Kuno

Kuno

D-rank
Mission Details:

The sun was blistering down as always as Kuno Uchiha walked along through the Endless Dunes with a small caravan in tow. He had reported his findings regarding an area for a small outpost, and the village administration had responded quickly in hopes of establishing Sunagakure no Sato’s presence out in the dunes as soon as possible. Since he had discovered the location, Kuno had been granted the “privilege” of escorting the caravan of people and supplies to the location that he had found. Originally, he was more annoyed than anything. He had drawn up a perfectly good map and would rather continue his exploration out into the unexplored expanses of the desert, but instead he was stuck on guard duty for a caravan that was very unlikely to be attacked.

However, as the day progressed, he found himself not so upset out the mission he had been put on. Sure, it was hot, boring, and just basically a repeat of the previous day; but the young Uchiha fund himself content that one positive thing had come of this mission. He was being relied on. He looked to the group of ten or so people that had loaded up the wagons with supplies for the new outpost that he had mark the location for, an could not help but smile. Hopefully this is the start of them seeing that not all Uchiha are bad people. We’ve just got a bad reputation.

The trip had taken Kuno a little over a day to get to, but he was also making a map at the time. By his judgement the group should make it to the location by evening. Then they could set up some tents and finish doing the true bulk of the work in the morning. The time passed by pretty quickly, consisting mostly of Kuno chatting with the caravan folks and scouting ahead. At one point, a couple of coyotes wandered into the path of their journey; they were sickly and hungry looking, but they were also weak because of that. Kuno was able to take care of them quite quickly with his miao dao, killing one of them and sending the other running scared.

Kuno was not far off with his assumption on their timeline, as they arrived at the location for the checkpoint just before the sun started setting. They spent a couple of hours setting up tents for everyone before starting a small campfire and enjoying a small meal with the group. They laughed, told stories, and even danced a little while one of the men played a guitar he had brought. The young Uchiha did not join in on that aspect of the night, but was happy to sit back and clap along with the music. All through the evening he noticed that not one person pointed out how they didn’t trust him, or even looked at him suspiciously. Perhaps it was because of the new Kazekage, perhaps the influx of ninja of late, or perhaps it was just because Kuno had done a good job finding this spot. He was not sure, but in any case, he was happy that he could make his clan known and not be shunned for it.

The next day was about as simple as Kuno thought it would be. The group woke up early and began formally setting up tents, building divider fences for the area, and preparing the ground to house this new checkpoint. The young Uchiha stayed for most of the day, assisting in any way he could before finally getting permission from the caravan leader to head back to the village. It was a bit of a trek back, but Kuno was feeling so good that he hardly noticed the time passing until he finally walked through the gates in the middle of the night. His walk home was quick after that, and before he knew it, he was face down in bed, asleep. He could deal with the paperwork in the morning….
