Tenjin

Tenjin

D-rank
Mission:
On the way to Explore the Mountain City, Tenjin was assigned into a group of genins with its captain being some girl named Sakura. The group has scaled mountains and traversed the low valleys between said mountains. Tenjin is travelling to gather information on Iwagakures ruins, but the mountains are so high that he does not wish to rise to an altitude with dangerous oxygen supply for very long. Keeping his own well-being in mind, Tenjin spent more time in the lower regions though they take more time to traverse as they possess curves and detours. The delay of their arrival is clearly worth keeping Tenjin alive but he didnt know how Sakura was going to take it. Tenjin was able to climb up the mountain and reach the group as he then asked Sakura for her opinion on a subject.

“Sakura, would you rather we remain in the low altitude areas or rise to a mountain path to eat?” Tenjin inquires as the group unpack their camp site and prepare for lunch.

“If we climb the mountain and eat here, near the ruins, it may be a little uncomrtable but the time of the mission will be cut by a great amount.” Her response is not one which Tenjin expected. She shows her care for him exists as a group leader, yet it is unspoken.

“Alright, we will eat here then.”

When the group finished eating and arrived at their destination, Iwagakure’s ruins, they are met with what is to be expected: a large area where a village had once stood mightily now decimated and changed nearly beyond recognition. The group is even unable to distinguish the uses of each building. There was large rocks bordering the village, rocks ranging from one third of a meter to a full meter in width. These must have fallen from atop the surrounding mountain ranges due to time which further destroyed the area. As for the entrygates, where the group currently find themselves, nothing can be said of them as they do not exist, only the base of what used to be pillars on the right and left side of the road.

Tenjin, Sakura, Hanzo and Seto proceed forward with their senses sharp and their defenses up as they began mapping the area around them together. When the group reached a church which appeared to have the most in tact pieces, Tenjin believed Seto should stay back and gather more information and thus he asked Sakura. “Sakura, don't you think we should get more information on this building. As destroyed as it is, we can at least distinguish it as a church.” After a quick discussion, Seto’s name was brought up as he stayed behind to map the area. Should this hunch prove correct, this church must have been built to withstand the test of time, if only for a time like this. On the way to center of this place, Tenjin had explained to his teammates what to expect from Seto in terms of what he will be finding. Hanzo soon requested to check the villages suer system as he knows a thing or two about the system, this was enough to ensure Sakura’s approval. With Sakura being the leader on this mission, Hanzo has been assigned this task. Knowing that he will likely be the one member to stay with Sakura, ease comes over Tenjin’s mind.

Hanzo will do his job well, and should Seto. I will be working directly with Sakura in order to find the location in which the leader of the village rested. Nothing will go wrong, we just had to look for the most fortified building. Tenjin continues to think as he walks along a faded road and peeks around corners. He’s with Sakura with the two of them walking in a line a meter or so between them. Sakura then began to nervously speak, “You know, this is a smooth situation. All I should worry about is research, I dont think anybody will attack us here. If research is all we’re doing, the team will never be in any danger. That’s all... just be quick.” This may be the first team shes in charge of and doesnt want any harm to come to them.

Hanzo’s voice interrupts Tenjin’s thoughts. “I found something, it appears like the sewers system was quite advanced for their time. They collected their rainwater and used it as extra water while filtering the sysme and even bring their waste to a wastewater treatment plant in order to clence the water before returning it back to suicide lake which is miles away from here. All of this is underground.”

“We have entered the range of mountains further beyond the village. It appears like the main building is not distinguishable at all..” Sakura said, her words directed at Tenjin.

Tenjin stops walking as do the rest of them. He gazes upward at the mountain range in the distance and contemplates how this might affect their success. In the end, he determines that the terrain is still greatly mapped as proven by Hanzo’s findings. After this much time under the sun, Seto must be ready to report his findings as well.

In this instance, as Tenjin and the team moved to the outskirts of the area, Tenjin makes multiple assumptions in regards to the location of the head of the village. “SInce their sewer system is that advanced, who’s to say that the village doesnt have habitats underground? And with extreme caution, the group sought to find an entry underground. While this comes from a good place and has proposed to find something, in actuality, Tenjin wants to be done with this mission and go home. He is fortunate to have Sakura make her suggestions to him. Without her, Tenjin would waste time wandering in the areas.

Into the center of the ruins they again trek. No care is taken to whther Seto is looking for us as Sakura has expressed her indifference as to how much time the group is spent separated. That fact is a relief to Tenjin as it allows him to to just search for valuable information without being held back, again, should he even find something, we will probably also find something of equal interest to the higher ranks.

Half of an hour passes and not a trace of an underground habitable system, recognizable or otherwise, has been sensed by any member of the group. Seto is nowhere near the area already and Tenjin realizes this and advises that the group find the young shinobi to put together all of our intel. Realizing this, Sakura moves forward to have a word with him. Hanzo is farthest behind, mapping unmarked areas. Tenjin stands in front with Sakura close behind him. The two converse.

“I dont think Seto stayed in the church..” Tenjin comments first.

“Do you have any ideas as to where he could’ve gone if not there?” A simple question.

“I do. We head to the entrance, where we came from. I would say that those ruins have a better chance of us getting lost trying to find him, and he’s a smart shinobi. Odds are that he found religious traces there, and religion seems to be one of Seto’s most knowledgeable source of study.”

With Tenjin finished speaking, Sakura responds. “Well, then lets go to where Seto is said to be.” Tenjin turns back to continue with Sakura. “Alright, lets go Hanzo.” Sakura said.

“Good. Let’s start heading out.” Hanzo replies back.

While leaving the ruins, The group sees Seto waiting for them by the entry point. He begins to ramble on about the fact that the church was of that almighty Jashin. “This village must have been a group of Jashin followers. It is incredible because in my whole life studying I have never heard of a Jashin society living in the outskirt of the Land of Stone. This is a great discovery and im positive that the higher ranks will admire the extra step we took in mapping the location to also gather intel on the ruins.” The group merged their intel together and was able to determine that this mission was a great success. Soon after, the group began walking out of the ruins and into the mountains as their next point will be the zoning commision in order to give them the information that was collected. Tenjin travelled with the group as they began to run and quickly dart down the mountain side. Hanzo was given the responsibility of holding all of the intel as the rest of the group travelled in triangle formation around the information.

Before the group was able to reach their point they ran into an Iwagakure ANBU. The ANBU then began to speak, “You young shinobi did well. I have already relayed the information that the mission was a success, so no need to report back. You may go home, and i’ll take the intel off your hands.” This was Sakuras first mission and she was trying to finish it to the end. “No. We were given a task when the mission is com…” Before she was able to finish, in an instant the ANBU dashed and grabbed the intel and jumped back to where he was standing. “I dont have time for this. You four did well. You will be receiving your mission payment via mail. I’m sure this should go without saying, but dont tell anybody about what you found in this mission.” The ram sign was then made by the ANBU as his body turned to stone and cracked, as it is apparent that this is a custom body flicker technique. The group then discussed how amazing that was while Sakura stayd quite and apparently md throughout the rest of the travels.
