It was a brand new morning at last. Outside the manor, there was a circle of storm clouds circling about. The rain had ceased for a time and affected the areas surrounding the manor. But, it would return soon enough. For now, the sun's rays washed over the building and presented a fine source of light until the clouds closed in. Awakening with the day was Teru. She sat on the edge of her new bed as the morning light poured inside. Surprisingly, the rest she had gotten refreshed her body considerably. Of course, she would not jump into action just yet. Only when her body was capable of intense activity again. Of course, if she was ordered by Sero, she would do as she was told and act out. Teru sighed and swung her legs over the side of the mattress, out from under the warmth of the covers. With the swipe of her hand and the rubbing of her fingers, the tiredness was wiped away from her eyes.

Her feet touched the hardwood floors, but retracted them upon feeling the coldness. As slowly as she could, she eased her bare feet down until the coldness chilled them no longer. She strided lightly over to the window and pulled the curtains together. It was dark in the room now, but there was enough light that allowed for her to see where she was going. Teru was stripped to only her undergarments now. She had not decided on what she would do with the old pair of clothes she had. The size was too big for her now. They could have been tailored and fitted. Or, perhaps, sticking to a newer attire would better suit her. Wearing the same, old outfit all the time did not suit a growing ninja. Well, in her case, shrinking.

Teru then went over to the dresser, which was a bit of a chore to find in the dark. Opening the top drawer of the dresser, she found the outfit mentioned to her by Sero Osada. The top was a sleeveless, purple shirt. She slipped her arms and head through the holes. It fit, for the most part, but it hung loosely due to her having lost a few pounds. Then, she put on a pair of black shorts. They were not as loose fitting as the shirt, so Teru had an easy time keeping them on. Teru smiled and went to her ninja gear that was laid out on the bed, and she applied them to her person. Her forehead protector slipped over her hair and tightened around her forehead.

Sero was waiting on her. The night before, he had told her to meet in the dining hall. She anticipated the readiness he had for her. He was going to be watching her every move and make sure she did what he expected of her. Now was not the time to give in to second thoughts, and she had second thoughts. Rather than going down the stairs and entering the dining hall, she could instead sneak out the front door. Sero had companions with him in the manor, and there were surely more than dozens. They would spot her running out the door in a matter of seconds. But, if she used the Body Flicker, then she would have a chance at getting away successfully. Teru shook her head. No, that was not a good idea. Sero himself would pursue the Genin. If it was truly he who was going to kill her. If it was he who was the blood-starved beast of the night. Running away would be nothing but futile. Even if she wanted to escape, she could not. The confession was revealed, and she had given her vows as a permanent ally. Betraying him would be betraying the village.

Teru Uchiha narrowed her eyes and pulled her closed fist to her heart. Ever since she was born, Teru had a love for Kirigakure. If she left, it would mean that she would lose everything she ever held dear. She clenched her wrist with her other hand and gazed deeply at the wall ahead of her. To lose everything... she could not bear it. It would be the death of her soul, and then her body would be as rot as the denizens of Hell. So, Teru exited the bedroom and closed the door behind her. The dining hall was on the first floor, she believed. Her expression was serious and cold. Not comparable to Sero's, but close enough.

At the base of the staircase, she made a turn and stepped through a set of doors. It was her guess of a direction to go in. The manor was larger than anything she ever knew, so it felt like a maze. At most, it took her something like 15 minutes before she found anything resembling a dining hall. "Hmph." Teru had a pout on her face as she walked through another set of doors, the right ones this time. There was a long table with enough chairs to seat a family. The pout faded and she stepped further inside. Compared to her old home inside the walls of Kirigakure, this room was an incredible sight. It felt fancy and sophisticated. Haunting, but sophisticated. Teru's hands gripped the edge of one of the seats, but she did not pull it back to seat herself. Not yet, anyway. Her eyes searched around the diner for Sero. There was no sign of him, but she saw him as the type of person to suddenly appear within a moment's notice. Once he made himself known to her, she would join him at the table.

