Finally, Chigetsu had managed to descend back down from the mountains. As the quarter-finals finished the three arenas that had been used were discarded, abandoned in favor of Kumogakure's grand Genbu Tortoise. It made no sense at all that this creature that was very clearly a turtle was being called a tortoise, but in the moment Chigetsu couldn't be bothered to question this. Finally getting a chance to descend from the great mountain that Kumogakure rested on the peak of was a great relief, and he was eager to scurry from the village down to the coastline as quickly as he could. It was unlikely that these mountain dwellers from Kumogakure truly knew the difference between turtles and tortoises anyway, and Chigetsu probably shouldn't be the one to correct them.  The intensity of the Cloud was just too much for him. Everything about it was too extreme and anxiety inducing for him, especially when combined with the altitude sickness he had been experiencing. Really, who's idea was it to build a village at the top of a mountain anyway?

With the aura of Kumogakure left far behind him, the Black Tortoise Genbu was something he was much more comfortable with. It was incredibly impressive to see a creature of its size. It nearly seemed like a living, mobile island as it traversed the Land of Lightning's coastline. The breeze of the sea coated the land on the tortoise's back, bringing a pleasant salty scent to Chigetsu's nostrils that reminded him very much of home. His previous nausea receded entirely as he reverted down to a more familiar habitat. The center of the tortoise's shell housed the arena in which the next portion of the Chunin exams would take place, a grand colosseum built specifically for the purpose of housing Chuunin Exams. It contained a bit of that same aura that Kumogakure contained, a grand and outrageous intensity that crackled through the air like static. It would make the little Hozuki tremble as he entered into the colosseum.

It was a mistake signing up for these exhibition matches. Volunteering to represent Kirigakure no Sato in the arena in order to provide entertainment to the crowds seemed like an excellent idea to Chigetsu at the time. He had come to gain further experience for himself by watching the contestants, so taking part in a little bit of the action himself would just be a natural extension of that. It was much too overwhelming though. Even when only half filled, the massive coliseum arena contained more people than he had ever seen in his entire life. Their cheering and idle noise from the spectators would flow downwards into the arena, creating a harsh and discordant mixture of unrecognizable sounds that assaulted from every direction. Now that he was stepping into the arena there was nothing that Chigetsu wanted to do but leave as soon as possible. Either that or cover up his ears and break down into sobbing.

In an attempt to calm his trembling legs and shaking nerves, the Hozuki boy would take an analytic glance around the battlefield. Translucent red barriers surrounded the circular arena in its entirety. They were likely to protect the audience from any stray jutsu, but Chigetsu desperately wished they had added some sort of noise filtering effect on them as well. The ground they were to fight on was steady, with the stone panels beneath them. The entire arena was bare and inoffensive, with little to hide behind. This sort of environment was likely good for Chigetsu to fight in, but at the same time hiding was something that felt incredibly appealing right now.

Chigetsu would steady his trembling legs as he approached the center of the arena. When around roughly five meters from the diving line he would stop his ascent and plant his feet firmly in the ground with the most confidence he could muster. His kunai would be held tight in his right hand, pointed towards the opposing entrance that his unknown opponent would be entering from.

Entertainment. As long as mankind has known the pleasure of it, the pursuit for any and all ways to express it has been rabidly sought out by humans, whether it be simply gazing at the moonlight clouds, or participating in a gladiator battle to the death. Today, another form of it would take place, within the stone laden arena upon the Black Tortoise, Genbu, a constantly moving part of wildlife that just so happened to have the size of a huge island, allowing for civilization or otherwise to take place on its near impenetrable shell. Exhibition Matches taking place before the Semi-Finals were set here - one of their many battle arenas within the Village of Kumogakure - in order to satisfy the battle lust of the world's hungry spectators. At this day, at this hour, the two chosen for the task of pleasing society were Chigetsu Hōzuki, a white-haired Genin representing Kirigakure; and Lynn Uchiha, the green-haired Genin representing Kumogakure itself.

