Mizu no Kuni, the Land of Water, had been Seiryū’s temporary reprieve from the worries about his potential future – though in the end his potential future was his current one regardless. Not only was his life now dictated by the places he could go and how long he could stay there, but also had another regret that presented itself. The one thing – person – that could offer Seiryū’s life something more meaningful and pleasurable happened to also have been denied to him because of his own past decisions and his current standing as a nuke-nin of one of the five major shinobi nations. While the threats that stood against Seiryū were only originating from the very village he left, there was enough of a threat that Seiryū could not, fully, live his life exactly how he dreamt.
For people like him, criminals – even being one prior to defecting from Sunagakure no Sato – there was never a happy ending lined up. There was never a peaceful life where one could live without worry. Never would there be a moment where he could sit down and smile at all the things he should be grateful for. There would never be people there for him to support the choices he makes in life. For Seiryū, there would never be a family that he could return to at the end of the day.
He no longer had a home, for his last actions in Sunagakure no Sato had indicated that he would no longer be welcome in the village – the desire for some sense of freedom outweighed being locked up by the new administration of Sunagakure no Sato. Never had there been a moment in Seiryū’s life where he had something that lasted – whether it be a relationship or something as simple as an acquaintance. Eventually, they all disappeared from his life, regardless of Seiryū’s tendencies of keeping them at a distance. There was Daraku, Mari, and now, perhaps, Keiko on that list of people that eventually left him on his own. All were, at one point another, friends or acquaintances of his, though the end result had been Seiryū being left on his own. There never had been a family for him, he knew that much easily. His father wanted nothing to do with him and he had never met his mother in the entirety of his memories. Nor did Seiryū know if he had any siblings that his father, or mother, had with other individuals. All in all, he had always been by himself and it looked like it would continue to be that way. Seiryū did have another companion in Momo, though that was entirely different due to Momo being a different species and essentially a child in terms of her species.
He had to move away from Mizu no Kuni, he felt like he had been idle in the country for an extended period of time. Thinking about possible destinations from here, there were currently two primary choices that came to mind – one of which was quickly ruled out. Geographically speaking, Kaze no Kuni and Hi no Kuni were the only real choices he had in the way of major destinations. Kaze no Kuni – his former homeland – was quickly ruled out as common sense would dictate, leaving Seiryū with the sole option of heading over to the Land of Fire and potentially Konohagakure no Sato. With his belongings all on his person, companion of Momo included, Seiryū set forth towards the body of water he would need to cross to eventually find his way to Hi no Kuni.
