This wasn't the first time Takashi had to leave Konoha's borders. He had been in the Dense Forest once with his friend, they got attacked by bandits there. And Takashi has also gone on an escort mission. They went through a territory inhabited by wolves, but they didn't get attacked. So statistically there was a 50% chance that Takashi could get attacked by anyone who upon seeing the boy in his festive robe and empty hands thought "Ooh, he sure is carrying a lot of wealth!"
Takashi's travel didn't take too long. He didn't bother to visit Kusagakure or Takigakure in his way. The young hastily made his way through treetops in hopes that nothing went wrong at least on his way to Iwagakure.
The document he had to deliver was safely tucked in a pocket in his robe. What he was told, was to simply deliver this document to Iwagakure's dungeon. Show it to no one else. Takashi wasn't told that the document was a fake. And neither was he briefed what those guys in the prison had done. War prisoners? No, war has ended long ago. Spies? Those are signs of cold war, probably not. What if those two were not shinobi in the first place? Just some hooligans who thought it would be cool to show Iwagakure's citizens how Konoha people behave? Drug smugglers also were a thing. Takashi had caught one just the other day. However the latter two were cases that deserved punishment and should not be taken back. Maybe they were just to be extracted to Konoha's prison. Though Takashi wasn't told that. He wasn't even told to escort the prisoners back to Konoha. He hated to be kept in dark.
The entry in Iwagakure wasn't very strict. Takashi was recognized by his forehead protector. The only questions he was asked were "State your business," and "How long do you plan to stay here?". Takashi didn't lie, obviously. The genin wasn't brave enough to lie to The Great Nation just yet. The guard bid him farewell and Takashi entered the capital. If he wasn't blind, he would probably first stop to admire the different scenery. Nothing really reminded here of Konoha. The buildings were all from rock (he could still feel it by touch, but he couldn't see how cold the village looked compared to Konoha), the village was covered with mountains and abrupt hills. More impressive was the huge wall around the village, but nothing of this was captured by Takashi's sight. He didn't even ask around what everything looked like. He did ask for directions to reach the dungeon. Takashi's pace were much slower here than in Konoha. We was afraid to look dumb by running into a building. Even worse - there could be pits and holes in the streets. He didn't wish to fall into one, so better take it slow.
It was dark by the time Takashi reached the dungeon. Fortunately, it didn't affect his senses, he just felt colder than before. Perhaps the night would be of great help in case they needed to escape. In complete darkness Takashi probably had the upperhand, since he was used to life like that. As Takashi proceeded into the Dungeon, a guard stopped him:"Hey kid, I think you've taken the wrong turn!"
"In fact no. I'm here on Konohagakure's officials behalf. I'm here to take care of two prisoners. Will you be of any help to me?" Takashi explained his situation and hoped that this guard will show the way to the prisoners.
"Oh, excuse me. You look quite.. pompous for a leaf ninja," an awkward pause followed after the guard had made a remark about Takashi's apperance, "sure, I can show you the way. Do you have the paperwork ready?"
Takashi then put his hand inside his robe. The guard tightened his grip on the spear expecting Takashi to take out a weapon or bomb. But the boy had no tricks on his mind, he handed the papers to the guard and waited for him to take a look at those.
"Seems like everything is in order. Follow me," the guard invited Takashi inside the dungeon. It got colder inside. Takashi could follow the guard's footsteps easily since they walked on concrete floor. He also heard a weapons butt hitting the ground. Guard probably used it like some kind of cane. The great mix of sounds of others (impossible to tell if prisoners or staff of the dungeon) talking didn't confuse Takashi.
"Those two," the guard said and probably pointed or stared at some cell. Sometimes not-so-obvious-blindness was a burden. "Hey!" called one of the prisoners. This really helped Takashi to locate his objective. "I will open the cell, then you are free to go," the guard said without making any kind of insults of freeing criminals. He was just doing his job, without forming emotional bonds or overthinking the situation. Some could learn from this guard.
When the two men were out of their cells, they wanted to return to Konoha without further delay. They had their reasons:"They barely fed us here,"; "We were beaten,"; "It's really cold when you have to sleep on that concrete floor,"; "I'm sure, I've caught some kind of sickness,"
Maybe the guards didn't do all that good job around here. Or maybe those two were only exaggerating. Whichever, Takashi also wanted to get out of here.
So far this mission seemed pretty easy. Not really hard effort put into anything. But the luck now has run out and it turned into a real C rank mission. "Stop right there!" a voice exclaimed just before the exit. "Oh shit, it's the warden. We haven't got anything to do with this, so don't count on us," whispered one of the Konoha's criminals.
