Ren Sabaku
D-rank
Another day, another mission... and this time Ren wasn't as lucky to get a nice job indoors as a secretary again or something simple like walking someone's pets around town or something. No, this time she would be acting as a bill collector to collect rent that some businesses owed the city. A rather interesting act for the city to try and employ ninja to collect on their debts, which meant that their payments were delinquent? But it was a D rank mission so unlikely, it was more like the city was using them as a sort of intimidation tactic, a rather dirty business practice if Ren had her own opinion on the matter.
First on the list though, business #1, a local family owned restaurant for things like noodles and other simple foods. Ren felt so awkward going in and asking for the manager or owner to collect a simple rent check. Like it was necessary in any form and they couldn't just mail it in or turn it in themselves, especially given that they would probably want to stay in their places of business and not be shut down by the city. A gentle reminder from Ren that their rent payments were due to the city at the loss of their business and how the tax would help them out, but their response was more or less... erratic? The owner was almost near sweating as he agreed adamantly that he would get it done soon, and when Ren offered to take it for him, he declined and said he would have to take care of it later. Ren sighed and left him with a simple reminder that she was trusting him, and that next time, well it wouldn't be her coming to collect the money or anything like that. It was a little harsh and against her own ideology about the subject, but he had the point and it would keep him out of trouble, at least for the time being.
Business #2 was a bit different than the first, an older woman came out for a fabric shop, just down the street of the first. She was much different, seemingly that amnesia had simply set in and that she forgot to pay. Ren smiled and gave her no worries, waiting in her shop to take her check and deliver it for her, wrinkled hands scribbling away at her check book. Taking the check and thanking her as Ren made her way back into the streets to begin searching out the third business, she felt a small sigh of relief as painless as that portion of the job was. It could have been a lot worse, and thankfully it was just a misunderstanding, but one that warranted a shinobi to take care of it? Seemed excessive to say the least.
Business number 3 was just like the first building, another restaurant that had declined to pay. Whatever the reason Ren sighed and went through the same speal as she did with the first man, however, this woman didn't take it nearly as well. The reaction was a mixture of shock, a little bit of anger at her audactiy, and maybe some concern over losing her business. Either way the job was taken care of as Ren collected the ryo and deposited it along with the other check into her pouch and headed back to the city office to turn in the money and report in. Then it would be back to the missions office to report a job complete and then head home with her little bit of pay for such a... sketchy mission completed.
