The Naruto Saga Handbook
ALPHA V3.5 16.10.22
Welcome to Naruto Saga, Guest! We are happy to have you, and we promise with time and diligence, you will find Saga more than home!
We understand there is a large amount of information present on Saga, so this Handbook is meant to compress that information and structure it so you may have a more streamlined experience.
Most of this information has been taken from the set of Guidelines, which you can alternatively read here if you wish. That being said, extreme care has been taken to ensure this Handbook's contents are as precise as they can be to Saga's systems, guidelines, and rules.
This Handbook has been split into four distinct parts for your convenience: essentials, roleplaying (RP) electives, specialisation electives, and creation electives. The essentials section covers what you will need to know, from familiarising yourself to the Saga environment all the way to completely setting up your character, is considered compulsory, and should be read in order. The electives sections, on the other hand, cover different aspects of Saga, some more important than others, are optional, and can be read in any order.
WARNING: An exaggerated number of spoilers and tables have been needlessly exploited in the making of this Handbook.
That being said, let's kickstart the Handbook!

You cannot apply for an Uchiha as your first character, you must have created at least one character beforehand, which you must have RPed with for at least one month. Administrators may request for additional requirements at their discretion.
- Doujutsu Clans: Clans that have a Doujutsu (Eye Technique) or another ability that is restricted to one part of the body as their Kekkei Genkai can be applieded, but require the approval of two administrators/global moderators. With the exception of the Uchiha clan, there is no requirement for an admin to approve a character applying to be part of an approved Doujutsu clan, unless stated.
- Advanced Element Clans: Clans that have an Advanced Element as their Kekkei Genkai can be applied, but require the approval of two administrators/global moderators. There is no requirement for an admin to approve a character applying to be part of an approved Advanced Element clan.

Regardless, we promise that if you're willing to look past this list and make do with the vast Naruto universe still at your fingertips, you will find a treasure trove of creativity, affable friends, and captivating events on Saga.
Now that the Restricted and Banned List is out of the way, and you're still reading this, we assume that you're here to stay (good choice; ignore the haters). The first thing you may wish to have at your fingertips is lore, specifically what happened on Saga.
Saga History is where the most accurate records of Saga's history have been documented. Geographically, Saga takes inspiration from the following map, which depicts the geographical landscape of the Elemental Continents:
- Elemental Continents Map:

2. Introducing Yourself #0002
While completely optional, you may introduce yourself here so the RPing community may get to know you.
Similarly, you may also inform others of your absence from the site with an absence post so that your fellow RPers can be informed of your prolonged leave from the site, rather than kept waiting.
Also, you get 10 ryo for posting in this section, so why avoid it?
Alternatively, you can introduce yourself in the Chatbox, which can either be accessed from the main page, or here.
3. Character Creation #0003
We all know you came to Saga to RP, and you will first need a character. To do that, you will need to fill in a Saga character template and have it approved by staff.
The Character Creation Guidelines is where you can find the full guidelines for creating your character.
To avoid a lengthy read as well as confusing bumps in the road, however, this Handbook will attempt to streamline your character creation process. A sample of a Character Application based on Naruto has also been added at the end of this section.
NOTE: You must use Saga's character creation template. Any other offsite template, however similar or thorough, will be rejected. Any missing portion of the character template, e.g. images, will also result in your application being rejected. Changing the position of the images, i.e. centering them or aligning them to the right, will also result in a rejection of your application.
Keeping that in mind, first head to the Characters page. You should start a thread in the Characters forum, not any of the sub-forums labelled 'Konoha', 'Suna', 'Iwa', etc. Topics within these sub-forums are locked, meaning you may not post or edit any topics within these sub-forums; your character's application will be moved to these sub-forums by staff after it has been completed. Again, start a thread in the Characters forum; the 'New Post' icon is located below all the aforementioned sub-forums.
You should be taken to a posting page. Assuming you've introduced yourself, this should look familiar. For standardisation purposes (you will be hearing this a lot), the thread should be your character's desired IC (in character, i.e. information regarding the character you want to RP as, not yourself) name in the following format [Last name], [First name] [WIP]. The [WIP] denotes that your character is a work in progress.
