Mission:

After the last success of his most recent mission the administration building was quick to assign the Hibana with his next task. Finally he had earned the right to be considered by the Konoha veterans as a true elite genin, one that had potential to become a great ninja. In fact, from his recent activities the only question he had in mind was why he was still a genin. Clearly he was meant for much bigger things than grunt work. Though, he had to admit, there wasn't much to complain about when it came to missions. Long had it been since he had been given anything he would remotely consider as grunt work, and the same could be said for his mission today. The rays of sunshine rained upon Konohagakure no Sato, it was the sun's peak. Aromas of different cuisines clashed in a battle to claim the most Ryo from hungry employees. Among the many seated in the administration building’s cafeteria was Akashi Hibana. It wasn't often that the nobleman’s child found himself dining in such places, but it proved convenient. He had been called to the building, briefed on his next assignment. He had some time before he needed to reach the destination and the clock just managed to hit lunch time. In front of him was his favorite meal of katsudon. The egg and pork blended perfectly in his mouth, it was a flavor unlike any other. The meal brought joy to him. It was a brief moment of fulfillment before leaving for his mission. Tempted, he opened the scroll that detailed the mission. He had already been briefed, so the mission scroll was— more than anything— for proof that he was actually who he said he was. Nothing out of the norm were in the mission details, in fact, the mission itself was quite boring, but it was his task and he'd complete it. With  the bowl emptied in front of him, the Hibana set of, bringing his sword— Ryogi— strapped at his side.

There was more than enough time to reach his destination. He moved in a casual pace, saving his energy for what was to come. From the looks of things, it appeared as though it wasn't his physicality that would be tested today, but instead his mental fortitude. Dealing with the wealthy was always something that he forgoed, it was ironic since he himself was the son of a more than wealthy man. He hoped that he would at least be paired with a decent partner, one that allowed for decent conversation to pass the time. Reaching the ends of Konoha’s gates, he would find himself hopping from tree branch to tree branch, moving along the tree lines. Always preferring the quicker path, he ignored the well protected roads in search of his destination. A small part of him wanted to come upon a wild bear or perhaps a bandit camp, but it never happened. Such were the woes of one who found excitement in combat. Assigned to protect a high value merchant from a foreign country, one would think that there would be plenty targeting his client, but as it turned out— he and a partner, he had yet to meet, were not the only ones tasked with the merchant's safety. Leaf shinobi of a much higher rank had already taken measures to ensure the merchant’s safety from any real threat, he was only to be there in case of emergency. A last line of defense, if the worst case scenario arrived, until then he was simply a decorative piece to calm the mind of the travelling businessman.

Finally arriving at his destination, his golden eyes scanned the area. The band of merchants awaited, though most hid in their palanquins. A set of three Norimono were set on the border’s edge, accompanying them were two servants each to carry the wheel-less vehicle. Among the watchtowers of the border were the watchful eyes of Jonin. He showed his scroll to confirm that he was one of the two assigned to guard the merchants on foot. From the looks of things he had arrived early, maybe too early, but punctuality was a trait of his that he regarded as a virtue. Everything had been set in place, all that awaited for the travel was his partner for the mission. The Hibana stood tall, a hand in his sheathed blade. Although unlikely, he was ready for any and all threats that were to come his way.

Tamago's day usually started early. On top of her regular duties as a shinobi, there were certain sections of her father's conglomerate that she oversaw. She had to lighten her load of work when she moved to Konoha, but there were still several deals with third party suppliers and vendors that she supervised. She had asked her father to let her keep control over Yasuda Steel and its technology division. She had plans for the company, after all. In any case, she could only dedicate a few hours of her day to this task. She had to trust that her employees would follow her directives to the letter. It was why she went ahead and planned for unforeseen circumstances, so that they wouldn't have to contact her if something happened. That, and her father always receive d a copy of her instructions so that he could enforce them himself.

Today was an exception, though. She was going on a mission, after all, which would take up her entire day and need her full dedication. She had been summoned to the administration building the day before to receive this assignment. She hadn't met with the Lord Hokage himself, but with one of his assistants instead. She knew better than to feel insulted at not being led to see the man. He was a busy person and handing out assignments to every Genin himself would be an inefficient waste of his time. Still, orders were orders and they had to be obeyed.

"Yasuda-san," the man had begun. "You have been personally requested by a client. You are to escort him and his caravan to a designated location. You will have a partner in this, although there are no foreseen threats. The road ahead is clear of anything meaningful, but the businessman still asked for added security just in case," he had explained.

Tamago received a set of written instructions with more detail before leaving. She went over them ad the moment, as she had breakfast in her dining room. It looked rather odd and more empty than usual when she was the only one having breakfast on a table that seated 25 people. Her staff would usually have breakfast with her, but today's schedule was different and they had duties to go about as well. Her only company was Shiro. The butler stood at her side and made sure to refill her cup and bring her more tea whenever she required it. Other than that, they were both quiet.

There was one more preparation she had to attend to before leaving. She had woken up particularly early, knowing that this would take some time. After the dishes were cleared, she extended several scrolls in front of her and began to draw. Three of them should be enough, she thought - one Rat, one Dragon, one Dog. For the task ahead, they would do. Her ink brush glided swiftly over the paper. While she could do this in a heartbeat during battle, this ensured that she could add more detail and waste less time when she needed it most.

After she was done, she set off towards the meeting place. She would arrive a few minutes early, by her calculations, despite living in the outskirts of the village. She only hoped that her partner would do the same. If the client wanted to take his time, so be it, but they shouldn't have to be late because of their escorts.

Arriving upon the scene, the young heiress was immediately put off. The palanquins were a gaudy show of wealth when a carriage would be far more practical. She had never liked the things and her parents both agreed that it was quite... nuveau riche. She looked around and saw a young man armed with a sword that she assumed would be her partner. Assuming that he didn't know sign language, she introduced herself by writing in the air.

"My name is Yasuda, Tamago. I will be your partner during this mission," it read. She didn't clarify that the letters were a replacement for the voice she had never had. The young man could draw up his own conclusions. She owed no one an explanation, the way she saw it. And if they ever asked, her facial expression made it clear that she didn't quite like the question at all. It was rude, akin to asking a blind person they had just met how they lost their sight. Not that her disability - and how she despised calling it that - was in any way comparable. On most days, she handled herself just fine.