Lynn was never really one for battle, in the long run, for any mistake he made on the field while at such a pitiful level of strength is almost a death sentence for him. Having hemophilia, on top of being frail and sightless, put him at a major disadvantage against even his own peers; a simple cut could be unclotted for hours, and a strong enough blow could cripple him indefinitely. Despite this, he served his villagers diligently up to this point, and he was going to end this game this very day, whether he was forced to or was able to do it on his own terms, as he prefered. As much as he cared for the art of war, he would be lying if he denied the enjoyment of adrenaline pumping through his veins, and the smooth feel of a pommel in his hands. Sadly, he wouldn't have his cherished scimitars with him, for as of now he was currently getting them refurbished. This time he'd be left alone with a single Kunai, a single Senbon, his Jutsu, and his keen intellect to dominate the fight. Not that he had any intention to win; having a handicap may serve as fun for him, after all.

With the time nearing dusk, the sun's orange glimmers barely lit the plated arena, with its blood red barriers and stable footing. Soon the lamplight would replace it to help visitors see, leaving no advantage in the dark. Not that it would have helped anyway, unless fighting someone who relied on their eyesight. An anomaly among his kind, Lynn was not plagued by such sense, and relied on everything else at his disposal. It only disadvantaged him that he had no way of telling whether cover was available, or if it was a plain, open field. Soon he would figure out, whether it's the easy way or a knock into a stone pillar. All the young Uchiha knew was that he was walking out of the opposite exit of Chigetsu, drawing out his kunai to prepare for their inevitable duel, and staring out into the open with his sharp, deadly looking, pale green eyes. For now, Lynn hid; the Hunter came out to play, and it craved its prey. He would not seek them out, though; they would come to him soon enough. His position would be around the very edge of the stage boundaries on his side, thirty meters away from his opponent. Once he managed to catch any single noise, scent or otherwise, he would be on Chigetsu like a cobra springing at an innocent rabbit.

"Lets see what you have in store for me, in my final fight, dear enemy."

Muttering these final words before the starting announcement was called, Lynn now stood alert, focusing his ears purely on determining Chigetsu's location. He was unsure of how close he really was, but that didn't make him a sitting duck just yet. The Uchiha wasn't going to concede until he showed the crowd, and his fellow combatant, what he could do without his clan's Kekkei Genkai; or sight in general. It was up to the other Genin to make the first move, and hope to the gods above it does anything, assuming its an attack. If he knew what's good for him, he would make sure not to underestimate a lack of sight. The unassuming are always the deadliest.

Narrowed crimson eyes would stare down the new entrance to the arena of flattened stones. The tightness in the grip of his kunai had turned the pale skin of his palm a rosy red. Even before the match had begun sweat would be freely seeping out of his pores, coating the Hozuki boy with a sticky feeling of self-disgust. The presence of the audience threw a thick blanket of anxiety over his already tight bundle of nerves. What little façade of confidence he had evaporated as soon as he caught the first sight of his opponent entering the arena. The Exhibition Match was very quickly rivaling a life or death situation with how tightly it was making Chigetsu clench up. The tighter he squeezed his hand around the handle of his knife the more slippery it seemed to get, and then he would only squeeze tighter.

"Calm yourself, Chigetsu." The steady whispers of his kunai would waft up into his mind, sweeping away the smoke of his own nerves. With the attention of poten, ially thousands Chigetsu would not dare attempt to respond to the voices emanating from his weapon, but he would heed its voice as he always did. "Do not let the swelling of your throat choke your mind. Take each breath chasing the scent of glory."

The trembling in the boy's legs would be calmed as the young girl drew out their kunai. The sharp gaze coming from his opponent greatly intimidated him, but their presence of another blade was enough to seal down the anxiety that was previously threatening to spill out from the male's heart. Even with the presence of a thousand pairs of eyes analyzing his every movement, a knife fight brought with it a sort of simplicity that the boy could take comfort in. A luxurious familiarity.