For example, if I wanted to make a character called Naruto Uzumaki, the title would be the following: Uzumaki, Naruto [WIP].
Copy and paste the following code into your thread:
- Code:

[b]Face Claim:[/b] What is the name of the character you chose and what show is he/she from.
- Character and Account:
- You may only roleplay as one character per account, up to four accounts, i.e. you can have a total of four characters.
If you once had a character on an account, only to recycle the account so you can make a second character, any information relating to the previous character will be considered null. You cannot retrieve the information even if you discard the newly-created character.
- Helpful Tips and Hints for Character Building:
- It's easy to fill out a form, but to make a rounded character is much harder. There are many small nuances that make or break a character, and this can affect your drive to RP.
Some non-exhaustive questions to ask yourself are:- Do I have a character concept?
Your character should have a personality unique to them. Failure to develop this can land you in the awkward position of figuring out how to continue on. Without a foundation to build upon, it's easy for development to quickly dissolve, along with your motivation to RP. - What's my plot?
Just as it is important to know where you're coming from, it's also important to have an idea of where you intend to do. This can be anything from key moments planned in your character's future, a non-playing character (NPC) villain, or other factors which drives your character's story. Without these, you may find your character losing focus and becoming directionless, because they simply aren't going anywhere. - Am I too reliant on others?
It's a good idea to keep your plot and your character leaning towards self-reliance as other people may come and go; if a key person to your character happens to be MIA for an extended period of time, it can stall your own development significantly. Keeping things personal, while having 'side plots' with others is usually a safe road to travel. - Do I have room to grow?
While it's important to be self-reliant, it's also equally important to leave enough about your character open for interpretation, so you can build up on these areas when you roleplay with other people. You will have to roleplay with other people, and so it's a good practice to make sure that the character you're building has room to grow into his new experiences. - Do I like it?
Roleplaying is, at the end of the day, for fun. There's zero point in creating a character that you do not enjoy to write as. So, when you have your character pictured in your head, ask yourself this: is your concept something that you can relate with? Is it something you'll enjoy writing for a long time?
These are hardly the only aspects to a character, but they're good places to get started. Take some time to sit down and think about these questions, and anymore you may have.*Credit to Ayakashi for this section - Do I have a character concept?
- Clan:
- Saga is home to many clans. Some of them are made by staff, others are made by your fellow RPers. Some feature canon abilities, while others are custom-made. Either way, both open up new avenues of RPing to explore.
You may find a comprehensive list of clans at the Saga Clan Directory, structured so it is as user-friendly as possible. Or, you can opt to look at them one-by-one at the Clans Section here and the Clan Updates Section here. Take note that clans in the latter section are subject to revamp and might be changed without prior notice.
In earlier versions, the Handbook included a list of clans that were recommended by each village's Kage. However, those have been removed indefinitely. Instead, you're encouraged to look through each of the clans, or browse through the synopsis on the Saga Clan Directory, until you find one that suits your tastes.
If you would like to have a general recommendation, however, two such recommended clans for newcomers to the site or to the series are the Undiscovered and the Hattori Clan.
The Undiscovered allow you to begin as a blank slate, before transitioning into the clan of your choice at a later date. This is recommended if you're having trouble choosing from the dozens of clans on Saga, and wish to just begin RPing; this also helps if your custom clan is being looked over, and you find the process tediously long for some reason.
Do take note that the Undiscovered cannot transition into a clan that has a Dojutsu or Advanced Element. So, it's recommended that you browse through Dojutsu and Advanced Element clans, using their respective tags in the Saga Clan Directory; if you're not interested in any of them, you can likely opt to join the Undiscovered and transition to any other clan at a later date.
The Hattori Clan is recommended for a different reason: their strength lies in being exceptionally well-versed in one aspect of ninja combat, are rather well-rounded, and are a brilliant way to hone your RP skills, especially in combat (if you don't want to fight, it's fine too). Where the Undiscovered prioritise choice, the Hattori lean more towards polishing your skills.
