So, this was it. He had invited his mate Trilby over to the Sand domain. He had told him to meet him here for a spar, he wanted to see how strong his friend was. He didn't expect to lose, given the difference in ranks would effect the outcome of the match, but he wanted the guy to at least put a scratch on him. It wasn't smart to pick weak friends, or at least that's how Shibirin viewed things. He wanted to test how strong Trilby was, and surely Trilby will get a chance to see just what Shibirin is capable of. It'd be up to the individual to judge how strong the other is.

Trilby trudged on through the loose sand of the area, glaring at the sandstorm off in the distance. Of all the places for his friend to invite him to, why this hellhole? The city had a perfectly good arena. "I'm under the impression that you want to kick my ass." stated Trilby bluntly, approaching his comrade. He had left his iconic Trilby at home, as the winds in this section were far too harsh to be wearing a hat with such a wide brim. Combat had never been Trilby's strong point, he was too focus on reading and too little on training. Though he was physically quite powerful from his days mining iron, he had no technique to back it up, and he knew all too well, muscle without skill is useless.

Shibirin heard a couple of foot steps heading towards his way. When they had stopped, he heard a farmiliar voice say, "I'm under the impression that you want to kick my ass.". It sounded like his newly made friend Trilby, who he had met a couple of days ago in the arena. He had invited him here to merely test him, not so much hurt him. he justified this by replying to him, "Hello again, old pal. I invited you here to test how strong you are. Wouldn't want my life one day, to have to depend on the skills of a weakling, if you know what i mean," he said towards the guy as he approached.

Shibirin took this chance to rise to his feet, as a battle was begining to build up. He had little doubts that Trilby would deny this battle, but if he did, Shibirin wouldn't mind. Not many people are comfrotable fighting their friends, as they tend to get soft on them, but Shibirin was prepared to fight anyone, if the fight helped him get stronger.

"Well I'm afraid I might fit your definition of a weakling for a while longer yet, my friend. I've only recently become a genin." Trilby stepped back a few paces and dropped down onto his knee, fixing the lacing on his combat boots.

"Still, if it's a fight you want, I'll oblige. he said, sounding confident, though he knew it was going to go in his opponents favour. He was of a higher rank, had better equipment, more experience and more techniques under his belt. Still, Trilby had no plans of giving up without a fight. "On your mark, sir."

Shibirin admired the guy's confidence. The way he allowed himself to fight a battle he might even lose. That was the kind of courage Shibirin had always wanted in a partner. This fight already, had an ending. Shibirin nolonger wanted to fight the guy just to see how strong he is, for he knew that didn't matter, the guy will get stronger eventually. Now Shibirin wanted to fight him, to see how he manuvered himself in combat situations, so he moved a few paces back and let his left hand rest on the handles of his 3, sheathed katana, by his left hip.

"Go," was Shibirin's only response. He wanted the ninja to make the first move, but he knew that if the guy instead that he went first, he would make the guy regret giving him the first go.

"Go" Trilby waited a few seconds, yet his opponent did nothing. "So he wants me to go first. Bastard. I never did like going first." Trilby thought to himself, as he began to form a few basic handseals. Dog, boar, bird. "Doton: Doryuusou no Jutsu" Trilby sent a row of thin, sharp stone spikes flying out of the ground in front of him in a row towards shibirin. He knew this wouldn't effect his opponent in the least bit, but he needed some form of weapon. Reaching down, he snapped one of the spikes off at the base, forming a makeshift spear of sorts.

"I'm broke. No weapons, not even a kunai. Still, I make do" Trilby said, casually taking a few steps back and holding the shaft of stone like a kunai. He knew he couldn't match his opponent in close quarters combat but he still needed a defense against it, as shoddy as it was.

Shibirin's eye brow rose, 'Ok, he uses Doton like me?' he thought to himself, as he could've now thought of a whole lot of ways he could defend himself from the spears.

