Clan Name: Kaizoku (海賊)

Clan History: Outside of all villages, outside of all lands, there is a group, whose name all villages distrust, all villages dislike. One that even others that exist outside of the law are lack luster to trust. This group, one with its own laws, that defies all laws of others, has a name that unifies them all. Pirates.
Pirates are, historically, known for one thing, one consistent tie that keeps all variations in the world the same. Greed. There is a pirate code of take what you want, when you want. A code that many follow. Of course, there was much, much more to life as a pirate than greed. It was merely from an outside perspective that greed be the most important aspect of a pirate’s life. However often times this was not the case. Many became pirates out of distrust with their home village. Be it the politics, the laws, individuals, or the regime, every pirate had their own reasons for leaving their home. But regardless, they were migrant. Scattered, united under various banners and captains. While a large amount did fight for treasure and riches, many also fought for a place to call their own.
And one such group of pirates, was led by one known as Captain Kaizoku. A fierce looking man with a heart of gold, Kaizoku led a rather small band of pirates with only one goal. To make a place for themselves in the world. They lived outside of the law, and as such did things their own way, travelling outside of borders, training in ways that were odd, and stealing from rival pirates, often in merciless raids. Were law not so fickle, perhaps the band would be seen as great people with great deeds for what they did, attacking other pirates. However, the mere name of piracy was a crime, one that the Captain endured. Endured, but not without reason. Captain Kaizoku would often send off his crewmates, getting them to gather information about the various villages, relearning the histories and practices as he formulated a plan.
After several months, the pirate captain got a plan, having familiarized himself with the politics of the five great nations. Kaizoku gathered as many of his crew as possible, before going around and combating rival pirate crews, whether they be sand pirates, or sea pirates, ensuring to kill the captains, and gather the bodies. A gruesome method, but the pirate captain had grown merciless in his many years of living outside the law, and had a method to his madness. Now with a reputation for bloodthirstiness, and brutality, as well as his original bounty of piracy, Kaizoku ordered his first mate to kill him, and use the bodies of the captains as a way to gain leverage with the major shinobi nations. Citizenship was not what they wished for – if this was the case, they would not have left in the first place. But instead, the removal of their bounty was desired, the allowance for the crew to exist as their own entity without danger by their free travel. The nations agreed, although some were more hesitant to do so than others.
The crew enjoyed their newfound freedom from bounty, continuing to harass rival crews and, over time, even gaining new members, and some that were born into the misfit family that is the crew. It has become a rite of passage that any that possess a shown knowledge or leaning towards chakra manipulation will go on a pilgrimage, going out in to the wide world, and taking the teachings of the pirate with them, to make a name for themselves, and bring pride and glory to the name of the pseudo-clan: The Kaizoku.
Members: Captain Ironwraith Kaizoku (deceased)
Kekkei Genkai Name: Way of the Pirate (Kaizoku no michi - 海賊の道)
Kekkei Genkai Description: Members of the Kaizoku, whether born into the crew, or joined through ideals, are pirates first and foremost, following the teachings and methodology of the original Captain Kaizoku that garnered him such a reputation. To this degree, starting with the first mate, and being passed on by “clan” heads since, the method of fighting used by the Kaizoku was trained further and almost acted as a method of recognition for who was a member of the clan.
- Yarr!:
Originally relying on their skill with weaponry to survive and raid before learning the skills of ninjutsu from the shinobi they often acted as mercenaries to, the Kaizoku clan’s teachings mean that the members still rely on the techniques. This was mainly done in a surprisingly defensive style, wherein the pirates would prioritize parrying and defending to cause rival pirates to grow disarmed or quickly fatigued, allowing for easy plundering.- Because of this, while within 5m of an enemy wielding a weapon, the Kaizoku, while wielding a weapon, counts their reaction time as 1 tier higher for the sake of defending and countering.
- Furthermore, the members of the Kaizoku are… Unorthodox, as perhaps the best way to describe them. Often to help get over the idea of being international criminals, or just in revelry, the members of the clan would drink rum, and if attacked during this time, use the bottle as a makeshift weapon. Regardless of subspec, members of the Kaizoku can use broken bottles as proficiently as they can any other weapon, and are able to deal up to 1/2 inch cuts and pierces with the broken glass, which cannot cut through bone, however, does hurt. A lot.
- Furthermore, the user can app for higher ranked bottles than the starting rum to deal more damage, however these bottles will not have the durability refreshment of E rank items, and as such, after every use, the user will need to “reforge” the bottle, to represent buying another glass. E rank ones, meanwhile, are just like E rank items – think of them like the cheap stuff.
- Because of this, while within 5m of an enemy wielding a weapon, the Kaizoku, while wielding a weapon, counts their reaction time as 1 tier higher for the sake of defending and countering.
Members of the Kaizoku clan begin with a C ranked Cutlass, and the E ranked Rum bottle found below – whether it’s full or not is up to the character on a thread to thread basis.

As they are pirates first, shinobi second, and only begin their journey upon learning how to control chakra, members of the Kaizoku clan may only begin with ONE of the Academy techniques (of their choice), and must learn the rest – this is how they had discovered their affinity for chakra manipulation. On top of this, they do not begin with any shinobi tools – the only items a clans member begins with is their cutlass, and alcohol. After all, what more could a pirate need?
Due to being pirates, members of the Kaizoku are not trusted by the shinobi nations easily. Members of the Kaizoku may not begin as a part of a village, and must begin as a Wanderer. In order to join a village, a member of the Kaizoku must do a thread with a member of the village they wish to join of at LEAST B rank or above, reach a word count of 2000 words that cannot be used to train, and then get Kage permission to join the village, linking to the thread that was used.
While not a member of a village, any mission the Kaizoku does has its ryo reward halved. This is to represent the distrust the nation has for the Kaizoku. This also applies to crime missions, for the Kaizoku have a reputation for going after criminals and other pirates as their targets for mass raids.
As the Kaizoku send out their potential shinobi to make a name for themselves, and achieve as much as they can, this means the Kaizoku member must be more outgoing than usual. Every social requirement for rank up is increased by 1 thread (meaning a Genin would require 7 threads to rank up to Chuunin).