Do note again that, as a rule, you are not allowed to create an Uchiha as your first character. This cannot be stressed enough. You must have at least one character on Saga, which you have RPed consistently with for at least one month, before you can attempt to make an Uchiha. During your Uchiha application, all the word counts will also be double what they would otherwise be. Personality would have 400 words minimum, Likes 200 words minimum, and so on and so forth. Even then, your application can be rejected by administrators for any and all reasons.
- Village:
- You may begin in either Konoha, Suna, Iwa, Kumo, or Kiri. You may also begin unaffiliated with any of the great five, i.e. you are a Wanderer or a Ronin.
If you belong to any of the five villages, you will need your Kage's permission to travel to another country, i.e. the Land of Fire to the Land of Lightning, and the request may take some time, depending on the Kage's busy schedule IRL (in real life). You may also have travel restrictions placed upon you, i.e. being a Chuunin or beyond, while requiring an escort as a Genin. If you are in a village, though, you will also have the backing of the village in case you get in trouble or are targeted by third parties.
If you don't belong to any of the five villages, you will have the freedom to travel wherever you want, but this comes at the cost of having no one behind your back when push comes to shove. Of course, you can make your alliances IC before such a thing happens.
Unfortunately, which of the five villages you go to will be up to you, though we recommend you look at Saga History to aid in your decision-making, or ask the chatbox for suggestions. Adding a small village dossier in this section is out of the question, as the ever-changing nature of the villages means an overly frequent updating of this Handbook, which is simply unfeasible. Either way, following a village or going solo will be a unique RPing experience you will undoubtedly craft for yourself.
- Sexuality:
- You may only choose between the five provided sexualities. 'Unknown' is not considered acceptable. While your character may not have discovered their sexuality for whatever reason, e.g. being sheltered or underaged, you as the writer need to determine their sexuality. In cases of uncertainty, bisexuality and asexuality are the safest options to opt for.
- Rank:
- Unfortunately, only very special cases get to start at ranks beyond Genin. Otherwise, your request is likely denied. So, no, you may not.
- Element(s):
- Your character can typically learn up to four elements over the course of his career: his primary, secondary, tertiary, and quaternary element respectively.
To start off you may choose up to two elements as your respective primary and secondary elements. However, some clans put limitations on the total number of elements you may learn, while others put limitations or grants for the number of elements you may start with. These clan rules must be followed first and foremost.
Take note you may only choose from the five basic elements of fire, wind, earth, lightning, and water, while all elements other than these basic five are clan-locked, meaning you may only access them if you hail from said clan. Do not argue having two Kekkei Genkai.
Do be judicious in your choice of elements, as they affect the element of the jutsu you may learn, but if you do end up making a mistake, fret not, for you may also unlearn elements to make slots for those you want to learn.
- Specialties:
- More commonly known and referred to on Saga as specialisations, there are a total of ten available as of the creation of this guide, though some might be changed or assimilated into other specialisations in the future.
The ten specialisations are: Ninjutsu, Taijutsu, Genjutsu, Bukijutsu, Medical Ninjutsu, Fuuinjutsu, Kuchiyose, Kugutsu, Senjutsu, and Seijutsu, with their guidelines found here (for the first nine specialisations) and here (for Seijutsu). However, for the purposes of this guide, a short overview will also be given. Further explanation, for those that exist, can be found in the Specialisation Electives section.
Just like with your elements, you can only learn jutsu that you have a specialisation for. Thus, if you have Genjutsu and Bukijutsu, you cannot learn a jutsu which requires Ninjutsu, nor can you learn a jutsu that requires Genjutsu and Fuuinjutsu, despite satisfying one of the two required specialisations. Just like with your elements as well, mistakenly taking a specialisation can be remedied by unlearning it.
Ninjutsu- Ninjutsu forms the backbone of most ninjas' fighting styles. Simply due to its versatility, it cannot be delineated what it actually does or does not encompass, but it is also this versatility that allows it to be easily used alongside other specialisations, combining to form a unique fighting style, e.g. Nintaijutsu.[/td]
Taijutsu- Taijutsu refers to any technique involving the human body. Taking Taijutsu as a specialisation gives you passive increases to some of your stats, which scale as you get promoted. At your level, Genin/D-rank, you receive +1 tier to either Speed or Strength, while this increases to a +2/+3 increase at Special Jonin/B-rank and S-rank respectively.