While she stood there in wait, Teru pondered over this third meeting between her and Sero. He did not disclose the details about what was to happen there in the dining hall. Perhaps, while she had been resting, he had gone out to find replacements for the empty positions in the squad that should have been completed months ago. No, not that was not likely. There were higher chances that he had gone straight to sleep. Well, she was about to find out.

Sero had gone to his own bed after leaving her. A room with no windows and one entrance visible to the eye. A heavy door with a sliding metal bolt. As if some sort of prison door had been moved here with no way of looking in or out. Only difference being this prison locked from the inside. A beast not caged by any other but itself. The door wasn't meant to protect the monster perhaps but to protect those who would not tread lightly in his domain. Idly he stepped within and his grey eyes scanned the near barren room. Nothing to hide behind. One mattress in the center with furnishings but otherwise empty save for the book shelf and desk at the far end. A stack of scrolls and books sitting there under a lamp. It was dark within. Only the light from the hallway filtering through. Idly he stepped in once he was confident nothing was within his territory and shut the door. Latching the lock into place with a heavy thunk before moving through the pitch darkness. Moving from memory onto the bed and laying upon it on his back. Letting his mind drift to sleep in a room where one could not tell if their eyes were open or not.

As if by an instinct Sero woke within that same darkness come morning. His eyes starring into the darkness. Yet he would move without hesitation or pause across the room. As he did hidden within the dark room his clothes faded into mist and reformed. The robes from the night before replaced. Black pants tucked into padded shoes. A white robe covering him with a near floral pattern with a red undershirt barely showing in the v of the chest where the robe was tucked over itself. A line of white fur going over his right shoulder and down to his waist on both the front and the back. As he unlatched the door a single Katana formed on his hip latched to his belt. The door opened and he felt not the pain of the sudden light in his eyes. Merely adjusting to it as he walked. The door swinging closed behind him. His silent steps moving him down the hall. He would pause at the corner to another hallway as suddenly whispers filled the hall. His attention on them as they spoke in a mixed sound before his eyes shifted back towards his room. A wisp of something going around a corner. The child version of himself.

He knew what it was that had failed to stalk him and fled. He could do little to it nor could it do anything to him. Yet some part of him feared it touching him. It wondered if his soul could return so simply. If the spiders would abandon him for it and if he could survive them. He supposed he could kill them all if needed. Still it wasn't for now so he continued down the hall. Moving to the dining area and shifting through the double doors with a creaking noise as they opened at his approach. He moved into the dining hall with a casual pace which with the grace at which he moved seemed like he nearly glided. He would shift along with a glance at Teru before moving to the head of the table and stopping there. Settling into his seat before he would glance to Teru. Waiting for her to sit as well before the doors to the kitchen would open. On the back of a spider a platter would be brought forth with two plates on it. The spider would stop at Sero first before setting a plate in front of him. It would then move to Teru. For a moment it would stare at her. As tall as her waist standing up. As if debating ending her instead of feeding her. With a swift movement it would slam her plate down in front of her with force enough to cause a bang. A glance from Sero though was enough for it to scurry away. Then the glance moved to Teru. Watching her as he cut into the sliced honey ham and scrambled eggs on his plate with the fork set on the table.

"I assume then you will be staying. Will your conviction last I wonder. Last time was barely a test. I have not yet begun to push you."

It was not going to be long before the storm raged on with a newfound strength. The low rumble of thunder did sound, but it was as faint as the sneaking feet of a mouse. Outside of the manor, the wind was blowing at an uneven pace. It would be merciless and push against the walls at times, but then it would slow to an easygoing breeze that wanted nothing more than to freely travel. The power of the wind was enough to move the clouds through their course. A mighty force it was to circulate the condensed water vapor en masse. It was a shame that they were blocking most of the sun now. It would perhaps be an hour before the concealment of light would be complete, or maybe sooner if nature was feeling eager to cause for the island and its inhabitants to be soaked.

