Specialization:

• Himaru Lineage: Ninjutsu (Primary) or Genjutsu (Primary)
  
  As the 'upper branch' of the clan, their reputation is made by their ability to dominate the lower branch, manipulate the people and/or represent the clan's heritage. This is primarily done with Ninjutsu, which offers a solid base for combat and mastery of the Fuuton chakra, or Genjutsu, which allows the domination and manipulation of the 'weak-willed' while offering a similar versatility as Ninjutsu.
  
  
• Niitah Lineage: Medical Jutsu (Primary) or Fuuinjutsu (Primary)
  
  As the 'lower branch' of the clan, servitude is of their only true calling, and thus support-oriented specialisations should be their primary focus. Medical Ninjutsu, considered the nobler of the two as it requires pin-point precision and concentration to heal, or Fuuinjutsu, which allows the Santaku to seal or reveal their wings through their clan specific jutsu, are the encouraged choices here.

Clan History: The clan's history is steeped in the darkness of a twisted mind. What originally started as a wandering senjutsu user with an affinity for black birds, turned into a horrible abomination as he attempted to dominate and warp the symbiotic powers to his own image, turning the user of natural chakra into a twisted mockery. He succeeded at that, his chakra becoming an invisible source of poison that ran through his body and corrupted the chakra of those he fought with. Even if the tainted chakra could be cleansed by iryo-nin at first, the older he became, the heavier his chakra grew corrupted.

The first signs of this corruption became imminent in his veins. Black blood replaced the healthy red colour of blood, and his bones become hollow and brittle in time. His face grew jaunt, and his eyes turned to a cold-blooded stare rather than the warm brown they once had held. Despite all of this, he didn't waver in his goals.

His heart still unmarred by corruption (or was it?), he found love and got married, describing the taint as being a scar of war from when he fought a most vile opposing ninja. He continued his work in secrecy, hoping still to grow the wings he so desired. But instead of succeeding there, his body became a hollow shell of what he used to be, his mind poisoned by the way he had corrupted his own senjutsu.

His wife was too late to recognise the monster she had married, and pregnant of his children - twins, no less - she was not able to escape him. Against her will, she bore him two sons - two winged sons. Her human body not fit to give birth to these abominations, and having lost her will to live when she saw them, she died giving birth.

While Santaku had his beloved wings, he realised in agony just as much that he, personally, would never have them. With envy, he'd have to see them grow up and become the spitting image of a dream he'd never be able to grasp. Rather than to kill them, he decided to out his spite differently. His torment, his madness, his grief… all of it would be part of his two sons' lineage. What he had lost, they would have to bear.

The first born, who's wings grew to have feathers in grey and flecked with white, was named Niitah. It had no meaning, and his birth would hold no value. His lineage would be one of servitude and disgrace, one to bear and heal the spiteful wounds he had been given by his father.

The second born, considered perfection for his wings were graced with raven black feathers reflecting the corrupted soul and the darkened heart of his father, was named Himura - meaning  "Dark Red Town" - for his birth was the last, and the cause of death to his own mother, or so Santaku believed. Favoured since birth, Himura would be the one building up the future, the embodiment of perfection of the clan, imposing his full-blood superiority through combat specialisation and strength of will.

And so, the Santaku clan was formed. From these two brothers, two lineages grew and spread over the lands. One would be soft-hearted as a dove, forced to heal and support the whims and wiles of the other, who would live in luxury and bear the honour to show his perfection and supremacy within the clan.

Now, several generations later, the imposed hierarchy by Santaku the Mad continues to thrive even though the progenitor and his twin children are no longer among the living. Due to their inhumane appearance, the Santaku have remained mostly hidden in the Wilderness, keeping allegiances to a minimum. While most of them appreciate the Lands of the Hidden Mist, equally shrouded in mystery, most Santaku do not leave their home without their wings sealed and hidden by the clan's secret Fuuin jutsu. This mostly to prevent gaping and tracking while they go out shopping, spying or studying within the Village. Pride, though encouraged, should never endanger the clan.

Kekkei Genkai Name: Wings
All Santaku are born with bird wings. However, the colour revealed as the first feathers show up will determine which lineage they are considered to be from - the colour is inherited by the parents.

• The Himaru Lineage have wings with an unmistakably black colour
  
• The Niitah Lineage boasts most commonly any other colour running from dark grey to snow white, with rare colours being green, blue or red hues/patterns.
  

Kekkei Genkai Description:
The KKG of the clan is the ability to use their wings, with the help of Fuuton chakra, to achieve a similar grace as birds do. As the ninja raises in rank, his ability to manipulate the Fuuton chakra flowing in their wings improves, allowing him to fly better, longer and faster.

  The Santaku is able to lower the speed at which he goes down (by flapping or gliding), effectively slowing falling speed by half. Great for drops that would kill most others, though flight is yet impossible.
  The wings are able to be used in the creation of jutsu that require the use or presence of wings, as long as the jutsu doesn't hold flight of any sort.
  
  
• D Rank: 5 chakra/post, max 3 post/thread
  The wings of the Santaku have become strong enough to allow hovering in place to completely prevent falling. He may move horizontally at slow pace to adjust his positioning, with a maximum of 5 meters distance at a 1 m/s speed, but it will certainly not be of much use in rapid combat situations.

  The Santaku 's control over his wings and fuuton chakra is strong enough to allow normal flight at a speed up to 15 m/s. It's not a bird yet, but at least it allows certain tactical advantages.
  
  
• B Rank: 10 chakra/post, max 6 posts/thread
  Always reaching closer to the origins of their clan's power, the power of flight drastically improves, allowing a Santaku to assume normal flight at a speed of 30 m/s.
  Additionally, the wings may be used in the creation of jutsu that require the use or presence of Santaku wings, including jutsu requiring flight.
  
  
• A Rank: 10 chakra/post, max 8 posts/thread
  Improving still, flight is now able to be achieved up to 40 m/s.
  
  
• S Rank: 15 chakra/post, max 10 posts/thread
  Flight up to 50 m/s is now possible.
  

Drawbacks:

• Bird's Bone Structure
  To ensure the potential of flight, the bones of the Santaku are lighter and therefore more brittle compared to that of most people. They must take the "Frail" negative trait without a positive balance.
  
  
• Fuuton Intimacy
  Due to the intimate workings of their KKG and the Fuuton chakra, Santaku take +1 damage from all Katon-based attacks.
  
  
• Winging It
  While the wings offer tactical advantages rarely seen before, they are also their greatest weakness. Losing one of the wings doubles all chakra cost for the KKG as additional Fuuton chakra must be spend to compensate the lack of a wing during flight. Losing both wings permanently disables the use of the KKG. Similarly, sealing the wings to conceal or disable them denies the use of the KKG for that duration.
  
  Additionally, successful Raiton attacks hitting a Santaku in flight disables the use of the KKG until they hit the floor. No matter how they hit the floor, reaching the bottom grounds a Santaku and liberates him of the KKG paralysing effect - this also means that a Santaku not in flight does not suffer this part of the KKG weakness.

Updates:
KKG: Since the KKG originally was aimed for flight, I didn't change that. I attempted to pull the KKG somewhat more in line with jutsu guidelines (Flight usually being reserved to B+) mostly by restricting flight speed & time before B rank, while working around a few technical difficulties the original clan suffered from (altitude, resting to prolong flight time, etc...).

Drawbacks: I rewrote the original drawbacks fitting the obliged element (Fuuton, being weak to fire and strong to lightning) and the angel-like inspiration (bird bones) as well as adding a counter to the early potential of flight (raiton KKG paralysis) without necessarily inverting the elemental strength of fuuton.
