at the task in front of him, he understood this was going to require some effort if he was going to complete the mission the laziest way possible.
Fable sat down for a bit putting the pieces to the birdhouse together. It was rather simple to piece together even without the directions on the back of the flyer. He pondered for a moment who would actually be using this post to transfer messages, but not very long. As long as he got paid, and they stayed out of his way he’d sleep fine. After completing this step, he stood up and weaves a few hand signs gearing up to use the jutsu he’d recently learned from the clan’s jutsu archives.
“Water Style: Water Clone Jutsu” he said before spitting out a surplus of water to create the clone.
After the clone formed, Fable sent it up the tree using the supernatural walking technique. As the clone reached higher in the tree, the bird began to attack. They were crows, protecting their nest and young. Fable understood their viewpoint, but a jobs a job. His clone trudged through the attacks and nailed the birdhouse to the tree after taking countless pecks and barrages from the birds. Fable had no worries though, this clone jutsu was rather durable and worse come to worse he could recover the clone by supplying him with more suiton.
After the clone was done with its task, Fable dispersed his other half, and left the work site. Though the birds, drenched from attacking the clone’s water body didn’t see the conflict as so resolved. They glared through the forest to locate the culprit of tampering with their home, and quickly located Drowsy, himself. As they dove from the great height their nest was in attempts to attack him, Drowsy felt a killer intent, a skill he gained from all the sneak attacks and pranks his grandfather liked to play on him.
Drowsy slowing turned his head around to notice the murder diving in his direction. With a single sweat drop coming down the side of his cheek, he gulped and said “You know guys I would love to hang, but I was just on my way to trained at home. See ya!”
He frantically ran all the way home, swiftly stopping by the organization’s office to drop off the confirmation that he’s completed his task, with the birds following him almost the entire way home.