Teru had enough of watching what happened outside the window, and she had enough looking at much of anything for the time being. However, the waiting was cut short, as a figure stepped into the dining hall. She turned her head and took note of it being Sero, who walked along to his favored seat at the table. His movement was graceful, but nothing formal. When he sat down and looked her way, it made Teru feel a slight embarrassment that she was watching him the whole time while not even taking a seat herself. So, she hurriedly pulled the chair out from under the table's surface, sat her bottom down on it, and scooted forward so that she was no longer acting awkwardly. Shortly after she had taken her place across from where Sero sat, the kitchen doors had welcomed in a rather intimidating individual. Not a human, like the two of them, but a creature with more than two legs. Teru refrained from staring, only sneaking a couple of glances at the spider as it delivered the morning's meal to both Sero and her. Although, it did not seem so friendly towards Teru. It forcefully placed the meal down in front of her, causing for the Uchiha to swallow a choking lump in her throat. It was not fear that she felt concerning the spider, which was nearly as tall as her, but great disbelief by how large it was.

Both eyes fell down to the contents of the breakfast meal. Cleanly cut ham that smelled of sweetness, and expertly cooked eggs to the side. It looked and smelled delicious to the point that a mere glance made Teru's stomach rumble with hunger. Briefly, she peeked at Sero before taking the fork and knife by the plate. She cut into the finely cooked meat and ate with her best table manners. It was heaven for the tongue. The cooking she handled herself was fine, but not quite as good as this was. "I assume then you will be staying. Will your conviction last I wonder. Last time was barely a test. I have not yet begun to push you." Teru listened, and swallowed the bit of food before answering to her new sensei

It was a correct assumption. The moment Teru joined him for breakfast, her final decision was locked. As soon as she was able to, she spoke in a tone of politeness, "I do intend to stay, as long as you find me to be useful. Now that I have made up my mind, I'll make sure that I am not shaken. I do... enjoy a good challenge." Teru paused a moment, to further enjoy the food brought to her. "I do have a question, though. With those other two gone, what is going to happen? It just doesn't seem right not having a full team. I mean, it would give a better sense of camaraderie." It was a thought of curiosity that she had. Surely Sero had similar thoughts, considering the fact that the rough relationship had two others involved. He would want to have a group of cooperating ninja as his subordinates, she thought. Teru, not because she was intimidated by Sero, did not detest the idea of having teammates. He was going to challenge her limits. What grander way was there than having others to compete against? Not bitter competition, but something that would have them grow closer as allies.

She waited to hear again from Sero and proceeded to eat until there was a need to speak again.

Sero would watch her with a glance for a moment as she ate the food provided to them. His grey eyes looking into her with an empty gaze that betrayed nothing but seemed to see everything. Perhaps it was on purpose no knives had been provided for her. Perhaps Sero simply only used what was needed to keep up appearances. For him regardless of what he ate it was a means to an end. Though the smell was more pleasant it was only as good as a rat roasting over a fire to him. The flavor the same being as there was none. He cared not for what was pretty and looked good. Eating was just a required survival. Something to keep up the bodies strength. Without it he was not at his full potential and he required himself at that height at all times. Still he could smell the difference and could see Teru enjoying it. Almost living vicariously through her for a moment. The spider returned with a couple of glasses and a pitcher of some sort of banana juice. Pouring each of theirs but staring at Teru a moment before slamming her cup down again. It looked like an odd and thick drink for breakfast but Sero knew the vitamins were good for the muscles.

