Maigo

Maigo

D-rank
Kaminari no Kuni was a weird place for an Uchiha to be found wandering around in, so few of them left in the world and all of the notorious names to hold their weight around the world. But even here, this place hadn't been touched nearly as heavily by their clan. Come to prominence in the Land of Fire, the fourth great ninja war was the closest this land came to being on the radar of an Uchiha. Even Hao decided to burn down Kirigakure no Sato instead, and it was Hao who left Maigo with the scroll that weighed so heavily in the ninja pouch tied to his waist at his back. The history of the Uchiha, their curse of hatred and everything beyond that, how the eyes worked. It was an encyclopedia of information on the Sharingan and Uchiha clan. Enough that in the wrong hands, it could give an enemy of Maigo enough information to negate a lot of his inherent prowess. But then again, there was so much more to the Uchiha than what legends and words on paper could ever say.

The stone tablet was manipulated over time but that doesn't change the nature of our clans prowess at all. The Uchiha made our decision and though the facts imprinted on it were to use us, they are still facts.

Different words and ideals spread among the Uchiha's mind, interpretations and quotations from the scroll and the world he knew. Every step he took into the wilderness was another closer to his destination. The hard piercing crunch of his sandals against the snow that laid thick across the ground, snowflakes lazily descending from the sky all around him in random fashion as he began to move further and further up the mountainside. The path leading up was hardly a path, more just a tearing away of rocks that showed the path up, gradually worn down by waterfall and footsteps, the trail was so full of holes and dips that it was painful to merely walk it. With every step Maigo took carefully, his backpack on his back and the grey cloak he wore began to cover with snow, his hood over his head and his breath exhaled into a white mist before trailing away into nothingness.

Up the side path of this mountain was cut in a shrine, one dedicated to the Uchiha clan, from a nomad after the clans passing who wanted to protect the secrets their eyes held. It was said he existed there for years before bandits raided the place and killed him in it, stealing away everything they could. Since then though, the shrine held for some time, another relic of the Uchiha's past that doubtfully held any answers to what their clan was or had been.

Truthfully, Maigo had hardly convinced himself to make the journey up the mountain, especially in the middle of a snowstorm already, traveling further up the mountain was especially reckless to accomplish nothing in particular.  Maigo had his full set of weapons on him, under his cloak were his normal clothes and all his gear placed in two pouches at his waist and two kunai at his right thigh. Beyond that he had his old katana too but he doubted that he would need any of that. Further rumor led him to believe that the place had been abandoned for some time, no one coming or going believed the ground to be cursed and haunted by the spirit of the Uchiha man who'd died there.

That didn't phase Maigo in the slightest, shimmying his way past a particularly narrow section of the walkway, looking down the cliff that bellowed out deeply in front of him. The ice was slick, he felt it more than ever in that moment and saw the depth he'd drop if he did slide down. Not mattering though, quickly he turned his foot and jumped the last few feet past it, planting into the thick snow just a few feet beyond the doorway.

It was cut deeply into the mountain, the rock hanging several feet overhead before the red door was there, cracked and aged. The worn out symbol of a three tomoe sharingan was on the door but beyond faded, Maigo made his way forwards, pressing a hand to the door to feel it jiggle on its hinges with even the slightest pressure.

With force, Maigo pushed it open, a gust of wind rushed behind him as even colder air began to fill the expanse of the atrium. Dark. Too dark for him to see anything really, Maigo grabbed a lantern that hung a few feet off the wall and with all the hope in the world, lit a match from his backpack and watched the lamp slowly flicker to life. Stepping back towards the door, he used his free hand and closed the entry door to keep some of the cold air out, turning and holding up the lantern to illuminate as much of the atrium as he could. It was... larger than he ever expected, a demon painted on the back wall clashing with another demon entirely. A chair sat to the back with a few benches loosely set into a square in the middle of the room.

Maigo shook himself off, snow falling to a small pile around him as he dropped his hood and began to work his way around the wall, ignore the doors that led to the east and west as he began to light as many of the lamps that lined the walls as he could.
