Mission Details:

Nayoko Nozara made sure to straighten his belt that he used to hold his forehead protector, bearing the symbol of Konohagakure No Sato. He was standing in front of a mirror in the restrooms of the administration building of the village that he had arrived in just a day earlier; Kirigakure no Sato. The young Hattori looked over himself in the mirror and straightened his blue jacket that he always more. Lastly, he tucked his necklace that held the symbol of his clan into his shirt before finally stepping out of the restroom and into the administration building proper. Nayoko had decided that after arriving in the village, it was best to make his cover story more believable, considering that he was actually here to investigate personal matters. As a cover, he was here to continue to strengthen relationships between his home village and the allied Village Hidden in the Mists. To accomplish this part of his visit, Nayoko had decided to take on a couple of missions suited to his rank. He unfortunately had to leave his travelling companion, Shimada, behind due to the fact that she had not yet received a promotion to be able to take on such missions, so Nayoko was stuck doing them alone.

Pushing aside the though, Nayoko strode up to the mission board and began to look through missions that he could take on. A few options caught his eye, but one stood out that would have a high level of visibly, as well as show that Kiri’s allies from Konoha were just as capable as they were when dealing with threats and criminals. He noted down the number for a mission that entailed travelling to the nearby shorelines and taking out smugglers aboard vessels trying to slip illegal goods into the country. It was a simple enough mission, but Nayoko was confident that it would still be a challenge. After all, the number of smugglers was not mentioned, so one shinobi against multiple smugglers could end up being dangerous regardless.

The twenty-two year old approached the desk where a Special Jonin was handing out a variety of mission scrolls and official assignments and placed the information for his own mission on the table. “Good morning, I’m a chuunin from the Land Hidden in the Leaves and I was hoping to take this mission for you all.” The young woman nodded slowly and looked down at the paper, reading it carefully before looking back up at Nayoko. “A B-Rank huh? Well, that’s fine by us, but since it is your first mission here in Kiri, we require you to travel with a shinobi of the village.” She then smirked a little bit before continuing. “But don’t worry, We’ve got a guy that will be by to take this mission later on as well, so I’ll make sure that he gets paired up with you. Just go head out to the village gates and he’ll meet you there.” With that, she handed him an official mission scroll which he attached to his belt, thanking the woman and heading out to the village gate to wait for his companion. He wondered what she had menat by there would be someone to come pick up the same mission later, and how she knew that for certain.

Well, at least it will be a good chance to meet someone from around here. You never know when you’ll need a guide of some sort. Nayoko nodded approval to himself as he walked up to the gates of the village and leaned against the wall, waiting for this mystery ninja to appear and ask him along on the mission into the outskirts of Kirigakure no Sato. Once more, he made sure that his headband was clearly visible, as it would be a clear indication as to who the stranger would have to look for near the gates. There were not many ninja around here, but there were even fewer ninja from Konoha. With that complete, the young Hattori just waited for his partner to arrive.

Burittsu

It was only an hour later as Burittsu finally emerged from the building itself like usual he never stayed long but this time he was getting the usual lecture that he’d taken to many smugglers on alone. They feared for his safety and honestly did care he refused to take on partners whenever he went unless it was of value to him by now the smugglers were not on the shoreline he took his time for a reason and that was to set the same trap. Over and over by now the forest in most areas smelled of blood and the stains could be seen on the trees or ground all the work of Burittsu himself. The constant nagging of the male shinobi inside made the females cringe it felt as if they supported him more than the guys he didn’t mind but to them he must have had the guts to go out there daily and slay those who dare threaten the village. Well to them he was sort of a hero in a way but from his eyes he felt as if he was the tool in the situation no other male enjoyed going out there day to day killing and slaying countless smugglers only for them to appear the week after.