The spider retreated as he took a sip of his drink before setting it down as Teru spoke. Speaking of conviction and challenge. His eyes would narrow in a strange way and for the first time she would see a hint of a smile on his thin lips. She would resume eating as would he in silence for a moment. His fork cutting into the ham into a bite sized piece before pushing some egg onto it and scooping it up. Placing the contents into his mouth and chewing for five seconds before swallowing. He couldn't taste it or feel it but it seemed appropriate for consumption needs. Still she would speak again as he set about cutting the next piece of ham. His fork pausing as his smile faded. Almost like the room filled with a sense of stillness his eyes slowly raising to look at her seemed to be all the movement in the world shifted into one moment. His white hair hanging about him with one strand slipping to hang to the right of his face. He would speak in a calm tone then. His eyes locked onto hers.

"You should know from experience not many would choose to remain under me at your rank. The pressure of it driving many to madness. A squad at this time can not be a goal so easily achieved. When I hold lessons you will be the sole study."

With that said he set down his fork. His plate half finished before he picked up his glass. Holding it up as if her being the sole student during her lessons was a toast before he would tilt it back and drink the contents. Barely a tiny remnant of the contents stuck to the side of the glass. With that finished he would set it down and hover his hand over the glass. The contents filling with a white mist as the banana stain faded to nothing and then the mist faded revealing the clarity of water. Of which he sipped at for hydration purposes. His eyes looking it over a moment before snapping back to her. Staring into her eyes as if seeking out the soul again. Speaking once more in that same cold tone without emotion that marked him for who he was.

"That is not to say there will not be others coming and going from the manor. Servants due to return in time. Each trained to survive here. Others searching for my expertise or experience. Interact with them as you like. Visit whom you will in the village or invite them here. The world is not closed to you but you will reside here until your training is complete. Moving on to the mention of your training. I recall you were a katon user. Have you kept to your studies on the elemental ninjutsu?"

Teru felt a bit awkward when those cold eyes studied her. Was it odd? The way she ate her ham. The spider that acted as a waiter had not given her a proper set of utensils, so she was simply trying to improvise. He too had used his fork as a knife, so it was unlikely that he was judging her based off of that. On another note, it would be unlike him. But, nonetheless, Teru wanted to shrink away every time he glanced her way. The feeling got worse when the spider returned. She felt all of its eyes glaring at her as it poured a strange looking liquid into the glasses. And, just as it did to her plate, the glass was roughly set down next to her. Some of the contents escaped from the glass, but only a few drops. The scent of the drink entered her nostrils. At first, she thought that it would detest it, but her expression showed a little interest in it. It smelled of bananas, but there was a hint of something else.

Whatever it really was, Teru did not let it go to waste. She first sipped it for a taste, and she found it to be more delicious than expected. It was fruity, but there was a peculiar taste that she could no explain. The squishy chunks in the drink  flowed into her mouth and down her throat. In the back of her mind, she hoped that those chunks were just sliced bananas. She was glad to know that she was not the only one drinking the suspicious substance. It was good, for the most part. She was still alive after placing the glass back on the table.

The hint of a smile came quick and disappeared in the blink of an eye. Teru noticed it on Sero's face as a response to what she had spoken moments ago. "You should know from experience not many would choose to remain under me at your rank. The pressure of it driving many to madness. A squad at this time can not be a goal so easily achieved. When I hold lessons you will be the sole study." She heard him say this, and slowly nodded in understanding. She was still a Genin, but that would not be so for very much longer. That first exercise she had with Sero as the supervisor was proof that a poor number of ninja would want to have that sort of fate. But, he did say that a team formation would not be easy. That did not mean that it would be impossible. But, Teru accepted this. She was to be the main point of focus, and that meant she had to be an impressive subject. There was nothing she could really say to this, however. Just a nod.

Teru's plate was just about finished now. Only a few bites remained. It was a meal she was most thankful for. Have you kept to your studies on the elemental ninjutsu?" That was good to hear, in her opinion. She was not going to be the only person there. So far, she believed him to be exhibiting a generous amount of fairness. He touched on her training, and Teru shared eye contact with Sero. He was spot on about her being a katon user. She specialized in it and enjoyed learning as much as she could with fire.

