The thunders grounds. Hitomi could usually be found here on her time off. It was a common training arena, and you could find anyone around here from genin to even jounin. The constant lightning storm required the people within the area to be on constant vigilance for lightning strikes, which made for great perception and reaction time training whilst also working on whatever else needed to be worked on. However Hitomi was usually here working on her skills as a medic. Training wasn't always the safest thing, much less training in the thunder grounds. So hitomi could usually be found here patching up other genins wounds or taking care of a pair of chunin after an intense sparing match. It gave her practice in the medical field, and also allowed her to help out her fellow cloud shinobi. Honestly it was a win-win-win for everyone.

However that was not what Hitomi was here today for. Today she was here to train the rest of the people here. Wearing her usual outfit of a red jacket with a black undershirt, black gloves, her Kumogakure headband around her neck, a skirt, and some tights underneath, that with her combat boots, and the bands the girl wore in her silver white hair, and the girl was ready for a day training.

It didn't take long for Hitomi to find an unoccupied spot in the thunder grounds. As popular as the place was it was rather large, and there were still plenty people who preferred safer methods of training, and honestly Hitomi usually would have been right there with them. However today she needed the distraction. The girl was trying to formulate a new Shikigami technique, and those techniques usually required the utmost of attention, as not only did Hitomi need to create the paper necessary from the technique, but she also needed to focus her chakra into control the paper, as well as folding it into perfect shapes. It was something where if you messed up on one step or another the whole thing would fall apart. It was for this reason that Hitomi needed the distraction. She needed to be able to rely on this technique in the heat of combat and couldn't risk it failing. So it needed to be second nature to her.

With that in mind, hitomi closed her eyes as she would begin her practice session. Taking a deep breath, the girl's skin would begin to flutter as if wind had caught a stack of paper, and paper would begin to swirl around her. Now she needed to focus.

Kiriya needed one glance at the morning sky to see that today the weather would be awful. Dark sinister clouds were blocking the sun’s yellow rays. He didn’t feel like running this morning. In the past two or three weeks he was spending less time on running and more time training his swordsmanship skills. He needed to get better, a lot better. Kiriya used these rigorous training cycles as an escapement of his problems. Their family’s financial situation was probably the biggest one, his mother couldn’t handle both of them alone. That’s why Kiriya was taking up as many missions from the village as he could. He did his very best to save money and to help his mother. However, his rusty blade was getting more and more worked up and soon it needed to be replaced.

As he got up from his bed he immediately decided what he was going to do today. The “mission” for today was bukijutsu training. He felt that his bukijutsu skills were falling behind. When Kiriya did a spar with Raiu Mizuki he was amazed with her fighting style. Kiriya decided not to go to his usual training spot but rather go on the Thunder grounds. The thing about that place was that there were lightning and thunders no matter the weather. Kiriya felt that the Thunder grounds perfectly matched today’s weather.

After taking a quick shower he made himself an even quicker sandwich, packed his training gear and left off. He almost forgot his rusty wakizashi but then remembered to take it. How could someone forget his main weapon? Kiriya’s mind was wandering a little bit too much this morning. He couldn’t stop thinking about the power difference between him and Mizuki.

The beneficial thing about the Thunder grounds was that a shinobi could train a certain skill and at the same he had to avoid the lightning and thunders hitting around him. That training closely resembled a real fight where one had to be aware of his surroundings at all times. Upon arrival there he saw a few other genin training and a silver haired girl who appeared to be meditating next to a rock. Kiriya couldn’t explain why but he was astonished by that particular hair color. He almost went to speak with her but immediately stopped. She was clearly training and he respected that. Kiriya was at a time of his life that he started to become interested in girls.

“Now’s not the time for that. You came here to train, man up and do that.” He cleaned up his mind from needless thoughts and began meditating. The meditating took him only ten minutes. He stood up, removed the wakizashi from its sheath and started practicing different battle stances. He wasn’t paying too much attention to his surroundings but was “woken” up by a lightning strike not far from the place he was standing. Kiriya didn’t worry too much about them, he was from the Kaminari clan – their bodies were accustomed to the lightning charges. It would take much more than one lightning strike to kill him. At least, that was what he thought.

Kiriya started training as he was in a real battle situation. Swinging his wakizashi from right to left, trying to think up a new unorthodox strike. All things were going well but he didn't pay a lot of attention to his surroundings. Suddenly he felt the air around him charge up in electric particles. He was able to sense it only because of his clan. A split second later he was struck by a massive lightning. As he was struck he lost consciousness and fell to the ground. If he was a regular shinobi the strike would have definitely killed him.