Walking out his sported a blue sleeveless jacket with a fur hoodie on his lower body was black parachute pants and the regulated shinobi footwear with his hands in his pockets he never did care about anything. They left him to rot in a prison after all to him they all were the enemy in different ways but now they look at him with some sort of respect as he quickly climbs up the ranks of the shinobi. He did this not only for him but for those that have fallen to prove to everyone that with nothing but hard work the ranking is just a title it doesn’t describe the shinobi in general. But no one truly opened their eyes skill was all that was needed to excel from rank to rank walking down the path cutting through the village heading down the main gate he only did this for Genbu himself. Failing now wasn’t a option he had things to prove and get off his chest but now he kept them hidden and concealed deep inside his chest for now the mission was in front of him and he was in need of more of ryo.

“They didn’t stop yelling at me about my safety knowing them they already set up a partner for me.. Such a pain hope whoever it is doesn’t get in my way and go off and die that would make me look bad..”

Around this time the street was busy as the kids played and adults sat in bars drinking and entertaining each other of stories from their shinobi days or even recent missions. Eventually he hoped to enjoy a day with someone he could call a friend or comrade at the most and just enjoy the day without seeing blood being spilled all over the ground. Well that day would come when he was probably dead the shinobi of this world were all the same to him well from his point of view since he the incident he hasn’t left the village until being strong enough to defend himself. This time without the aid of his teacher not like he was of any help to start with but this time he meant it someone was going to pay but for now he had a job to do and a role to play but growing stronger was always his main objective. Looking up at the blue skies as the scattered clouds themselves passed over some blocking the rays of the sun others just giving some sort of shade for a mere second.

From above he felt the eyes of those who came before him always blessing him and keeping a good eye on the shinobi as if they were the barriers which kept him in line reminding him what he was fighting for in a world like this. But like always the choice was in his hands for him to turn on everything he loved or to move on taking only the spirit of the fallen with him in his heart so he could mourn and care what happen to those before him sighing it had seem all his thinking before only made him walk faster than needed to be. Looking at the gate that was now open as the villagers and shinobi dashed in and out it all looked normal from the distance but as he got closer someone was standing there looking lost. Or being the fact that could be another partner complaining about it would not mean a thing it was to late he was now given an ally but he could only hope if he was actually ready for things to occur. Getting closer to the gate he saw something out of the normal another shinobi from a foreign land he seemed ready for the mission.

“Well sorry about that stranger I got lost thinking. Let’s go slay these smugglers..”

Nayoko had been waiting for some time, standing at the gate of the Village Hidden in the Mists before a man seemed to approach him fairly directly. He has almost as tall as the Hattori man though he seemed to be quite a bit younger, and his skin was much darker that Nayoko’s own. His navy blue hair was cut short and parted to the right side, and the blue of his eyes nearly matched that of his hair. He seemed to be a fairly strong man as well, his gait showing a determination that Nayoko found rare in other shinobi. He was wearing a blue jacket like Nayoko, though his was sleeveless and had a fur hood. Nayoko could not see any object or symbol to identify him as a ninja of Kirigakure no Sato, but his first words explained all that he needed to know. “Well sorry about that stranger I got lost thinking. Let’s go slay these smugglers..” Nayoko nodded in approval and turned to walk alongside the man as he seemed to show no signs of slowing down. “Sounds good to me. I’m Nayoko, and in case the headband didn’t give it away, I’m from the Village Hidden in the Leaves. I’m glad that I won’t have to navigate the area on my own given that it’s my first time really in the wilderness around these parts.”

With that, the duo set off on their mission together. Nayoko was quiet for the first little but of their travel, assuming that stealth would be optimal for the mission at hand. But after they had been wandering for a little while, Nayoko realized that they were not headed in the direction that he assumed they should have been going. Raising an eyebrow, he asking his companion about the change of venue. “So, I take it we aren’t headed for the shore after all? I’m guessing you know better where these guys usually show up, considering that the people in the administration building said tat you had done this a few times before….is that true?"

