Clad in his favourite blue and white kimono, the neatly dressed figure of Izayoi walked down the streets of Konohagakure, his long, black hair, tied back neatly in its usual ponytail. The pale grey of his eyes scanned the streets as he walked, the light of the sky emphasising and exaggerating the sickly lightness of his skin. His wooden footwear clacked against the cobbled road, winter air crisp against his body. Perhaps it would have been wise to dress more weather appropriately, however, to Izayoi, he had appearances to uphold. To this degree, he wore his Konohagakure forehead protector on his head, in the traditional position, as he walked to his destination – the main gate.

Sighing softly, he arrived in fairly quick time, the nearly cloudless sky providing ample sunlight to keep his displeasure at bay – or at least, his persona’s displeasure. Still, today, Izayoi had a mission that he was assigned and as such, had to perform for. Thus, he was perfectly dressed as always – perfectly organised. His mission was to guard the gates, and assist those exiting and entering the village, filling out forms, and having a nice and happy smile throughout the day. Something Izayoi prided himself as being good at. Still, being early, he decided to spend a bit of time just making sure he looked well, and that his vision was in top form. Focusing chakra into his eyes, he looked around. A few birds sat in the trees, but, more importantly to Izayoi, a few mice were skittering around by the nearby food stalls, likely having made residence there a while ago and feeding on leftovers and such. He shook his head, setting himself down on a nearby bench and letting the focus on his byakkugan fade. It was only a matter of time until the mission were to start, and Izayoi found himself wondering what his partner for this mission would be like.

Would they be like himself, happy? Or, like himself, angry and cruel? Would they be akin to the Nara he knew, who was fairly… Absent in conversation, or perhaps like the Inuzuka who couldn’t stop jumping back and forth with energy? The different potential pawns in the world was truly fascinating for Izayoi, and he couldn’t wait to find out who exactly would he get to meet on this day, perhaps influencing in a way or another, although he would not mind if it was just a simple mission as always.

After another half hour of waiting, he sighed, shaking his head. It was apparent that, whoever it was, they were not going to show up. Adjusting the position of his forehead protector, the Hyuga began walking to his post properly. He was already somewhat late, and the fact of the matter was, he was disappointed. After a brief walk, he was at the part of the gate he was meant to watch, and took his place behind the outdoors desk, in the shack that was made for the guard and watch to look over. With a light exhalation, he took his seat, twirling the quill that lay on the desk in his fingers for a moment before setting it in the pot of ink. He didn’t care to stay alert, as even Izayoi knew that they wouldn’t set a genin on a dangerous task. Only a fool would deem it appropriate to do so in his mind, for even the weakest genin is still a body that could be honed, refined, and made a weapon, or a shield – whichever is needed at the time.

Shortly, a caravan arrived, with a total of seven merchants, and five wagons. Quite a large supply chain, perhaps a group intending on setting up business in the leaf village? Regardless, it was his job to simply make sure the precautions were taken, which were explained in the mission debriefing he was sent in the post. As the foremost merchant approached, Izayoi leant on the desk, staring with the blank grey of his eyes. They stated their intents, to provide resources from the land of tea to a couple of ramen shops. A fair enough trade. Still, ever expecting manipulation like his own, Izayoi scanned the documents the man offered with a fine comb. Any slight discrepancy, any mistake, even a signature that didn’t fully complete the space that it was intended, or didn’t show near exact replications. He didn’t care for if there were a fraud, but, if there was, or any form of danger, he could use it as black mail material against the merchant. Still, nothing seemed off, and a quick activation of his byakkugan confirmed this. He sighed, taking the quill in hand, and quickly signed off the document with a tick. “You’re approved for entry. Don’t cause trouble.

The merchant nodded, returning to the wagon led caravan, and the group heading inside the village proper. How boring… He set the quill back in its ink, before waiting and simply allowing the time to pass. Nothing occurred during the rest of the mission, ever since the war where Konoha aided Kiri, most visitors to the village could be found entirely as a part of the alliance between the leaf and the mist. All political babble in his mind. Still, he had heard that Kiri was recruiting Konoha ninja for their specialists, and the other way around… Perfect. While not one to give a damn whether the village of leaves had enemies or allies, Izayoi was certainly fond of the idea of this alliance. The open borders… Would perhaps allow him to conveniently convince those of the mist to take him, and train him, in the arts of the hunter nin. After all, why would they decline a chance to have a sensory and disabling shinobi type like a Hyuga among their most brutal and heartless sectorial? Sighing, he got up from the desk, walking off. It was time for the evening to begin drawing in, the day at its close. Izayoi was disappointed, so, there was no harm in getting some training done before bed.