Normally, he'd just move to the side and spare his chakra, but he was a Chunin now, and chakra usage wasn't a big problem for him. He positioned himself in a firm and stable stance, this way he wouldn't be thrown off his balance so easily. He then took hold of his Genko blade's sheath with one hand and his Sai blade's sheath with the other hand, not drawing the blades but using their sheaths instead. He then began to spin the two blades at the same time, crossing them over the front of his body three times.

The spikes continued to soar straight towards him, but when they reached the spinning sheaths, they shattered and crumbled to the ground. Shibirin stopped spinning the blades and said, "Not bad, any more tricks to share?" as he now placed both sheathed blades by his left hip, with his other blade, Noro.

"Suicidal stupidity aside, no. " Trilby muttered, so silently he would be surprised if Shibirin heard him. A small, white rung of chain bled out of the palm of trilby's hand, which he poked the end of the spear through, angling his hand so that it wouldn't be revealed to his opponent. "This is never going to work" Trilby thought, charging at his opponent.

He ran directly at his enemy, until he was but two meters away. there, he threw the spear slightly to the left of his opponent's head, it dragging the chakra chain connected to his hand along with it. As it flew, Trilby began to run to his opponents right. Hopefully, if his enemy wasn't aware of the chains strange properties, Trilby reasoned, he would dodge the spear and Trilby would gain a decent positioning.

Shibirin saw the guy's lips move a bit, but couldn't make out what he had said. Nevertheless, he wasn't concerned in the guy's words at the moment, more on his actions and he could see that the guy was trying some sort of long range jutsu. From what Shibirin knew about long range jutsu, they tend to aim at making the target do something. Either they force the target back, or they give the user enough time to escape. He didn't think that Trilby was the guy to escape, so he made off as if he was trying to force Shibirin back, but one must learn never to dodge a incoming attack in the most obvious way.

Shibirin completed the boar and ox hand signs, before muttering the words, "Earth style: Earth Changing terrain", and within seconds, a 2.5 meters tall pillar emerged from underneath Shibirin's feet and lifted him up 2.5 meters off the ground. The incoming chakra chains that had been initially aimed to maybe attack Shibirin directly, would now be left with only the pillar to target, though breaking it would be nearly impossible for the genin, as it was 50 centimeters thick. Shibirin would continue to use ninjutsu, so long as the guy used ninjutsu. He'll use close combat, when the guy uses close combat.

"He certainly likes making things difficult on me." Trilby thought to himself as he yanked on the chain, loosing the spike from the sand it had fallen into after hitting the pillar. The spikes that Shibirin hadn't shattered were still there, and they were trilby's only real option. Snapping off several more, he connected them to the chain, one per rung, until he had roughly ten spears in a row hanging off the end of the chain. Stepping back, he began to swing the now spike laiden chain, still connected to his hand, around above his head, building up enough momentum to perform a more meaningful attack.

"This is the problem with being an amateur, very few options!" He shouted out to Shibirin, still spinning the chain.

Shibirin forced out a smirk. The guy was truly an amateur, but a clever one indeed. Most 'amateurs' would've given up right about now, but though he was also handicaped, he kept coming up with new ways to attack Shibirin, though he was able to avoid all of them with very little effort. He truly admired the guy, it'd be unfair for him to jump down and use his swords on him, so he decided to stay on his pillar and let the other guy do the attacking

Trilby's chakra chain was now building up quite a mass of air pressure. The spikes were disrupting the currents, and the force of the spin was creating a miniature dust storm. Trilby could barely see through the spew of disturbed sand and dust. Now was the best time he'd ever get to strike. The chain snapped off from his hand as he released it, spinning rapidly towards shibirin. The spikes would hopefully connect, but even the chain itself wrapping around him wound be useful.

Unable to see what happened, Trilby ran towards the pillar, grabbing one of the spikes out of the ground and charging forward. If the chains had wrapped around shibirin, it's jutsu blocking ability would probably surprise him long enough for him to land a decent blow.