He was waiting for an answer when it hit his senses. First, the air began to smell of iron and sweat, before the taste of iron hit his tongue. He knew all too well what this was; blood. He could taste and smell the blood on the air in the forest around him. Looking around while still keeping pace with the shinobi of Kiri, he began to notice the source of the smell all around him. On the ground and the trees in a very large chunk of this section of the woods, the area was stained with blood. Looking around, he took in a deep breath and glanced up to his escort and partner. “Ah, I take it this is your handiwork then…Good work I guess.” He let out a dry chuckle that sounded more like a cough. He was not nervous exactly, but he was getting some pre-battle jitters to say the least.

He used to get this feeling every time he went to spar in the academy or when he used to go on missions, but eventually the feeling went away as things became routine. That boost of adrenaline had only recently returned to his blood stream after his most recent mission with the Sword Saint of Konoha, Mitsuo Sarutobi. When he had first encountered the man, he felt like he was going to die right them and there for being in the wrong pace at the wrong time. Instead, he had been encouraged and inspired by the man, and now found himself shaking before battle, not because of fear, but because of the excitement he felt.

“Well, let me know what you need me to do to help you out and I’ll get it done. After all, you’re in charge here.” With that, he went silent and readied himself to complete whatever task was going to come his way next.

Burittsu

It didn’t take long really to know this man was from Konoha but unlike the other one he met a while ago he was chatty even knowing he was about to enter a battlefield but it never bothered the man. Walking through the forest the smell of blood was indeed dense and it would only grow worse as soon a large portion of the forest would be consumed this indeed was his handy work but he never decided to clean up after his mess. Leaving that to the cleaning crew and those who jog down information since this was the male's time Burittsu didn’t have to look at him to get a clear picture his voice told the whole story. Indeed it was amusing in a sense because that blue jacket that he had would soon be stained with blood and in turn would be a terrible stain to remove. Cracking his neck once as it seemed to be the suitable answer to the rookies questions he could only teach him about the smugglers through action alone quickly jumping up into the shadows of the tree quickly jumping from branch to branch heading deeper into the forest.

Thirty minutes came and went as Burittsu finally came to a stop on a branch by now the pair was exactly in the middle of it all the middle of the forest as dense as it was Burittsu knew every edge there was to it. It was basically the long way to give them time to set up in front of him was a nice opening the blood was gone in this area due to the fact Burittsu took good care of this spot using it as a constant trap. Clean as a whistle not a smell of blood in sight well unless they went the same direction the two just came from that’s where they always seem to go off too when they realize death is following them. No visual or scout prowess was needed to see that they were outnumbered a total of six a vast number he hasn’t seen in awhile but either way death awaited them all.

Before even moving it was necessary to see what they were smuggling into the country even sometimes the smugglers switched it up surprising Burittsu well before they met their end that he can at least give them before they are sent to the afterlife. There was no crates but what caught his eye did tick him off just a little bit almost allowing his aggression to get to the best of him. In the middle of the camp was four poles each had a kunoichi what was amusing about the fact that all of them had the same face. A family it seemed but each indeed had their own attitude and it showed on how they carried themselves as prisoners one out of the four was the leader to keep their heads on straight. Burittsu just had to kill their kidnappers but it was a good summary that the smugglers once more are attempting to smuggle out human’s. In moments like this Burittsu just sat down with a smirk on his face and willing to wait the extra or two till the sun had completely vanish leaving them in the darkness.

Crossing his arms he watched the group of smugglers more than the captives they were the least of his concern these were man who went to the point of taking children. The women must have grown to hard for them to handle so they reduce themselves down to those who barely can form a strong enough jutsu to wipe them out. Well for now anyway if they were lucky they met those who were afraid of doing anything about the situation such as these four well he never allowed himself to grow an attachment to those who got captured. But if they were used as leverage they would be the first to die or in the smugglers case to be released before they all died. Either way it didn’t concern Burittsu it was all up to how the smugglers reacted and that was all he needed to choose from killing the smugglers or killing them all leaving a total mess for the clean up crew.

“Time will tell.. If they are truly worthy of becoming shinobi or not for now it’s an easy six stop them before they can even get close to any of the girls. If they do get one of them and use them as a shield of something don’t hesitate it’s life or death..”

