Mission name: What Do You Actually Even Do Around Here?
Mission rank: Event
Objective: Follow the instructions to shape you’re the clay for your mask.
Location: Namahage Festival
Reward: 10 Tickets.
Mission Description: Just when you thought you were out of the woods, the Oni instructs you to shape the clay yourself.
Mission Details: As the ceramist begins clearing a workspace, he will inform you that you will have to shape the clay for your mask yourself. He will then open up a book, plop it down in front of you, revealing two pages of basic mask structure, and immediately fall asleep. He will not wake from his slumber until the task is done, no matter what you do. Use the information available to you from the instruction manual he provides to shape a simple mask. Once your task is complete, the Oni will be woken from his slumber by one of his own snores.

''I WHAT!?'‘

The yell would echo through the local area of the Namahage festival as everything in the area would fall silent for a moment, eyes focusing on the house of the clay working oni as Hanbei would have screamed the exclamation at the top of her fragile lungs, not bothering to cough afterwards as the Oni repeated themselves, pointing to the directions in the book before laying down in the space it had cleared but moments before and falling asleep. What job did this Oni even do!? However, sneaky that Hanbei was, he remembered the pact that they had signed together at the beginning, he had asked for the Oni to make him a mask, and if he had not made him a mask by the end of it, Hanbei would under no circumstance open the tab for him at the local sweet shoppe. So it was that Hanbei would take some time looking through not just the book that he had been given, but also the other masks that lay around the workshop. He'd also find a couple of other books in and around the area that the guanyin would pile up and begin to have a quick read over, opening them all up as he would place his clay in the middle of it all and prepare for what came next.

Fist things first, Hanbei had to make a mould of his face. Looking around the shop he quickly found some rubber and placed his face in it, creating a pretty good looking imprint into the solution before he would make a plaster from the area around him. Hanbei was pretty good when it came to arts and crafts because of his father. Although most of that had been in the field of making silk clothing, it allowed his hands a level of dexterity that most were unable to deal with. He could remember the first time he had to sew a persons' nerves back together. A task that most surgeons found daunting, but because of the fine level of work that he was used to doing with hand stitching silk at ludicrous thread counts, the nerves were so large that he had finished the task quickly and easily without so much as a mistake. Although he had needed some coaching as to the proper practice of doing so and the kinds of stitches that needed to be made... Making a mask, he doubted would be much harder than most. Thinking of the onna style masks of young woman, Hanbei wanted to make a noh mask relating to the bamboo cutter tale of the moon princess. Royal, elegant and beautiful.

'it would be a project, for sure.'

Though hanbei was working with clay he'd have to fire it at high temperatures and ensure it was made right for the clay to take on a porcelain finish according to the books. So, he would follow the wordings to the T. Using his mould to work the clay around it, thinning it where need be to ensure the mask was light and elegant. Using the excess clay he would begin to wind designs and additions onto the mask, pressing them into it with a hand-tool as he would create textured swirls and patterns around the eyes with the cut-offs that had been rolled in mineral salts so that when glazed they would take on other colours other than the matte white of the rest of the mask. Peppering dots of iron and rust were placed around the rest to create a glitter like effect as the heat of the kiln would crystalize the material to create a final finish. At the end of it all, Hanbei would water-treat the mask, assuring that it was clean while leaving it on his plaster mould of his face. finally proud of what he had achieved as he had hoped that it would be everything that he needed. The process, all in all, had taken him the better part of three hours, aside from the hour of reading and finding the books that he had done before hand to give him a crash course in mask making.

"There, it looks like im finally done, im going to go and get something to eat before I eat the ogre..."

A snoring snort from the oni answered his statement as he was still sound asleep. Hanbei taking some time to get some food for himself before coming back and rousing the Oni. Who, upon looking at the mask seemed slightly surprised, saying that the girl had really gone all out with the mask, seeming impressed Hanbei could not help but smile as they seemed to finally be getting somewhere.