The starting announcement rang out.

Chigetsu had been prepared to defend himself. His nervousness prevented him from going out and taking initiative as he should have and had prepared himself to do. From his green haired opponent would come nothing. Not an initial attack or charge forward as Chigetsu had suspected. The two of them would simply stand in place, both unwilling to make the initial move.

The boy's patience would last for about thirty seconds. The lack of movement or actions had thoroughly spooked him, beyond what he already was. The kunai he had been clenching tight in his fist would be placed up into his mouth, using his teeth to hold the handle and introducing the incredibly unpleasant taste of his palm sweat to his tongue. Gross. His dripping hands would be focused down into the shape of several hand signs. Even with how deeply he was trembling his hands were able to flash into their shapes through muscle memory. Tiger. Ox. Ram. Tiger. With that string of four he managed to stream the hand signs necessary for the casting of two jutsu at once. Immediately his liquid form would begin to twist. Two blobs of water would shift out of the boy's sides, shifting and squeezing until they formed perfect replicas of his own arms that attached themselves right below where his original pair were. His hands, still connected in the tiger sign, would begin to shift as well. Quickly reforming their liquid content into a much more battle appropriate form, what had been arms would be replaced entirely with a pair of deviously long squid-like tentacles. Each contained a series of dangerously sharp looking teethed suckers on their undersides, and as they unfurled from their positioning their length would be revealed. His left tentacle would snatch the sweat and saliva coated kunai from his teeth on its way out, twisting and curling its tip around the handle before the pair would stretch in a slightly curved fashion. It almost appeared as if he were preparing to give Lynn a very strange hug. Each would stretch to their full ten meters in length, draping a pair of lengthy shadows across the arena.

The pair of secondary, non-tentacle arms that had been created would begin to work themselves, weaving their own quick hand signs. In the process of this the male would finally move himself, finally beginning his charge towards his enemy. He would dash at his full speed, sprinting at a brisk six meters per second on his forward charge. The other jutsu that his artificial arms had prepared would be called out now. Chakra would flood into his mouth quickly, and as he kneaded it with his tongue two condensed spheres of water would form. Once he dashed within range of the Kumogakure genin, something that would only take him two and a half seconds at his current speed, both of these balls would be released with an explosive force from between his lips. With one aimed at the center of Lynn's chest and the other towards his stomach, their speed would result in it taking a second to travel the distance to where the genin had originally been standing. Should Lynn move from his original positioning, Chigetsu would turn compensate his aim accordingly, firing the both of them as soon as he got into range. His extended tentacles would reach out as he continued his dash towards the male, ready to strike out assuming they would get close enough. His forward dash would be maintained until he got within striking distance, or something else convinced him to stop.

"...Ah, there you are! Couldn't take the silence for too long, could you? Then let the real fight begin, and duel as though it's for our lives!"

As talented as some would call Lynn, this Uchiha truly wasn't prepared for the monster of close combat he was about to face. It's not like he could react, nor know what in the world Chigetsu was doing, so why should he even feel fear? There was one part of the Hozuki's attack plan that Lynn was able to decipher, however; projectiles came his way, and from the whistle they made as they flew through the air, he could tell they aimed for his chest and belly, all while sprinting his way with whatever else they set up for the unfortunate green-haired youth. At the moment, though, the water shots were the current concern.

Lynn would rush straight towards the Ninjutsu, at around three meters per second, encasing his kunai knife with a soft, fine layer of chakra, before doing a sliding kick motion, and slicing upwards, sending his wave of energy at the shot originally aiming for his stomach. Due to his actions, the defensive maneuver clashed with the tummy shot, dispersing it entirely, alongside itself, while he dodged the one aiming for his pecs with the limbo-like movements he undertook. With a satisfied sound escaping his lips, he'd spring up, at the moment ten meters away from being clobbered by six pairs of limbs and a kunai. The watery sounds he began to hear disturbed him, but the crafty boy had his own tricks up his sleeves, hopefully enough to buy him time from his opponent.

