It’s been little over a week since the last time I had taught at the academy and I got to say I think I left a good first impression. Since my time there, I’ve had kids from the class say hi to me on the street, some even asked me for some tips and tricks for the academy basics. They’ve definitely kept me busy that is for sure. So it didn’t come as a total surprise when I was offered the teaching gig again.
“OK class,” I began, taking my position in front of the students, their eyes glued to me with anticipation,“Today we’re going to be working on the big three academy jutsu. Who here can name them for me?” A couple of hands raised include those of Aricho and Kirin. “Kirin?” The boy stood up, brimming with confidence, ‘damn well too I went over this with him yesterday’ I though.
“They’re called the Henge, the Bunshin and the Kawa.. wa.." The boy paused, the last syllables on the tip of his tongue "…rimi?"
I smiled as he finished and took his seat; he actually had been listening the last few days. “Good, good. OK now who can tell me the hands signs for the Bunshin?” I was greeted by far fewer hands this time. Not surprising seeing as I hadn’t covered it before and their full-time teacher was hopeless. One hand I did notice again was Aricho’s. “OK, Aricho?” The young girl blushed before standing up. “Um… it-it’s Ram, Snake, Tiger… I think.” I grinned brightly at that one. “Perfect! OK now for extra brownie points who can actually make a Bunshin?” This time I was greeted by silence, again not so unexpected.
“OK then everybody you’re going to need to watch me.” Slowly channelling my chakra into my seals I began to make the required hand signs. Ram, Snake, Tiger, “Bunshin no Jutsu” I said calmly, expelling my chakra and allowing two clones of myself to pop up on either side of me.
The class all looked on in awe, most of them having never seen the Bunshin performed before. “Everyone grab some space around the room and try to replicate me. Just try to make one clone at first otherwise it might be too exhausting.” With a scuttling of little feet and an excited air around them the class began to practise.
They varied in their results. Looking around the room I saw that most of the students had made Bunshin, though not necessarily good Bunshin. Their proportions were a little off and a few of them looked dead on their feet. Going around the room I corrected those that needed it the most and encouraged the others to look for mistakes in their performance of the Jutsu. Turning to look at the class I saw Kirin with a trouble expression. His Bunshin looked pretty good (though his weapons pouch was on the wrong hip and his left arm was a little bit longer than the right), so I asked him what was wrong.
“… Well it’s just no matter how hard I try I can’t make the Bunshin have a shadow.” He said, his feeling of disappointment leaking through his words. I cringed, realising I had forgetting to mention the flaws of this jutsu before the class had begun practising. Promising him an explanation, I called the class to attention. “What I forgot to mention at the beginning of the class was the Bunshin’s weaknesses.” I said walking back to the front of the room “I’ve already had Kirin point out to me that he create a clone with a shadow, this is one of their main faults. They also don’t interact with their environment; meaning no body heat or shadows and that they can’t interact with objects,” Walking up to one of my clones I punched it causing it to dispel, “And they disappear when a foreign presence passes through it, like a fist. Because of this they are really only used as a distraction so that you can hit people with better reflexes than you.” I turned back to the class smiling as always. “Any questions?”

- Bunshin No Jutsu :
- Name: Doppelganger Technique (影分身の術 ~ Bunshin no Jutsu)
Canon/Custom: Canon.
Rank: E.
Type: Supplementary.
Element: None.
Range: Clones can go up to 15 meters away from the user before dispersing.
Specialty: Ninjutsu.
Duration: Clones last until dissipated or cancelled.
Cooldown: Five posts after all clones are dispersed.
Description: Using this technique, the user can create up to five intangible clones that appear physically identical to the user; these are created within 3 meters of the caster. The clones do not disturb the area around them, don't have shadows or body heat, and as such, in applicable situations, ninja can pick them out with varying difficulty. The clone has no physical form, and as such cannot attack. When any foreign presence passes through the clone, be it physical (a fist, a rock, a sword) or an opponent's jutsu, the clone will dissipate. It's mainly used to help mask the user, helping them attack an opponent who is superior at dodging. It costs 5 chakra to create clones.