If you take Taijutsu as a specialisation, there exists sub-specialisations that you need to address. These sub-specialisations include striking (punching, kicking, etc.), grappling (positioning, outmaneuvering, etc.), or hybrid (a mix of both). You need to specify the type of sub-specialisation along with your fighting style, though the style is completely optional.
An example is as follows:
Taijutsu (Strength / Grappling / Muay Thai)
Or:
Taijutsu (Strength / Grappling)[/td] - Taijutsu techniques normally involve channeling chakra through the person’s body, often never past the skin. While it’s Taijutsu which is most often used to increase the user’s physical characteristics, they can be used for other purposes as well, such as administering burns on touch, hardening one’s skin, and many other effects based on touch. Though chakra can be pushed beyond their skin, it becomes near impossible to maintain without some form of constant physical contact.
Genjutsu- Genjutsu attacks the victim's senses, making them hallucinate, and does no real, physical damage, but can be a very effective distraction for charging more powerful techniques.
- Genjutsu techniques normally focus around illusions, by forcing chakra by the means of a trigger into an opponent’s chakra system, to cause varying effects by disturbing the flow of chakra in certain areas and in certain ways. This can be anything from a false sensory input, changing the target’s perception of reality, or even mentally wearing out the opponent. All Genjutsu require a trigger, be it through sight, sound, sending a gust of wind infused with the user’s chakra to the opponent, or many other unique means. All triggers, however crafty in nature though, must be inherently avoidable.
Bukijutsu- Bukijutsu is the use of advanced weapons, as well as the skill to channel chakra through these weapons, beyond the basics of katar, fuuma shuriken, tantos, tonfas, daggers, arrows (without bows), kunais, shuriken, and senbon. If you wish to use the above weapons, you do not need to take Bukijutsu. If you want to use the more advanced ones apart from those listed above, however, you will need to take Bukijutsu as a specialisation.
Like Taijutsu, Bukijutsu has several sub-specialisations and each-sub-specialisation allows you to wield certain weapons. As such, you need to acquire the desired sub-specialisation before you may wield your desired weapon. You may only wield weapons one rank higher than your own, i.e. a Genin/D-ranked character can only wield C-rank equipment. A list of sub-specialisations is provided below:Kenjutsu
Traditional Eastern Swordsmanship- Katana
- Bokuto
- Wakizashi
- Zanbato
- Nodachi
- Odachi
Swordsmanship
Western weapons- Butterfly sword
- Broadsword
- Flamberge
- Bastard sword
- Great sword
- Sword and shield
- Rapier
- Cutlass
Bojutsu
Staffs and blunt weapons- Bo-staff
- Quarterstaff
- Jingu staff
Sojutsu
Spears, pikes, and lances- Spear
- Yari
- Pike
- Chinese pike
- Lance
- Poleaxe
Onojutsu
Unorthodox weapons- Scythe
- Sickle
- Sickle and chain
- Mace
- Scimitar
- Flail
- Whip-sword
- Chain whip
- Whip
- Axes (Keyblades)
Kyujutsu
Archery- Short bows
- Bows
- Longbows
- Crossbows
- Slings
- Fireworks
- Ballistic weapons
- Senbon launcher
- Shuriken launcher
- Kunai launcher
- Katana
- Bukijutsu techniques, similar to Taijutsu techniques, are able to infuse chakra-based effects into items which would otherwise not have them. While these effects can be projected beyond the scope of the item, control of such effects becomes virtually impossible without some form or means of physical contact between the item and the chakra.
Medical Ninjutsu- Medical Ninjutsu deals with healing and manipulation of the body, allowing users to damage enemies if in-depth knowledge of the body is in question.
- Unlike normal techniques, Medical Ninjutsu uses positive energy to regenerate dead cells and damaged bodies using chakra, whether it be a target or the user. Medical Ninjutsu is a requirement for all techniques which would require intricate knowledge of the human body to perform, such as attacking an opponent’s central nervous system or specific organs, etc. However, it does possess some finer offensive techniques, like the chakra scalpel, and includes some very limited base chakra manipulation.