Moving his limbs into position, his hands made the traditional Tiger seal common with all known Katon jutsu, trying to make sure they were directly in front of Chi's eyes, before moving using his best sleight of hand techniques to activate the Monkey Hand seal. Then, building up his vile yin and fire chakras within his chest, and up into his throat, he'd bile out a giant ball of fire, five meters in diameter, eventually becoming a flamethrower as it dispersed a meter out his lips. The sheer intensity of the flames seemed to crack the ground around them, as they traversed twenty meters per second at the unfortunate Hozuki. Now, normally such flames shouldn't scare a water user like him...

But these weren't ordinary flames.

In truth, they weren't flames at all; they might even be nothing, if Chigetsu were to look away as Lynn performed his hand seals. But, assuming he did, the Uchiha's actions were mere illusion; fires made out of his own mind from the tricks he made with hs Genjutsu. No matter what water that tries to douse these infernal flames, it won't go out. And if the trick is not figured out, Chigetsu will feel the agony of minor second-degree burns anywhere it hit exposed skin; especially the face. Nothing may happen in actuality, but the mind was easy to trick, and a much more potent weapon to use against someone than a simple blade or actual fireball, in Lynn's case. Hopefully Chigetsu would be too scared to see through the ruse, if he was lucky...or Lynn would be find out, and be opened up to a wicked hug of blade and slimy limbs.

For his sake, he hoped the former was true.

A big toothy smile would appear on the boy's face as he heard what his enemy called out to him. It was a bit strange how they phrased it, but Chigetsu was completely ready to fight as if his life was on the line. With much of his earlier anxiety being replaced by adrenaline, he was able to smile in earnest as he charged towards Lynn Uchiha. The weights were beginning to be lifted off of him. Lynn's charge right towards his water gunshots provoked only more excitement. Whatever this person's plan was, Chigetsu was incredibly eager.

What had been fear and nervousness only moments ago turned into giddiness as he watched the Uchiha slash and duck from his water bullets. Whatever technique that had been used to slash one of the bullets apart looked somewhat similar to his Reversal Jutsu, although one that was obviously less effective judging by how it did not similarly reflect the projectile.

The subsequent spring up back to being standing would be followed up by the spread-out tentacles. Preemptively they move to follow the boy's movements, even while they were not in range. Any twists or turns that he made in trying to maneuver would be quickly prepared for, and Chigetsu was ready and anticipating it. In his mind Chigetsu could already see how he wanted this to go down. It wouldn't be that hard to simply nick them somewhere vital as soon as they came into range with his Anemone Technique. That was what he was planning for and the best-case scenario for the Hozuki boy, but unfortunate it didn't play out as he imagined.

Lynn's hands maneuvering into quick hand signs was caught clearly by Chigetsu. As soon as the initial tiger sign would be woven by Lynn the boy would retaliate with a two-pronged response. The extra pair of hands that the boy had created with jutsu would sweep into his belt pouch and thrown a shuriken in Lynn's direction, just around the same time the giant ball of fire was leaving the male's lips. Off to the side Chigetsu's left tentacle would undulate, and in the process toss the kunai in Lynn's direction as well.

The great ball of fire would easily consume the shuriken. From Chigetsu's perspective it would appear as if the shuriken had simply been knocked aside by the sheer force of the ball of flames. In truth the non-physical form that the genjutsu took meant that the shuriken simply continued on its path towards Lynn without any change, but Chigetsu was completely unaware of this truth. The direction the shuriken had been thrown from, off from Chigetsu's left tentacle, meant that it would avoid the illusionary fireball on its path towards Lynn. This was completely irrelevant though, as the faux-fireball would have done nothing to stop it.