Shibirin was witnessing some form of a miniature sand storm, building up around his opponent. He didn't think it was a natural sandstorm, so it was natural for him to feel suspecious about what his antagonist was plotting.

His precautions had been confirmed, as he saw now the chain with spikes on the end, that the ninja had been twirling above his head for quite some time, now shooting direcly towards him. Shibirin's smirk dropped, before he lowered the piller down back under the ground and was left standing where he had been standing before he lifted himself up. By the speed he had canceled the jutsu, the spikes would just attack the layer of air he had once been standing around, whilst he was safe back down.

He then noted Trilby runnign after him with a spear in one hand. He drew out one of his blades, his Genko blade and held it with a regulargrip style in his right hand. He let it rest on his right shoulder, as he waited for the guy to come closer and closer, towards him.

Guest
Trilby emerged from the duststorm to see the worst case scenario, his opponent fine, the mess of spikes on the ground a few meters behind him, the chakra chain dissolved. He had his sword drawn and was resting it on his right shoulder. "BALLS!" Trilby declared upon seeing this sight, leaping towards the opponent's left, staying well clear of the katana. He threw his spear as he leapt, and grabbed at the dirt, bunching it in his left hand as he stepped back. He was out of options.

Guest

Guest
Shibirin could see that the guy had just about had enough. He was all out of options by the look of thigns. Shibirin, if this were a real fight, would've advanced on towards him and made an attempt to kill the guy, though he had to take in considerate that the guy had not much jutsu at his disposal, nor did he have much weaponry and arsenal to work with.

Shibirin brought his sword up and made a downward, diagonal slash at the spear and sliced it apart with little effort as it colided with his katana. He then brought his sword back up to his right shoulder and allowed it to rest on his shoulder, as he now stood tall, starring down at his opponent. "Out of options i see?" he asked the guy, before crouching down on the spot.

Guest
Trilby focused his chakra, trying to force out another chain, but it had been too soon since he created the last one. He couldn't do it. Without his chains he stood no chance in physical combat, and his current arsenal of ranged techniques was incredibly limited too. The only other technique up his sleeve wouldn't work as he didn't have the time to set it up. "It seems so..." he said quietly, stepping backwards. He needed time. Time he doubted his opponent would give him.

Shibirin liked the idea of a fair match, he hated fighting a battle where the odds were stacked against one person more than the other. He couldn't think of any way to make this any more fair. He could hand the guy one of his swords, but he was a skilled ninja at using swords, it'd still be a disadvantage. He could pledge to the other guy that he won't use any of his swords, but that'd leave him with only one jutsu to use before he has to wait for a couple of minutes to re-use it.

He decided to let his opponent decide how to make this a bit more fai. "Ok, what should we do to make this a fair match?" he asked, not making any attempts at attacking the guy or anything.

Guest

Guest
Trilby smiled to himself slightly, this was exactly what he needed. "Close quarters combat seems to be your speciality, but that earth jutsu of yours throws a wrench into anything I can do. I have no talent in Taijutsu but it seems to me that's my only option to fair half a chance. What say you, unarmed combat?" Trilby knew, if his opponent agreed to this, he had a chance at pinning him, and winning the match decisively. His fatigue was almost gone, it was the only chance he'd get.

Guest

Guest
Unarmed combat? It went agaisnt all of Shibirin's main abilities, but if it made the match more fair, he was more than willing to oblige.

He sheathed his Genko blade back in its sheath, before taking all 3 sheathed blades off of his left hip and he threw them a couple of meters away from him. "Very well," he said to the guy, as he now relaxed his hips a bit, as if to point out that the swords had been heavy on him

Trilby grinned and swept his left foot rapidly across the sand infront of him, raising a plume that blocked shibirin's vision. Using his temporary haze, he made a bunshin of himself, and snunk into the earth underneath it using his double suicide decapitation technique. The clone extendedly it's arm out towards Shibirin. "Come, time for you to attack. he said confident, raising his arms in a combat stance.