Fuuinjutsu- Fuuinjutsu, on Saga, refers to the sealing and unsealing of objects, whether weapons or jutsu. This is typically done with seals placed on a surface, which can be disrupted if the surface is disrupted, unless the jutsu states otherwise.
- Fuuinjutsu involves effects surrounding the symbol they are cast from, and are unable to perform feats of incredible control by normal means. Though diverse, their purpose is often basic, and must be centered around the act of ‘sealing’ and ‘unsealing’. This can include sealing chakra and releasing it, or creating a physical prison around someone. Seals’ effects are normally ended if the seal itself is damaged or broken, or the surface upon which it is formed is.
Kuchiyose- Kuchiyose refers to summoning specific animals to aid you in combat or otherwise.
- Kuchiyose involves summoning creatures, whether realistic or not, though mythical creatures may be restricted to the higher ranks due to their status. The sizes of such creatures can range from small, such as the size of dogs, to colossal, such as the size of small hills.
Kugutsu- Kugutsu refers to using puppets (normally humanoid) to fight for you in combat. These puppets can be fashioned with weapons. The two types of puppets are Bunraku puppets (traditional wooden or steel puppets) and human puppets (made from dead and preserved corpses), which cannot be repaired once destroyed and are extremely costly to maintain. As a general rule, the art as a whole is extremely costly and time-consuming, so avoid it if you lack the patience for such an art, albeit it being a very rewarding one.
- Kugutsu techniques are limited to the use of a puppet, similar to Bukijutsu, often using chakra strings as a conduit to impart effects onto their puppets, increasing their potential in many ways.
Senjutsu- Senjutsu is the utilisation of natural energy. At lower ranks, you can use it to sense others and refill your depleted chakra reserves, though training this specialisation to B-rank allows you to enter Sage Mode, granting you a +1 tier increase to one stat. However, Senjutsu cannot be one of your starter specialisations, can only be learned at Special Jonin/B-rank, and has an extremely high word count to train, even at the lower ranks.
Seijutsu- Seijutsu refers to fighting alongside a pet or a combat animal (or multiple) of your choice, which you will need to individually buy and train. Do note that it is fairly expensive to buy and train pets, but also rewarding if done right.
- Ninjutsu forms the backbone of most ninjas' fighting styles. Simply due to its versatility, it cannot be delineated what it actually does or does not encompass, but it is also this versatility that allows it to be easily used alongside other specialisations, combining to form a unique fighting style, e.g. Nintaijutsu.[/td]
- Special Characteristics:
- TBA
- Face Claim Tips:
- A face claim (FC) is generally what you want your character to look like. While it does not necessarily have to be a carbon copy of your character, a close enough lookalike is more than sufficient. For example, in my case, if I wanted a character who had shoulder-length white hair and blue eyes, I could easily use Lisanna Strauss from Fairy Tail as my FC:
However, simply because the picture above lacks any facial scars does not mean that I am not privy to adding several scars in my description, for example, a cross-shaped scar on her left cheek. I can also change her description such that she has white eyes (assuming I'm making a Hyuga), even if the picture distinctly shows her with blue eyes. If this irks you, Saga also has plenty of RPers whose skills in photo editing can help you achieve the custom look you want with an FC. They may charge, though.
You will generally want to find FCs that have a large database of pictures to choose from. One reason is so you and your fellow RPers may search up pictures of your FC online to better picture him/her. Another is in the case you need to update your character's FC with an older/different version; having a large variety of pictures to choose from would go a long way. Or, you could simply change FCs when your character's appearance matures or changes.
A popular fan favourite for finding FCs would be the notorious Anime Characters Database, though you may also ask around in the Chatbox; several of our members are very familiar with the various FCs across dozens of anime that would fit your requirements.
Also, as each FC can only be locked to one character, you may wish to double-check whether your FC has already been used by someone else on the Face Claim List, which can be found here.
If your desired FC has been listed, do not despair! Chances are, the one with your desired FC could be inactive, and if they’ve been inactive IC for more than three months, you have permission to use the FC anyhow!
To check when they've last been active IC, click on their username, which you should be able to locate via a quick search. This should bring you to their profile. At the bottom of the profile, to the left, should be a link titled ‘Posts’. There, you may check when their last IC post was made. If it’s been more than three months, you’re more than likely to win the rights to your FC.
