The morning after the final fight in the Chuunin Exams Nova would up sore and tired, though she was filled with a renewed vigor. Her back was bruised from the finale to the battle, her net had caught Izumi as Izumi's bolt of raiton had blasted into Kurogokegamu destroying it as well as sending Nova flying. She would sit up slowly, her back aching as she made her way slowly to the shower to prepare for her day. Her wardrobe had always been sparse, but during her final fight her kimono had been ruined and she intended to replace it before leaving Kumo. As she did the menial tasks to prepare for one's day she considered briefly how others might see her now that she were the winner of the exams. Before the beginning of the exams and trials she had been nothing but a genin refugee from Suna, now she joined the ranks of Chuunin along with some of her peers and reigned victor in the battles. Noone had known her name or who she was before her entrance upon the exams. She smiled to herself, a little more confident in her abilities, even if it were through and unconventional means. While grabbing her soft knit dress from her wardrobe, she looked to the empty corner beside it somberly. Kurogokegamu had served her well through her exams and trials, though Izumi's powerful jutsu had damaged it beyond use. It was a large task ahead of her to repair the damaged puppet, one that she would dedicate herself after recovering.
After sliding a pale green halter dress on she sat on the bed and secured her wooden leg in place. Doing the several straps that held it in place for her, she ran her hand over the wood. The mahogany wood was once smooth and blemish-less, but now it was marred with several burns and scrapes. Even the Suna headband plate that she had yet to remove was scratched deeply she noted as she bound the Kiri headband over it. Scrunching her nose she knew she ought to replace it but still she found it hard to remove that small connection to where she had grown up. She stood slowly, stretching her arms and shoulders over her, then tying her hair up into a ponytail that hung well down her back. The auburn waves rippled smoothly to the lovely light teal that colored the bottom half of her hair. Smoothing her dress, she slipped her feet into a pair of black flats that were well worn and comfortable before heading out the door and down the short stairway into the streets of Kumo that she had become so comfortable with. She headed off in the direction of the market, having left later than normal she decided to forego her morning tea and breakfast at Cloud Nine.
It was just before noon as she stepped into the shopping district, sun bright on a beautiful cloudless day with a brisk breeze. As Nova walked through the crowded stalls there would be the occasion person who would point to her in excitement as they noticed the victor of the Chuunin exams wandering through the streets. Smiling and blushing to herself when she caught sight of them, she was somewhat glad that she didn't have Kurogokegamu with her; a giant spider puppet would increase the attention she would receive hundredfold at least. Nova kept her head down slightly to hide the rosy blush that spread across her pale cheeks at the attention that she was not accustomed to as she beelined for the stall of her favorite embroiderer. This was where she had purchased her spider-decorated kimono that she mourned the loss of and intended to replace, as well as acquiring a few more pieces for her wardrobe.
She arrived at the vendor she sought, located in no more than a small canvas shade overhand made of printed cloths. Nova smiled as she saw the elderly lady who ran the shop, she had been the one to personally embroider the spider kimono that she sported for most of the exams. The lady greeted her warmly and her face lit up as Nova approached, and she reached down under a heavily laden table to pull out a small wrapped box. “I watched your fight yesterday and saw that your kimono was ruined, last night I embroidered another one as a small gift in congratulations. Though I intended to deliver it sometime in the next few days this is far more convenient.”, the white haired lady spoke as she gently placed the parcel in Nova's hands and gestured to the mirror that was mounted in front of the shop. Nova smiled at the unexpected gift brightly and hugged the old woman, thanking her profusely. Nearly skipping over to the mirror she unwrapped the box and pulled the silk from its wrappings. It was the same emerald-black that she had selected before, and she rolled the silk in her hands, marveling at its glossy sheen in the sun. Holding it up against her she noticed that the spiders that were carefully hand embroidered across the sleeves each bore a small crimson hourglass as did Kurogokegamu. A small detail that it did not bear before were several small silver strings leading from each spider to the hem, creating a shimmering lace-like web design along the edges of the garment. She slid her arms into the sleeves and smiled even more radiantly, posing in several different postures in the mirror in front of the shop and not paying mind to the eyes from the passing crowd that might be upon her. The kimono draped elegantly from her shoulders as she admired it in the mirror, the pale green dress underneath hugging her form flatteringly.