Shibirin saw a thick, coat of dust appear between he and his opponent: true he was temporarily blinded from sight of where his target was, but he need not have a clear view of his location in order to attack him. He managed to take a few steps back, away from the cloud of dust. He then took an extra leap backwards, before threading a few hand signs on the spot. He started with the Sheep, then the boar, followed by the dragon and then finished the sequence with the serpent hand sign, before slamming both hands on the ground in front of him, thus activating the deadly jutsu.

A strong, lightning surge made its way outward from Shibirin's hands, in a riplle pattern around the lad. The lightning waves pushed outwards, covering a radius of 10 meters around the user. If caught in the jutsu, the victim, for the first post, should feel a strong lightning shock that won't do much than alarm the target, but given that Shibirin was a rank higher than the genin, the effects would automatically change. Since the lad was a genin, the electric shock will zap the guy with so much electricity that it will cause his skin to burn a bit, causing survier wounds and a few scars or two. The poor genin should also get paralyzed for one post, but Shibirin couldn't see the guy directly, so he'll have to listen for his screams to know if the Jutsu had got him or not.

"SON OF A BITCH!" trilby cried out, his clone exploding above him as he slowly tried to claw his way out of the ground, barely able to move. "How in gods name is THAT Taijutsu?!" he shouted angrily at shibirin, swearing loudly as the sand got into the bursting heat blisters on his arms. He only managed to get halfway out before his body gave up on him, and he hung in the sand, still groaning at the feeling of the sand in his wounds.

Shibirin canceled the jutsu as soon as he saw the supposebly 'fake' Trilby explode. "So, that was only a clone, ey?" Shibirin began. He truly had no idea that he had summoned a clone, he didn't think the guy coud do such ninjutsu and so well hidden that even Shibirin, though he'd seen the jutsu before, didn't notice a thing.

He then looked down to the half-uneartherd Trilby, as the sand cleared away. He crouched down in his spot and said, "Taijutsu, when did i ever say i would use Taijutsu?" he said to the guy, his voice sounded more calmer than ever, a smirk fixed on his face. "I agreed to fight without my swords, but never said i am just using Taijutsu"

"Ninjutsu is as much a weapon as your swords are. Unarmed combat is taijutsu by definition." He managed to force out, still groaning and struggling against his situation. Shibirin was crouched down above him. One of trilby's arms was still underground, and using it, he generated a chakra chain, commanding it to slider through the earth and wrap itself around shibirin's leg. Trilby went to swing at his kidneys with his free arm, but was stopped in his tracks by his body betraying him. He began to cough up blood, and hunched over as the sand around him slowly loosened, and his chain crumbled once more. Kicking at it with his feet, he pulled himself up onto the surface before collapsing entirely, struggling to breathe.

Shibirin's left eye brow shot up as he felt something grab his leg. His reflexes told him to jump, but it was no use, it was as if his weight paled in comparison to Trilby's. He couldn't jump out of the way, but there was one other thing he could do.

Shibirin completed the boar and ox hand signs, before muttering the words, "Earth style: Earth Changing terrain", but nothing happened. Damn chains, they must have the effect to cancel out any chakra usage or something, or was it a mental thing? He couldn't cut the chain off, his swords were far away. Trilby had Shibirin right where he wanted him, but with the burns and wounds Shibirin gave the guy earlier with his lightning jutsu, he was weaker than he. Shibirin began to kick Trilby's head, hoping the pain would be too much for him to take and he'd let go.

Within seconds, the chain had crumbled to pieces. The guy must have reached his limits, as a genin at least. Shibirin didn't take this as a victory, like he should. He took it as a learning experience. He now knew what skills he had to build up, if there ever came a situation where he was weaponless. He fell backwards and sat on the ground, using his arms for support, and he looked out towards Trilby.
