Mission Name: In the house of Buddha?
Mission Rank: EVENT
Objective: Convince the Hitotsume-Nyūdō that you are a highly pious individual in order to get rewards for your holiness.
Location: Namahage Festival
Reward: 10 Tickets
Mission Description: In a quiet corner of the Namahage festival sits a small temple. Inside is a Hitotsume-Nyūdō or Blue Monk. These giant cyclopean creatures are devout followers of Buddha and thus the particular individual who has set up shop there is attempting to turn those in the festival away from the opulence and debauchery that the rest of the yokai love so much. Those who stumble in need to convince the monk exactly how little they are enjoying the festival , how devout to Buddha they are by reciting mantras and meditation and by donating gifts to the offering box.
Mission Details: The monk while eager to win converts is no fool. It is much easier to fool him if the character applying does in fact practice some form of Buddhism. Other than that it is all up the characters acting skills.
Hanbei had seen the monks a second time, and it seemed, as usual, they were an unhappy group of men. Although, in an attempt to kill 2 birds with one stone, it was by fortune alone that he was able to link the nature of the nekomata that were stealing things from the village to the monks themselves, in asking them for a deed in order to prove himself pious enough for them to give shelter to the cats, he was indeed proving his worth under buddha in their eyes. Though the task was not going to be menial, they had asked hanbei to leave them for some time so they would be able to deliberate one of their many holy trials, yet at the end none of them could come to a single conclusion. Hanbei, using this time tot alk to the leaders of the cat groups returned to them only to be given a choice out of three of them all. One of them involved braving the flames from a great lung. Another was one of the pilgrimage mountain climbs while the third was to enter with one of them in a drinking contest and to see who would ultimately win... His first reaction to the dragonfire was absolutely not, though the other two he thought would be fine in the scheme of things...
Putting it to a vote, and seeming to unanimously want to see hanbei get plastered on peach wine, habei would sit down at a table and be presented with several small glasses of the wine. It seemed that while they both had to drink vessels of the wine, the cups were somewhat to scale, the massive monk before hanbei having flaggons to hanbei's glasses. But, not wanting to be shown up, Hanbei would question the decision, looking to them all and asking what kind of challenge this was, that they weren't givent he same vessels. Hanbei could hear the impressed nature of the monks as the vessels were filled, and soon, the challenge would begin.