As mentioned, a sample of Naruto’s character sheet can be accessed here.
While making your character, you'll want to keep in mind you may only have a maximum of +3 tiers of passive stat boosts from non-Taijutsu sources. These refer to those acquired from your clan, from your Special Characteristics, etc. but, as the name implies, not from your Taijutsu specialisation. An example has been provided below:
- Passive Stat Boost Example:
- Let's say you have, before the passive stat boost restriction, the following stat boosts:
- +3 tiers of speed from your clan
- +3 tiers of endurance from your clan
- +1 tier of speed from the Taijutsu specialisation
Now, your +1 tier of speed from your Taijutsu specialisation will always be recorded. What won't always be recorded will be the other increases to your tiers. In total, you would have gotten a total of +6 tiers worth of stat boosts from non-Taijutsu sources (i.e. Clan). You will have to pick any permutation of these four stat boosts, and register only +3. So, your final stat may be the following:- +2 tier of speed from your clan
- +1 tier of endurance from your clan
- +1 tier of speed from the Taijutsu specialisation
As seen above, of non-Taijutsu sources, you were only able to register three out of six of these passive stat boosts as official, while the remaining will be chucked out of the window. So, do add some thought into the planning of your character.- Reasoning:
- The reason you're only allowed a limit of +3 tiers of passive stat boosts from non-Taijutsu sources is to avoid RPers applying for large quantities of items each supplying miniscule stat boosts, e.g. a total of +10 tiers of speed by applying for 10 quantities of +1 tier speed items.
- +3 tiers of speed from your clan
NOTE: You are unable to edit any detail of your application without staff permission once it has been approved. 'Editing' will no longer be an option after you have begun to RP with your character in any threads, following which you may only 'update' your character sheet. As such, kindly ensure that everything is in order before removing the [WIP] label and requesting for a check in the Character Modding Requests thread.
4. Character Kit #0004
Following the creation and approval of your character (yes, following, not during, though you can attempt this at your own risk), there are several things you need to do to gear your character up for the trials and tribulations ahead. These include your Stats, Items, and Jutsu, which will all be recorded down in their own respective forum pages.
We'll start off with your Stat page. You haven't been properly introduced to Stats yet, but that will be covered later as an elective. Here, we'll set your character up by rounding off the character completion process.
Stats
- There are five main stats on Saga: strength, speed, endurance, perception, and reaction time. While a record of your stats exists on your character's sidebar, you need to personally keep track of your character's stats as well.
Head to the Training Stats page and start a thread for your character. For standardisation purposes, kindly name it [Last Name], [First Name] [Stats].
This page will be a simple stat tracker for your character, doubling as your only method of improving your stats. You just need to list out your current Strength, Speed, Endurance, Perception, and Reaction Time. Right now they should be at their lowest level, i.e. E-0, so put that down. Afterward, add separately any stat modifiers you might have, e.g. a +2 speed from your clan or the +1 strength from Taijutsu.
NOTE: Do not immediately compute the final rank and tier of your stat, i.e. stating you have E-1 Strength due to the Taijutsu boost. You must at least list out the base tier, E-0, before noting down any modifiers. This is to avoid complications that otherwise will arise. It’s also a good habit to detail the origin of your modifier, e.g. stating that the +1 to Strength is a result of your Taijutsu specialisation.
Rinse and repeat this for all five statistics. You may decorate the stat page however you desire, but the statistic, its base value, and any modifiers must be listed.
While you’re at it, you may want to set up your Specialisation and Element pages as well, respectively in the Training Specialisation and Training Elements pages. The idea is the same, listing out your Specialisations and Elements, their respective ranks, and any modifiers/relevant information.
Items
- Next up will be your character’s items, which can be found in your character’s Item Locker. To create your locker, go to the Item Locker thread located here and start a thread for your character. For standardisation purposes, kindly name it [Last Name], [First Name] [Item Locker].
You may then add whatever items you may have to your locker. At Saga, you receive a small gift to start you off, and you may add these to your locker directly. - Hitae-ate (Forehead protector) x 1
- Kunai x 1
- Shuriken x 3 OR Senbon x 6
You may only choose three shuriken or six senbon. You may not choose both.