Again, Teru nodded and half smiled. To all of what he said to her, she replied, "I can deal with this. And, yes, I have done some work with learning more about ninjutsu. I'm not limited to katon, though. Doton is among the skills I possess, but I'm still lacking. All this time, I've been tutoring myself."

Sero would continue to sip at his water and slowly returned to his meal. Watching Teru consume her food like she was ravenous. Not that she was lacking in manners but her pace was ever so slightly above the norm. If he had to guess she hadn't eaten a great deal during her time simply surviving out on the island. It wasn't a friendly place and not much grew out there. The spiders thrived simply because of the amount of insects and wild things wandering about good for consumption. Of course Sero had purchased some herds in the passed and released them onto the island. The intent was to allow them to breed and the food storage to expand but not everything on this island was obedient. Within a week of having a herd each time regardless of the animal purchased it was consumed. Stolen in the night or wandered too far into the forest. The island was about survival and no common stock of animal could survive it. Many of mankind's average couldn't either. Bandits and pirates who did not know not to wander here or thought they could topple the beast in numbers or in his sleep. Few ever made it as far as the manor these days. Not since he wiped out the last death squad. Trained as they were with their senbon launchers and night vision they had been of minor amusement for him. Teru had survived it however which put her a step above the rest.

Sero would eat until his plate was clean as she spoke. Remaining silent for the time being as he would again scoop eggs onto meat and take a bite. Considering what she had said. He had no skill of Doton and the best he could do in that regard was provide the village scrolls of common doton Ninjutsu. He could not actively teach them to her but with the scrolls available she might find learning them easier. Perhaps someone with the doton element would arrive as either and instructor or study buddy in due time. For now she would have to keep her studies with him based on the Katon nature. It was the only thing he had in common with her. That and being feared since birth for what you were. An Uchiha could likely understand his pain more than most. Still he drank his water before he would speak once more. His voice calm for the moment.

"Doton will have to continue to be a solo study for the time being. The library here has reading material on it but it is not one of the Osada natures. Katon however is and I have a great deal you could learn. Go and compile a written list of what Katon Ninjutsu you know and We shall practice the ones you do not in the courtyard out behind the manor. I wish to empower you before your next test. You will have need of it."

With that Said Sero would rise from his seat. Turning from the table before shifting in a near glide across the floor opposite the way he had entered. Moving out of the room through a set of double doors. His grey eyes keeping directly ahead of him as he shifted down a long hall with dark wood floors. He hadn't bothered to move into this part of the manor in some time. Dust shifted like waves away from him as he moved as if fleeing him. He passed the serving spider in the hall as its eyes followed him. Watching Sero leave until Sero was out of eye sight. With speed it skittered back the way Sero had come and through the double doors. It sped across the floor and with almost violent motions took away Teru's remaining food and drink with a hissing sound. It had strong opinions of Teru for having abandoned the father of the brood. For having left him. Still it dared not attack her. Instead it took away everything left on the table and sped off out of the room with it. Keeping simple comforts from Teru. Still it would leave little left in the dining room for Teru. However if she were to look around she might notice on one of the upper terraces a pale little boy. Almost white as flour. If she looked closely the little boy would resemble Sero considerably. It would look at her and laugh playfully before suddenly it faded away to nothing. Gone like a spirit haunting her.