And with that it was over his wording was brief and to the point to his new comrade he must do what he thinks is right but if he didn’t Burittsu would simply handle it for him hoping he wasn’t weak. He’d enjoy watching him try to slaughter off these smugglers but for now it seemed it was best for him to get his mind off the situation down below gazing up into the sky he was now focused on something else. The future that was before him as a shinobi was that of a long journey that must be taken if he is willing to find himself but it was no worries at all soon the day would come where everyone would see his smile and his bright blue eyes. Shine through the darkness and reveal himself for who he truly is to the world a man with a vision to allow everyone to be cared for no matter the rank in the village.

Scratching the back of his neck it seemed even if that sounded like a dream it would one day come true for himself and the battles for the truth will happen and the world would watch in amazement as he would stand there clashing with the best to get his point across. Even if it meant him being the one who died in the process he was willing to die for something he loved not like the others he met who only obey the rules and act accordingly because that is what expected of them as if they were tools hanging sharpened and ready for battle but never used to their full limit. All he could do now was wait until his time had come to rid of the threat he only hoped his partner had enough patience to wait if he didn’t he would have to make him wait his way.

Throughout the whole trip, despite his questions, the shinobi from Kiri remained silent, only making a sound when he cracked his neck in response to Nayoko’s questions about the blood being his handiwork. The Hattori could not help but shake his head a little but. He had heard rumours that The Village Hidden in the Mists was home to some of the most bloodthirsty and dangerous shinobi in all of the ninja world, but he had always dismissed them as just that, rumours and stories that were made up and spread in order to create fear in the hearts of Kirigakure no Sato’s enemies. In this moment, as he jumped from treetop to treetop with the young man before him, he wondered that the possibility of every rumour he had heard being true.

After travelling like this for around half of an hour his guide stopped abruptly in a branch. Nayoko stopped beside him and cast a glance at his surroundings. The forest was extremely dense here, and Nayoko could not help but think that they had arrived in the exact center of the woods. More curious than that though was the distinct lack of blood in this area. The young Hattori raised an eyebrow at this, but did not bother inquiring with his partner, knowing that he would only receive silence in return. He looked over at the man with him and saw him surveying something in the distance. Following his gaze, it was not difficult to spot the camp of smugglers in the woods. He looked over everything, and could not help but clench his fists until his knuckles had turned white. There were six men, outnumbering the two shinobi three to one, and they seemed to be decently armed, but nothing that Nayoko figured he could not handle. What made him so angry though, was the cargo that was on display for the dup to see. Tied to four poles in the middle of this camp were four kunoichi, one per pole. They seemed young, and they were most likely related based on their similar appearances, but they were also fairly young. Grimacing, Nayoko turned to the shinobi who was in charge of the mission. “So, we move now right?” But in response, the man simply sat down and smirked. His hands still balled into fists, and knowing that the younger man was wise to wait until dark, Nayoko sat beside him, leaning his back against the tree.

They sat for some time before the Kiri ninja spoke for the forest time in a long time, “Time will tell.. If they are truly worthy of becoming shinobi or not for now it’s an easy six stop them before they can even get close to any of the girls. If they do get one of them and use them as a shield of something don’t hesitate it’s life or death..” With that, he leaned back as well and looked up at the sky. Unsure of how to react, Nayoko simply nodded and leaned back as well, allowing his eyes to close for while the time passed and darkness fell over the forest. He did not allow himself to sleep, but instead spent the time thinking of what else was to come of this trip. He was here for Tano Koyanagi, and once he had the answers that the missing-nin held, he would head home with Shimada. The Land of Water was not for him.

A little over two hours had passed when Nayoko allowed his eyes to snap open; smiling that the darkness that now enveloped him and his comrade. Sitting up from his relaxed position, the young Hattori moved into a crouch and surveyed the scene below alongside his partner. They were all still awake, as darkness had only recently fell; two of them were standing guard near the prisoners while two more were patrolling the perimeter, disappearing behind the trees in the dense forest for a few moments at a time as they stepped in and out of Nayoko’s line of sight. The last two were sitting in the camp near a small fire and were cooking some sort of meal. Placing a hand on the Kiri ninja’s shoulder, turned to face him. “It’s dark now, and we’ve waited long enough. Time to end these lowlifes.” With that, he jumped from the branch and into another nearby one, being careful not to make any noise or be seen by the men below.