Obviously, there are templates for these items, and the filled-out template may be located from the items’ respective Catalogues. The hitae-ate may be found under Forehead Protectors, while the kunai, shuriken, and senbon templates may be found in the Weapons Catalogue.
If you want to add more items to your locker, you'll need to apply for them separately in the Items section.
Jutsu
- What ninja would be complete without Jutsu?
Rock Lee. A list of your character’s available jutsu can be found in your character’s Jutsu List, which you similarly have to create for your character.
Simply go to the Jutsu List thread. You should see a list of Konoha, Suna, Iwa, and so on and so forth. Click on the link affiliated with your character (i.e. if you’re a Suna ninja, click on Suna) and start a thread for your character. For standardisation purposes, kindly name it [Last Name], [First Name] [Jutsu List].
You may immediately add all Academy Jutsu to your Jutsu List, and they may all be used regardless of whether you have the necessary specialisations for them. Clan Jutsu, on the other hand, need to be individually trained as and when they become available, and remain restricted by your elements, specialisations, and rank.
Limitations to what jutsu you can use are as follows. You can only use a jutsu if it satisfies all the requirements below: - You have all the elements and specialisations required by the jutsu.
- The rank of your specialisations match the rank of the jutsu.
- The rank of your elements match the rank of the jutsu.
- The jutsu is at most one rank higher than your ninja rank, unless you have clan bonuses.
As a gift from Saga, you are also receiving some free jutsu – 4 D-ranks and 1 C-rank, though you can trade 1 C-rank jutsu for 2 D-rank jutsu and vice versa. While you can also trade 2 C-ranks for 1 B-rank, it is highly inadvisable, as you will be left with a small repertoire of starting jutsu, and, as a Genin/D-rank, will likely be unable to use said B-ranked jutsu.
You may pick these five jutsu from the Jutsu Library, or you may create your own. Jutsu creation, however, will not be covered in this section.
And now, you’re truly done with setting up your character.
5. Mod Systems #0005
How administrative systems work on Saga is simple in nature, but might involve some work.
Any time you want staff to look at any of your applications, you must post in the appropriate Modding Requests thread with the link to your application. For the following threads, please read the instructions on the first page regarding posting your requests to minimise workload for staff:
- Administrative Requests
Here is where you make requests that can only be done with administrator access. These include, but are not limited to, promotions, chakra modifications, and addition and deduction of ryo. - Character Modding Requests
While you shouldn’t need this thread any further, as you would have already completed your character, this thread has also been added here to round out the set. - Clan Modding Requests
As simple as the name itself, you should post here if you want to help with clan revamps, or if you want to get a custom clan of your own checked and approved by staff. - Jutsu Modding Requests
What will likely be your bread and butter on Saga, the Jutsu Modding Requests thread handles all requests to approve custom or canon jutsu. - Item Modding Requests
This thread is the item equivalent of the Jutsu Modding Requests, and can be used to seek approval for your weapon, armor, or item. - Training Modding Requests
This thread is where you post any request to check on training. It can be increasing the rank of your specialisation or element, or any one of your stats; requests to approve said increases must go here. - Mission Modding Requests
This thread is where you post requests to approve a custom mission, request to take an existing one (if necessary), or notify staff of your completion of a mission.
Again, read the instructions for each Request thread, as they may differ. Staff reserves the right to ignore any request made that does not fall in line with any instructions provided.
You also must post in these threads if you want something checked by a moderator. Even if you plan to ask them via chat or PM, a record of your request must be listed down in the thread before they are permitted to give your character/clan/item/jutsu a look.
And that sums up most of the essential knowledge to starting out on Saga! We hope you've found this as informative as we have tried to make it.
The rest of this Guide will deal with the electives, which you can read, if you so wish, at your own pace.
RP electives, as the name suggests, will deal with the different aspects to RPing on Saga. Specialisation electives will go more in-depth for the few specialisations that are more easily confused or less travelled. Creation electives will go through the basics of custom creations, with some tips and tricks provided.
We hope to see you around Saga! Happy RPing, and ciao!