Sero however had moved towards the back end of the manor and would stop before a dark door. One of the things that his father had left behind was a library. Sero had spent much of his time within it learning for himself how to read and eventually how to practice Ninjutsu. He had never attended the academy aside from the day he showed up for the graduation exams. He had nearly given the instructor a heart attack and when he wrote down his name it had caused a small stir that was quickly classified. He passed of course. For now his pale hand lifted and pushed open the door with a creak. As he stepped in lights flickered to life. Dust coated a great deal of the room. For the moment he cared little of it. His attention instead drawn to some old scrolls in a pile next to a desk. He had spent many hours there. Days even in his youth and seclusion. With out more delay he moved over and scooped up several Katon scrolls. Moving with the arm full out of the room. Moving once more down through the halls out the back door. The air was still for the moment now. The storm had passed and for now he moved towards the back fountains. A flat ground with a circle of different colors. At times a single spout of water would shoot up here or there and then randomly it would shift into a pattern of water firing up before falling down again. He would stop next to a table nearby with some chairs and hold his hand over it. Heat would emanate from his palm and steam would rise from the white metal. Gradually going dry. Once the water was dry he set the scrolls down and settled into a chair. Waiting for her there.

Teru sat in silence and bit into the last of the ham that was on her plate. There was a small portion of eggs left, but she took the smallest of bites into those. It was now Sero's turn to speak, and she willfully waited to listen to his words of great importance. You will have need of it." Teru steadied her gaze on the man. So, it was not he who would be the one to help her enhance her skills in Doton. That was fine, for he had a passing reason. She nodded in understanding and considered visiting the library he mentioned. What a useful source of knowledge to have in one's home. It was going to be a valuable resource for the Uchiha and her training.

The idea of studying about Doton on her own was nothing surprising. Before having arrived at the manor, Teru already immersed herself in the studies. She learned new jutsu revolving around the earthly element. So, she accepted that. Regarding her training in the mastery of the flames, it was a bit awe-inspiring. He, the skillful Osada, was going to train her personally. It was going to be difficult, but certainly a fast track for her development. Teru could not wait for the training to begin. This list she would put together was her top priority, but it would be done and she would have it to Sero shortly after its completion. Hopefully, she would be more than prepared for this test. By the sound of it, it was presumably safe to say that it would be the greatest challenge of her lifetime.  "Very well, I shall get everything in order before our next meeting," Teru said before Sero departed from the dining hall. "But, I do have some business to take care of in the village. I'll return shortly after with all that you asked for."

For the moment, she was alone. It was quiet and she had a brief few minutes to think about all that was to come next. A lot is going to happen. I wonder if I'll make it through.... Yeah, I will be just fine. Yeah! This will be a piece of cake. Teru grinned, feeling the fire within her heart burn radiantly. This was going to be a daring road, but she was prepared for it. "Huh?" As Teru was in the middle of standing up from the chair, the doors opened and in came the same spider from before. Well, she thought that it was the same one. It looked like it. The spider collected the dishes left from Sero, and the dishes of hers. She let it pass, this time unafraid. There was a small hope for the spider to accept her. Clearly, it did not, but she was wanting for that to change one day.

The spider left in a hurry, leaving Teru to stand by the table alone. She thought that she was alone now, but a prompting nagging at her had the teen scanning the hall. Something else was there. Its eyes watched her as she unknowingly looked around. There! On the upper floor. She locked her eyes on the figure, witnessing its ghostly appearance. It was not a ghost, however, but a boy younger than herself. The hair, and everything else about the boy was all too familiar. A much younger version of Sero Osada. But, how could that be? Her sensei never mentioned having a brother, nor a son. What strange phenomenon brought about this mysterious visit? This little boy laughed in a way that made her want to smile, but she could only manage the upward curve of the left corner of her lips. He was gone shortly after, tempting her to give chase. If he had gone in a clear direction, she would have, but he disappeared like ghosts did in spooky stories.

"Who was that?" Teru wondered for a moment, staring at the place where the boy once stood. Or, rather, what was that? Shaking her head, Teru realized that she was wasting precious time. She had to see someone back at the village for a very important opportunity. It would not take her long, she believed. If she was late, then she would just have to give Sero her reasons. Maybe he would even be proud when she returned. So, out of the manor Teru went, passing by any of the spiders that lingered in the halls. While it was dangerous to go out alone, Teru felt none of the sensations of fear. She knew her way to and from, so she worried not.