A breathe exhaled from Hitomi's lips as her eyes narrowed. Hitomi had finished creating plenty of paper in the area around her by the time the boy would show up in a spot some what near hers and began training. It appeared to Hitomi that he was going to be training in swordsmanship, so she shouldn't need to worry about him taking up too much and space, and honestly it worked better for her training. It would mean that once she could start creating and launching shuriken she would need to focus in where she was launching them so as to not launch them straight into another Kumo nin. That probably wouldn't serve a member of Kumogakure to send a bunch of Shuriken into the other one. Either way, Hitomi was fine with the boy training near her, at least for the time being.

With that in mind, Hitomi would continue her training, focusing your mental energy and chakra onto the pieces of paper that floated around her. This wasn't an easy task she had ahead of her. She had to focus her chakra in several areas to begin folding several of the pieces of paper and forging them into Shuriken. she needed to make she her folds were perfect or else the shuriken wouldn't cut. However as the pieces of paper around her began to fold in unison, she felt it. The static in the air around her was potent enough even she, someone who was attuned to the ways of raiton could feel it, which meant one thing, and one thing only. The strike would be close. Hitomi's eye shot around, she could see the static building up underneath the boy whom she was training next too. However one thing caught her attention. He wasn't moving.

Immediately. Hitomi sprung into action. Instead of placing her hands over her ears to protect herself from the thunder, the girl would begin weaving hand signs attempting to focus her chakra. She would have to do something she had never done before, but even it ended up backfiring, as long as it worked a little bit, it could save the boys life. Hitomi held out her hands, as her arms fluttered as though they were constructed from several pieces of paper once more, and paper shot out, flying directly towards the boy. As it was traveling however, Hitomi wasn't done. She would then take a deep breath, focusing her chakra within the paper and realligning it from neutral to fuuton alligned chakra. effectively covering the boy in a protectively layer of fuuton.

The lightning struck, and it's blast created a shock wave that not only deafened Hitomi but attempted to push her off of the rock she was standing on. She held firm, however she could feel the blood coming out of her ears. unfortunately, there was no time to deal with that. Hitomi's eyes shot open as she leap off the rock and ran towards the boy. More paper immediately coming off of her arms. This would be a technique she knew how to use. A medical bandaging technique. One Hitomi had used many times in order to aid her own healing. She'd use this technique to wrap the boys chest, a vital area in maintaining life. Hitomi would work fast, with her bandages flying towards the boy almost as soon as she openned her eyes and lept down. However, her bandages weren't fast enough that she wouldn't get a good look at the boy.

Singed paper lay around him, but it looks like her shot in the dark had helped at least a little bit. It had kept his burns down to a minimum. However, due to the uncontrolled technique, it appeared she had cut him a bit. No matter, she could deal with that, as long as he was still alive.

As soon as hitomi's bandages were wrapped around the boy, she would immediately set into work. Using her hovering hands technique on his chest, which her bandages would then spread to his entire chest area, she would set into work on healing the burns that covered that area. Then after that would be healed fairly well, she would then move on to healing other areas. This would take a bit more time as she wouldn't have her bandage technique to aid her, but she didn't mind. She would do this all while her ears still rang, and blood dripped from them.

In a split second before the lightning strike hit him he could feel something wrapping around him. Although he didn’t exactly knew what it was something inside him felt that it would help him rather than harm him. He immediately lost consciousness as the lightning strike made contact with his body and dropped to the ground.

Everything around him suddenly turned black. Kiriya couldn’t even comprehend what was happening to him. He started seeing some of his old memories. But that went on for mere seconds and then all went to black again.

When Kiriya finally managed to gain his mind back and woke up. The only thing he knew for sure was that his head was hurting like hell and he couldn’t think straight. In times like these his mind couldn’t even grasp what was happening. After some time had passed he finally started regaining his mind. He could barely remember what had happened. The air around him was charging up with electric particles and then full black. He managed to link the events together, the only logical explanation was a thunder strike. But there was another thing that he was concerned about. Moments before the lightning had hit him he felt chakra infused paper around him. Kiriya couldn’t explain that to himself.
As soon as Kiriya gained enough strength to open his eyes he saw the girl that was standing above him. It was the same girl he had saw when he came to the thunder grounds. She appeared to be healing him. The thing that he could conclude from the sight he saw was that the girl was most surely a medical nin. Kiriya felt infuriated with himself. He should have been more careful.

On the other hand, the girl above him was injured as well. This meant that the lightning strike had affected her too. Blood was dripping out from her ears. When Kiriya’s mind became clearer he felt the paper wrappings around him. So the chakra infused paper he had felt moments before the strike were hers. She probably saved his life at that very moment.

“Thank you for the help. Without your paper jutsu I probably wouldn’t have survived this. But please heal your wounds now.” Kiriya’s words were silent but he made sure she heard them.