As the nature of the flamethrower become apparent Chigetsu would pucker his lips. With his Water Release: Gunshot still being active he would be able to knead two more compressed balls of water inside his mouth and fire them just the same as he had earlier. He had nothing to fear from flames, especially with this jutsu active. Chigetsu shot two compressed water balls out to meet it, one right after the other. He had expected the first to negate the fireball through its nature as a suiton technique and create a path for the second to travel through and then hit where he had seen Lynn last before. His tentacles would begin to move in from each side, ready to snatch Lynn up. Their movement had two purposes, as them reaching in from both sides would serve to cut off the amount of space Lynn had to dodge. It was a very solid plan.

Unfortunately, it did not work. The fireball would simply appear to consume the bullets of compressed water as they had with the shuriken. Chigetsu did not have time to react to this with anything other than confusion before the fireball slammed into his face. The flames would bathe directly over his body and seem to light the boy's form entirely ablaze. Chigetsu would start screaming, and in the foreign pain of being set on fire the male would lose his balance. His sprint forward would collapse and he would fall to the ground of the arena. His clone arms confusedly flailed about. The arms shared sensory information with their user, although with the added ability of having their own sensation of touch in addition to the Chigetsu's. They were able to feel the pain effecting Chigetsu multiplied by two, as they had also been caught under the genjutsu when Chigetsu had saw it. The tentacles which had been earlier so ready to grab Lynn would completely lose their focus, flailing about wildly as Chigetsu squirmed on the ground.

The boy would quickly attempt to roll back and forth over the stone tiles, vaguely having remembered seeing this as being something that people were supposed to do when they were set on fire.

Success came in many forms this day for Lynn, as modest as he would try to be against the odds. He had no way of knowing it was mostly from luck - as he didn't know that Chigetsu was a Hozuki - but his ruse had worked to full effect. The Genin before him sprawled and cried in his faked pain, helpless to his Genjutsu and open for the killing blow. At least, it would be a killing blow, had they been true enemies; this was not a fight to the death, after all. Despite this, there was an unfortunate downside to all of this simply being illusion, even if that was the only way a Hozuki would be affected by such low rank Katon jutsu...projectiles won't clash with it.

So, before Lynn was able to enjoy anything about his actions, they had to deal with a simple shuriken, and two more of those blasted Water Gunshots. As he was focused on his fraudulent flames, rather than his own danger, his body only barely reacted in time from the whistle of the wind piercing his ears as they closed in. Stopping the stream of fire pre-maturely, Lynn raised his arms in a cross position, ready to take on the attacks full force, as he had no time to focus his chakra into any defensive measures, nor could he dodge them. That was when the pain began, which would make him realize it was time to concede sooner than he had hoped.

First, the shuriken would find its mark onto the middle of Lynn's right forearm, piercing one and a half inches deep. It most definitely started to make him bleed - a little more than most would - and brought a grunt of pain out of him. What's more, these Water Gunshots were going to be a lot more deadly than they really should be. The first one slammed into the metal stuck within him, furthering its insertion, about an inch more...with the last gunshot doing the same exact thing; tearing through his skin like paper. It truly was a predicament; there was no way he'd be able to do normal jutsu anymore with that hand, with steel deep inside him at three and a half inches. It was going to take him a while to clot the blood, for damn sure...screw hemophilia.

After biting down hard on his lip, just to feign toughness against his truly painful situation, he let down his arms, hiding the damaged one behind his back. Letting out a deep sigh, he strolled over to Chigetsu's rolling form, slamming his heel onto the boy's kneecap just to keep him in place. It wouldn't hurt too much, maybe leave a light bruise, but it was to assert his 'dominance' in the exchange. At that moment, he'd then kneel down, placing a hand on their opposite leg and sending a surge of chakra through him. In truth, this was Kai - Genjutsu Dissipation - so the flames that hurt him so was to disappear rather quickly. Especially so, since this was a Genjutsu of his own design; it would be impossible for him not to know its composition, or not use enough fuel to stop it. After this, he spoke, with no source of sarcasm, bitterness, or even pride; only matter of factly.