It was not long before Nayoko was in the branches of a tree, hiding behind a trunk that one of the patrols was heading toward. Furrowing his brow, he pulled out his kunai and waited for just a little whole longer. Those few seconds felt like an eternity, but sure enough the man stepped below the tree, and that is when Nayoko struck. Jumping down from the tree and pushing himself toward his target, he drove his knew into the man’s skull, sending him crashing into the ground. Wasting no time, he drove his kunai up under his chin an through his head, ending him. He looked dup to notice that the others in the center of the camp could see him, but were stunned with surprise. Dashing toward them, he exhaled a spiraling wind ball into his palms and launched them at the man that was closest to the women, quickly following up with two more directed to the other smuggler that had been guarding them directly. With them dazed for a moment, Nayoko took the opportunity to close the gap, following up with a Wild Water Wave jutsu spewed from his mouth to further distance the men from their soon to be former prisoners. Not waiting for them to recover, the young Hattori rushed up to them and ended their lives with two swift slashes of their throats.

Pulling his kunai into a reverse grip, Nayoko spun to survey what his companion had been able to  accomplish, breathing deeply and still ready to do battle.

Watching the stranger leave him and go off alone into battle was something he knew for himself was gonna be too good to watch to see if he was actually worthy of the headband he had on. But the odds of the girls living did decrease taking out three alone and in such a manner was interesting but he supposed sitting in the tree wouldn’t be considered a good partner and so he pushed off the branch descending below onto the battlefield in the open making his appearance known to the remaining three smugglers. Unlike his partner he stuck to one move and by now the smugglers should have heard of it well only one jutsu as he walked a couple paces ahead his hands himself began to transform into claws made of ice. Depending on how much chakra he focused in one or both of his palms in this case both of his hands were not infused with chakra and his nature. With a faint smirk the slaughter had already began as the three smugglers could only look on without moving as if reality itself has caught up to them and told them the bad news.

But it seemed after watching their comrades die they knew they couldn’t run from the man himself the one who was already ready for the blood to begin pouring the three slowly grouped together forming a triangle like formation two on the sides one on the top. Paying attention to both shinobi but mostly at Burittsu as every time they look away it had seem he grew closer taking step by step savouring the death like its was a meal he enjoyed the fear. What caught his attention was the sudden burst of courage as the one leading the formation came out in a roar of fury swinging his blade at the male like a crazy man. Burittsu did not move or flinch due to the fact the blade itself wasn’t coming at such speeds as the smuggler thought he was swinging it was pity on the man. As it came down on him Burittsu intercepted the incoming edge of the blade with one finger as the blade itself was met with a end freezing and shattering in mere seconds leaving his owner now defenseless.

Due to the fact that the claws themselves were could enough to produce frostbite and even more damage to an actual person the smugglers probably tried their best by now to avoid Burittsu. Especially since the other nine squads themselves never returned after stepping on the land it was his fault for letting one of them escape his grip on his first solo mission but every time he made up for it by maiming all the smugglers. Well for this smuggler it was all too late as he turned around in fear attempting to run Burittsu plunged his left hand through the back of the smuggler. Ripping through the other side but this time with a heart pierced by two claws as it beat began to slow no blood began to to pour just yet the heart itself quickly began to freeze up as the yell of the smuggler did show the rest of the smugglers that their time was up.

Even he couldn’t help but chuckle as he pulled his fingers apart splitting the heart in half and plunging his other hand into the corpse pulling on opposite sides till ripping the body in half and throwing it down on the ground. As if it was dirty laundry he was out for blood this night and the smugglers had what he wanted the most and he was going to get it even if it meant killing them like animals. In a mere bent of his legs his body began to cover the distance that was between the him and the two the smugglers didn’t have a choice or the reaction time it seemed as their hands barely lifted up. Death was already introduced to them as the arms of Burittsu pierced through their chest this time not killing them but playing with them as if it was torture pulling his arms out he only watched the pain they would begin to endure.

