84The sound of the waterfall was still audible behind the raven-haired walking down the corridor, echoing through the swinging door that led to the Stone Monument of the Tsuchikage. Her Tsuchikage’s words still rang in her head about the importance of each ninja to the strength of the village, and she grappled with not discarding his humility as idealism. The humble words were a response to the gruff question posed by one Mahikari, the same man moving down the corridor just a few feet ahead of her.
The dark, rusted colour of his cape flowed hypnotically in his wake, and Cinderella found it curious that a man who claimed to blend in mysteriously with the shadows stood out like a sore thumb against the light brown concrete of the Tsuchikage’s tower. His footsteps fell in step with hers, each grunt of the ground against his boots resounding with the clack of her heels. His question intrigued her; not many Genin, much less strangers, would out themselves as potential threats to simply carry forth a point.
At this point, either one of them could strike up much unneeded banter, maybe to discuss about their sensei-to-be, the newly inducted Tsuchikage. Should Mahikari not first speak up, either due to exhaustion as she saw in his frame upon his exit, or simple lack of chivalry, Cinderella would quicken her paces, placing her right hand on his left shoulder to nab his attention as she strode next to him.
“So,” she would begin, eyeing him with her one visible eye, unshrouded by her hair, “What do you think of our sensei? These questions seem customary.”