"This battle is over. I'm conceding...we saw what happened. I doubt we wouldn't last much longer anyway. You saw what my Genjutsu can do. Take your victory and leave with a clear conscious." Yes, that's right, everyone! I, Lynn, concede this match! I'm taking my leave now!"

And so, that was it. The Uchiha Clan, known for their antics, would have never done this in the past; they fought to the bitter end, and always boasted of their strength, as far as Lynn knew. But he wasn't like that; Lynn knew that if he had tried to continue on, he wouldn't last. The bleeding was too bad, and there was no way he was going to be able to make his hand seals at a fast pace. Chi might have been able to see the blood dripping behind him, but the young man wasn't letting it off if he could help it. He was ending the battle on his terms.

Without any second thought or regrets, he ran off out of the arena, ready to seek medical help as soon as possible.

The boy's rolling would be paused by the sudden presence of a heel slamming down onto his knee. It snapped him out of his pain induced rolling across the stone tiles for a moment, locking him in place and preventing any more of that panicking. As much as he wanted to continue, the rolling around on the ground to put out the fire didn't seem to really be having any sort of effect whatsoever. Whatever this fire was, it somehow was burning happily on a man made entirely out of water, so perhaps Chigetsu should have expected that the rolling back and forth wouldn't matter whatsoever. His knee would squish ever so slightly beneath the foot that stepped down on it, and Chigetsu would be forced to stare up at the face of his opponent. Through the fire that was currently burning all over his face, Chigetsu would barely be able to make out the features of the male above him. Bright green hair and pale green eyes. He would squint his eyes, attempting to make out what he could of the other person's face.

And then the pain went away. The fire receeded, acting as if it had never been there in the first place. The burns that Chigetsu had felt covering his skin, feeling as if though the water itself that made up his body was experiencing burns, completely disappear. Everything would collapse into nothingness, and Chigetsu would feel nothing. He would be left on his back on the ground, staring up at Lynn. The position that Chigetsu was in now seemed fairly vulnerable, compared to where Lynn was.

"This battle is over. I'm conceding...we saw what happened. I doubt we wouldn't last much longer anyway. You saw what my Genjutsu can do. Take your victory and leave with a clear conscious. Yes, that's right, everyone! I, Lynn, concede this match! I'm taking my leave now!"

Genjutsu? The word rang in his ears. The fact that he would face a genjutsu that appeared so simply and exactly as a ninjutsu would had caught him off guard. While they had taught him how to break out of genjutsu within the Kirigakure Academy, Chigetsu had never actually experienced being in one. His own foolishness immediately slammed into him like the weight of a freight train. It had ended so quickly. Chigetsu was still ready to fight, still willing. Even in this position, he could so easily snatch the boy up with his tentacles or get off a quick hit with his Sea Urchin Technique. Given that Lynn had already surrendered though, there wouldn't be much point to continuing the fight. It would just reflect badly on Chigetsu.

The jutsu that he had used to maintain the tentacles and extra pair of arms would be released, collapsing into a small puddle of water that surrounded him. On the ground. With Lynn turning away and removing his foot, Chigetsu would sit up. As he watched the other man leave, Chigetsu's expression would slowly twist into a scowl. This wasn't an ending he could be satisfied with. If Lynn had simply beat him then Chigetsu would have been able to accept that, but getting caught off guard with a trick and then having his enemy surrender felt incredibly cowardly. Why hadn't Lynn taken the opportunity to beat him around while Chigetsu was rolling on the ground? It felt entirely hollow, especially with getting a victory that he probably didn't deserve.

Chigetsu would stand. Slowly he would move to exit the arena.