Walking away from them as he went off to slash free each of the shinobi the smugglers behind him began to yell in pain screaming for mercy but Burittsu wasn’t going to give them a quick ending. In front of everyone else except Burittsu of course since he seen this happen a million times he stood the side facing his partner and the hostages as he gave them a clear show of what is to become of anyone who crosses his path. The smugglers continued to scream until it stopped they were frozen all the blood in their body were done with frozen to the core as the ice itself attacked their main organs giving them internal bleeding and multiple sharp pains. The type to leave anyone in a form of begging for a quick and simple death but their deaths had to be memorized. As they remained frozen in position he simply calmed himself reverting his hands back to normal as for the now frozen statues he only looked back as the blood itself began to pour out of their ears, eyes and mouth looking back the hostages it was time to get them out and return them home after proper checking at the hospital to make sure they were alright.

“Well next time you decide to head on out by yourself kill everyone don’t just look because next time it might be the hostages receiving the blade. Overall you handled it and did what you had to do. Now ladies let’s return back to the village for a nice check up on your mental and physical health and off you go no detours just home. Understand? Well don’t even answer that you don’t have a choice parents probably ready to come out here and slaughter some people if it meant your safety.”

Quickly placing one girl on his shoulders and one on his back as he carried the remaining two between his arms he quickly leaped into the trees and began to jump from branch to branch heading back home. The girls held on with all their might as all they could see were darkness and the light from the camp they were in slowly begin to fade away being eaten up by the dark Burittsu was moving fast and nimble from branch to branch not missing a single step. Even if it took a while to get back his new mission was to not let these girls experience more of this than they needed in their life. Even though they were part of the village they were not just young shinobi they were the future and probably the ones to change this village for the better so in turn he would give them each a fighting chance.

“Mhmm the new generation is gonna be in for a ride.”

Nayoko had turned just in time to watch the mysterious man from the Land of Water tear one of the remaining smugglers into two, blood soaked, frozen pieces. He could not stop his mouth from falling agape as he watched on. The man was more of a monster, slaughtering the men without a single sign of remorse, even going so far as to chuckle while killing the men. Nayoko could understand killing the men, as he had done so himself. He even understood killing them brutally to intimidate anyone else that may try to smuggle through this part of the woods. But to kill with such a malice? To kill them while laughing? That was too much for the young Hattori.

Averting his gaze, he slowly made his way over to the women that were being held. By the time he arrived, the man was already cutting them free while his fallen foes cried out for a release form their pain. Nayoko turned toward them, intent on ending their suffering, but could only watch in horror as they stopped, but Nayoko could tell they yet lived through even more pain. It was too late to help them, even by killing them; they would not be alive much longer anyway. He looked back at the man, unable to speak as he began picking up the girls and once again, speaking to Nayoko. “Well next time you decide to head on out by yourself kill everyone don’t just look because next time it might be the hostages receiving the blade. Overall you handled it and did what you had to do. Now ladies let’s return back to the village for a nice check up on your mental and physical health and off you go no detours just home. Understand? Well don’t even answer that you don’t have a choice parents probably ready to come out here and slaughter some people if it meant your safety.” Nayoko grit his teeth, “Well, it’s good to know that I shouldn’t except backup from my partner then.” He tried to think of more to say, but could only shake his head as the man leapt away without a word, carrying the hostages with him.

Nayoko slumped down into the snow for a moment, trying to process all he had seen. It had been a massacre beyond anything he had ever witnessed, and it left him feeling ill. Yes, the men were criminals, yes they had to be stopped, but to torture them on front of those women was unnecessary to say the least, and insane in the simplest terms. Eventually, Nayoko was able to stand himself back up and began his slow walk back to the village. If that man is any indication, I don’t think I will enjoy my stay here in the Village Hidden in the Mists…