"I haven't signed this," warden was apparently holding the documents since Takashi could hear paper crinkling in the speaker's hands. "Put them back in their cell. All three of 'em." This was bad news. Takashi hadn't realized there were any guards, but now he heard footsteps from two guards. Possibly more standing and watching. Those guards certainly had some weapons for they were advancing very slowly.
Going into a cell was not an option. Taking their chances was an option. Takashi's hands quickly flashed into two signs - dog and rat. "Hey!" Takashi shouted wanting attention from the warden. And of course warden started to feel bad. He collapsed on his knees first and then started gagging. "Hey, chief, you alright?" the guards started to get dubious and turned back to help the warden up. They had some enormous respect and dumbness if they turned their back to criminals. And not just some criminals, but Konoha's shinobi. Takashi charged one of the guards and pushed him on the ground. During these two seconds two important things happened - the two helpless men ran past the four people almost blocking the exit, and Takashi managed to cast a simple trickery he learned in the academy - transformation technique. As he fell on the ground, he took the appearance of a guard. As soon as he could get up he followed the two guys running off and shouted - "Take care of the third, I will catch those two!" and then easily jumped on the buildings of Iwagakure using his Nekomata abilities. Hopefully this didn't give his disguise away immediately.
The three dungeon's workers had to be confused after this. Who knows, maybe they even locked up the guard lying on ground? But surely he was left out after a while when no one had returned. Or maybe not. Who really cared? Not the Leaf Shinobi, for sure.
But precautions had to be taken, of course. Takashi did catch up with the two freshly released prisoners. It was easy, they were no skilled shinobi. They left their trace of prison in the air where they went. Takashi didn't even have to hear them to pinpoint their location. He was still disguised as a guard and the two completely freaked out:"It was not our plan! He told us to run! We will go back voluntarily. Just don't hurt us no more!"
"Oh sorry," Takashi now remembered to transform back to his usual self - festive wearing, smiling Takashi. He put on a happy face and started interrogation of his own:"So tell me, what were you in for?"
Now the two criminals were really confused. What if this was a guard that used transformation technique to confront them and make them plead guilty? None of them answered Takashi's question, so Takashi continued with something more important first:"Actually, first lets go somewhere safe. Do you have any ideas? Please take me there, as you could notice my sight isn't very developed."
None of the guards were blind and upon closer look the two guys could erase their doubts, "Umm sure. Let's go hide at waterfall point. Even if they send out search patrols, we can hide underwater." For those two desperate men it sounded like a good idea, but Takashi would rather get in another fight this evening than get his robe wet. And it wasn't just robe that would get wet, of course. He would also ruin the contents of what he had stashed in his pockets. But the two men weren't completely dumb either, they each grabbed Takashi by one of his hands and dragged him to the waterfall point.
"Yeah, they're searching for us," one of the men pointed out. The other added after a while:"We can see the lights of torches they're carrying. Can you see some lights?" Takashi only shook his head for answer. Maybe they really felt safe in this place. The sound of waterfall constantly hitting more water was somewhat relaxing. The rescued men got more talkative and forthcoming due to their safe location:"We took.. okay we stole some of their military supplies. It was hella dumb and we ended up locked up in no time. Good thing you came to our rescue."  If the young genin weren't blind, he could see the sincere expressions on the men faces. They truly regretted their actions and were very thankful that they were granted a second chance. Their time in prison probably taught them a lesson and showed what would come of them if they had spent more time in that dreadful place.
There was a topic that they felt ashamed of discussing. But it had to be done anyway:"Sooo, about our escape. I think it would be best made during the night." Takashi was obviously listening but he didn't answer anything. His mission here was done. He didn't have to babysit those two. "We are no shinobi, as you can guess." another shameful pause, where the men struggled for words, "So can you help us escape Iwagakure?" they both begged at the same time, "Please!"
If they had come this far, it would be just mean to not help this miserable bunch. "Sure," Takashi said, he already had a plan in mind, "Which one of you is heavier?"
This question came as a surprise. Would Takashi allow only the lighter one to escape? Or the other way around? There was no answer for far too long, till one of them stood up and announced:"That would be me, why?" Takashi now squatted and asked the heavier one to get on and hold tight. Yes, Takashi intended to jump over the wall. Maybe it was impenetrable, but a Nekomata had no problem to make it to the top. Takashi jumped with fierce power that his passenger freaked out. But in no time they both were on the other side of the wall. And in the next second Takashi jumped back to get his lighter friend.
"Now you two, make your way back to Konoha. Report that mission is done and don't cause any more trouble. Ever!" They didn't know how to express their gratitude, just a simple "thanks" seemed shallow. But they had nothing else. So all they could do was watch Takashi jump back inside Iwagakure and follow his advice.
